Air went out the 1st night and didn't have hot water the next morning. Room issues and inflated prices
Cleanliness atmosphere the hospitality
The room was immaculate, fresh and updated. The lobby, cafe and upstairs lounge were also comfortable and well furnished. The grounds were beautifully manicured. We were able to come and go to the convention center without having to go outside. The tour through the Rain Forest was intriguing. Thank you for the efficient shuttle service. I wish we could have stayed longer. The time it took to check-in was longer than average. The cafe waitress at breakfast was unacceptably slow to attend. Thankfully a bus boy stopped at our table to ask if we'd been helped, then went to get someone to get us menus. Our meals arrived barely warm. We had to ask for water during the meal also. The cafe service did not match the luxury of the rest of our stay.
The room decor and comfort was nice. What followed was distressing...... My purse was stolent in front of the reception desk. I spoke out openly in the lobby stating, " My purse was stolen help!" No one came to help. I went to the reception desk and said the same thing, described the purse to the receptionist at the checkin desk, and she asked me what i wanted her to do. Shocked, I went to the bell desk and repeated that my purse had been stolen asking if they'd seen anything. The woman at that desk didn't get up or so much as ask me a question. A friend and I apprehended the thief who'd stolen my purse and was awaiting her car in vallet. Yes she was a hotel guest. Mr. Davilla from Security arrived, took her license plate and said he'd call the police. He was the only one who stepped in to help us. My children were scared watching this all unfold. Especially my little boy who tried to help me spot the person who took my purse as I didn't get any assistance from Hotel personal for several minutes. We were left to our own defenses.

We have stayed at All the finer Hotels on Galveston Island. Moody Gardens is by far the Nicest, cleanest and updated Hotel on the island. We were in town meeting with a Real Estate agent and decided to give Moody Gardens a try since we had never stayed there. We were Pleasantly Surprised. This Hotel was Spotless and the staff was more than friendly and seemed Happy to be there. We couldn't stay longer. This Hotel is Not on the beach so that might be a drawback for some. It does however have the waterpark which is the bomb for kids.
The resort was great , but I wished they had informed people on their website the pool was closed. That was the main reason we chose that hotel. The staff was great and we were shuttled to he Hilton next door to swim. Rooms comfortable as well.
The pool He air condition was super loud and could not sleep. There were roaches in our room.
Overall this was a very nice hotel. We stayed on the 16th floor which is considered their VIP floor. It was nicer then the others. Party of the resort is made up of condos which makes the hotel appear bigger then it is. The food at the bistro was amazing. HUGE portions! The room service was ok. Not the most friendly staff. The pool was really nice, heated and lit. Great swim up bar. The staff at the front desk were not the friendliest. Very short and easily irritated. There is a resort tax/fee on almost every purchase. Also the snacks that they mention on the VIP levels are merely bottled water and candy. The breakfast is muffins and coffee. Not really a balance for the buck.
Rooms were great! Clean, even by our high standards. Food in the hotel was great, especially the breakfast. No need to leave the resort. Staff were nice as expected on this level of hotel. Love the Christmas decorations! Room service charging $4 per bottle of water is absurd. I understand a need for profit but since one bottle is less than 10 cents at any local store (when bought in a bundle) this seems just plain wrong. Valet should be included in the room charge especially when your guest is on crutches, although I never asked, it would have been nice for them to waive that charge.
The view, staff were very friendly No makeup mirror in bathroom, additional counter space in bathroom. Very nice but expensive.
Extremely high end resort at a price the most people can afford.
I like how everything was close by and loved how they were able to quickly change my room The long wait to talk to someone at the front desk every time.
Beautiful view and very comfortable room in general. We happened to get a room with no hair dryer, but I'm sure they will take care of that.
Loved the pool area and food! Very concerned with the overall safety of the hotel. During our stay, someone was able to gain access to our hotel room at 5:30am in the morning. We caught the individual off guard by waking up, and immediately called the hotel staff. After calling twice, our call was finally answered and we received a vague response. We inquired around the issue upon check-out, but received no information. The hotel was lovely, but I do not know if I can recommend the San Luis after this disregard for client's safety.
The location is by far the best thing this resort has going for it. You can walk across the street to the beach. If you're on a higher floor you will have a direct view of the ocean, which is awesome. The biggest downer was the air conditioning in the room. It worked poorly and leaked on the tile floor. Maintenance came twice to work on it and brought us a fan. Sleeping the first night was uncomfortable. The room was dated, in desperate need of a remodel. Bathroom was dingy with burned out lightbulb, nasty floor and silvering mirror.
The pool is great . The Itialian restaurant was a huge hit with our son saiid the pizza was amazing.
The Bistro staff took care of my wife as she had to wait until 4 to check in. We have been to the resort in the past, and will return but ( and no offense to Kayak/Priceline) we'll have to book direct with the San Luis if we want the service to be "right" 1. Check in was unpleasant, I felt second rate since we didn't book thru the hotel. We were reminded of this several time.."if you would have booked thru us..." 2. We couldn't check in until 4 pm, even thought the place was very much unoccupied (you can tell, the parking lots were very free) 3. The Steakhouse was expensive, and the steak was the chewiest thing I've ever had. The service was REALLY slow.
