Pros: Favorite place of the nine we stayed in on our holiday!!! Gorgeous accommodations and gardens!! Rooms were spotlessly clean with such comfy beds!! Hosts Claire and Nick are awesome!! Breakfast was a delight both with food and hospitality. My sister enjoyed the sauna. It’s a more rural area of southern England and we absolutely loved it!! A local pub they suggested was a tasty surprise with wood fired pizza, curry, steaks and more!
Cons: EVERY THING met and exceeded our expectations!!!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely situation. A real rural retreat. House has been sympathetically modernised to accommodate guests yet retains plenty of charm. Huge garden at the back plus chickens & goats. Claire is incredibly welcoming and cooks a mean breakfast exactly to your liking on the Aga. The bedroom and en suite are comfortable and spotlessly clean. Terrific shower. And how many people have had a birthday candle as part of their breakfast? Just fabulous.

With a stay at Drinkstone Park Bed & Breakfast and Gardens in Bury St Edmunds, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Bradfield Woods and Rougham Control Tower Aviation Museum. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfasts are first class, with different takes on some things but all the tradition you could want. The gardens are spectacular and there’s history, too. When my husband became ill Christine and Michael couldn’t have been more kind and helpful.
Cons: The first night coincided with a particularly cold temperature dip and the room was cold but the next day they made sure we were warm from then on.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: If possible I would have awarded Caroline and Michael 11 out of 10. Exceeded all expectations. As a female travelling alone for work it can be quite daunting sometimes. Caroline and Michael made me feel part of the family, going that extra distance to ensure that everything was better than you would expect. The log burner was on each time I got back from work and I was greeted with tea, scones and cream. I nearly completed the jigsaw in the lounge and was very tempted to stay an extra night to finish it! Beautiful gardens, excellent breakfast, comfortable room, nothing too much effort for them, dogs friendly. Would I stay again? Of course - and I hope to do so.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hosts and the property were charming - especially the garden which was full of interest. Breakfast was excellent as was advice and help in finding a location for an evening meal.
Cons: I did have a problem climbing into the shower and there was no hand rail for support.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Just one word to sum up the whole experience - fabulous.
Cons: Absolutely nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast freshly cooked. Room very well equipped with very comfortable bed and tea & coffee facilities with fresh milk. Beautiful gardens and seating areas.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful garden to unwind in. Amazing breakfast and wonderful hosts.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Room/bed - very clean and comfortable with lovely towels, handwash, shampoo etc Offered cup of tea and cake on arrival FRESH milk in mini flask for tea in my room Delicious and imaginative options for breakfast, inc chestnut and mushroom 'burger' - yum! Fabulous 3 acre garden (with hens for fresh eggs)
Cons: Nothing could have been improved by hosts. Location rural and no public transport nearby.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked and very much appreciated the personal touch which both Michael and Christine afford their guests. Their attention to detail is first class. Their friendly manner, local knowledge and helpful maps were most welcome.
Cons: I always find other peoples showers, taps etc a steep learning curve, so perhaps a run through of the facilities would be a good idea.

Pros: The accommodation is very well presented, clean, tasteful and yet very comfortable. It was a real treat to have a choice of breakfast options in our kitchen. The cakes on arrival were a lovely touch and the hostess was very helpful. I would definitely recommend.

Pros: The Loft is a lovely, light, well equipped and beautifully decorated apartment. Everything was provided for a delicious breakfast and the bed was comfortable and a lovely large shower in the bathroom. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: We received a warm welcome, delighted with the beautiful loft which is of the highest standard with a lovely continental breakfast spread, all the necessary facilities and impeccably clean. Would highly reccomend
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The accommodation is actually equivalent to a 5-star suite. Large living room and open plan kitchen. Excellent self-service breakfast left out for us. Comfortable bed and a large ensuite. Lovely decor.
Cons: We were fine with the steep external staircase but it would not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Did not notice if this was made clear when we booked.

Pros: The location was perfect, next to the beautiful Abbey gardens, close enough to the main town but just far enough to be peaceful. The rooms were tastefully decorated, were clean and well equipped. The breakfast was wonderful with plenty of choice.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Overall, very roomy with a well equipped comfortable bedroom and a large bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. Our room looked out over the car park so it was fairly quiet at night and we slept with the window wide open as it was a warm night. It is very conveniently placed to explore Bury with the Cathedral and park a short walk away and the city centre about 5 mins stroll. Breakfast was good with a wide choice of cold and hot dishes.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Stylish but informal. Excellent healthy breakfasts - cooked and otherwise. Bedroom with lots of charactor. Any criticisms are balanced by plenty of positive experiences.
Cons: I was very happy but some people might find some rooms a little quirky and with, in our case, a rather small bathroom.

Cons: There was nothing we didn't like
6.3 Good
Cons: Not near any restaurant. 40 minute walk to town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely fantastic place to stay. This was a last minute booking. The lady who greeted us was so nice, she talked to us about Bury St Edmunds, told us all about the hotel. Umbrellas if we needed them, if we needed any thing just ask. Beautiful bedroom and we had the last one which was the smallest, it was plenty big enough. Abbey Hotel is so personal, they make you feel so welcome, clean, great breakfast and brilliant location. We will be back
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I particularly liked the quality of the linen, bed sheets and dining napkins. The staff were welcoming and discrete.
Cons: The delightful bedroom was facing a well used road and that delayed me a little in getting to sleep. A minor, temporary distraction.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Owners & staff friendly & helpful. Our room had separate sitting area which loved & used. Breakfast good.
Cons: Not a lot. Entrance to small car park narrow but nothing you can do about that.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable. Lovely cooked breakfast
Overview Reviews
This 17th-century Suffolk abode is a converted water mill in 12 acres of land, enhanced with a sleek, minimalist restaurant and super-stylish boudoirs with high-spec Starck-fitted ensuites. Tuddenham Mill is somewhere to while away a lazy sunny afternoon playing boules by a swan-studded pond, or cosied up on hand-picked statement furniture in a spacious lounge bar under original exposed beams.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was different, cozy, comfortable and clean in a quiet location. Food and staff were excellent - couldn’t have asked for anything more. We will definitely be returning here.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The property was very attractive with a large millpond in the garden and a grassed area with tables and umbrellas. Breakfast, however, was sparse and missing vital and usual items. No fresh fruit, pastries, croissant or cereal. The cooked part was OK but the chef needs to do more practice on scrambled eggs. The dinner was awful. I don't understand how this restaurant is considered up-market, unless it's the rip-off prices! The duck was tougher than the steak knife my wife had to request and was voluntarily removed from the bill. The lobster was badly cooked and tough as leather, probably several times frozen and served with the wrong accompaniments. It was BARELY edible and missing the claws! A monumental FAILURE all around! We chose to eat at a pub along the road the second night and, although ordinary fare was well cooked and enjoyable.
Cons: The food. The reception and the attempt to palm us off with a sub-standard accommodation. Their disorganization and failure to relocate us to the room they had resulted in us being housed in a "LOFT" which appeared to be their best room which was far from the 'luxury' tag they attach to the hotel's name. Pretentious and lacking air conditioning would be more accurate. Road noise was horrendous all night with large trucks thundering through the village!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely building, very comfortable beds and bedding. Never tried ultra glamping but very impressed with the level of comfort and finish of the nooks. Some even had a hot tub!
Cons: Nothing to say here it was all good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff where lovely. We had a table booked for dinner but due to my partner having an allergic reaction to some makeup but the staff brought the menu to our rooms and we had an amazing meal on the terrace with amazing service and genuine helpfulness.
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved staying in the pod. A delightful experience.
Cons: An expensive stay. Lovely venue but food disappointing-small portions for the price.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Nooks are a very special place to stay! Such a beautiful view. We will visit again.
Cons: Air conditioning would be a welcome addition.
7.5 Good
Pros: Dinner delicious
Cons: Night porter came into our room at 2.20am with two drunken people as they had claimed, incorrectly, that it was the room they had booked. Night porter had not checked before opening our bedroom door and putting the room lights on. We were very alarmed. We are still awaiting a letter of apology.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great place! Almost like a Hobbiton! Fantastic food although servings could be a bit larger.
Cons: Rooms can get quite warm, glad we were not there in the +30 days.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very nice and helpful.
Cons: Only one thing I would like to add is that I think a property of this standard should supply face cloths
8.0 Excellent
Cons: The room was described as a double room with terrace... and internal / external pictures were shown of rooms in the main buildings. The room we actually got was a wooden pod - with wooden decking - in the grounds of the hotel. Although it was a good standard - apart from limited headroom - you really need to be clearer with customers that you’re not getting a night in a hotel when you’re actually getting a night glamping!

Cons: Nothing - an excellent venue.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mike was very attentive and helpful especially as we arrived late. The breakfast was good and plentiful. Having a bath was a huge bonus.
Cons: It was very hot overnight, but a fan was provided. Probably could have done with fly screens to keep the flying ants out.
6.8 Good
Pros: Comfortable bed
Cons: Bathroom private but a few doors down corridor. Breakfast pre-prepared in room, packet croissants and no cornflakes amongst cereals.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet location but only a £7 taxi ride on to BSE if you don't want to drive. Owner was very warm welcoming fella and the ensuite room we had was very spacious.
Cons: There was no shower gel or soaps for use with shower/bath which I found strange. If it was stated in information about property, we'd have brought our own!

Pros: Hostess at front desk was exceptional at fullfilling our requests. Such as, we were leaving early next morning and she had pastries wrapped up and sitting outside our door for us to enjoy when we left.

Pros: Very well furnished , modern and all brand new equipment. Good location, nice garden area and good breakfast. Nice shower , beds very comfortable. We had the top floor room so good size for up to four people.
Cons: I didn’t like the bath in the room as it took up space and I wouldn’t use it, but other people may like it.

Cons: Only slight biggie was no air con in 36 degrees
7.0 Good
Pros: Bed was comfortable and general feel was nice. Great bathroom. Breakfast was very nice.

Pros: Well decorated rooms
6.8 Good
Pros: I feel the Northgate is trying to be something it isn’t quite yet. Although the room was nice it wasn’t wow. The breakfast was amazing. But it is expensive to stay here for one night. I stayed at the Swan in southwold a couple of days later and that is amazing luxurious and you were treated like royalty - the cost of both were similar but the experience worlds apart and I hope the Northgate reaches this in the future
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was speedy and excellent. Had full English with choice of eggs.
Cons: Room..….bathroom was good but room was incredibly hot.....not their fault in the summer months... no a/c but they did provide a fan. However, to have thick, high tog quilts on the beds in summer is strange. Also, very noisy at front of hotel even with windows shut. Situated on one of main roads into Bury St Eds and v busy..... some cars all night long (I know because I was awake at 3am!). So ask for a rear room!!

I got a pot of watery, sour, poor quality filter coffee ( a the thing of the past). a hotel of this caliber needs to serve as standard decent, delicious coffee, in its many different , normal combo's/ ways most other places so these days.

Pros: Nice Breakfast nice coffee, quiet location
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I arrived really early and met David and he let me into my room straight away. I had a really nice lunch of salmon and rice and a delicious pint of rhubarb cider. I sat in the gorgeous garden and then read in my lovely room. I then had a fantastic sirloin steak, great pinot noir and nice service for dinner. Attention to detail and great quality ingredients made the food really stand out. Breakfast at 8 and I was very impressed with the quality of the sausage and bacon. Great stay, just wish I had a bit more energy for socialising as it seems like a great local.
Cons: The shower was a bit too hot and I couldn't seem to get it colder, it might need replacing. There could have been a loo brush in there too. Wine glass needed polished. Really minor things but didn't subtract from my stay at all.

Pros: Staff were lovely. Food was great. Room was lovely. Thank you very much
Cons: The shower head needs replacing, but the hotel was absolutely fantastic other than that. We did stay on the hottest day of the year, though, so a fan or aircon would have been beneficial!

7.5 Good
Pros: The staff were really courteous and friendly and the cooked breakfast was good. The bed and pillows were really comfy. The location was fairly central so we could walk everywhere easily.
Cons: The room was a really good size, but the decor was dire! It was grey, depressing and soulless, which is a shame in a lovely old building.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great atmosphere. Good menu with traditional dishes which as it was summer served on the terrace (shady or sun as per choice). Breakfast was excellent. The manager was very friendly and helpful.

Pros: Location excellent. Quiet. Pleasant staff. Breakfast OK.
Cons: Small dingy room number 4. No toilet roll holder or brush. Bathroom shelf missing. Dead bird on the steps outside of the window. Very small car park.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb management and staff. Comforts for all in a traditional pub with rooms. Best beer in the world....Abbot Ale. Good high standard of meals and excellent breakfast. Rooms with all facilities. A very small car park but staff most helpful in moving and re-parking cars as needed. Will definitely recommend and will visit again
Cons: It was over 35 degrees but rooms were still well ventilated although a few fans in rooms and public areas for use in these extreme temperatures would be an improvement
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were kind enough to get our room ready early, breakfast was great, room lovely but shower could have been cleaner. Great location, have been before and would go again.
4.3 Okay
Pros: Location good. Morning staff friendly.
Cons: Hostile welcome from staff. Argument about parking. Bathroom very dirty. Room not hoovered. Pub looked chaotic. Dirty plates and glasses everywhere. Tempted to drive away.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was fine, location was excellent.
Cons: We had Room 2 which was dirty. Lots of stains on the wall next to the drink making facilities, carpet was very dusty especially behind the entrance door and behind the window curtains. My partner cleaned the toilet before use and the bathroom floor was unswept. Looks as if the shower tray, toilet seat and sink only had been cleaned.

7.0 Good
Pros: Bedroom and bathroom were both large, comfortable and to a high standard
Cons: Layout of hotel entrance not good , entrance hall flanked by restaurant and bar giving the impression I was walking into a pub.. reception to the rear and poorly signposted in fact I had to confirm that reception was exactly that and not some sort of hot desk. Breakfast very average and not worth the money.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Best English breakfast I have had in a long time .
Cons: Bar staff more interested in setting up than serving customers.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location in the centre of town. The bed was very comfortable and the quality of the bedding excellent.
Cons: Didn't eat in the restaurant as we felt that the tables were extremely close to each other.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the decor and ambience of the breakfast room and the continental breakfast was one of the best we've ever had. Fresh produce, good choice and great service.
Cons: Struggle to find fault, but air con in the bar would have been a bonus as we visited during the heatwave. That said, no-one could have predicted such unusual weather conditions!

7.5 Good
Pros: New bar is a big improvement but needs seating to be less regimental.
Cons: New reception extremely unwelcoming and bland. Also only one receptionist on at a time. Very bad for busy periods. Awkward look about it.
