Close to the sea/town and surprisingly quiet given that there is a busy pub on the ground floor. Room allocated was pleasantly large with decent light and a very comfortable bed. Linen/towels perfectly clean, breakfast was freshly cooked and lovely. Staff encountered were all very friendly. Room, whilst clean, was a little tatty but still perfectly functional. To be fair I didn't pay for luxury and what I got was well worth the money.
Hotel staff made an effort to find a vegetarian breakfast option. Breakfast was excellent. Bedding was spotlessly clean and beds comfortable. Spectacular view. Good sized rom. Room was shabby with unmatching furniture. Carpet in bathroom with stains around toilet. Room was boiling hot and we couldn't open the window or turn the radiator down. The spotless bedding to replace ours was left on the grubby carpet outside our room. Whole room needed some tlc. I was disappointed that after reading students receive 10% discount on a stay, (my daughter also stayed and is a student) when I enquired no-one was available to give me the discount.
Proximity to Aberystwyth's shops, pubs and restaurants. Recently recarpeted throughout - rooms, staircases and corridors. Fantastic panoramic views of Cardigan Bay from front rooms. Breakfasts. Friendly, approachable staff. As mentioned, it has been recarpeted throughout, but a lick of paint here and there wouldn't go amiss.
The view of the sea from the bar.Relaxed atmosphere at the hotel.Good service with friendly staff. Could do with a little refiurbishment.
The location Peope hanging around the entrance smoking. The reception being part of the pub counter, this would be better seperate.
The staff were most helpful The bathroom was adequate
good location definately in need of a refit
The view from the bedrooms was superb and the bedding was spotless. The carpets were dirty and it is not appropriate to have carpeting in a bathroom. Needs to be ripped out. There was also nowhere to hang up towels
The room was clean and was big enough not to get under each others feet. The views whilst sat in the window were very pleaseant. looking out over the bay The breakfast was very nice but was a bit early for a relaxing weekend away, latest time was 08.45
the view of the sea from the bedroom breakfast in the bar was basic I expected better as the bar meals were excellent
Good location and a helpful staff Parking was a pain
Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
Beautiful view. Very comfortable room. Excellent breakfast with very efficient and friendly service.
Very comfortable beds, attentive staff, good cooked breakfast
Large comfortable room with an excellent view. Friendly accomadating staff
Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms, very nice breakfast. Definitely recommended.
although basic very clean and tidy
Right near to the beach and sea view from the bed. Private car park. Dated decor.
Warm and comfortable; friendly staff. Too much noise during the night on Saturday (20th November).
Staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. The rooms were very comfortable and clean and the breakfast was superb!
Lovely room and very friendly staff. My only compaint was that I was only allowed to use the iron in the dinind room. Other than that eveything was excellent.
Helpful, polite, happy staff and excellent food
nice warm atmosphere, friendly staff, excellent breakfast
my sea view room no lift we were on the 3rd floor no offer of help with luggage
Breakfast Beds uncomfortable; no lift ; room given was a single not twin and had to switch; room overpriced;drinks in bar overpriced
An excellent breakfast and very helpful staff throughout our stay, No complaints at all.
Pleasant helpful staff.
The view of the sea from our bedroom window. Room was tired and in need of redecoration
Wonderful location on the seafront and the staff, particularly the receptionists and the barman were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the hotel is very dated and pretty tatty (most of the decor circa 1980 I would imagine) and is badly in need of a major facelift. Food was okish (just about), but the kitchen/service did not seem well organised (wrong food delivered and it took an very long time to come)- shame as the hotel has great potential and has obviously seen better days.
The welcome and overall the way all staff treated us, sevice food all excellent, if in the area would book at this hotel
Location, room and pleasant staff Not very good parking facilities
Very clean and looked like the decor had been recently updated. Fantasitc view of the prom and beach from the room. Staff were courteous and efficient, the check in was simple and straight forward. The breakfast provided in the price was well cooked and plentyful. Nothing serious to mention.
Friendly and welcoming staff Clean and comfortable stay Brilliant seaview from room Private parking
Restaurant Food and Service excellent. Good portions and happy waitress. Lavatory not cleaned properly. Entrance to shower cubicle a little small for my stature.
Sea view, relaxed and friendly staff, good amenities and breakfast. Initially didn't have a sea view but staff provided a different room with no difficulty.
Location close to town centre and on the sea front.
The seaside location and the friendly staff who went out of their way to be pleasant and helpful at all times. Bi-lingual staff to reflect the Welsh Culture.
Hotel was well situated though room could have done with some tlc it was clean though Dined in restaurant one night food was good but service a bit chaotic as not enough staff on wouldn't go there again but just didn't like Aberystwyth
Lovevely welcoming hotel friendly staff good food you could not ask for more None
great service in the resturant free internet was not working throughout stay despite numerous reminders
By far the finest hotel we stayed in on our trip to Wales. The location and view were excellent. Probably the Grandest hotel 50 years ago and still that way today.
Great breakfast, helpful staff, nice rooms. Noisy at night if in front room
Well maintained room, and very nice breakfast. The staff were very helpful and pleasant.
Close to town center good breakfast Wi-fi did not work I chose this hotel because it said that it had wi-fi
Everything was good. The staff, the room and breakfast were all great.
Very peaceful and comfortable, well situated with a free car park Internet died soon after arrival and was not restored although I suspect this was not the hotel's fault
Smart Guest Lounge and breakfast area, and very pleasant friendly staff.
Nice people. Nice room. And a radio! Limited tv channels (3) and no remote control
Hearing the waves crashing near by
Ample breakfast good toiletries and towels, handy for town centre and also beach half mile from University
A nice room with ensuite and in the city centre Small car park at back of Hotel
I liked the fact there was a late check-in facility, the cleanliness, and the breakfast was perfect. A very pleasant owner. The only down-sde was the poor mobile network availability. However it added to the serenity of the location.
Very friendly bed and breakfast in a lovely location. Handy for the University, town and the lovely beaches along this part of the Welsh coast.
Proprietor was friendly and ameniable and very helpful when we complained. The breakfasts were good. Free Broadband. Centrally located. Good parking. We stayed in the annexed portion - Musty Smell in House -In Room Mismatched dated decor - No cupboard for clothes and no small fridge supplied - no bedside lamps - television remote dodgy - television minute and set very high on the wall- Bathrooms (not en suite) - Shared but Not cleaned on a daily basis.. only marginal improvement after complaints
The hosts were sweet and helpful The information about parking was not correct.
Cheap and cheerful but clean and efficient with friendly and helpful staff. None.
Nothing too much trouble for the guests, both by facilities and information. Very pleasant attitude and attention. Breakfasts extremely enjoyable.
Extremely friendly and helpful family run hotel, well placed for town and seafront.
They were happy to put up an extra guest with only a small charge for breakfast. Shared toilet facility
Really lovely owners, good breakfast, good location. Could do with a bit of a facelift, quite expensive (even for non-en- suite, off-season).
Breakfast; friendliness Not clean enough: poor quality of fitments/room.
Very friendly owners, excellent breakfast, very close to all that Aber has to offer. Parking! If you are lucky you may get within 100 yards (maybe even outside at weekends) - if you're unlucky you may not be able to park anywhere near close!
good location, friendly helpful staff, nice food in the restaurant and a warm and friendly bar area and they were willing to switch the TV onto the football for me nothing
The evening meal & breakfast was quite nice, although heating not quite up to scratch. Unfortunately it was one of the coldest spells for a few years & the heating in the room was inadequate (radiator warm only). No heating in bathroom. Luckily the barman managed to find a portable heater for us, thankfully!!
staff friendly and helpful plus excellent location
Good size room friendly and efficient staff good food Room 2 window opened onto flat roof full of pigeons and an air con unit outlet so did not want to open it despite hot weather; ok for our one night stay but would not have stayed in this room any longer
Very friendly...clean...small and cozy Hotel in Aberaeron...a beautiful part of Wales on the west coast...a must visit for people who want to get away from it all and/or travelling for sightseeing. Looking to use this Hotel again in the near future and would recommend it to family and friends. No complaints at all
the hotel room was really nice ! we had the better room i think as we had view over the harbour ! when arriving with our one year old baby the receptionist told us we could not fit a travel cot in a double bedroom but she let us and it was perfect !
We loved the central location. We would have liked more salads on the menu.
It was clean, comfortable and the staff were fantastic! Food was also excellent. Nothing.
Beautiful location and enjoyed being in the cottage room away from main hotel. Room was well presented and loved the Teddy (although did not bring him home!). Breakfast was excellent, beautfual views and good food. Ample parking. Absence of staff - getting served in the bar was a lengthy process. TV in our room did not work continually, would suggest investing in some good satellite dishes or taking TV out of room as frustrating. Did not dine as quite limited menu. Pricey.
the room, the view and the food
room and location wedding party took over bar and restaurant on one night
The staff were excellent and the food was very good. Despite the fact there was a lot of redecorating and structural work going on during our visit we really had a pleasant stay.
The hotel had nice views There was no tv ariel only an indoor one and was poor reception, shower was hard to operate, and shower room in need of redecorating, and there was very few people there at that time, expensive
food was consistently good. Waitresses very efficient The two lounges did not seem to work.
Wonderful Staff...excellent food...tranquil setting in the countryside..a real pleasuer.
A comfortable stay in a countryside hotel with excellent dining facilities and very attentive and friendly staff Some minor refurbishment was underway to upgrade the hotel but this did not spoil our stay
Great breakfast and room clean and comfortable Room was in annex and couldn't get internet connection, annoying as had lots of work to do and had to use lounge in hotel instead. Couldn't control heating
Quiet, good sized rooms. Proper bath towels! Nothing
Excellant period hotel with good food (not too much, not too little), helpful staff, free glass of bubbly on arrival! Nothing to dislike
Location and grounds; easy to find; ample parking; very comfortable
I was made to feel very comfortable as I was staying on my own for business in the area. Not having been to the hotel before I was made most welcome and everyone was so friendly
Just the relaxing old worldy atmosphere Didn'tike the speed humps on the driveway!
Very comfortable, food excellent and staff friendly.
The staff are exceptional. We have stayed here a number of times and have always found it a delight.
The quality of the meals and friendliness of staff The beds were too soft
The food. The choice and quality of the meals was absolutely excellent. Compliments to the chef. Our room was quite dark.
The room was airy, the bed was comfortable and the bedding was of excellent quality. The room was peaceful and we felt we had benefited from such a relaxed atmosphere. Rarely do we manage such a good night's sleep on the first night away from home! There was a lovely lounge area just off our room and the couple we stayed with and us made the most of the area and spent the evening sitting and talking there, it really felt like we were in our own living room, just not as grand!! We stayed at the hotel with another couple, they paid £127 for their room and we paid £139, there was nothing obviously different to the rooms, infact if anything their's seemed larger. We stayed in room 7,the people staying in the room above us decided to take a bath at 1am and we heard everything!
friendly and clean. great breakfast.
Lovely house and decor. Friendly and helpful proprietors. Very generous breakrfast beautifully presented. It would have been nice to have a shower as well as the bath.
Roger and Katie are great hosts, we were amazingly well looked after. Greeted with tea and scones and shown to a very attractive room with a sumptious bathroom. We booked in for three nights and enjoyed every one. Breakfast was lovely, clearly made from quality ingredients. We were even treated to afternoon tea and homemade cake each day! Roger was on hand with maps and ideas for great walks in the area, some of which you can easily do from Adrwyn House. The town, despite being small has a several good places to eat and drink, all very reasonably priced and within easy walking distance from Adrwyn House. There is also a station in the town so if you don't have a car this would be a great place for a weekend away. On leaving it was more like saying good bye to friends than checking out, such was the welcome of our stay. We'd definatly recomend you stay.
Ardwyn House has to be one of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed at. Katie and Roger made us feel extremely welcome from the moment we stepped through the door. The house itself has been beautifully renovated in art nouveau style and the rooms are extremely comfortable. a real treat was the home-made cake that appeared at tea time every day - get Roger to bake the Lemon Drizzle cake if you visit - it is to die for! Breakfast was wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay - we can't recommend it highly enough! No - we liked everything!
Lovely family running the hotel. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Very good cooked breakfast and charming surroundings. Would certainly return again. No.
We enjoyed our stay in every respect. The house was beautyful and excellently renovated, our room including bathroom very lovely, also breakfast room, launch and library with pool billard. But most of all to be complimented are the hosts, a very likeable young couple that does everything to make you feel welcome, cooks a wonderful breakfast, bakes cakes etc. They are always friendly and ready for a joke. Best regards to Katie and Roger, all the best to you and thank so much again.
We had a wonderful time. The house is spacious and beautiful. Our room had amazing views. Afternoon tea was homemade lemon drizzle cake and a cafetiere of coffee. The breakfast was lovely and all cooked to order. The rooms were great with an amazing roll top bath. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets were of thr highest quality. There is Molly the dog on the premises, so if you are not a dog lover that maybe a bit tricky.
very enjoyable stay in comfortable room with excellent breakfast.
The generous breakfast that kept us going all day long Coming back to a warm friendly welcome each day that included freshley baked home-made cakes The lovely friendly atmosphere of the guest house Roger's little scenic drives None
The Ardwyn House exceeded all expectations. R and k were the perfect hosts, the breakfast was by far the best I've had at a b&b, the room was spacious, clean and very, very comfortable with a huge en suite which was also spotless! We found the location of Ardwyn House to be perfectly located - the coast, Brecon Beacons, and so much more are all within an easy country drive. R and k are very knowledgeable about the area and are only too happy to help point you in the right direction; our trip was all the more enjoyable for having followed their advice! I cannot think of a single bad point. We enjoyed our stay immensely.
