Wonderful charming inn, with extremely kind owners. Breakfast was delicious! We also enjoyed sitting by the fire in the evening.
I liked the location, the log fire, the first class English Breakfast which really set me up for the day ahead, the friendliness of the management, the decor and the spotless manner in which the guest house was kept - Oh, and the value for money! I had a small single room - just a little bit too small for a big chap, but I was, after all, staying in a 300 year old cottage! My private bathroom was well equipped but I would have preferred en suite facilities.
The lounge fire was lit at night and the smell of peat was really nice. The dining room was large and we had a table to ourselves . I would prefer self serve on breakfast starters ie cereal and fruit juice
Very good quality food for breakfast. Spacious, comfortable public arrears, with welcoming log fire. Internet access available.Friendly and welcoming staff. Country pub serving good beer and wholesome evening meals 1min walk away. Beautiful countryside accessible on foot from the front door. We found our double room a bit cramped.
relaxed cosey setting excellent breakfast nothing
The staff were very welcoming. The evening meal and breakfast were excellent. Clean, comfortable room. The Wifi internet connection did not work well
Very comfortable and a friendly welcome. Only sorry we did not stay longer.
The view from the window was very picturesque and the public bar was comfortable and rooms were ok. The water pressure from the shower was very disappointing, nearly had to help the water out, that was the same in both rooms that we booked.
Staff were very friendly and helpfull. The location and views were fab. Rooms were clean and bathrooms recently modernised. Had a problem getting hot water from shower but this was sorted out straight away by friendly receptionist.
the location no
evrything was good
The location, the kindness of staff and the views
The location is ideal for walking/rambling straight from the door. The view from the dining room window is superb.
friendly staff, pleasant surrounding, good food
Brilliant location at the head of Coniston Water with superb views. Lots of opportunity for countryside walks. Excellent breakfasts.
Excellent location. 5 minute stroll to the centre of Coniston.
Excellent breakfast - lovely setting - pleasant staff - very comfortable room - quiet setting. There was nothing to dislike about the hotel at all. The only problem was the wet weather made the path way up into the village extremely wet and muddy and walking on the road was not really safe. Wellingtons were essential! Perhas the local authority may re-surface given time and funding.
Breakfast is fantastic value here with plenty of choice. The hoteliers had prepared a guide to local walks which we were pleased we followed as we would not have found such lovely views without it. Good car parking. Rooms 1 & 2 on the back of the hotel have great country views but light sleepers may wish to request rooms on the front, away from car park and gentle hum of cellar cooling system
Good location. Quiet for a pub except when chiller is left on. Specials board meals good. Staff pleasant and helpful. Standard menu overpriced. Mattress in room 1 dire. Bathroom heater non functional.
Comfy country inn. Quiet location. Excellent breakfast.
The hotel was cosy and the staff friendly. The 'en suite' for the family room was accross the corridor !
the food and the relaxed feel nothing
