The Sanyi Gandan B&B provides a great place for travelers to relax after a busy day. In their spare time, guests can explore the hotel's surroundings. The Sanyi Gandan B&B is one of the top accommodation choices in Miaoli.
Pros: Eric the owner is a guy coming from Taipei. He moved his family to Sanyi and really has a passion to run his minsu business. He is knowledgeable and able to provide you with tips to travel around even beyond Miaoli County. The room is clean and neat. The shower pressure is good and the water temperature is stable so very satisfying after a day out. I was doing the hike up the Huoyanshan so had to get up very early in the morning. Eric was so caring to provide me with a huge rice dumpling and soya milk so I could take the breakfast along with me on the road. At the back of the minsu there is a stream and you could see from the room window the lovely heart shaped boulder installation done by Eric!
Cons: Nothing. I wish I could have spotted this minsu earlier and stayed there for more days.
Pros: Friendly staff and always update useful information for us
Pros: 1.location 2.the introduction and suggestion by owner 3.the owner is friendly & informative
Pros: The minsu owner was very friendly and offered plenty of recommendations pre and during the trip. He kindly provided a clothes dryer when he saw that we are washing our clothes during the stay.
Pros: The owner is supeeeeerrr friendly! He let us used the bathroom after hiking even tho we were checked out already, and he drove us to the restaurant for dinner!
Cons: The place is kinda far from any restaurant to eat. But there is a huge Hilife near it.

With a stay at Sanyi Dream Garden Homestay in Sanyi, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Lihpao Land and Sanyi Wood Sculpture Museum. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: quiet place, good and filling breakfast; huge bed
Cons: no mountain view as promised in the booking; not possible to find a reception - luckily a local woman helped us to find someone who would let us in our room; partially see-through glass dividing the bathroom for the room
Pros: The environment is good
Pros: perfect service and facilities. owner is very nice and fast response.
Pros: The lady boss is very friendly. The exterior of the room might look normal but once you go into the room, you will get to see the surprise awaiting you and deco of the room is nice, bed is comfy. Highly recommended
Pros: Room and bed is comfortable and clean. Host is extremely welcoming. She fetched us from the railway station to hotel and bought us to pack our dinner as we arrived late at night without dinner. Great amount of effort to decorate her rooms. Recommended places of interest to us patiently. Introduced taxi driver to us to save our hassle. As we returned back to the hotel drenched from heavy rain from mountain climbing, host called to ask if we would like to have dinner after a long day and drove us to the night market. Recommended us to some good food and treated us her favourite pancake! Great stay and awesome host. I love my experience at sanyi.
Cons: Location is just beside many other hotels in sanyi, a little hard to get there as there are up slope but host drove us back and forth whenever she has the time! Highly recommended!!
Pros: Comfortable room and beds.
Pros: It is not too far away (15-30 minutes car ride) from some of the recommended sightseeing spots within the area and the apartment is on a rather quiet hill side of the town. The cable television was great entertainment since it has a few english channels.
Cons: The transportation to the apartment was rather inaccessible and we had to take cabs/private cars in and out of the area so that it isn't too taxing on us. Cabs aren't always readily available in the evenings as it is a more remote small town. The restaurants in the area mostly closes at 8.30pm so getting late dinner/supper was a little difficult. Convenient shops are not located near (we tried walking about 15-20 minutes away from property).
Pros: 黃姊姊 tries to help us as much as she can, and she drove us to the bnb from Sanyi train station on the day that we arrived. Breakfast coupons could be refunded to cash (if you feel like having smth else) upon request. Location is near to 木雕街 and 木雕博物館.
Cons: The rack for hanging clothes in the toilet was rusty and directly in front of the shower head. There were persistent mosquitoes in the room which forced us to get repellent spray and bracelets because we couldn't sleep well the whole of the first night. Location is quite inconvenient if you don't have a car or license to rent a motorbike. The nearest convenience store to the bnb is quite far away.
Pros: Lady boss was very friendly and gave us a ride to Shengxing train station.

Pros: Clean & comfortable, the blanket is very warm!
Cons: A bit walking distance from the bus stop.
Pros: It was comfortable and we felt at home.
Pros: Newly opened, the last floor room was kinda small but neat, with access to the rooftop. Owners family makes you feel home, they are a music lovers in the city of Sax factories!
Pros: quite, clean, friendly staff....

Pros: Very nice host, hospitality, you feel like a guest in the family home. Great vegetarian organic food for breakfast
Cons: No shops and restaurants nearby, you need to drive. Cold in the room in Winter, very cold in the bathroom, the only chance to dry it is to open the window. The shower makes all bathroom floor wet. There is enough space for shower cabin, I think it would solve all problems there.

Cons: Young neighbor came over to hassle the dogs.
Pros: The owners don't speak english but still very helpfull and kind
Pros: Very friendly, helpful owners. Supplied dinner in return for a small gratuity. Great evening with fellow guests offering their food and drink around.
Cons: The bedroom walls were far from sound-proof with conversations loud enough to keep you awake - the sound of snoring was truly penetrating!!
Visitors to Miaoli will find that the Xiangyang Tianyuan is a fantastic accommodation choice. This property features Free Wi-Fi in designated areas. At the end of a busy day, travelers can unwind and relax in the hotel or go out and enjoy the city.
Pros: The hotel is very cute and comfortable, we are upgraded to a bigger room for our stay, bed was very comfortale with good shower. Fridge and hot water are avaliable downstairs. The track of tourist train is not far away downhill and you can see little trains passing by. The breakfast is really great and tasty, very refreshing for the start of a holiday morning. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Thanks so much！Just a little note that you have to drive there, parking is available.
Pros: Beautiful location, quirky character, peaceful, wonderful hosts, spacious comfortable room, etc etc.
Pros: Clean room, bedsheets and comforter. Friendly owner.

Pros: Owners were so helpful and friendly. It was very comfortable, quiet and clean. Good place to do some work
Cons: Far from Sanyi train station but the owner gave me a lift to the station when I was leaving which was much appreciated
Pros: Willy and Mandy are fantastic host. They picked me up from train station, and helped me to find a scooter rental shop (the first couple I tried would not rent to foreigners). They gave lots of useful advice for sightseeing, and helped with the language barriers. As the name implies there is also some very nice art pieces to enjoy while you are at the house.
When you stay at N-square Hostel in Yuanli, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Triangle Rush Exhibition Hall and Shuang-liao Levee. Featured amenities include express check-in, express check-out, and luggage storage.
Pros: Reasonably clean. Friendly staff. Good location. Nice and quiet. Air con worked well in the the four bed room. Shower pressure was good.
Cons: Slightly old building and rooms.
Pros: The place was clean, simple and it was not pricey. And it is near Yuanli's train station!
Cons: Not much privacy (we were unlucky and had 2 people snoring out of 4) and not much place for the luggage but it was fine for the price we paid.
Pros: Everything. The host: This host understands exactly what a backpacker needs, but I am sure he will understand any type of traveller. He has a very social, kind and warm personality. Helpful where you need it, but as a true free spirit knowing when you don't. Full of life this guy. If not the best, certainly one of the best hosts ever in all my travels (over 15 months in total) in Taiwan. Highly recommended. His English is pretty well, though he stays (too) modest about it. The room: Simple, but clean. Maybe a bit small for the number of beds. Airco and fan. Bed tall enough for approximately 2.00m length. Hard bedbottom (which I prefer). Good WiFi. The showers and toilet: Clean with basic toiletries (bathing gel and shampoo) and enough space to hang/put your clothes, towels and personal toiletries. Livingroom: Cozy and spacious Extra's: Coffee machine, some cold drinks, washing machine. Location : Plenty of foods and shops nearby, near the trainstation. Town : Lovely little town, not too quiet, not too crowded, super friendly people everywhere. This is an example for Taiwanese tourism in general and the hostel should be the blueprint for foreign tourists. On top of all these positives, this man doesn't follow hip exaggerated money-grabbing trends in Taiwan. For what you get, the price is outstanding! In short, this is a place I would highly recommend!!!
Cons: That I realize one day I still have to leave!!! I keep postponing though...

Pros: Clean and comfortable, staff is nice
With a stay at Futen House villa in Sanyi, you'll be just steps from Guaizihu and Jishantu. Featured amenities include luggage storage and an elevator. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The surrounding is beautiful .... you can view the forest on the 2nd level. The property has seen better days but it has the rustic charm about it... quite romantic. The owners are genuinely friendly and caring... the breakfast is mostly homemade and delicious. The room is comfortable and clean and has the necessary amenities. A very very stratigic location to travel out to many places of interest. Just opposite is a restaurant you can taste Hakka cuisine. I cycled here but pushed my bike all the way up 4.3km to the house. It was exhilerating coming down.
Pros: Really great breakfast and place to stay. The host and the hostess is the local best!
Pros: 1. Hearty and healthy breakfast. Fresh homemade bread, delicious eggs, fruits. 2. Spacious loft room. Great for families. Spacious shower area. Lush greenery with birds fluttering outside - what a lovely way to wake up in the mornings. 3. Friendly owners. Waited for us on the day of check-in because they're worried we got lost. Also recommended places of interest.
Cons: 1. No WeChat/WhatsApp. So it may be tough to contact when we're on the road. 2. Harder than usual mattress. Pillows either too low or hard. Except for the discomfort, we've no other issues.

Pros: Absolutely wonderful experience, very nice staff went above and beyond by picking me up at train station, showing me around, and offering tips and arranging a taxi ride for my trip next day. Room was upgraded to a much bigger one with view, very clean and bed very comfortable. Two thumbs up ... :)
Cons: Toilet paper could be a little better.
Pros: A delightful young couple were hosts. They helped us plan our stay and phoned taxis etc. The host drove us downtown and ordered a local dinner for us. The wood sculpture museum was world class.
Cons: Location was excellent for our plans, but we are older and should probably have been more careful with our choice. Water all over the bathroom floor and no hand rail in staircase didn't feel very safe, but if you are younger would be no problem.
Pros: Room is beautiful and full of sunlight. Hotelier is open, kind just like our friend. I am very happy to be here and make friend with him. Breakfast is delicious. I hope to see him soon.
Pros: Big space and the mountain view was awesome.
With a stay at Bo Wu Guan Homestay in Sanyi, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Lihpao Land and Sanyi Wood Sculpture Museum. Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and a water dispenser. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Ms Huang is a very helpful, approachable and friendly host. She tended to all our needs and answered all our questions to the best she can. She even recommended a driver to take us to tour around the area and even planned an itinerary for us. She also personally drove us to the railway station after we checked out knowing that we didnt have transport there. The overall experience with Miss Huang was really good!
Cons: The bed was really hard and uncomfortable to sleep on. There was also a lot of mosquitoes and we had a lot of mosquito bites.
Pros: Our host was really nice and very helpful! She brought us to see fireflies on our first night (it was the season) She gave great advice in helping us to plan for our trips and also helped with some of our transport issues (due to our lack of it) Host was really enthusiastic and guided us really well. Thank you!
Pros: A real Taiwanese B and B. Friendly owner, big room (double bed with mattress upstairs) and clean. Nice lightning upstairs. It was quiet. Breakfast was delivered on the doorstep. We asked for a sandwich instead of rice balls. The chicken sandwich and milk tea was very tasty. We could park just across from the house. Fine for a short stopover.
Cons: Beds are Taiwanese: uncomfy, like sleeping on a floor. Bathroom is also typically Taiwanese: shower and toilet not separated. It was a bit smelly. The place is a bit hard to find. After checking in, the landlady took us to the room, a few streets away (closer to main street (museum).
Pros: The host Lisa is one of the nicest hosts that I have ever seen. She ensured we were comfortable and ate well and the rooms were adorable and clean.
Pros: Clear n comfortable. Ms Huang, the owner was extremely nice & patience. Never experienced or seen a lady like her so patience.
Cons: All good. No complaint except should provide some glasses but Ms Huang was fast in action when we requested for it
Pros: The owned lady was great, we got more than se wanted!
Cons: The location was a bit hard to find
Pros: The people there is friendly, food is nice and very fresh air.
Cons: Is abit far to go to some tourist spot and alot of mosquito
With a stay at Sanyi Sakura Resort in Sanyi, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Lihpao Land and Sanyi Wood Sculpture Museum. Featured amenities include a business center, an elevator, and coffee/tea in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Great stay with friendly host
Pros: Convenient to Wood Sculpture museum. Plenty of room for a family. Host was friendly and helpful and collected us from the railway station.
Cons: Bathroom doesn’t have a separate shower alcove so water goes all over the bathroom when you shower. Interior lighting was poor- no bedside lighting and room lamp had no bulb. Breakfast was average.
Pros: The nature beauty (away from the main street) and check-in.
Cons: The limited breakfast selection (probably due to the price paid) and the breakfast location (looks run down).
Pros: Great place. Everything was convenient.
Cons: A little too many mosquitoes, but they didn't bite us much. Also, the property is next to some big powerlines. But other than that, the scenery is quite beautiful.

Pros: Feeding and milking cows. Feeding of sheeps was not as fun as cingjing farm.
Cons: Bed bugs, small black blood sucking insects around the farm. We got biten so badly more than 10 bites per leg. Super regret going. Farm was average nothing special in my opinion. Facilities were very worn out. Rooms were like chalet instead of a hotel. Our neighbours were a group of youngster having a party, laughing loudly even after midnight. Breakfasy was not nice with limited variety. Definitely not worth the price we paid.
Pros: it was our 3rd time to Flying Cow and it was everything we had come to love about the place! Supremely well run. Great value for money and a wonderful time had by all!
Cons: It would have been nice to have more food options.
Pros: The entire setup,-activities, farm experience etc
Cons: Mattress was too bouncy .
Pros: Our daughter loves to feed the animals, and we enjoyed the DIY activities like milking the cow, making cupcakes, ice cream and letter bottles. The hotel upgraded us to a double story 6-bedder room as the room we booked had just finished renovation and smell of paint.
Cons: Some parts of the property is getting jaded and needs a face lift.
Pros: The breakfast was reasonable.
Cons: I hated the sandflies. Got bitten really badly! The room was nice and clean just that there's a problem with the room lock.
Cons: Check in staff did not want to help us carry luggage to our room (have to climb upstairs) but they do so for the tour groups. The free DIY activity was so DIY that we even have to wash the pots and all ourselves after the activity
Pros: Beautiful farm, nice scenary, very nice breakfast.
Pros: Good mix of activity for children and family.
Cons: I got severely bitten by bed bugs at Flying Cow Ranch and both legs were full of the bites and extremely itchy. Worst experience ever and it affected the remaining duration of my travel.
