Pros: I really liked my stay with Celso and his family.. There are in a good position and Celso gave me all the information I needed! It was nice eating together, talking about tradition, he showed me a bit of their culture. Taquile island is lovely! I suggested to spend a night here as well (most tour only pass by)
Pros: Friendly owner
Cons: A walk up the hill a little bit too long
Pros: The family were absolutely lovely and the food was delicious.
Pros: This place is amazing. Celso and his family take their hosting duties very seriously and treat you as one of their own. It's (almost) totally off the grid, so if slightly lower scores for 'comfort' or 'facilities' put you off, you probably shouldn't go. However, if you want to put some space between you and the hordes of tourists swarming many other parts of Peru, then that's a different matter...
Cons: That some other people knew about it!
Pros: Celso family are really friendly. He gave us activities to do, a nice walk on the first day visiting Inca ruins and a great viewpoint for sunset (although his hand drawn map wasn’t too accurate and we got lost a few times!). Another nice walk in the morning to the beach on the other side of the island. Room was better than expected with it being on such a small island. Breakfast and dinner were ok.
Cons: Overpriced by Peruvian standards, felt like the whole island was a bit of a tourist trap. Dinner should be included in the price and not an added extra as there is literally nowhere else to eat in the evening. Shower wasn’t hot in the morning.
Pros: We found Taquille beautiful, and not 'touristy' at all. Most tourists only stop by for lunch, and life on the island seems to continue more or less unhindered. A lovely, tranquil place to relax. Friendly host and host family seems to have a genuine love for their island and their culture. Even though they provide tourist accommodation we never felt they were putting on a tourist act. This being a homestay, we expected the accommodation to be rustic, but we were very pleasantly surprised by a large, comfortable room and a shared bathroom with hot water. Celso phoned us the morning of our stay to assist with travel arrangements, and when he found we couldn't speak Spanish promptly found an English speaking friend to assist us thus. He seems well known on the island, and provided us with a hand drawn map of things to do and see.
Cons: We were lucky in that a fellow guest spoke Spanish, as the host family speaks no English at all. We would have missed out on a lot of the cultural information had no-one been available to translate. Be aware that dining options on the island is much more limited than in cities in Peru. You will most likely be taken to a family home restaurant for lunch, which was S/.20 per person plus drinks. For dinner you can either bring snacks or eat with the family, once again at S/.20 per person.
Pros: The family and the culture
Cons: Far away from the main square
Pros: Lovely service in a great setting. We were met from the boat, taken to the plaza and to a lunch spot. The family is really nice and it is a nice balance between getting an authentic experience with the family and still having your own space. Shower is hot and they can charge devices for you. Would recommend!
Cons: Nothing. Worth knowing some Spanish if you can though
Pros: The rooms are simple but absolutely lovely and the hose is very nice with a great view! The family is very nice and really helpful. Absolutely would recommend the island and the family!
Pros: Celso and his family were very welcoming and went out of their way for us to enjoy our stay - he offered very insightful explanations about the island in general, life on the island and everything else we asked about. The property was lovely and well taken care of, and even offered hot water and a shower. We were also offered a hearty dinner (which you have to pay around 10 soles extra) and breakfast the following morning. The service is managed very well by a partner in Puno and communicate via whatsapp, they can help you with booking a ferry to and from the island (for 35 soles per person) and arranging for pick up and drop off to and from the boat.
Cons: It wasn't a problem for us - but bear in mind that the host doesn't speak English (or extremely limited) so if none in your group as some basic Spanish (and especially understands it) you will miss out on a lot of the explanations / general experience of a homestay. I doubt this would be different in a different homestay in Taquile - so be aware before complaining!
Located in Puno, Hotel Posada Santa Barbara is in the historical district, within a 5-minute walk of Chucuito Plaza de Armas and Chucuito Cathedral. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Planning an event in Puno? This hotel has facilities measuring 1292 square feet (120 square meters), including conference space. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: We were very well. The Posada is beautiful, the rooms are rustic style but comfortable whit lake view. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They gave us a lot of information for our tours. Breakfast was good and dinner was great.
Pros: Located in a quiet nice town about 15min from puno! Staff is super friendly and helpful. Nice common areas
Cons: The bathroom is in the toilet (or toilet in the batroom
Pros: We love this place,it is an old rustic place run by really nice people. You even do not need to worry about dinners as they can cook it for you. Also, you can book a horse riding there, highly recommended as you can see some unique parts of the village. Did not want to leave this place!
Pros: Hospitable owners and great, helpful staff making our stay very pleasant and stress free. Location by lake Titicaca but away from the hustle and bustle of Puno. Good food in the restaurant including breakfast.
Cons: Relatively small bathroom. Beds upstairs, bathroom downstairs might be a challenge to climb at night.
Pros: Incredible place !! They offer horseback riding and can organize as well a ceremony at Amaru , the sacred portal of Peru. Very friendly owner ( German speaking ) and staff . Rustic sauna for a small fee available.
Pros: The property is gorgeous, the accommodations are great, and the owners and staff are marvelous. I would highly recommend Hotel Posada to anyone traveling in the area. We're sad to be leaving.
Pros: The obvious and most striking advantage of this place is the design and atmosphere of the hotel. One of the authentic, special, memorable places that you advise others and in which you want to return. Stone buildings and a lot of stone in the decoration, the skins of lamas on the benches, folk textiles create an excellent peruvian atmosphere. The territory of the hotel and the surrounding area are picturesque, you want to live here for a long time, not just stay for a few days. The hotel has an inexpensive sauna and awesome black cat)
Cons: Despite the fact that the hotel can see lake Titicaca, it is very far away and there are no approaches to it. The place is great but the price in my opinion is a bit overpriced for such location.
Pros: Quiet, warm, comfortable, peaceful, great view, wonderful staff. Fantastic spot for our romantic getaway. I will definitely return to this hotel for my next trip to Lake Titicaca.
Pros: Charming rustic stone building with beautiful surroundings. Made for a very relaxing retreat.
When you stay at Taquile Sumaq Wasi - Adults only in Isla Taquile, you'll be steps from Lake Titicaca. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk and luggage storage.
Pros: Felipe and Ines are extremely welcoming and friendly. Their family is hard working and make some lovely handicrafts. The home cooked meals were excellent. The view from their house is brilliant!
Pros: It was a great stay. Philipe and Ines are very kindly and courteous hosts. The meals he offered us were very delicous and vegetarian. Even our meet eating friends loved it. There were some troubles at our day of departure with the boat, but fortunately Philipe was at the port at the same time. He ruled it for us and managed us a new boat. Gracias.
Pros: Owners are really nice and friendly. They cook delicious meals. The room has plenty of blankets to keep you warm in the night. You have a nice view of the lake from the terrace. Plaza principal is only few minutes walk. We walked around the entire island at our own pace. Definitely worth a visit!
Pros: Lovely family that runs the place. The place is primitive, but that is the case for the whole island. Overall a nice experience with the family
Cons: Hard to communicate if you don't speak spanish
Pros: This was more than an accommodation for us, the family showed us the island, explained their customs and shared their food with us. We had an unforgettable experience and we warmly recommend it for others who want a similar experience.
Pros: The Location is perfect and the food tasty. Ines is really nice and taught us a lot she even showed us how to make typical taquilean bread. We had a great time and can recommend this to everyone visiting the island.
Pros: Taquile is perfect to calm down a little, enjoy the silence and nature. The blankets keep you warm in the Peruvian winter nights. Ines is a lovely host. She told us her story, cooked tasty dinner, prepared awesome breakfast and let us know a little bit about Taquile's culture. She licked us up from the harbour, thus did everything to make our stay comfortable and pleasant.
Cons: Everything was perfectly fine. People staying a night at Taquile should know that comfort is lower than in bigger cities, instead you can enjoy the nature and silence.
Cons: Can hear everything in your private room and bathroom.
Pros: Very nice and calm place with friendly people.
Cons: It's very difficult to access from puno if someone wants to go by their own. There is only one public ferry at the morning to reach the place. This is serious matter, property owner should mention about it in the website.

Pros: Breakfast was lovely with lots of delicious choices. Dinner was outstanding and our host was delightful and so helpful!
Pros: Only Staff were super friendly and good chef!
Cons: Location, is far away from everything, is not a hotel, is a "hostel". The best room of the house was ultra cold, humid dark, all is like done like more than 30 years ago! We all had a super bad night. Very disappointed and could not understand for what we paid 330$ and would like to claim the money back for the accommodation.
