Pros: Fantastic room and food
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location good, quite central. I liked the boutique style and friendliness of the staff- nothing was too much trouble.
Cons: We had dinner, which was nice, but a bit too fancy. The first morning, we had breakfast and as a vegetarian, they were very accommodating and the breakfast was lovely. The second morning, the breakfast wasn't as good, quite disappointing with dried, reheated bacon and baked beans and overcooked eggs. Not good enough for the price. There were weddings on both days, so the hotel lobby was disrupted as they turned around to cater for the next wedding, had to squeeze past housekeeping trolleys, laundry, rubbish etc.

Rossington Hall - Doncaster - Building
7
9.2 Excellent (240 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Rossington Hall is a grade II listed building and has recently undergone a breath-taking transformation, returning the Hotel and its gardens to its former Victorian glory. We are discretely set in 250 acres of this country estate. The estate is also home to the once hidden 'Italian Sunken Garden', the 'Victorian Rose Garden' and surrounding woodlands. Rossington Hall was built in 1882 by the wealthy and highly respected Streatfield family as their family home. After years of neglect the current owner is passionately restoring the building with each and every architectural feature being rebuilt, copied or restored to re-capture the atomsphere of living n the era of elegance, inspried by true Victorian morals and values. With this inspiration the focus is on ensuring we are able to assist you in creating a magical experience during your stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The history was interesting. The food was banging the staff were lovely and the house was beautiful.
Cons: The only thing I'd change is a bit of a craft beer selection but that's because I'm picky.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The bed was ok
Cons: Place was very dirty (not the bathroom that was clean). Could write name in dust and hall carpets in dire need of vacuuming. Curtains were all over the floor and not properly attached at top. Was very disappointed! Having read other reviews expected better. Suspect some reviews are fake - especially the one word sum up with no other comments. The road to the house was VERY VERY potholed. The amazing, huge bath/shower was very dangerously slippy and difficult to get in or out of.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel in a lovely setting. The staff were all really friendly and helpful - they were attentive without being overbearing. You won't get better service than this anywhere else. Nice menu for evening meal. The food was delicious and well presented.
Cons: We were in the least expensive room - a gorgeous room but has no outside window and it was warm in the heat. However there was an electric fan in the room so it was comfortable to sleep.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything - rooms gorgeous, atentive staff.. everything you could ask for in a hotel! Please take the chance to stay! We didnt want to leave!
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were very impressive, the staff were more than welcoming.
Cons: The breakfast was very under cooked in-fact I think that the whole breakfast was done in a microwave. It was cooked through but not very pleasant looking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: we stayed as was attending the races. gorgeous hotel with very large rooms that are decorated to high standard in keeping with the history of the building. our bathroom was very big with a fantastic bath. we had a large bed that was one of the best I have ever slept on in a hotel. The staff were friendly and the breakfast menu was a great selection.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The building has been restored and is in good order with careful choice of furniture and decoration for the period. The staff were lovely and made us feel very welcome. Even though we had a few issues when we arrived the staff remained pleasant and attentive and worked to resolve the issues. The grounds were lovely and peaceful, it was great to see the resident peacocks roaming around the walled garden. The breakfast we had in the morning was first class and deserves a mention.
Cons: When we arrived the cleanliness of the room was not up to scratch, but after discussion with the manager she had the room serviced whilst we were out and we returned to an excellent room. We did find it strange that we were told what time we were having breakfast, but after negotiation we were given a better time slot. It was explained that the timing was to give the chef the chance to provide a good service. and to be fair the breakfast was worth waiting for.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every thing. Every thing about the place was out standing. Staff were brill
Cons: Had a great time.. Staff were great.. Food great.. Drink great.. Bedroom & bathroom great.. Beautiful place.. Me & my wife would stay there any time

9.2 Excellent (129 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Scunthorpe, Winteringham Fields is within a 15-minute drive of Normanby Hall Country Park and Humber Bridge. Free self parking is available onsite.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The restaurant was unquestionably the best restaurant I have ever eaten at, as this is what the place is famous for so not surprising really.
Cons: Our room was disappointing, from dead flies on the window sill (suppose this can't be avoided, but it wasn't a fresh kill) to the door lock on the room being faulty (unable to get out at one point) and no chair supplied for the dressing table? The main issue we had was being so far away from the main building/restaurant, in fact, we were a 2-3 minute walk away which was very inconvenient and cold during December. The offer of an open Golf Buggy to pick up and drop off wasn't the dignified solution to not being told this before our arrival - has we known we were staying in a room on the other side of the village, we wouldn't have stayed. We even got locked out of the building on our return from the restaurant, late at night after walking in the cold! We had to walk back to the restaurant and ask for help, which completely ruined the nice evening we had along with another resident who had to be woken to let us in!!! Very poor experience and not what we were expecting of a £200 per night room rate!!! We declined breakfast in the morning as we couldn't be bothered with the walk through the village to and from the restaurant again!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were more than helpful. This was their last night before going home for Christmas. Some of them to France. This did not deter them or rush us. They gave us fantastic service. This is our third stay and it totally lived up to our expectations.
Cons: Nothing really
9.3 Excellent
Pros: both good
Cons: cost of wine by the glass was exorbitant. The Ladies downstairs toilet had obviously not been cleaned nor paper towels replenished when we came down for breakfast at 0930 on the sunday
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent one-star Michelin restaurant with rooms. Relatively expensive overnight stay, but we both enjoyed the 8 course tasting menu and attentive service from all the staff.
Cons: Room was rather warm due to the weather, but a large fan was provided which was most welcome.

Pros: Clean comfortable room. Good amenities in the room iron, hairdryer etc. Would not stay in Doncaster again but would use the Wetherspoon Hotels in the future. Good value.
Cons: No on site parking. Staff directed us to a reasonably priced car park. Disappointed with the surrounding area. Did not want to wander around at night. Looks like some improvements are being made.
5.0 Okay
Cons: Emptied the bottles bins gone midnight every night. Doors slamming, general banging, and air conditioning that came in at 0500 every morning even though it was turned off! Poor food even by spoons standards. Didn’t get one good nights sleep.

Pros: The bed was comfty
Cons: The room furniture was dusty
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is so stylish, the decor matches perfectly. The room we had was HUGE and with a lovely view. Very comfortable bed, lovely bathroom.
Cons: The balcony that you can clearly see on the pictures isn't usable. The breakfast was overpriced and the staff were very slow to serve. We had to ask for our coffee twice and our toast three times. They closed the bar before 11 on a Saturday, when we were coming back for a nightcap, despite there being at least one wedding on, we almost couldn't get a drink. The bedspread had a rip in it, it could do with a sew up.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was excellent, and the staff were very obliging, nothing was too much trouble.
Cons: The wardrobe door fell off.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel in a great location with helpful staff
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location & friendly
Cons: Price alcohol way over priced
6.3 Good
Pros: The hotel was clean, staff were friendly
Cons: The shower didn’t work, unfortunately we didn’t realise this until the following morning because when we arrived, we went straight out to an event. We needed to leave the following morning & reported it as we were leaving. The window in the room didn’t have any openers, it was very hot & we couldn’t get any fresh air into the room
8.0 Excellent

Pros: Clean & tidy great location fir doncaster race course;
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything it was a great place to stay and I would stay again
Cons: Nothing
6.8 Good
Pros: Very clean & very pleasing
Cons: Recently refurbished executive room - overall very nice. Bathroom looked plush, however lacked finish - the wooden unit basin mounted was on stood directly on tiled floor with signs of water damage(swollen)also unit maked up due to where the soap has been left, shower head pipe work visible between headunit & wall. Could have done with:- a soap dish, shelf near basin. The only shelf where tooth brush, drink glasses etc could be left was behind the wc not the most hygienic of places.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic staff, very helpful, always smiling and happy. The hotel is great the rooms are furnished to a very good standard. Bed were very comfortable. Best hotel that I have stayed in for years, don't change a thing.
Cons: The weather in Doncaster was very cold outside, so glad I was staying in an excellent hotel.
6.0 Good
Pros: No expense spared with this hotel
8.0 Excellent
Pros: hotel room was fantastic and the food was amazing
4.3 Okay
Pros: I chose this hotel because I was attending an evening function at the hotel so location was foremost priority. Main hotel is excellent for functions and of a high standard - I would have ticked 'luxury' to classify the hotel had it not been for the bedroom. Staff were friendly enough.
Cons: We were located in an annex bedroom (ground floor off reception). Bedroom was freezing cold - admittedly it was the end of October but didn't expect to have to sleep in coats! Even the carpet was so cold it felt damp. Other issues: Damp towel left on bathroom floor - later realised this is because the shower intermittently dribbled and splashed on floor; room dusty (especially noticable on black lamps); dead spider and bits of paper on window sill so obviously not been cleaned; four holes in one of the bed sheets; mug in bedroom was cracked and chipped. I contacted the hotel manager by email when I got home to advise of these problems so that they can be rectified but a week later the email has not even been acknowledged.
6.3 Good
Pros: Excellent front of staff - attended a wedding/reception and though that it was very well planned
Cons: We stopped in room 703 which was one of the refurbished rooms. The room was very comfy and well decorated but I have 2 points regarding the bathroom. No 1 - the stainless steel rubbish bin was rusty and needed to be thrown away. No 2 Whilst the shower is excellent, the water left on the tiled floor is extremely dangerous and had my elderly parents been in the room I would have been very worried about their safety. I think you need to provide floor towels as well as bath/hand towels to mop up the water that comes out of the shower area. Also, the breakfast was really nice but would benefit from the plates being warmed. I would welcome comments from the hotel regarding these points.
5.2 Okay
Pros: Lovely interior to the hotel, nice restaurant/staff. In a very good location to the Racecourse and a pub across the road.
Cons: The shower in our room was at boiling temp and could not be turned down which was very infuriating and dangerous. The staff on Reception had atitude problems and did not make us feel welcome. When I paid our bill and attempted to speak to the lady about the shower she turned away and went about other business with her collegue never glancing back.
6.4 Good
Pros: Staff were very pleasant
Cons: 1) Exterior of the Hotel is poor (Reception area is very modern and well presented) 2) Rooms are very dated and tired.
3.2 Mediocre
Pros: Convenient location just 10 minutes walk from town centre
Cons: No cold water - both sink taps ran hot. One tap was coming off the fitting. Bathroom door did not close. Room was very small and claustrophobic. Tatty furnishings. In need of a major refurbishment.
5.2 Okay
Pros: Clean, good parking, nice size room, comfortable bed.
Cons: Shower unit loose on wall, constant drip, unable to regulate temperature - too hot. Heating too hot, I tried radiator valve to no effect (later advised that reception could have sorted this out). Lift not working, no help with bags up stairs. Insufficient info in rooms ref heating, tv channels, immediate local area (Doncaster). Poor external signage - we were told this was because hotel is a listed building, we asked for more information out of interest but it wasn't forthcoming.

Conveniently placed for an overnight stop & real value for money

Pros: Very clean bedroom and bathroom. Good bed. Good shower.
Cons: Bar area was very loud in the evening and became rowdy with shouting and chanting group. Young staff seemed poorly trained and were slow, uncommunicative and disinterested. Breakfast staff were more keen to chat with each other than to help residents. Forgot to bring the hot drinks ordered. Clearly didn't want to be there! Garish decor in breakfast area.

Pros: The property was lovely I felt like I was invited to stay in someone’s home rather than a B and B, which after completing a three day trip on the Hadrian’s Cycleway was ace. Plus Colin who checked us in was very welcoming/helpful especially when one of our team arrived very late to check in.
Cons: Nothing

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful quiet village. KItchen with fridge storage for longer stays etc (or wine!). Nice touches like eggs for sale in kitchen, snooker room next door, toothbrushes and tooth paste for sale (by honesty box). I had a great ensuite room, with two double beds. Catherine who looks after the guest house was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Breakfast was basic but OK, though I wish I'd discovered the eggs first! The coffee was only instant, however. I missed the option for fresh ground filtered or percolated black coffee, but with the facilities in the kitchen, you could easily make your own, if you knew you needed to bring it, or were there for more than a night
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and tidy with all required facilities available. Staff was friendly and helpful. Well maintained.
Cons: Quite noisy from other tenants, passing pedestrians and vehicles but nothing that the property could have done to improve. Whilst there was sufficient breakfast items, I was expecting some pastries etc to make it a proper continental breakfast. The modification to the door handles means when opening from inside the room, you hit your hand on the lock so would suggest that needs looking at.

Pros: The location was in a quiet rural area but within distance of various villages. The room we stayed in was bigger than expected and comfortable. The staff & 'locals' were very friendly and the food was lovely with a full/varied breakfast each morning. I would like to mention that we had to cut short our visit, due to unforeseen circumstances, and the staff who dealt with us was so understanding and helpful, which was really appreciated. We hope to return in the future.
6.8 Good
Pros: The location was good to the venue i was attending, traffic noise wasn't to bad either.
Cons: There was noticeable stain on one of the pillows of the bed, the extractor fan was dirty and there was rust on the shower toiletry holder. The toilet kept running after flushing and had to press the flush button a few times in order to stop the running and finally the bed springs make a noise although not to bad.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hash browns were to die for! And for the first time in his entire life my 6'5 partner slept in a bed that fit him. No feet dangling over the end of the bed at the River Don Tavern. Plenty of room and very comfortable as well. We were very impressed with the facilities and amenities, which exceeded expectations completely. And excellent value for money, by far the cheapest and nicest place I've ever stayed at.

Pros: The rooms were lovely and clean and the hotel is in a lovely quiet country setting on the outskirts of town. Staff were very welcoming. We visited the Boat Inn for Sunday lunch only a short drive away, also lovely. If you are wanting a nice relaxing trip, away from the hustle and bustle, this is the place. Definitely
Cons: It was hot -July - and there wasn't air conditioning, but there was an oscillating fan available in the room.

Pros: Eggs cooked to order, pot of tea to my table, gluten free bread. Staff friendly and welcoming.
5.5 Okay
Pros: proximity to Doncaster and family
Cons: room very hot - no air conditioning and couldn't really open window very wide. Ground floor. There was a spot light outside the window which shone in the room most of the night - went off at say 2am.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Room 29 is a conference room with pull down beds which were very uncomfortable. This room is not fit for purpose and should not be used. Apart from that the hotel is warm and clean with friendly staff.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Food was lovely and there is a handy pub right opposite!
Cons: Nothing!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and quiet
Cons: Was tough to find the opening hours for the restaurant. It was closed on Sunday (when we arrived). There’s a cheap and cheerful family restaurant in the building opposite, which sufficed. The restaurant in the hotel looked much better though.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location
Cons: Towels were old, hard and rough to touch, well below standard. Pillows were also hard. Made it difficult to sleep. Could hear the toilet cistern fillings from the room next door. Could also hear music from somewhere. Maybe a party in the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely building, great breakfast and very efficient staff.
Cons: Was a bit noisy in our room, as it was right next to reception. And could hear doors slamming all night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect suite for us to prepare for our daughters wedding day. Staff really friendly and helpful, facilities good (except for the bar closing early!!!). Great suite which made our daughters day - jacuzzi bath to start, room to have her wedding makeup done and plenty of space for dad (me!!!) to get her into her dress and out to church.....!!!! Thank you to all!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: all areas meet my needs
Cons: Not a fan of steamer cabinet or heater lamp breakfasts

Pros: Friendly staff. Was only staying overnight. Clean and tidy done it’s job.
7.5 Good
Pros: Its a pub with some fairly nice rooms above it and it was very clean with crisp sheets. It is not a fancy hotel, it doesn't have a restaurant, and it is not a romantic getaway. The parking is on the street outside (no car park), but at least it doesn't start charging till 9.00 am. The breakfast was really good. Its a good option for a stopover, but don't go expecting the Ritz.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice bar and restaurant
Cons: Unfortunately I didn't stay here on this occasion as check it time was 4.30 and it said 3pm on booking.com
