mid town & walking distance
it's right next to the cathedral no internet in room .
Friendly, helpful staff
Convenience to the centre of Cherbourg plesent owner and a quiet spot ensuring a good nights sleep despite being on a main road
Very friendly English speaking staff. Located near Cite de la Mer. Private parking was cheap and very convenient. Room was pretty small. Cherbourg itself was a bit disappointing, but that's not Hotel Chimene's fault.
Friendly staff Bathroom to small facilities almost unuseable
everything our group was separated (2 rooms in the main building 1 in the annex) the main facilities being in the main building.
A small hotel giving good personal service
The situation in a quiet location overlooking the estuary was delightful. It only took forty minutes from Cherbourg, on easy quiet roads. Food was of a high standard, but note that dinner is not served on Mondays, but can be obtained at sister hotel a mile away. Room pleasant and very comfortable.
Lovely room with great view (harbour room). Extremely comfortable and friendly hotel. If staying for more than a couple of nights, the menu was limited, however there are other restaurants around the vacinity if you go out. Wine at this hotel was quite pricey.
it served its purpose after our arrival from england
Noise from T V in next room, walls were very thin
clean, quiet and close to a large free car park nothing
hotel being renewed. Price is also good and bed was comfortable. bathroom was smaller than in a plane, fat person wont fit. Only good for 1 night
Nice tasteful decor. It was very clean all bar a small stain on the bedspread; the sheets were crisp, clean and white. The breakfast was only a hot drink and some white bread/croissant with butter/jam. No cereal, fruit, yoghurt, etc.
exactly what i needed for a one night stop over
ok for one night Tiny shower room and even smaller toilet, very basic although you could see they were trying to improve things in the reception area. Difficult to park near the hotel, although we were lucky to find a space after driving round several times.
The staff were very nice, room was very clean, breakfast was excellent and the staff were very accomodating by letting me leave my luggage at the hotel on my last day as my Ferry did not leave until 8 in the evening.
Closeness to town centre. Decor in breakfast room very poor.e.g wallpaper peeling off walls and ceilings.Shower room could do with good clean and re-tiling in places.
Although room was very small and overlooking fire escape and back yard, it was newly decorated and very clean. Back street hotel which was very difficult to find via directions given. Hotel staff spoke little English and were unable to help direct us in. Otherwise hotel staff helpful.
The comfortable bed nothing
the proximity of the N 13,also close to the port.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good restaurant with nice view. Good parking facilities. Very convenient location. Bed was very uncomfortable due to big dip in the middle of the matress
The dinner was excellent and the staff most professional. Room size
Good onsite restaurant, excellent breakfast, very comfortable bed. Onsite parking
Convenience to Car Ferry Room very cramped - Siting of TV lethal for head!
We were able to book online and just turn up late at night from our ferry journey. Good value for money The walls between rooms were very thin and so we could hear our neighbours talking.
Convenient Standard of accommodation quite basic.
Its location the decor
Relaxed and had diner there. No, everything was fine!
Location, big beds and shower - also liked the fact that we could change rooms as we had a problem with our original room. Also the meals and the bar area - plenty of room to sit have a drink and play cards. No
Very pleasent reception and staff, clean and tidy room. Overall appearance of the dining area and bar was good and very clean. The hotel directions was a little confusing and could benifit from better signs from main road as hotel is not very visable from the hypermarket side.My only disapointment was the food, although well presented by the staff. The general selection was not what I had expected from a French restaurant.
Not much really, was cold and no one friendly
Convenient for ferry terminal
Everything was as we expected excellent
Size of the rooms and the staff were friendly and quite near to city center. No
food / ease of acces to port
Good value menu. Difficult to find. Better directions are needed
I chose this Hotel because of it's convenience for the ferry port and the fact that there is an in-house restaurant. A small point but there was no soap on the wash baxsin and the shower gel dispenser was empty.
Very convenient for the ferry port. Clean, though small, room, friendly staff, adequate breakfast.
The friendly receptionist and the ease of booking in. Concise instructions for accessing our rooms following a late return. Being on the ground floor and able to park outside our rooms. The quantity of milk supplied, we would have appreciated more. I am sure that extra would have been supplied, but it was too late when we realised.
The breakfast was good with a range of foods incuding a hot option. The room had a smell of urine and we had to buy a candle to get rid of the smell. The hair-dryer had a fault as sparks were comimg out of it.
Good, clean, comfortable budget accomodation with free parking Felt the car park was a little vulnerable - not very well lit and unmanned, which might have been an issue as the area around the hotel was a bit run down, but we had no problems
I only stayed one night. The reception staff when I arrived spoke no English and didn't seem to want to try to be that helpful. The morning staff spoke some English and was very helpful.
Tea & Coffee in room appreciated. Good to have connecting room for young children. A long walk to find food in eve (only local restaurant was booked solid)
Staff was kind, but they couldn't really help because they didn't speak English. Take note, there is a very good restaurant 5 minutes walking from hotel - called Gurmandie or something like this, so you better don't go to city center if you are just for overnighting there. Room very small and very very dark. Location far form city center and you have to use your car or taxi to get there.
Good parking, pleasant room and breakfast & friendly staff No restaurants nearby
Location, helpful and friendly staff and car parking
For the price the Kyriad Cherbourg was fine and free WiFi is really good, particularly for business emails. Getting into town is reasonable easy by car and being out of the Cherbourg town centre the location is quiet. We had a ground floor room with a door directly on to the car park which was highly convenient for packing up when leaving. Our only criticism was the fact that having the door to the car park meant there wasn't a window to open for fresh air!
Lots of atmosphere, beautiful surroundings and welcoming staff. Lovely dining room where we had a very good meal. Didn't have breakfast as we find french breakfasts very expensive.
Friendly service, very comfortable bed, excellent dinner in lovely surroundings. Nice location for a weekend break. Breakfast was disappointing, especially compared to dinner. 9 euros for a basic continental breakfast was a little expensive.
We liked the setting very much. Our room was very comfortable and immaculately presented. We enjoyed an excellent gourmet dinner, the restaurant and the food is really special. A lovely breakfast saw us well equipped to make 30 minute trip to the ferry. Very convenient. We will certainly stay there again. We would like a larger room if we stayed for a longer break.
Tranquil setting; an interesting building with lots of history, within easy distance of Cherbourg. Good range of menus; excellent value both for room and meal. Contacted hotel by phone to make enquiries about evening meal. Prompt and helpful. None
Very enjoyable stay, handy for Cherbourg. Rooms overlooking the road a little noisy from Traffic.
diner at the hotel was delicious!
Excellent facilities. Staff helpful. Propeitor spoke English. Food excellent Very good location None
Staff were exceptionally helpful after we got lost and arrived very late. Our family room was very large and we loved the staircase within the room that once would have led to a tower. The building generally was wonderful. The hotel was not as close to Cherbourg as we first thought (about 25km) - but in the end, well worth the extra drive
Superb staff, reasonable price, beautiful setting
Lovely place to stay, not far from the port of cherbourg,
The proprietors were very friendly. Putting an extra bed in the room was no trouble. It was very cheap! It was in need of serious redecoration. The photo of the hotel on the website bore very little (if any) relationship to the actual hotel!
Very nice couple and breakfast lovely. However in terms of the room, you 'd never have a hotel like this in the UK for normal guest just DHSS hostel type place.
Nothing It needed a complete overhaul - the rooms were shabby the bathrooms appalling. The noises from other guests and the communal toilet and water system all through the night (which appeared be be immediately adjacent to our room) meant that sleep was impossible. Glad to leave.
Quiet location but near local amenities None
The room was on the ground floor and all on the flat. Nothing
Quiet location Directions were not so good, it was not as close to the ferry port as I thought
The hotelier remembered us and welcomed us in a pleasant manner. The room was light and had everything we needed. Good breakfast.
Perfect place for overnight stop before or after a ferry crossing, excellent resteraunt with good value menu, private car park with lovely garden and swings at the back of the hotel. Very friendly host and immaculate bathroom, bedding etc. Would definately stop again. Should just say it is in the town and not by the beach.
Nice clean light room with a beautiful view, in a lovely old French village, a few doors from the tourist office and a pleasant walk to the beach/sea and Carteret harbour. In October it was very quiet and there weren't places open in the evening to eat except the hotel itself, or down in Carteret. The food and service at the hotel was great, though can't really been done on the cheap. There is a supermarket in the village for food, however.
A pleasant hotel with basic rooms but very clean. Good shower. Staff very friendly and helpful. Free wi-fi and good breakfast. Location ok but Carteret is where the most shops restaurants etc are
Comfortable, clean, reasonably priced. Staff friendly and helpful. Excellent place to stay for overnight before boarding the Queen Mary 2.
it was in the centre of cherbourg
comfortable and extremely clean. slept well ,no noise . enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay there again . about 10 mins. walk to restaurants . found a few good ones . also 10 min. taxi ride to car ferry .lovely marina and lots of cruisers and a few fishing boats we could.nt fault anything .would have liked a tea.s made in bedroom but i guess you cant have everything? overall our stay was very plesent
Very friendly and helpful staff. A convenient and good value place to stop for a night
was very impressed with standard of hotel as picked at random on internet for close proximity to car ferries (novice continental driver!! ) .Would certainly use again . Just a wee bit noisy from people outside till early hours of morning as window was open as was very warm .
Central location. Helpful staff (pointing out free parking available nearby rather than charging us to use their garage, for example).
It was clean, well priced, and met my requirements Nothing
It is situated in the centre of Cherburg therefore making it very convenient for looking around and it was very convenient to get to from the Ferry Terminal. The room was very basic but the bed was very comfortable
Value for money. Location was perfect. Staff very friendly Parking was very small and there were no spaces available for us, so we had to park in a public parking
The location and the ability to park my car in a safe place. It was a suitable hotel for an overnight stay in the City. No, all was satisfactory
View from window of marina found bed too short and uncomfortable
The restaurant the bathroom and toilet (fan not working and weak flush)
Pleasant staff, polite and well coming. No coffee and tea facilities.
fantastic location, excellent food, friendly staff room rather basic and small, no airconditioning
Excelent restaurant, very pleasant room facing the harbour, parking to the rear, very good stopover for the ferry. Rooms at the front a little noisy, rooms at the back seemed to be a bit dark but cooler.
The comfort, organisation and the food. Excellent service and the stay was good value for money. We would like to return.
No lift. Stairs quite dangerous. Decoration of the room was poor and the doors did not close insde the room.
The 'family suite' was spacious and clean with v comfortable beds. The Logis menu was interesting and regional. The access to our family room was via a separate entrance around the back of the hotel in a back yard next to a car park with a very smelly recycling centre closeby - more than a little smelly! The menu was regional, interesting and expensive!!
Comfy beds, great breakfast, good location.
everything was excellent no everything was excellent
cleand and quiet - good budget hotel
I was everything as stated on the tin
Lack of information about the limited opening times of reception. It would have been better if this were displayed prominently on the front door.
Smell of smoke around the hotel and carpets in corridor were stained and in need of replacement.
Lovely location,tastefully furnished.
Very comfortable room, clean and helpful, friendly staff
Location was beautiful and relaxing. Staff is friendly and helpful. Being charged for breakfast automatically when we did not use the service. Only stairs to get to 2nd floor.
Very attentive staff. Excellent food. Vg location None
The staff were helpful and friendly and when we asked to leave our cases for the day, they secured them safely under lock and key. very clean. Breakfast very poor value. Rooms rather small and the general wear and tear on hotel noticeable. We recommend the hotel on the basis of lack of 'modern' alternative accomodation.
Good size room. Handy for ferry. Easy to find and plenty of parking. Near town. Staff very friendly and helpful. More than adequate for night stop. Fairly basic. No lift if heavy luggage. Noshower curtain means sitting in bath
welcoming staff I would have liked a shower in the bathroom
Very helpful and courteous staff, with clean and comfortable rooms.
Needs catering facilities in the evenings None
Price and the location The room smelt of smoke the whole time we were there, very shabby very disapointed as we have stayed there a few years ago and found it very good
Spacious rooms. Main facilities work. Convenient location for most restaurants etc. plus car ferry only 5 minutes away. Breakfast not good value. No locks on door - someone entered (with key) at 2a.M. but we heard them and they went! Room and bed linen smelled of smoke. No air conditioning. Prefer duvet to blankets
Location of Hotel and breakfast. Extra bed provided by Hotel staff for one of my children was received very promptly. Rooms in need of updating. Curtains didn't meet in the middle, mould under one of the windows.
the hotel staff very helpful and friendly and location was great i didnt like the bed to soft but otherwise great tea and coffee making facilities would be great
Nice staff, english speaking, good location The room was not very quiet, but it wouldn't be a real problem. The main issue we have was cleanliness and the smell in the room, which I can describe as 'smell of an old blanket' or 'smell of an old carpet'. The room didn't look dirty, actually it looked nice (considering the price), but it felt dirty, probably because of the strange smell and it made us feel uncomfortable.
