Delicious breakfast - home made yoghurt, jams and cake. Flaky croissants. Patrick and Francoise are very concerned that guests are comfortable. Luxurious in the old French chateau style. Pros: Everything. Beautiful setting, the chateau itself was lovely. The room was large, airy, and very comfortable. The bathroom was large and had everything one might need. Pros: The beautiful grounds and views, lovely hosts and amazing breakfast!
Pros: Host went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable and educational
Cons: Explanation of payment method when using booking.com. Out of seven reservations I made for this trip, this was the only property that wasn't prepaid. I was embarrassed when we almost left without paying! This was not the fault of the property, though.

Cons: The owner was super helpful throughout, from welcoming us to breakfast the following morning. The room was huge, the bed comfortable, the bathroom good, the breakfast apple, fresh, home-made, and generally delicious. Top marks all round
Pros: Extremely friendly staff and perfect location within easy walk of town centre.
Pros: We get much more than paid for - a true Guest House where we are treated as the guests of the house. The Concept of the Maison d'Hotes is beautiful and progressive, adding to the hospitality, the beauty and the comfort, is the convivial atmosphere.
Pros: The owner, the location, the accomodation was fantastic...we usually stay in main stream hotels but thought we would try something different. So glad we did. It was a lovely place to stay and the welcome was second to none...would highly recommend. Not far off the motorway either and easy to find.
Cons: We arrived on a Sunday. Most restaurants were closed. We managed to find somewhere to eat though on the recommendation of the hotel owner.
Pros: Good secure parking, very helpful staff and rooms nicely finished.6
Cons: Beds very low to floor and mattress hard. Breakfast expensive for what is on offer.
Pros: Breakfast was fine with fresh bread, coffee and cereals. The jams were nice and there were cheeses and salami. The owner was extremely pleasant and friendly and the overall experience was great. AC was very good and needed.
Cons: No boiled eggs at breakfast!
Pros: Excellent location, very clean, comfortable and owner was fantastic
Cons: Two floors to room not good for elderly. Kettle and tea making would help
Pros: I wish we had booked more nights at Villa Richelieu! The beautiful, large room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was generous, fresh and excellent. I wish we had had more time to swim in the pool, play ping-pong etc. The host was delightful and spoke excellent English.
Cons: Our sat nav could only find the back of the house, which was confusing. Is there an alternative postcode to help us find the front gate?!
8.9 Excellent (372 reviews)
See hotel page milie Thiollet of Le Pigeonnier du Perron,The Originals Relaisprovides her guests with an art de vivre in the Poitou style. A subtle balance between tradition and modernity makes this charming hotel a haven of peace that has stood the test of time.
Pros: The excellent staff. Great meals at a competitive price. The garden is an excellent place in the summer to enjoy and evening meal while the sun goes downn
Cons: The towels are not the best. They are not very thick and quite small. More sunshades would be good at the pool. A good clean of the garden chairs on a regular basis would enhance the garden and make sitting outside for relaxing or a pre dinner drink a better place
Pros: Excellent rooms, lovely food, staff very friendly
Pros: Gorgeous. A little treasure
Pros: We love the location and the historical aspect of this hotel. It is comfortable and we particularly like the fact you can reserve for dinner in advance. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Parking is very easy and there is great access to the motorway for travelling onwards.
Pros: We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay. Our dinner was excellent and the staff made our stay enjoyable. The historic information provided was interesting.
Cons: The room was smaller than expected and the breakfast was expensive
Pros: It’s a beautiful location & a picturesque setting. The pool was welcome.
Cons: Ended up paying more than was advertised on the booking for the room. The room was cramped & the design was bizarre & not user friendly. Dinner was reasonable but there weren’t enough staff & service was slow. Breakfast was an absolute rip off...really terrible value & the staff in the morning were rude. The main house of this hotel is stunning but the details & layout everywhere else are not well put together & do not make the most of what should be a beautiful location.
Pros: Tranquil and relaxing. Great for the dog as there were grounds to explore ( on a lead). Swimming pool a bonus.
With a stay at Hôtel de l'univers, you'll be centrally located in Chatellerault, within a 15-minute drive of Chatellerault Forest Park and Aven’Thuré. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
Pros: Great location, friendly staff, historic building
Pros: Friendly staff, plenty of food at bre
Cons: Minute lift = 1 person and a small suitcase and it’s full.
Pros: Friendly staff clean room great city centre location
Cons: Lift was out of order.
Pros: The proprietors were able to provide me with a breakfast meal to eat in my room as I had to catch an early morning train back to Paris and the provision of breakfast did not start until 07.00. I could also vacate the hotel without the proprietors needing to be present. This was appreciated.
Pros: Nothing. We could not stop. Very disappointed.
Cons: The room we were given was like accessing a broom cupboard in the eaves of the attic on third floor. Very claustrophic. Stairs were a hazardous, handrail was loose.
With a stay at B&B Hôtel CHATELLERAULT in Chatellerault, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Chatellerault Forest Park and Aven’Thuré. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby and a vending machine. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Breakfast was good value. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean.
Cons: We stayed at this hotel because we needed stopover accommodation en route to England. We were not looking for a 5 star place and though the view was not scenic it was not an important factor in what we were looking for.
Pros: A comfortable stay on the edge of the town.
Cons: The hotel was fine. Chatellerault itself was very disappointing, we won’t be making another visit.
Pros: Location clean and nice breakfast
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff, lovely breakfast, nice air conditioned bedroom, secure parking, English news channel on TV and value for money. Will stay again.
Cons: All good
Pros: Breakfast OK.
Cons: Breakfast coffee came from a machine by pressing a button, and was rather so-so.
Pros: Secure parking.
Pros: Excellent all round. A short walk to restaurants, huge supermarket and two bakeries. Only thing that could have been better was the elimination of the smell of mould in the bathroom. A small detail..
Located in Chatellerault, La Gourmandine is a 4-minute drive from Chatellerault Forest Park and 10 minutes from Aven’Thuré. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: It’s an atmospheric old building which in its heyday would have been I guess an elegant residence. The interior decor is a mix of traditional and modern. Our room had high ceilings and large French windows. It had been adapted to provide an in room modern shower and a partitioned off loo. A bit quirky but ok ! The bed was very comfortable. No in room facilities for making tea or coffee though. There was private parking in the courtyard and only a few minutes to walk to restaurants. The breakfast was standard continental fare, I had absolutely delicious wholemeal baguette, farm made yogurt, fresh orange juice and good coffee. They provided me with decaf which is always appreciated.
Cons: Nothing really. It’s good to stay somewhere which has individuality and is comfortable and in a town location but easy to get to off the motorway on our route back to Caen.
Pros: Everything really, the host (Dominique) her friendly staff and courteous nature and the Accomodation was beautifully French.
Cons: property was very run down, seemed as if it was on it's last legs. Staff were virtually invisible
Pros: Not a lot
Cons: Poor facilities Bath very slow to fill with water and broken plug release made the bath impossible to empty No tea or coffee and also very poor lighting on entry to the room Very expensive meals and no explanation to restaurant and bar facilities In conclusion very overpriced
Pros: The clean pleasant surroundings, helpful staff, excellent breakfast, spacious room, modern bathroom; very pleasant overnight stop on the way south.
Pros: Good location close to town centre. Room was comfortable and clean
Cons: Stupidly small tea cups.

Pros: Breakfast very good
Pros: Beds were very comfortable and the food in the brasserie was excellent, linguine of duck and smoke salmon was delicious.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind.
Pros: Comfortable bed Adjacent restaurant very good
Pros: Location, efficiency, restaurant. This is a good place for me to stay overnight while travelling through France. I am pleased that my dog is accepted.
Cons: Music in the lift is very loud. The shower floor is slippery. Breakfast is boring.
Pros: Friendly staff, flexible and great service. Food great, comfortable room.
Pros: Ease of locating, parking and access.
Cons: Decide not to have breakfast, as it didnot appear to offer the full buffet that we had experienced elsewhere. Dangerous slippery shower access.. Room ventilation was not adequate, particularly with a warning notice to close windows due to a mosquito problem.
Pros: restaurant was surprisingly good.

Pros: Convenient for an overnight stop when travelling the length of France, basic facilities - not much more to say.
Cons: Nothing outstandingly good or bad
Pros: Reasonably priced stop over with plenty of retaurants nearby.
Pros: In a good location for us just off the motorway for our journey down south.Good place if you have dogs, grounds around the hotel to excercise them and completely secure. There is a good restaurant just up the road which is an all you can eat Chinese.
Cons: The bed was a bit hard for us.
Pros: It's a quiet, clean hotel in an industrial zone. Simple restaurants are in walking distance. The breakfast was good and worth the €6.
Pros: Does exactly what is says on the tin - functional accommodation at a great price. Car parking is right outside, and there are some eateries near by. I liked the fact that there is a largish table by reception where the four of us could sit together - a small shared space other than a breakfast is helpful and often overlooked.
Cons: Its on the outskirts of the town, so you don't get the atmosphere of the location. But ideal if you are just looking for a stopover to break up the journey.
Pros: Ground floor room
Cons: No dogs allowed at breakfast, this was the only hotel we had this issue
Cons: pillows too thin and uncomfortable
Located in Chatellerault, Nouvelle Classe is within a 15-minute drive of Chatellerault Forest Park and Aven’Thuré. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Beds very comfy and clean , clean compact shower toilet room. Good breakfast, coffee typical french and strong
Cons: Needs a little renovation and new bedroom curtains. .
Pros: Great location good value and the young receptionist Sam ? was a superstar. Not only was he welcoming and helpful from the start, he found a wallet I had left on the table and traced me to our room to return it. He was reluctant to accept my small token of appreciation as it was "no problem". A great ambassador for this company and the industry in general Thank you.
Pros: Suitable location, employees.
Cons: Smelly rooms
Pros: Great staff
Cons: Tea making in bedrooms
Pros: For the price good value
Cons: Direction and sign in the dark
Pros: This is an extremely basic m/hotel with a re-purposed ship's bathroom installed en-suite in each very small room :) All that I knew when I booked it as a stop overnight. It all mostly worked. What I was not expecting: - beds spotless and more comfortable than the 3+ star hotel we stayed in the night before - almost new aircon - non-savoury but excellent breakfast with better coffee than in said 3+ -star - Good TV - lots of hot water - Full-size fridge! Overall very basic, very good value, convenient to motorway, ideal for an economic overnight stop. All essentials present. Better than most very cheap places as has en-suite. Wife happy. I will return.
Cons: Bit run down - shower-head wall holder busted (shower worked fine), floor could perhaps have been cleaner, but OK. Not worth a complaint though at the price I paid!
Pros: Good enough for travelling through

Pros: Close to motorway
Cons: The rooms and shower weren't clean as should be.
Pros: Helpful staff, let us park our bicycles securely. Facilities as you would expect in a Formule 1 - type hotel, simple but functional
Cons: Just about everything. Shabby exterior not very welcoming
Pros: Check in a staff were friendly polite and professional. Location was perfect for a stop off when travelling. Door locks were very secure and sheets were cleaned. Priced perfect for over night stop over.
Cons: Entire place is tired, attempt to decorate but left masking tape stuck to beds, window didn't close, TV remote missing, cobwebs everywhere and bed was hard.
Pros: Big bedroom and good bed...good car parking...
Pros: Staff helpful, room was clean, showers good. Breakfast basic but ok. Eating places are within walking distance.
Cons: WC cubicles have no sink for handwashing! not good. Found it tricky to find, Google maps unhelpful (I was travelling by bicycle), wasted at least an hour trying to find it (it's about 1 mile North of the town centre, on a 'trading estate'). Not the hotels' fault!
Located in Chatellerault, Campanile Chatellerault is within a 15-minute drive of Chatellerault Forest Park and Aven’Thuré. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The location is good for travellers. Value for money
Cons: No air conditioning and fan did not work
Pros: Location. Good bed. Good breakfast.
Cons: Uncomfortable. Too hot. No cooling facilities.
Cons: Would not have booked as it was being renovated. No restaurant, poor wifi, couldn't even let us have a bottle of water. Appalling!
Cons: Restaurant and bar closed. Ground floor rooms being refurbished. No mention of any of this on booking.com at time of booking
Pros: Location and parking
Cons: receptionist, smell of paint, shower/bath leaky fittings and dirty floor.
Pros: Room was clean and seemed to have had a recent coat of paint. The facilities are now looking a little tired. A reasonable breakfast.
Cons: The website implied there was a restaurant which was not available, the hotel is currently undergoing renovation the site is looking a little neglected with discarded timber and building materials on show.
Pros: the improvements to the outside and the lnside of the rooms first class last year everything was poor and this year we thought we would give it another go glad we did but againsr other hutels we use we think it,s a bit dear
Cons: the shower head leaked and no hand towels other wise fine
Pros: Easy access from motorway.
Cons: In the middle of refurbishment. No restaurant and breakfast poor .
