Pros: We stayed at Chart House as a family of five for a Saturday night at the end of July in three bedrooms (double, twin and single). Everything about Chart House was lovely. The rooms were very nicely decorated in keeping with the house and the en-suites though small were modern and looked very new. Everything was exceptionally clean. Breakfast was delicious - freshly cooked. Tracey was warm and helpful.

Pros: Great location near the beach. Room was very nice. Breakfast was excellent. Off-street parking was adequate for the size of the facility. Nice stay.
Cons: For us, the en-suite bathroom was small but acceptable. Traveling with quite a bit of luggage, the stairs to our room were a bit narrow to negotiate.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent room and breakfasts. Staff also top rate.
Cons: Leaving
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sarah and Jean-Pierre and staff always provide a warm welcome and nothing is too much trouble to provide. This is the third time we have stayed at Sentry Mead and for the past three years the accommodation has been excellent. Breakfast is superb, the rooms are always clean and well appointed with little refinements such as complementary dressing robes. The location is ideal for exploring the island and my only regret is that I can only give this Hotel a 10 score as in my book it is a 15 out of 10.
Cons: Nothing, Sarah and Jean-Pierre please don't change a thing you run an excellent hotel and nothing needs improving.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Jean Paul gave us a lovely welcome. Our room was lovely and clean. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were lovely. Sarah's homemade marmalade was scrumptious. Will return again

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic place to stay and highly recommend
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We all really enjoyed our stay, from the welcome, the facilities to the wonderful breakfast - thank you!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is the second time we have stayed at Whitefield, having been visiting the island for 20 years. Lacy and Butch are the perfect hosts and we adore Whitefield. Butch rustles up an excellent breakfast, his poached eggs are done to perfection and all the little extras in our room including fresh milk, fruit, biscuits and sweets are really appreciated - tea on arrival in the lounge was wonderful, we could have sat there all evening! Lacy and Butch's attention to detail is great and, at their suggestion, they provided us with lighter bed linen in view of the very hot weather, which appeared on our return from the evening out. We can't envisage visiting the island now without a stay with Lacy and Butch, thank you both for your hospitality, your home felt like our home for the short time we were with you! ... see you next year, Mandy and David ...
Cons: Nothing needs to be better, everything is perfect :-)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location very good for us. Lacy and Butch very welcoming and keen to make us comfortable. We were offered tea and biscuits in the sitting room upon arrival. Breakfasts were of a very high standard and could be as substantial as we wished. Attention to detail was good, eg quality napkins and good china at breakfast and all well presented. As weather was hot an electric fan was provided, together with alternative bedding to the duvet if required.
Cons: There was nothing that we felt had been omitted or needed changing.

Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: An absolute joy. We were very well looked after from start to finish. We'd certainly stay again. Breakfast was gorgeous, the room also gorgeous. The little things like fresh fruit in our room made our stay all the more special. Thanks again Lacy and Butch.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast OK, room OK, and friendly welcome.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are very friendly and nice. The location is very quiet and has easy access to transport. Love the garden view and the breakfast. Vicki also kindly gave me directions for visiting the attractions which I highly appreciate.
Cons: The location is slightly further away from most of the attractions, but I wouldn't mind too much as the bus is quite convenient.
5.0 Okay
Pros: I liked the shower. Breakfast was ok. Choice of cereal and cooked breakfast. Room checked daily and replenished. Given door key to lock door also front door key given.
Cons: Having to open/close gate to enter/exit parking space, my 89 year old mother had to be gateman! No offer to help whatsoever unloading car, l was capable of doing it but an offer would have been nice. Kettle, milk sachets, coffee etc provided but NO WATER in kettle, no bottled water provided or available (though kitchen very near to room, very stingy and unthoughful) no information where to buy provisions. I received a curt call from Vicki stating I was late and 'a curtesy call would be nice' I was NOT late, I informed property of my expected time of arrival which is when I arrived. I felt as if I was in the wrong when I KNOW I wasn't, I proved this with copy of email but no apology received. Is this why the unhelpful behaviour I wonder? Very unprofessional. I walked the garden, on a path, to be told not to walk that part of the garden and only use designated path. There may be extensive grounds but guests are not allowed to venture from the path!! The Chapel has ZERO ACCESS, unable to even be shown it as apparently it has been inaccessible for over TWO YEARS why is it advertised as having a chapel? Wrong information should be removed, the chapel is one reason I chose this property. Very disappointing. Breakfast was quite early at 8.30 to 9.30 with only three tables. Bathroom basin was tiny, don't expect to wash your hair in it. Too many rules and regulations to abide by, personally I would not recommended this property nor return to it. The 'owners' seem friendly with undertones!! No offer to help load car on leaving, i felt ushered out the door before I was ready to go.

Pros: Lovely interior Very cosy Close to the beach and town centre Bedroom and breakfast room were both full of light and colours.

7.0 Good
Pros: The room is very nice, clean and comfortable. If you're looking for a quite room, quiet place, a handful of people without any other facilities in the premise then this is a great place to spend a night.
Cons: It's like renting a room in someone's house. If this is your thing then it's great. No staff in the premise after 8pm. No cooked breakfast only choices of bread, cereal, etc. If you want to stay other facilities, e.g. 24hrs front desk, places to eat/drink in the premise, then this is not the place
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfasts. Brilliant selection of fresh fruit and niche yoghurts. OJ was decent (usually is very processed) and the tea was a good quality blend. The cooked range was terrific, some variation to the norm, but lots of new and interesting options. The overall food quality was superb for the price. The location overlooking the river was excellent. A great was to start a day.
Cons: The shower/bath was poor, in the sense that the water flow in my room was weak and I had to run around to get wet! Nogt a deal breaker, but a surprise disappointment given the excellence of the rest of the hotel facilities and the room.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We have visited before and love the location and the rooms are beautiful
Cons: The hotel wouldn’t take a one night stay. Went through booking.com and booked the room but very expensive and I believed I had booked half board. Very disappointed to have had to pay far too much for a one night stay and won’t do it again

Cons: Parking was terrible. My car was always blocked in. Hallways was very dusty/cobwebs around the curtains . No reception area. Place looks like it needed a bit of work/modernising, front door paint all flaking off. Walls and ceilings in hallways have large cracks and was just painted over. In the room the wall paper was falling off above the bed.

Pros: Quirky Boutique hotel with a selection of chocolate chips at the main entrance. Our room was comfortable and met our needs well for two nights. The staff were very accommodating & friendly. Breakfast was freshly made and the selection varied. Loved my poached eggs on wholemeal with extra mushrooms. Self service for tea, coffee and buffet suited us fine. The truffles left in a little bowl in the room were delicious. All in all a great little find that had the personal touch especially if you are a chocolate lover.
Cons: If you're a light sleeper request on booking a room facing the back of the hotel. You can hear the traffic if in a room facing the main road especially if you have the window open. A minor dislike for a night or two but nonetheless something to be aware of when booking.

6.8 Good
Pros: Good location, friendly and helpful breakfast staff. Breakfast well cooked with excellent quality ingredients. Place was very clean rooms refreshed every day.
Cons: Expected more for price paid to be honest. I booked 3 rooms for 5 nights. Felt the property lacked 5* quality I had booked and expected because of the following: Difficulty Parking-driveway to get in and out of Noise from street kept us awake 2 nights late into the morning. Raised with owner but no empathy Poor quality towels small white ones which had seen better days Travel hairdryer, ok if you don’t have long/thick hair, raised with owner to see if he had a larger one but he didn’t but acknowledged the lack of power in the one provided. Had to buy one instead. No bottled water un room No bath in bath room despite their being enough room Felt man, possibly owner, lacked customer focus unlike the ladies who served breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome. The room we stayed in was the economy room and it was perfect, big enough for the 2 of us, clean and the most comfortable bed. Lovely patio door leading into the garden, which I made use of, whilst hubby watched a film on the smart TV. He was able to log into Netflix and he was as happy as Larry! I walked into Christchurch town, which was a 2 minute walk and it was lovely. We only stayed 1 night, which was a shame as it was so nice. The breakfast was cooked to order and cooked to perfection. I could not fault anything about Druid House, loved it!

My husband commented that the full English breakfast rated the best he's ever had and it was a lovely surprise to find three different fish dishes on the menu. Much more to my liking. Spot on for location too. Druid House is in a quiet location but within easy reach of the high street with its amenities,. So no need to take the car for exploring Christchurch or for an evening out.
Cons: Liked everything there. No negatives.

Cons: Room slightly too small for family.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Overall a pleasant stay for what we needed the hotel for. Wife had previously stayed there and has also booked for some future dates too. (Maybe she has a secret boyfriend!?) Anyway, very helpful staff, great location and easy to find and safe parking off road. Breakfast was fine in morning although limited window of 1 hour I think. Also, make sure you order the previous night if you want a cooked breakfast. I wasn't aware but it didn't matter as what was offered was more than enough and they will do eggs to order anyway. Plus continental is cheaper by a few quid. We did have a fan in the room which helped keep it cool during a few v hot days and nights. I would stay again which I think is the biggest deciding factor in reviews.
Cons: Nothing really. It was as expected, clean, good location with very helpful staff.

Pros: The friendliest of the staff and the location.
Cons: No problems at all..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were really welcoming, hard working and were great conversationalists.
Cons: The hill back from the beach, but that's only because I'm lazy and sun burnt from the exquisite weather we have enjoyed.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and welcoming staff
Cons: Due to the structure of house stairs quite noisy. Room adaquate size for a night but would be cramped for a number of nights.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything about this place! Our host Rowan was great (and has cool hair), the hotel is very homey and authentic. Lots of personal style without being overbearing. Room was big and clean. We had the shared bathroom which I'm not usually a fan of, but the bathroom was very spacious and clean and the towels were enormous and comfy. Shared spaces (garden, lounge, TV room, breakfast area) were lovely and welcoming. The two cats are the sweetest and breakfast was very nice. Couldn't have been happier, would recommend and come back for sure! It's obviously an old building so if modern and brand new is your thing, this isn't your place, but we really enjoyed the historical features of the place. If you want authentic, welcoming, clean and inviting, you can't go wrong with staying at the strand hotel.
10.0 Excellent

7.5 Good
Pros: Very close to the beach front and surrounding shops, perfectly located... stayed for 2 nights and room was cleaned whilst out. Didn’t see much staff but was easy to come and go as was given own key. Nothing special but good for a budget and had no problems with the stay... bed was comfy and shared facilities were always accessible and had other toilets etc should one be busy.
Cons: Was what was expected so had no problems, didn’t opt in for the breakfast so can’t comment on food but hotel did the job for what was required
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location was great, just a few minutes walking from the beach and from the main street where all the shops are. It is in a very quiet zone and the breakfast was really good.
Cons: Pillows were too thin
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean and comfortable, staff were very friendly
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We only stayed 1 night, and left at 04.30 the next morning. After we had registered and gone to our room, the Manager bought us biscuits, water, and a few sweets.
Cons: Nothing, the hotel was perfect for what we wanted.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Really great place, with attentive staff, lovely gazebo and garden to chill out in, clean, well apportioned bedrooms with everything you could ask for, and the most amazing cooked breakfast. I have had some unfortunate experiences recently with other hotels, which led me to bring with me, my own fan ( it was the hottest July day in history !!! ) and a 5 x gang extension plug, based on previous experience. Neither were necessary as this hotel provides everything you could possibly need.
Cons: Its not the hotels fault, but the area it is in, is not suited for families in the evenings. I ventured into the High Street of Boscombe, just around the corner, on a few nights, and was surprised at how many drunks and beggars were around. The latter hang around the ATM's and hassle you for cash as you are making a withdrawal. I'm a fit, 6ft 1, ex Policeman, so I was not phased by this, but I can imagine the number of drunken males in the street and beggars, could concern a family, or single, female, visitors.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome and meet our needs.
Cons: Only issue we had was that the shower in the bathroom sometimes had low pressure
9.3 Excellent
Pros: A nice touch was the basket filled with assortment of towels and slippers. The quite and peaceful room overlooked the garden. The cooked breakfast was tasty and portions very generous.
Cons: I would have preferred ensuite, but as our room was next to the shared bathroom, this made it more convenient to get to.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Garden facilities and self serve breakfast. Microwave for use in evening
Cons: Nothing really-although the availability of an evening meal would have been nice ( even if just a very limited menu chosen in advance , say at breakfast?)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: very friendly and welcoming staff. Would definitely go to the same hotel if I visit Bournemouth again. Very nice garden with a pool.
Cons: Nothing I didn’t like loved everything about it.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: - 10 mins walk to Boscombe Beach - hotel very clean - single room small but very cosy and light - large window - tasty and plentiful breakfast - friendly staff - lovely garden - quiet area - sink in the room - toilet outside which was a bit inconvenient but it was clearly stated in the description - plus it was just outside my room and it was always available when I needed to use it

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very pleasant and helpful staff and management who were especially eager to ensure my dietary needs were catered for. I booked a Deluxe Single and stayed in room 7 which is a small double, so not sure if I was upgraded, but the room was lovely and quiet on the side of the property. Although compact, it felt more spacious because of the high ceilings. Bed & pillows were very comfy, and I was impressed to see an iron and ironing board in the room. The breakfast was excellent, with gluten-free options. There is a good small supermarket a few minutes walk away, and the hotel is just a 15 min walk into the centre of Bournemouth. It's likely I shall visit the town again and I'd have no hesitation going back to the Balincourt Hotel.
Cons: My only complaint was that the WiFi was hopeless and I couldn't get a signal for more than a few minutes before it dropped out again. Gave up in the end.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Central location. Polite staff
Cons: I booked a sea view room for a special birthday going on the photos of the website. I didn't get this. Our view was on a service yard, roof tops with a tiny glimpse of the sea
6.8 Good
Pros: The location was perfect, 5 min from the beach! The staff were very helpful and very friendly. The dinner at the restaurant was good! The vue from the room was nice and it’s a quiet hotel.
Cons: Breakfast is very poor for a 4* hotel... a little buffet with warm juices, fruit salad without taste, and you have to choose a hot plate but never change. And if you like a coffee other than just filter coffee they charge for that. Not good value for a 4*, you shouldn’t take the breakfast here. Is like more an hostel breakfast... The room was big but very old, again for a 4* hotel is look very poor. Even the TV have a very little amount of channel... the room is cold ambiance... No facilities at all, no pool, no gym nothing... for a 4* is not good regard of the rest is poor... and I was surprising at the end when I have to pay for my newspaper! When I arrive they didn’t mention it was charged on the room and they offer me...again not good for a 4* hotel. Overall, the staff is very nice but the hotel need a refresh and don’t deserve 4* at all.

Pros: Location very good - close to the pier & garden. Good selection for breakfast. Really appreciated the upgrade in room. Very helpful staff.
5.0 Okay
Pros: location close to the beach
Cons: Bathroom very small and dated, room decor very dated and in 2019 small tv with no sky is unacceptable for the room prices. Will not be booking in this place again. No parking facilities on property.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room very comfy breakfast excellent

Pros: breakfast was delicious . There were good choices and varieties on the breakfast menu. Breakfast venue was a relaxing atmosphere and staff were generous with closing time for breakfast as some people arrived late and yet given sufficient time to have breakfast.
Cons: Tea was at time cold .
7.5 Good
Pros: It was close to the seafront, the staff were really friendly and very attentive. The breakfast was lovely.
Cons: I thought it was a little over priced. Our sea-view room had a very small window, so we couldn’t sit together to look out to sea. We were in the roof and the rafters were very low, my husband hit his head a number of times. The bathroom was tiny... no space in the shower.

Pros: Great spa facilities. Very friendly staff and great choice of breakfast. Gin and Sherry in the room very nice touch.
Cons: Very expensive.
9.5 Excellent
Cons: Breakfast was a little below your usual standard, possibly because the restaurant was full. My husband's bacon was undercooked, and the cereals in the dispensers seemed to be quite stale. Staff were most polite but too busy.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Not up to the quality of staff as it used to be.
7.0 Good
Pros: Great location, generally high spec interiors and service, good spa and good restaurants. Loved the outside seating area and sofas, nice atmosphere - could be relaxed or formal
Cons: No air-conditioning in room and a window that didn’t open past a few inches - so very stuffy and hot even with fan provided which impacted our sleep A lot of the staff were friendly and good- however some of the waiter service in restaurant and bar wasn’t quite so four star- eg having to ask to have plates and glasses to be cleared away
5.8 Okay
Pros: I enjoyed the swimming pool, very nicely maintained, the sauna and steam room was upto the standard and the jacuzzi bath was good as well. The food was nice and reasonably price for this kind of resturants.
Cons: The room I got was unfortunately noisy, despite telling them at the check in that I was a light sleeper, the room given was right next to the car park and above the delivery enterance; could hear car park activity through the night, didn't get much sleep- I took it to the Manager, he was very nice and understanding but couldn't help me, although I was offer me some complimentary drinks etc.

Pros: We were visiting Avon Beach and this was an excellent hotel nearby. Room was well equipped and comfortable. We were facing the road, but weren't bothered by road noise (even with windows open). Breakfast was lovely and staff really pleasant. Would recommend this hotel.
Cons: Only a small thing, there isn't a grab rail in the bath, as I suffer with a bad back it's difficult to get out without one.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This is good hotel with old world charm . Fantastic service and food. Great value and
Cons: The internet wasn’t working and in the room. It’s clearly a one off but they need to sort this quickly.
5.5 Okay
Cons: Service in the restaurant was slow and inattentive. Attention to detail poor.
4.3 Okay
Pros: Friendly staff on arrival. Big rooms
Cons: Not being told the suite was separate from the main building (it was raining). The cleanliness was shockingly bad. 5 light bulbs out. Broken wardrobe Old amenities in wardrobe Large obvious hair in bathroom. Broken spa bath Broken extraction in bathroom General layer of dust and dirt on most surfaces. Constant use of “unused” office next door late evening. No where near 5 star standard or worth the price tag. Although staff very kind on arrival and acknowledging the poor condition of the room only an apology was offered. Sad and disappointing way to react to such a bad experience.
5.0 Okay
Pros: People - particularly one of the managers Christopher - his energy and positivity and smile makes it
Cons: NO AIRCON PICS ON WEBSITE ARE DECEIVING - the actual room was different to what was shown - it looks like all large doubles have two windows, mine had one - it affected the ambience in the room, which was the main reason for choosing this hotel. Beware. The bed in not very comfortable, pillows are poor quality. The flashing toilet is tricky - it does not do a good job - be aware, have to wait for the basin to fill up to do another flush.
8.0 Excellent

Pros: The restaurant manager was very obliging when we had a complaint
Cons: We arrived to our key in a envelop attached to the door. Rooms were not to a high standard of cleanliness The breakfast table was laid with dirty cups and used open individual honey pots. We were not impressed at all
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Suite was well laid out. Nice lounge down stairs with tv Upstairs, bedroom and bathroom. Nice decor.
Cons: Stair treads are a bit narrow
