The hotel was warm, friendly and clean. The breakfast was particularly good as it was cooked fresh.
Hotel location close to city and highway
The breakfast choice was very good The bed & pillows were very hard
Easy to find, be easier if direction of travel on M62 was mentioned Radio facility did not work
The calm air and proffessionalism of all the staff, made me feel very welcome and secure. The checking out time could have been a little later at the weekends.
It was convenient to the M62 The Television did not have cefax, Breakfast was extra
Well mannered helpfull staff.Good facilities and set just out of town away from noise.Good standard of cleanliness Menu in restaurant not very accomodating. Not a lot to choose from
The hotel was quite good in all areas I thought the quality of food for dinner and breakfast was very poor
location and pool
Really helpful staff Hotel is shabby and needs updating
Pleasant staff, comfortable room. Good breakfast, good price. Central location None
The staff were very welcoming and helpful eg we were able to leave our luggage and pick it up later. The room was clean, quiet and pleasant and the facilities good. Nothing...all good
The staff were excellent, made sure everything was to our satisfaction. Nothing
The staff were extremely helpful, polite, and welcoming on every level. the rooms were very warm and very clean, and we had an excellent nights sleep. The breakfasts were freshly cooked to order and there was plenty of variety. The hotel was very close to the town centre.
Attentive and eager to please staff. Good breakfast Central location makes for easy walking to town centre Some aspects of cleaning.
Very central, friendly staff. Comfy room. None whatsoever
helpful staff, lovely and warm on a freezing weekend, comfey beds, and central to city. no bar, but reccommended great real ale pub 5mins walk away.
Good breakfast, excellent staff, clean and comfortable room. No bar or lounge.
Hotel needed some TLC around the edges but staff very helpful. Good value. Furrniture in the room needed updating.
I found the cambridge lodge to be in great location, staff friendly and room very clean and comfortable
The staff were very pleasant and the room was very comfortable. The hotel is ideally positioned Waiting for a table at breakfast time
hotel.food.leisure club and staff all round should give a moore poular daily paper
What did I like - the friendly efficiency of staff at checking in; the ambience of the room. i didn't use the pool and leisure facilities but i shall return and definitely take advantage of these next time.
The facilities available to guests were excellent as was the overall value for money for the room and rate. There were steep steps to get to the reception area from the car park with no signs to show where the lift or ramp was for disabled/mother and baby access was. There were no designated parking bays for mother & baby either. Also, I found the drinks and food a little expensive, especially when there was an excellent family pub/restaurant across the road, which were happily taking the hotel's guests! Maybe this is something they should look at and act upon to make a big difference to the level of service to their guests.
we got an early check in (11.15am) and late check out (1pm). the leisure facilities were excellent. the room was spacious & comfortable. nothing
Customer service was very good indeed. Nothing was too much trouble. Leisure facilities were outstanding. No reason to complain about any aspect of the hotel.
Leisure facilities overpriced
Firealarm going of in middle of night and radiator rattling all night had worst night sleep if I could I'd of asked for a full refund
The facilities and location was good. Pub/restaraunt across the way as an option to inhouse. Big car park so parking no problem. Room looks nice but everything sort of feels dated. Bath/shower, not just shower and water was hot. Having a pool is all well and good, even paying £5 to use it. But needing to use it at 6am to avoid having to share with large numbers of none residential visitors makes it somewhat impractical. The Hotel also promotes Party/Wedding events, so expect 'disturbance' to run late into the night, even when located on 'premium' top floor. Promoting TV channels to find you only get about 10, with only one none freeview is misleading. Really felt it was expensive for what was delivered.
it was relaxing
Spa facilities, free internet, confortable bed, good tv choice. Terrible food in restaurant and in bar, terrible food choice for breakfast, there was not even boiled eggs..
friendly and welcoming - good level of quality Maybe some dried / fresh fruit with the continental breakfast
very friendly and helpful staff which makes you feel incredibly welcome and like you are vip guests. clean room, decent facilities, excellent breakfast.
The staff could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. The food and service were some of the best I have ever sampled. First class in every respect.
Everything. I greatly enjoyed the Hotel, Moss Lodge completely. The workers there also so easy to talk and speak friendly. They act what we want to before we notice. So impressive hotel, Moss Lodge. Nothing.
Very comfy and cosy and staff couldn't be more helpful.
all very good no
The whole experience, from being shown into the lounge and offered drinks on arrival to being shown out when we left, was sheer delight! The staff are wonderful, rooms spotless and bed very comfy, brilliant shower and fabulous food. Can't fault anything and we have booked to stay again in February when we go up for a party! No!!
Good hotel. Friendly staff. Not much. Room was a bit small.
pauline was very nice and looked after us ensuring we were ok and everything was to our satisfaction. the hotel and people looking after us was first class very happy nothing
I was on a short business trip and needed to stay for one night. I therefore needed a bed. I could have chosen a 2-3 star functional hotel, but found a 5 star restored mill owner house with very friendly staff for similar money. My room was very comfortabel with some nice touches - a jug of fresh milk in the fridge. No Sky so could not watch the Champions League (there was freeview).
Location Too expensive, tv is very small, there was only 3 or 4 channels available on the tv, the shower was broken, the bill can only be settled by cash or cheque but we were not advised of this until we came to leave and were informed that we could walk half a mile to an atm.
Clean, modern, good facilities, excellent staff, good food. Evening meal is a little expensive.
Always stay here when we come to visit family in Nelson/Burnley. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Cleanliness is top notch. Breakfast is great - lots of choice. Would def recommend and always return!! Bed was too soft this time not usually though. Also had a dodgy room door that wouldnt automatically close - we had to make sure it was pulled tight. No big deal in the scheme of things!!
The Hotel was very clean and we received a warm welcolme on arrival and checked in with the minimum of fuss to a clean, comfortable and well laid out room. We also enjoyed the food. There were none
the staff were pleasant, and the room was clean & comfortable breakfast was more than we expected
Very friendly and helpful staff Clean Good parking Excellent room Comfy bed Good in room facilities Safe - a night staff protected details of my room number when I had a problem of a key (there was another guest in reception) which I appreciated Excellent value for money None
Comfortable bed, clean room, fairly quiet. Bed sitting area spacious. No drawers or proper wardrobe. No hanging space for 2 sets of towels. Breakfast poor. Staff did not adhere to environmental standards regarding re-using our towels.
Staff friendly and helpful. Evening meal over priced and not particularly good. Would eat elsewhere is stayed again.
Comfortable and functional. Staff were very good Coffee machine not working in main area.
Best place to stay in Burnley. Have previously stayed at Holiday Inn Express Burnley in Jan 2009. Can not fault the place
Although the complimentary breakfast was good, the refusal to top up two of the hot items was just odd. There was still an hour of breakfast, about 20 people in the dining room and 5 individual people asked and the staff refused to bring out more of two items which have run but brought out more of the other times. Is there a one tin of beans limit??
We came to the hotel as we were attending a funeral the next day...so we didn't have much time to spend there, we had a comfortable room.,and enjoyed breakfast. Didn't like there was not enough toiletries in the bathroom...only enough for one, even then, one person couldn't shower with the size of bottle.
the full breakfast, hot water from the shower, cleanliness of the rooms and comfort of the bed. ,the prices on the drinks.
The breakfast was delicious and the restarante and staff made it a pleasant experience. The fact that the headboard wasn't safe and the tv had parts missing, and the remote had missing backs and missing tiles in the bathroom
Noisey residents in adjoining room, child crying all night
Friendly staff; excellent food.
Staff were generally very polite and helpful. Good value for money I pre-paid £21 for my dinner via the internet but no-one at the hotel seemed to know what 'dinner' actually covered, in many cases the items on the menu does not amount to £21. I think it needs clarification on the internet.
We had an illness in family and hotel staff were very helpful. Also, we were going to a match and they gave good advice, particularly barman who was at 1968 European Cup Final !!
staff were extremely helpful at all times and room facilities were of very high standard for the price charged for the room. food i.e evening meal was also very good (I did not have breakfast as I left for work at 6.30 am)Incidentally I have already re-booked the hotel for another 3 nights this week No complaints about anything
Quality of food en-suite to room was shower room only
Good friendly Hotel
Hotel staff were very friendly and courteous. Overall, for the weekend, excellent value for money.
Refurbishment of room good. Accessibility of room. Twin room for myself and daughter (14) who was training for cycling racing next day at Manchester Velodrome. The walls were like cardboard and we heard everything that was going on in the next room all night (sex). Therefore no sleep. How should we complain?
Comfort and cleanliness Noisy room next to store Strange notion of advanced pay
Cleanliness of room and grounds were excellent, always a winner with me. On the website breakfast was offered at £11.50. Upon arrival was informed that it could be purchased for £7.50, if that price had been offered online I would have bought it.
Clean, neat and quite modern Nothing
I found the staff very pleasant, and the room comfortable The bar was never staffed, and it smelt of stale smoke, even though i was the only one in there.
everything its the secound time ive stayed for 2 weddings i loved it will defo coming in the future.
very comfortable bed Not happy at all, was woken by my partner at 4am as his arm was covered in blood, we found small pieces of glass in the bed, reported it to reception who said they would talk to room service but did not offer any compensation
Had an excellent dinner in the restaurant, lovely food and good wine choice. Also the bed was larger than in most hotels and very comfy too. Bathroom was a bit small, and had no window or extractor so got quite humid/wet.
The location and ambience of Holdsworth House, the Millienium garden and the peaceful setting. The staff were courteous and very helpful, but unobtrusive. No comments
I have stayed at Holdsworth House a couple of times now - it is a great place made more special by the staff, all of which are very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was excellent however there is no need to charge a supplement for cooked breakfast We arrived at 9 pm - it was a struggle to get food at this time. Also we had requested twin beds but got a double however it was changed after about a half hour- last thing you need after a long day
Very helpful staff, especially with regard to children, great food. Unimaginative room, small bathroom.
Staff were extremely helpful, polite and professional, a real credit to the hotel. Quite cold in the rooms, heating didn't appear to be working. Bathroom was quite tired in appearance.
Friendly and helpful statt, who went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our stay.
very enjoyable i would visit again
The gardens of the hotel, beautiful sank garden, excellent food and the coffee, very poor and thin and we mentioned this to the manager
Pretty good but the food was pretentious and not quite there. The Chef needs to be told to the simple things well and let the food speak not the menu.
Staff freindly and welcomeing, room clean and well equiped, food excellant. None
To be honest it served the freshest breakfast I have ever had and I have travelled a lot over the years. Not very extensive in choice but if you like English breakfast it could not have been better.
Amazing location and fantastci Victorian features Slightly dated decor although clean and tidy
roooms are all indivualy decorated on this occasion we had 4 poster bed in room n/a
Good location and a beautiful building. We had a ground floor room for the first night, which we found rather dark, although a pleasant room. We were easily moved to a first floor room with super views of Pendle Hill. A lovely large room. The restaurant was most attractive, with a reasonably priced menu. Good food and friendly helpful staff.
Nice area. Good parking. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. n/a
It was quiet and had the feel of a small guest house, but with far more facilities. A pleasant environment, i liked the secluded feel to the place. Compared with many other places i thought it was very fair value, in spite of some cheap and nasty room fitments. Breakfast was very good, and promptly served even when the place was very busy. The shower in the ensuite bathroom was dire, well out of date and the shower door was broken and would not close properly. Overall, they seemed to use cheap and easily breakable fitments in the room.
The room was lovely with lots of space and beautiful furniture ~ the bar and dining room have the most fantastic ceilings ~ all in all it was a lovely place to stay ~ and we would recommend it to anyone. Long wait for our breakfast to be cooked on the first morning.
Food very good, staff excellent, friendly Room rather cold, television not in good position.
Staff excellent and very friendly. Free WiFi. Decent TV and freeview. All offered for a good price. Room was very cold even with the radiator on full all the time. The windows are old floor to ceiling single pane ones and therefore impossible to try and keep the room warm. No radiator in the en suite meant this was even colder.
Nice & peacefull. The room was cold so requested an additional heater. Although it was summer, Hotels should ensure that the rooms are warm when you arrive.
the rooms are of good size food is nice but waayyyy to pricey i have been charges twice on my debit card for the room, the staff is no not helpful. i spoke to someone over the was then went into the hotel spoke to them again about this matter was told refund will be done in 24hours and im still waiting for a refund 10 days later. the service is awful.
Bistro food was excellent - children where welcome. Didn't like that the children couldnt use the pool in sunday morning before we checked out - they were very disappointed only could go in 1pm until 5pm. Also service was very slow at breakfast on sunday morning and not much food left - no good value for money for what we paid for breakfast.
Use of pool and spa area.
I stayed at the hotel with my daughter for two nights and we have a fantastic time. The staff were friendly and the facilities excellent. I will definately be going back. Well done!!
The gym and the pool/spa complex. Reception were very helpful Breakfast a little expensive
The food quality was exellent and restaurant staff friendly. The reception staff were however not rude but not frindley or engaging. Long wait for service while thry sat in their back office, A hotel that thinks its 4Star but isnt quite there
Convenient location for my business commitments, easy to find and easy to get to.The gym was good; I always look for somewhere with those facilities. Gym machines are tired and need servicing, e.g quite a few of the the headphone connections are broken. The piped music in thew gym was too loud.
Spacious with facilities including free intertnet access, Only stayed B & B so acnnot comment on food. Bar was helpful! The hot water was not hot. I understand they had a problem and were dealign with it.
Comfort of the rooms,leisure availability
Excellent food. The hotel was lightly booked (4 tables in restaurant used)so it seemed unnecessary to make me walk 500 yds to the farthest point in the building and up a floor.Next time I will request a closer room to reception
The restaurant room was too warm ...
Friendly staff and most pleasant ambience. Excellent breakfast and evening meal. There seemed to be an extractor fan blowing outside all night.
The warmth of the hotel on a cold day I would have liked a teaspoon in the bedroom to stir my hot chocolate
The atmosphere in the resteraunt / bar was excellent and the food was fantastic The location is difficult to get to, particularly at night. Don't put the postcode in a Sat Nav!!!
Stayed in the best room which was fabulous staff extremely pleasant Vegetarian menu limited, a comment to vegetarians to ask us to cook it is reccommended
Food and the staff were excellent. The staff made you feel very welcolm
Very attentive staff who helped to make you feel special. A perfect get away from everyday life
prego restaurant small room
Quietand it has a very good restaurant.
Size of room and bathroom as well as comfort staff very helpful
restaurant was great didn't like the shower in my room as it was set up for a wheel chair user so didn't go up very high.
The bathroom The attitude of the receptionist
Lovely hotel, staff very nice. very good value for mony especially as breakfast was included in the price.
The room was very clean and the beds were fantastic.
no one rushes you food ha improved we were fine but others were maoning how long it took to get the eggs for their breakfast room 101 we had we arrived about 20 hundred hours window had been left opened net curtain was out of window and wet and heating was off we were tired and cold after a 6 hour journey my husband had to climb on chair to close window and he manage to turn heating on fire alarm went off when in bath but no one annouce it was false alarm got out quickly and then fire alarm went off
the room it was clean and tidy and comfortable
The cooked Breakfast was warm / cold
We wanted a hotel within walkling distance from theatre and restaurants that was affordable and comfortable. This hotel ticked all the boxes. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast plentyful and good. Room clean and tidy. Price excellent. Would recommend it if you want to stay in town for a quick overnight stay.
We loved the room. The bed was a four poster bed and we had a warm and very comfortable heater in the room. The food and service was excellent, the staircase and stained glass windows were stunning and everywhere we wanted to go for shopping etc was very close. More people should be enjoying this beautiful hotel. We loved everything. There was nothing the staff wouldn't do for us as far as service and directions to different venues.
leaving The lack of sleep due to the room being next to the function room. The breakfast you cheap, cold and took over 25 mins to arrive, staff did not care at all. Lack of any kind of staff interaction, had to ask for everything, nothing ever offewred. The room was very old, the roof in the bathroom had no paint on it, all peeled off. Not worth £85 for the stay. Letter of complaint written, no response.
Pleasant bar and restaurant Spiders in the bathroom. Very cramped room for 2 people Long up and down stairs trek to the room until we found a shorter route via the restaurant. Very noisy plumbing woke us up at 5am
The staff were very friendly and helped with restaurants and travel arrangements etc.
The hotel had a nice ambience and some impressive features. The room was comfortable and quiet. My wife particularly liked the Lavender spray for the pillows which did contribute to a good nights slweep. There are a lot of stairs to negotiate yo get to the room.
Relaxed and excellent food
The room was great and well equipped and decorated nicely but got very cold at night ad the bed wasn't very big at all. It wasn't a full double. The main restaurants food at night was extremely fancy and didn't have any less fancy options. The area around the hotel was ok for a night away but not for sigjtseeing. The hotel staff were very robotic when speaking to you and some were even rude. I paid £90 for one night and was disappointed with overall service.
The staff were always extremely friendly and helpful. Being a Vegetarian it can often be a problem to get a good choice of food, but I was pleasantly surprised when almost any request for a variation of the menu was met with no fuss at all. We had an issue with the rooms, however, after changing twice we were very satisfied with our room. Yet again the staff were very obliging and we did not feel that we were a nuisance (well I hope not anyway).
Very nice hotel given the area. The original house has been restored to a high standard which gives a feeling of staying at an expensive country house hotel. All the bedrooms are contained in a purpose built annex with modern facilities and it was quiet overnight. Easy to find and only 5 mins from nearest main road junction. Very good breakfast but if not included in the room rate was £14.95 per head which is expensive. Nice lady in charge - pity she could not oversee the evening service as well. We stayed on a Monday and ate in the resturant as there is nothing else much locally that looked worth a visit. Menu - both a la Carte and Table d`hote - offered a good selection. Our evening was let down by haphazard service. All the waitresses were friendly and helpful but it lacked a Maitre D` and/or some basic management. This also applies to the bar. Its just a bit amateurish which is a pity given the cost of staying there and the general ambience of the hotel which is rather pleasant. Our room also needed a bit of TLC. The loo seat hinges were loose and the shower head needed cleaning or replacing. Our room looked like it was last given a makeover about 10 years ago but it was comfortable in a slightly old fashioned way. Rooms a good trek from reception, bar, resturant etc. Also lots of staircases up and down. My wife got lost every time but it would be interesting to see what the hotels policy is if you were disabled or had young children/prams etc as we did not see any lifts. I assume that there are bedrooms at ground level so its worth asking when booking.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a disappointment compared with previous visits.
