Pros: A lovely relaxing place to stay. Our room was really clean and comfortable with a nice rural outlook. The owner and her daughter made us very welcome and even booked a restaurant for our evening meal.
Cons: Not applicable.
Pros: Everything was perfect Rooms, garden, staff, cleanliness, especially breakfast..
Pros: Everything was perfect
Pros: This place was the best accommodation we've had while in Spain. Out of 7 cities in Spain and 9 different types of accommodations we couldn't even expect anything like that. It's a beautiful farm in the middle of the mountains that will make you part of the family. The hosts are incredibly friendly, so as their pets and farm animals. Our kids were in paradise during the whole stay. They didn't want to leave the farm to explore the surroundings because they were having the best time of their lives on this farm. The interesting fact is that there were no mosquitoes, even late at night. Every room has a beautiful mountain view, the property is huge and cozy. There is enough space for multiple groups of travelers. We were sad to leave to our next destination as we felt like home during our stay. We will never forget Max and Laika (friendly farm dogs). Would highly recommend this property to anyone especially families with kids. Unforgettable experience!
Pros: EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING. The house and the staff are so lovely, everything was perfect. Beautiful surroundings, perfect for a getaway to disconnect from the routine and hectic city lives. Don't miss out on the breakfast, everything is homemade, with local products. Delicious!
Pros: Staff, Location, breakfast. Dinner at the restaurant near by is exceptional.
Areitz Soroa is set in Arce, 32 km from Bilbao and 23 km from Castro-Urdiales. Free WiFi is provided and free private parking is available on site. There is a shared kitchen at the property. Isla is 70 km from Areitz Soroa, while Valle De Villaverde is 15 km away. Bilbao Airport is 35 km from the property.
Pros: Wonderful warm welcome. Children loved meeting all the animals . Beautiful accommodation and location. Great ethos. Breakfast was very good. Would recommend and stay there again.
Pros: The place is a hostel so expect hostel-like comfort. That said, it had everything you could need, including a kitchen, full en-suite, etc. If you have kids, the owners also run a small farm, bake bread, etc.
Cons: There are two rooms to share the kitchen separated just by the room's door. I could imagine it could get noisy, even if when we stayed the other room was empty. Also the rooms were designed for a bunk-bed stile stay, so the bathroom has two cabins and two showers, which is a bit strange for a family. Finally, the blinds don't stop the light, which isn't great.
Pros: Location and set up
Pros: Owners very kind
Cons: We got there late, place is quite remote and wasn’t anywhere to buy something to eat or drink. Nearest bar-restaurant few kilometres distance only works if booked in advance on Sunday. The owner of the restaurant was very kind and cooked some chips and sausages for the children.
Pros: Me gustaba la tranquilidad y la naturaleza. I enjoyed to sit in the garden near the hens and other small animals. And to see what was growing. Also enjoyed a walk along the road. The owners were very kind and welcoming. The house and room very nicely decoreted and well kept.
Cons: No había nada que no me gusta. There was absolutely nothing that I missed.
Pros: The location was stunning and the Host really welcoming. Don't be put off by the fact that it is a hostel, we had a family room with a double bed, 4 bunk beds and en-suite with 2 toilets, 2 showers and 2 hand basins. The host spoke really good English and although they didn't do evening meals, he was able to recommend somewhere in a nearby town and called them for us. There was a buffet style breakfast laid out for us the next morning, and you could help yourself to tea and coffee. The breakfast was the best we've seen during our time in Spain and Portugal. The host kindly let us park our motorcycle inside the gates. I would definitely recommend this place, especially if you are catching the ferry at Bilbao, as it is only about 12 miles from the port. We would certainly book her again if we are in the area.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike, but a kettle upstairs would have been a bonus, for us English, who like our tea.
Pros: It was a nice place, comfortable an d peaceful, it just a bit far off from the center of the city but the drive is enjoyable. It's actually an hostel. The Host mr. John is a wonderful person and even provided us with food in the night and we couldn't find anything.
Cons: Nothing much
Pros: Your host receives you with a very warm welcome. this charming hostel is in a fantastic setting and very family friendly, plus a delicious self service breakfast to get you started for the day.
Pros: Nice landlord
Cons: We had paid for breakfast but was not given it despite making arrangements for the morning, so not at all happy

Pros: Excellent quiet location, traditional Spanish converted detached house, very comfortable rooms, excellent restaurant and bar, and finally the hosts made us feel like we were old friends despite neither of them speaking any English. Would definitely stay here again if I was in the region. We didnt sample the breakfast because we had to leave early for the ferry.
Cons: There was nothing we didnt like about the place or the hosts.
Pros: We stayed for the last night of our tour and it was great. Really impressive historical hill top setting and lovely old building. The host was great and really looked after us but at 8pm we were the only guests and I could see that you might wind up arriving too late and the bar / restaurant would be closed so perhaps best to check and book.
Cons: Nothing, it was great but see note above on arriving late.
Pros: They clean your room every day and are helpful. We also liked the location. If you have a rental car it is a good distance from either Bilbao, beaches and the surrounding villages.
Cons: The beds where somewhat hard. And it is really a hotel, meaning you have little facilities on your room (not unlike advertised though)
Pros: Everything was perfect- the setting, the bed, the quality of the sheets and amenities, cleanliness and limitless coffee. Ease of commuting by train to Bilbao. Valentine, our host, went out of his way to be helpful. Overall, a very professionally run business but with an interesting quirkiness.
Pros: The mountain view, the comfort of the room (super comfortable bed and size), the hosts and the fresh air
Pros: Very rich breakfasts and tasty dinners (+vino de casa !!!) Wonderful area with mountains, fresh air , quiet place. Room was comfortable and was cleaned every day. Free coffee in the lobby. Owners do not speak english very well but they do almost everything to understand each other and their effort was succesful! Very kind people.
Located in the village of Zalla, Hotel Ibarra features impressive views of the surrounding countryside. Set in beautiful gardens, it offers free bikes and free Wi-Fi. Each bright, attractive room at Hotel Ibarra has views of the Salcedo Valley. All rooms come with a TV. Guests can enjoy a buffet breakfast in the dining room. A number of bars and restaurants can be reached within a 5-minute drive. The surrounding area is ideal for hiking and cycling, and fishing is possible at the nearby Ibarra River. Bilbao and the surrounding beaches can be reached within 30 minutes by car.
Pros: Beautiful location, wonderfully large bedrooms and charming and helpful host but his English is limited. Knowing some Spanish would benefit your visit
Cons: There are very few restaurants in the area during the week and the bars offering food look scruffy and intimidating. I'm led to believe there are more restaurants open at the weekend but can't confirm. Fellow (Dutch) guests and us ended up eating the last pintxos in the local Eroski supermarket cafeteria. Haute cuisine it wasn't!
Pros: Jose was very sweet and a great host. The room was impeccably clean, and the grounds were beautiful — the area is a great place to drive around as well!
Pros: A lovely room with a splendid view. Spacious, comfortable room with a mezzanine seating area and a small balcony to sit on and enjoy the great view across the valley. The swing from the rafters in the room was a delightful and surprising treat. Comfortable bed with good cotton sheets. A clean, spacious bathroom. An easy walk to local railway station to make the 40 minute trip into Bilbao. Nearby small town had plenty of bars and restaurants. Stayed two nights, would be very happy to stay for a week here.
Cons: Everything was excellent.
Pros: It is cosy and located in a peaceful, rustic setting. The owner was very obliging and had a lot of tourist information available. We loved his dog. It had a good breakfast which was served until 11:00 a.m. The dining room was nice and offered indoors and outdoors dining options. Having just arrived from the USA, it was nice to be able to sleep in and still take advantage of the breakfast. The parking was easy which we came to appreciate the longer we stayed in Spain. We liked the single beds which were pushed together; we are accustomed to a king-size bed so the extra room was great.
Cons: There were no fly screens on the windows but that is common in Europe. There were no comfortable chairs in the room so if you wanted to read, you ended up sitting in bed. The owner does not speak English and my wife's Spanish is rusty; nonetheless, we were able to communicate. The towels were air-dried and were harsh to the skin.
Pros: Perfect, peaceful place for family or romantic vacation! You wake up with an incredible views! José the host was super nice and helpful with everything you would need. Definitely recommend to escape from city hassle! Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Cons: Would be nice to have a small fridge in rooms otherwise everything is great!
Pros: The location and the surroundings are beautiful. The house and the garden fom outside are also nice.
Cons: The rooms, furniture etc are really very old. There are insects and spider nets in the room. We booked double superior room which had no windows...and asked to change it for a standard room which at least had some windows. Don't expect much of this hotel. In reality it does not look as on the pictures. The host does not speak any English, otherwise he is very friendly.

Pros: Very comfortable rooms and the restaurant also was great
Cons: No suggestions
Pros: Nice simple hotel about 40 minutes drive from Bilbao ferry terminal. Quiet location and the hotel is clearly the village social centre as well, although not in any way that made it busy or noisy. It was perfect for our needs.
Pros: Liked the owners. Food was very good.
Cons: Cigarette odor (only downside)
Pros: Excellent budget hotel ideal stop over if on road trip, friendly staff and locals
Cons: Not much
Pros: Nice place, friendly staff and provide good value meals.

Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, a business center, and multilingual staff. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: Room like a cell. Obscure glass windows. Room intended for disabled I.e. wet shower room. Extending hose on washbasin. However, shaver socket had not been safely installed - cut away tiles not back filled. Tap unit loose. Loo seat cover not fixed. Loo roll holder and matching hook (hook far too high for someone with movement difficulty). One of the knobs on bedside table drawer loose (left on the bed so it could be attended to) had not been refitted. Insufficient number of electrical sockets - had to unplug fridge to plug in hair dryer. Only one shallow drawer. Side table with lose glass top - next to wet room door way so far too easy to knock with wheel chair. Wardrobe too shallow to take width of coat hangers with jacket on. Only half of wardrobe available as mini fridge and safe were housed therein. Fridge power off during the day when the card which operates room power was removed. Notice requesting guests to save the planet by putting towels on rack to show the willingness was noted. However, each day fresh towels were issued. Last morning it was noted that one of the large towels had two holes - cigarette size. We don't smoke. There was a sizeable piece of string on the floor behind the door to the wet room. Each day we made sure the door was closed to enable it to be swept away - still there. Card had been debited for one night. We paid cash on arrival. I do hope we have been credited!!!! Very difficult to be understood although we had a little help from a chap from the kitchen. We didn't eat breakfast there as only bread, jam and cereals offered. We prefer savoury items. Menus for other meals also uninspiring.
Pros: The staff was fantastic. Warm and we felt right at home. They were attentive. The room was extremely comfortable. Highly recommend
Pros: Very clean and the staff were lovely
Cons: Location is by a road and the front of the property overlooks a large renovation project. Very noisy dogs nearby
Pros: Good clean room with excellent ensuite.
Cons: There was no private parking. I believe that Parking was on the village car park, however, in such a small village it was ok. The room was very warm when we opened up, but temperature came down to a reasonable level after a few minutes, but the outside temp was about 22 degrees. If it had been the 42 degrees that we had passed through on the way north iy would have been intolerable. There is no AC.
Pros: Very friendly and helpful, nicely renovated old house, good restaurant and just a nice place to stay :) everything perfect :)
Pros: The location of the hotel is OK. The room has a wardrobe which is very nice if you stay there several nights. The room size is acceptable. The food (dinner and breakfast) is also OK.
Cons: The breakfast system (basic or a la carte - you have to order any of them) - it is definitely overcomplicated and it takes ages to get basic things to eat. The simple buffet would be a good solution here. The parking is relatively far from the hotel, and you have to walk along the busy road - it is not nice, especially with small children. Some staff members were not kind.
With a stay at Hotel Convento San Roque in Balmaseda, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Boinas La Encartada Museoa and Ethnographic Museum. Featured amenities include luggage storage and an elevator. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The hotel itself was a fantastic building with lots of charater
Cons: The area was in the middle of residential flats
Pros: a lovely place, we stayed in a superior room and it was full of character
Cons: security, the car park gate wasn't closed at night nor was the side door
Pros: The delightful building, oozing history. Very comfortable guiet room. Easy walk to the lovely town Fantastic breakfast
Cons: Sadly we couldn't stay awake for late dinner after a long drive. The reviews looked good and menu sounded amazing. Our lose.
Pros: Location very rustic
Pros: The location, price and comfort. Also the place itself is very pretty
Cons: All was very good
Pros: The staff was fantastic.
Pros: Our third stay at this little gem of a hotel. Great accommodation and fabulous food!
Pros: Location & free parking
Cons: Poor service & no wifi at all on first day local bus had better wifi so you need to sit at the bus stop and hope it is not raining. Wi fi was available in the cafe the following morning
