Free luxury transport to the train station if needed. Comfy beds that you won’t want to leave. All-included amenities in the room and mini-bar. Friendly and professional service.
Cons: Value for the breakfast could have been better. The offering was great in quality but limited in variety. This is not a problem in a one-night stay but we stayed two nights and we had to repeat 80% of the meal.

Pros: 15~20mins walk from JR. hotel offers transport which is very nice. but I also like walking that path , super relaxing. welcoming drink and snacks are really cool excellent service. feel very welcoming and relaxing. very nice public bath with nice products breakfast is good and with nice view
Cons: the little balcony is not as nice as expected. the suana seems too hot ? bicycle can only be used freely for 1hr... with this price of the hotel, I think it can be a favor for tenants to use freely during the day. actually any choices of the pillow? not a special problem of this hotel but of most hotels... but I expect a hotel with this class should offer more options. I didnt find /ask. if there is, would be good.

Cons: nothing particular.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice old fashioned room with plenty of space. Was good to have windows which opened so we could have fresh air ventilation rather than AC. Located about halfway between the Station and the tourist shopping Ginza. Staff very helpful. The driver of the shuttle to the station gave us his umbrella when he realised we didn’t have one. One staff member spoke excellent English.

5.8 Okay
Pros: Clean.
Cons: Distance from Shinkansen. Firm mattresses. Like wow. I mostly did not enjoy Karuizawa.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The overall design of the hostel is great, a very beautiful place in general. The bunk bed itself was spacious enough for a girl but i would imagine it to be a little tight for bigger man. Still, everything is very clean, nicely designed and i enjoyed the stay thoroughly. The onzen was also great. The location is not difficult to find, just a short walk from Naka-Karuizawa station.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The property was close to Nakakaruizawa station and within a walking distance from Harunire Terrace. This property was an renovated old Japanese house. They did a great work transforming an old house to a hostel. The garden was charming. The staff were professional. The shared room was spacious and charming as well. They had a common space with wooden tables and chairs, sofa, TV, books shelf, which was really comfortable. Breakfast was very good, though the dishes were generally a bit salty.
Cons: Shared room - It would be good they placed a soft reminder to all guests about the house rule about noise and quiet hours. Other guests, especially in a couple or group, continued chatting in the evening and in the morning. It woke me up early in the morning and disrupted my sleep. Bath room - One of the hair dryers was broken and was not fully functional. The other was working ok but too weak to dry my hair. I realized that the power was only 550w max. Wish they could get a better hairdryer. Shared bath room - I visited the shared bath past 6 p.m. but it was not open and I could not enjoy it. Location - it was within a walking distance from the nearest station and Harunire terrace, however it was really dark after the sunset and it did not look safe to walk the surrounding area at night. It would be good if the hostel rented a bike.

Pros: The breakfast was excellent. The only think is that I didn't like the paper napkin at the breakfast table.

Pros: It's a classic hotel and a gem at that, with a great bar and superb location in the forest.
Cons: The less expensive rooms are low value for the price and in need of a refresh.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I love the location of this hotel, also its long history and heritage. Staffs are very nice too~
9.2 Excellent
Pros: historical hotel, nice location surrounded wood, very kind staff and beautiful hotel inside...
Cons: staff seemed not to comfortable speaking in English
6.7 Good
Cons: The hotel is too much proud of its old history. We did not get money’s worth for the room and the food. We dined in a Japanese restaurant in the hotel. The food was poor in quality and quantity. The breakfast costs at ¥3,500 for a small plain omelet with 2 pieces of sausages. It’s more than a joke. Beds in the room were old and had no sense of comforts. We had a terrible experience.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice historic hotel to experience the early 1900s feel John Lennon’s tea, apple pie and their rainbow trout are outstanding!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The owners were amazing! Steve was so kind! He and I communicated often, before my friend and I stayed at his hotel. He picked us up from the train station. He warmed up our late dinner that we bought from the store too. He prepared the jacuzzi/private onsen bath, so my friend and I could use it; at short notice! Breakfast the following morning was so good. Loved the french toast! Our room was clean and nice. He even made a map for us, to help us with our sightseeing the next day! I personally loved the Hawaiian theme of the hotel. Steve informed us that winter is off-season in Karuizawa. But if I'm ever in Karuizawa again, I will definitely stay in his hotel! I would love to come back in Autumn. I highly recommend his hotel. He is really welcoming to foreigners.
Cons: Everything was great! No complaints!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host give his opinion after listening to your travel plan in Karuizawa and suggest good restaurants. What i like most is he took me to local supermarket to buy sweet gifts, what a smart idea!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Steven, the owner, was absolutely wonderful and the food was incredible!!!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Steven and his wife were great hosts and the stay overall was excellent. They always went extra miles to search for us places we're interested to visit and to help us feel at home. The most impressive thing is the cooking skill of Steven! He's a superb chef and the food was always out of our expectation! He made us western breakfast for the first day, then Japanese, then french! And sometimes they would serve Hawaiian dinner, it costs 3,000 Yen per person but it's worthy of money! Very delicious and fulfilling! Highly recommend everyone to try it if they schedule a dinner! The bedroom was very neat and clean, and nicely decorated with a Hawaii style, with the temperature that we could adjust ourselves. It kept us warm in the snowy night we spent. The beds and pillows were very comfy, so we could take some good rest after driving a few hours from Narita. We stayed 3 nights there.
Cons: nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We arrived by car, and the location was very convenient to find, even in the dark. The place was very quiet and peaceful, a little ways off the main road. Breakfast of french toast was delicious, cooked by Steven and his wife, both very friendly and inviting people. They were so helpful in their recommendations of places to see, along with clear instructions of how to get there. Will definitely go back if in Karuizawa! :))))
Cons: Not a major problem, but the rooms could be a bit more sound proof. Could hear people with their luggage checking in and out.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Steven and his wife are definitely good host of this hotel.Steven made his handwriting paper for us that make us know how to go to the destination and help us a lot .The breakfast and dinner cooked by Steven are really delicious and different style food each day.In a word,Steven and his wife are so nice……老板和老板娘都非常友好。
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The host is very helpful n give advice according to yr needs to ensure you enjoy your trip … feel blessed to have such a good host!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Steven and his wife are great hosts! We got to them during the typhoon and immediately suggested is an early check in at 10 AM! They took great care of us during our short stay and even texted us the day after to suggest alternative ways to get to our destination. The room is big and comfortable and highly recommend their place.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is amazing!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hot spring and dinner set is great!
Cons: the breakfast is disappointing.
7.5 Good
Cons: Everyone was very helpful and nice. The hotel was very generous with the different give aways. But they are kind of stuck in the '80, design wise. Beige (and a bit shabby) rooms
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The tatami bedding
Cons: The towels too small
8.3 Excellent
Pros: nice location!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very down to earth inn. Within walking distance to shops. Very near to Shopping Outlet, Train Station and Ski Resort. Very friendly staff.

7.1 Good
Pros: The views are amazing, the beds were comfy (if you like firm). Breakfast was great and plenty of options. Staff were very helpful once we could work out what each other was saying. We were fortunate to have a family member who could speak some Japanese.
Cons: The language barrier was a bit of a problem. Probably should state that their are no English speaking staff really. The pillows not so good if you are not used to Japanese style pillows, rice one side and really firm the other.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location between the mountains, calm and peaceful.
Cons: Room cleanliness is bad. The room carpet is full of stains which makes me difficult to find walk. The carpet is also not cleaned properly as my foot became black when I walked couple of times. Buffet breakfast is not at all convenient for people who don’t prefer Japanese food and varieties. As I don’t prefer Japanese food, I had in total only 2 options to eat, both of them are bread. Bathrooms r old style and didn’t get the hotel feeling at all.
5.8 Okay
Pros: View from hotel room, onsen hot springs, meals at restaurants, karaoke
Cons: We were not happy with strong smoking smell even though we reluctantly booked smoking rooms as no smoking rooms were not available for six of us. All room walls and windows needed to be cleaned.
2.9 Mediocre
Cons: Room was very stinky and staff at the front on first day at the time of checkin was Not professional.
7.5 Good
Pros: This hotel is on the way to our house in Nagano after landing in Narita. Nice view of the Myogi mountain range and the golf course. The bedroom is usually comfortable and cover our needs. Pleasant onsen is also available and appreciated.
Cons: Our bedroom this time had a refrigerator that did not work. Idem for the heating system. Quite disappointing as we have used this hotel repeatedly. The hotel staff actually does not recognise this point. A "welcome back" would be appreciated.
