Set in an old government building, that has been restored and furnished to an extremely high standard. The owners have a great eye for interior design and know exactly what you need for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was out of this world, fresh produce from the local market, fresh juice, great coffee, fresh bread, fresh cakes, charcuterie, eggs, and the simple offer of 'would you like anything else?' 7.5 Good
Pros: Room clean and quiet, bed very comfortable. Nice location by river.
Cons: Paper cups for tea/coffee, (only one of those on first night for 2 people staying) only one t-bag of each type . Only 5 coat hangers. Paid 15 euros a night for dog but he wasn't allowed in restaurant (too hot to leave him in car.) despite only 2 other people in there. Swimming pool area gated off but again dog not allowed in.

Pros: Very convenient for the centre of Rochefort - a 5 minute riverside walk into the centre. Quiet, onsite free parking. Very pleasant public areas - comfortable seating in the lounge area. Comfortable bedroom, modern bathroom. Altogether a very pleasant experience. Good breakfast - plenty of choice. Appreciated having a kettle & courtesy tray in the bedroom.
Cons: Restaurant was rather pricey in the evening. We chose to eat out at a local restaurant where there was a wide choice at a reasonable price.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location next to river and river path ideal for walks
Cons: Rooms were very dark. You expect small windows in a converted old building, but the decoration added to the dullness
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We stayed one night on our way back to La Rochelle airport, and this was much more reasonable than La Rochelle hotel prices and only 25 mins away. The hotel has recently been renovated and everything was very smart. The room was very comfortable, overlooking the swimming pool. The bathroom had a lovely walk in shower. We didn’t use them, but the coffee making facilities were very basic, just a few sachets of instant coffee and 2 paper cups. We ate in the restaurant, which had a very small menu but we enjoyed our meal. There is free onsite parking .very comfortable The staff were all very polite and friendly.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Large well decorated room with high quality fixtures and furnishings. Comfortable mattress, functional and elegant bathroom; a very nice room for €75. Nice courtyard for relaxing and a very complete breakfast. Bikes are stored in the central courtyard and it's close to the Euro Velo route. Excellent location (walking distance) to centre ville and the Maritime museum. The owners obviously fret over the small things and it definitely shows.
Cons: Nothing really although the room didn't have air conditioning--not a problem for me in mid September but something to think about in the summer.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Cute property, good location
Cons: The bed was a bit small, but probably it’s standard for this category in France- travelers from North America should pay attention to the “ standard double” bed size

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bedrooms were newly decorated and the beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms were nice with a good shower. The rooms were spacious for a family of four and the breakfast was excellent with homemade bread and jam. The owner was extra helpful as we were English and new to the town he recommended places to eat and where to go for a walk. Really wanted to try the burger place but unfortunately it was shut that evening. We will be back !

Pros: Mr LeMaire the owner of the hotel, was very friendly and passionate... He gave us nice tips on what to see in the region. Very clean hotel with rooms based on themes: we had the Africa room. We had a very nice value for money breakfast ! Just a perfect stay giving very positive energy .... on top we had some explanations and music on the French musical “Les Demoiselles de Rochefort’
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Owners very nice and very knowledgeable of the local history. Great breakfast... Exceptional croissants!
Cons: Very slippery shower, too high and dangerous.
7.0 Good
Pros: Nothing particular. It was just ok.
Cons: Tried to speak French but the owner insisted on speaking English. As I speak good French and was keen to practice, I feel he should have provided good customer service and spoke in my language of choice. Often speaking the local language is the reason people travel. We had room 21 and had to carry heavy luggage up 2 flights of stairs - no lift. Parking is a nightmare and we had a lot of difficulty finding somewhere and then had to move the car or be towed away.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable room and good continental breakfast
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very pleasant stay at Rochefort, just a few steps from the Marine Museum and the „Hermione“. Very friendly and helpful staff - thank you very much! The Breakfast was very good, with very good coffee-machine, a variety of bread, brioche, ham, cheese, even providing pancakes (which made it the favourite breakfast this vacation for our daughter) and a press for making fresh orange juice. We had a big room with large bathroom. We liked staying in an historic building, with high ceilings and window shutters, which fits if you come to explore the rich history of Rochefort itself. We would stay here again.
7.5 Good
Pros: Unique building, great location and intimate feel. The room are nicely decorated with brightly lit room
Cons: There is no elevator but fair enough for classic building

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very friendly and helpful
Cons: Being charged extra for taken with afternoon tea
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly. Lovely breakfast, great location.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Large room & bed, very clean. Hotel lacked charm. No lounge to relax in - chairs available in hotel foyer, so neither private nor comfortable. Only one garden-type chair in bedroom. Breakfast poor - considering it is attached to a thermal treatment establishment (for rheumatic and skin diseases) the breakfast choice was, basically, gluten (very low quality bread and pastries), dairy (no alternative plant milks) or sugar (jam or honey). Gave us indigestion and we cancelled our second breakfast and got a refund. The dinner menu was reasonably priced but as it consisted mainly of shell-fish we ate elsewhere. No free parking on-site. Had to move the car before breakfast to avoid paying high charges. As a special birthday treat it was very disappointing. The one evening we had a coffee in the bar two of the staff had a running argument during the meal-time..... If this had been our first visit to Rochefort we would not return.
Cons: See above
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and spacious
Cons: Breakfast , not many choice
7.5 Good
Pros: Large room, kingsize bed, good central location. Pleasant reception staff.
Cons: This hotel has got so much going for it, but the attitude of the restaurant staff really let's it down. With two small but well behaved children, I hoped for fast, friendly service but got the opposite - no smile, order taken as the people who came after us ate their main course (they'd had their entrée), no nibbles whilst waiting (unlike every other table), bad wine (let's palm off the bad stuff on the foreign mother) after which waiter was clearly in a strop because I had the temerity to complain, steak ordered 'a point' arrived 'bleu' .... then staff totally ignored us at breakfast, where there were no croissants and precious little left at 8h45, for guests paying 10 euros each. We had lunch and the following evening meal at Les Longitudes (next to the Corderie Royale) and at Brasserie Demoiselle (central square), which I can't recommend highly enough - excellent food and service by people who care.

Cons: Nothing really.
6.3 Good
Pros: Room stinked of dogs and had alergic reaction so left... Never again... Next to 24 hr burger palces
6.8 Good
Cons: Room very basic even for budget IBIs. Bed was little more than a piece of hard wood and a thin mattress. The room had separate toilet and shower but wash basin in room. Not as good as other budget Ibis.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Room was spacious shower was a little to open to the room for friends. Secure store offered for bikes
Cons: Some noise from the nearby road
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It was a very good use of the space. The lighting we very well design. Everything was very well thought through, including all the installations and the access to the hotel after the reception was closed for the day
Cons: There were lots of cigarette burns on the vynil sheet of flooring exactly in the part of the room that was supposed to feel cleaner and nicer -between the bed and the window
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We only had an overnight stay so the hotel was perfect for our requirements.
Cons: A proper bathroom would be an asset to the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is good and easy to reach by car, lots of parking spaces. The hotel facilities are very good, the breakfast was very good as well.

Cons: My wife banged her head severely. This was under the edge of the upper child bed. There should be a soft "underneath" under the upped child bed.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were exceptionally friendly and the venue was traditional and attractive. We visited the local area easily from the location. Breakfast was delicious. Our room was very comfortable with a lovely view over the garden.
Cons: Bathroom was a little dated.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The parking was great. There were only ever 4 cars parked in a car parked that probably had room for 20+
Cons: This hotel was unmanned. Someone appeared for check in, but at a later time than we were told by Booking.com. They were there at breakfast / for checkout but not inbetween. The restaurant was closed. No suggestions were made of alternative places to eat and we couldn't complain about lack of heating or batteries for the TV remote. The room wasn't cleaned ( we stayed 2 nights) and to top it all we were given and charged for a room with a double and single bed - we only wanted a double - but there was only the triple available on Booking.com. There were a max of 3 other rooms, out of at least 23 by the keys on the board, occupied
5.5 Okay
Pros: WE asked to a reservation in the restaurant. When we arrived, we were told that the restaurant was closed for annual holidays. Why didn't they tell us when we booked. What a miserable experience it was, staying here. It was my wife's birthday and we wanted something special. I was charged €98 via booking.com. If I had booked direct with the hotel, I would have paid €60 Is this giving me value for mony? I don't hink so. I might just have to start booking my hotels with another agency.
Cons: Lack of communication from the hotel. Why did they not tell me that the restaurant was closed?
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Helpful staff - filled our bottles with ice water - importsnt for cyclists on a hot day. Locked shed for bike storage. On edge of town so good for leaving town in the morning - close to Charente ferry.
Cons: Air conditioning was on timer and kept switching off - very hot night and we had to get up several times to switch on. Towel drier was switched off. Not walking distance into town, but only 10 mins by bike.

Pros: all was perfect
5.5 Okay
Pros: Having food available 24 / 7 is good. But's it's pre-prepared of course, so not great.
Cons: The hotel's facilities are OK, but only OK. My room was far too small as was the bathroom - and as a result the hotel's value for money reduces. They ran out of some items on the food menu, so I ate lasagne for three nights running.
