Central location, free parking, nice room, excellent breakfast.
The location: I appreciate to be in the city centre 1 - the smell all night long into the toilet room. 2 - to be without a private park zone.
Great breakfast! Nice rooms.
Nice and friendly staff
Very professional and efficient receptionist. World class! The hotel is well run and has a good location. The rooms are clean and modern. The restaurant service is not up to the level of the reception, but charming in its "countryside" fashion.
very nice lobby with fireplace no espresso coffe-machine
Good location and breakfasts Rooms are noisy, we experienced allot of noise from corridor and other rooms.
Beautiful location. Friendly staff. Pool and sauna. Midnight sun so it never got dark for those late night walks. Close to Lillehammer with good restaurants and a nice Olympic Museum and also a folk museum, Maihaugen, with houses and buildings from 1200 to present. The jaccuzzi was part of the pool so it wasn't hot.
Gourmet restaurant is excellent, with attentive service. Location is dramatic, but roar of waterfalls gets tiresome. Room had Murphy bed which sways with each movement. Staff was indifferent. Main dining room had all the "charm" of a hospital dining room - assigned seatings (we never were assigned one, so had to hunt for a table without a card on it).
Proximity to the Hafjel ski resort. Good service in terms of staff friendlyness and attentive. Overall a good place to stay for a short break. The rooms are a bit too basic and the daily cleaning is fairly 'light touch'. Our room was missing pillows and the bed cover other rooms had and it wasn't replaced in the three nights we spent there although this was not a big issue for us.
Swimming pool Dining arrangements
The hotel is situated in the City Center, with easy parking. The bed was fairly comfortable and the room was nice and clean.
Breakfast was god
There wasn't a lot about this hotel to praise. It was summer and Lillehammer is probably at its best in winter but this hotel needs a serious makeover anyway the best thing is the location in the centre of town but still only about 1 minutes drive from the main E6 road. Plenty to dislike. The hotel is very out dated and needs some care and attention, the rooms are well past their past in terms of layout and comfort. It is not good value for money at all. When checking out their credit card machines had gone off-line so they insisted that we had to pay for the room in cash - lucky we had the cash available but for a hotel not to be able to take a credit card and then have no viable back-up plan seems to me in this day and age a real problem.
Location was excellent.
People were friendly and breakfast was good.
good parking. nice and quite no
Very good location in Lillehammer with easy access to ski bus, railway station and the centre of the town. In the room there was no coffee/ tea facility, no hairdryer.
located across from train station, small but good breakfast very old furniture and decor, but newer bathroom. needs remodeling
The hotel is located very close to the pedestrian street. THe superior room is very spacious. I asked for double room with king-size bed when booking but on arrival we were given a twin bedded room without any note. So we aksed for change and since king-size were not available they offered us a superior room (for extra money) with queen-size bed. The bed was very small and had a big space between it and the back wall - so the pillows were always falling down there. The TV was quite small also. The hairdryer was lacking power so I could not dry my hair sufficiently. The breakfast room is located in the far end and was very cold. The food choice was quite poor. The reception lady did not care much for her guests and did not even smile or say good-buy when we checked-out.
Location next to the railway station The standard of the room does not justify its price. I stayed at the Hotel Savoy in Jonkoping over the weekend and it was fabulous.
Friendly staff and impressed with evening meal included. Private garage where you can keep motorbike og car. none
Staff and hygiene was really good The Breakfast
Room rate includes Breakfast and evening Smorgasbord-style light dinner. Food great. Main Street location easy walk to everything. Very friendly and helpful staff. Expensive, by other European City standards. no swimming pool,
Hotel very well located, easy access, friendly. Rooms downstairs even if they have no view, are really calm and the curtains mask effectively the light. Efficient front desk.
Evening buffet included in the price. Very nice and friendly staff. We didn't arrive until late(after midnight) and we received a bowl of soup on arrival!
The staff were friendly and helpful, when we arrived at 10pm they got us some bread and snacks to eat. They were very efficient. We had a lovely fresh breakfast. They even allowed us to make a couple of sandwiches for our long journey north the next morning and gave ice lollies to our girls.
Fine location in Storgata, inviting room, great offer of waffles and light evening meal included in the price, good design throughout - and still a feeling of home away from home. For the price I paid, this hotel was good value indeed. The towels in the bathroom were perhaps a little small.
Location, light diner, Small rooms, and beds, basic for 4 stars hotel.
The Birkebeineren is a complex which was used for accommodation for Olympic athletes. The room was really a suite with two rooms which included a pull out to make an extra bed if needed. We had a fridge, two TVs and nice bathroom facilities. The breakfast was very good and parking was free and near by. The staff were great ambassadors for Norway. The only negative aspect of the stay was that we had some difficulty finding the hotel and Lillehammer is hard to get around in. Parking is expensive in town.
Family apartment was good
The location availability of parking situation in nature
Clean, spacious, warm Nothing
The young lady at the reception really had a happy disposition, and the dining table and the fridge right at the room's entrance certainly helped to make us feel at home. Having known Birkebeineren as a youth hostel, I enjoyed the old pictures on the walls. Great breakfast! Nothing serious, but the bed was a bit too soft. And it would be nicer if, at unfolding the sofa, the bed would be ready for the kids. (We got there pretty late and tired).
the big room the noise of the fridge in my room
Nice place and price is ok, if you compare to other hotels in Norway. No restaurant to eat dinner.
I stayed at two other hotels during my time in Lillehammer, and this hotel was not only the cheapest (even for a deluxe room), but by far the best and offered beautiful scenery, comfortable room, and a helpful staff. The breakfast was by far better (and yes, you clean up after yourself as another review mentioned, big deal!) and they have a recreation room and washer/dryer available to use.
Large room with plenty of space for luggage, clean, easy to carry luggage in and out. The hotel was built with prefabricated modules to be used during the Winter Olympic games in 1994. The guestbed for the kids was in a poor shape, and the staff did not compensate for the fact that our 16 year old son did not sleep much the night we stayed there. We hope that the hotel will fix the guestbed, and that future customers will be able to sleep better.. The receptionist told us that they had ordered new mattresses, but we told them that it was the bed itself it was something wrong with. The breakfast buffet is not impressive, but fair enough.
location is excellent, very quiet and peaceful, on a hill above the town. the reception staff spoke a pretty poor english (very strange for Norway, actually). anyway, they seemed to understand everything I've said, so that we managed to communicate to each other :)
Nothing. It was the only one available, otherwise I would have never ever chosen it.
Location was good. And the breakfast was as good as the one in a hotel It was difficult to find because We did not know it was actually at the station!!!
Cheap, clean, comfortable, ideally situated, good breakfast None, really. Perhaps some noise from the bus terminal outside, but not too bad
Excellent service and friendly staff. Room was very clean and quiet. Soap dispenser not working.
food, rooms, pancakes, tv set, beds...
Friendly people at the reception desk The bathroom wasn't cleaned during our stay of 3 nights.
The accommodation was very clean, however, very basic. As a family with young children we required a room to sleep all. The beds were in the form of bunks, which the children enjoyed. The location of the hostel / hotel is on the railway platform, so it is ideal as a stop off, if en- route to other areas of Norway. The staff were helpful and the breakfast was a bonus. The beds were adequate for one nights stay , I dont think I would of liked to have slept on a bunk bed for longer.
Access to the kitchen The room was very small för three persons
Everyone was exceedingly helpful. Hans--a friend of the hostel--showed me around Lillehammer, for example, just to be friendly.
. basic room, good hotel for one night, very good location
For Norway this is a very well priced establishment, although their prices have gone drastically from two years back. If you have someone of limited mobility in your party (as I had this time) this may not be the location for you due to steep slopes. However, I cannot fault the apartments, great place for exploring Lillehammar Region, and the wild Raspberries at the bottom of the hill taste supberb!! I reccomend this place.
relaxed and friendly athmosphere, would definately reccommend it for families. The provision of a library type lounge was wonderful Our family room was somewhat smaller than described, with fewer beds. The window opened onto a conservatory type building, rather than outside. The room would have been very small for 4 people. The provision of a fridge was great
The size of the appartment. It was very spatial and hence comfortable I did not like the following: The fact that sheets plus pillow and blanket covers are not included in the deal and are rented separately, and the fact that this issue's publication is not emphasized sufficiently in the hotel's information page on the web.
To small family rooms
Very comfortable and cosy hotell. There are many things to do for children in sommer time.
Excellent value for money! Where else can you get your own private Sauna, fantastically equiped Self Catering Apartment and Mountain Views for 600Kr per night. If you want to see Lillehammer and the surrounding area, this is where you stay!! You must do the Hjafell Cable Car!!
The close distance to the main road, close to sports and family events. Quiet and relaxing and the breakfast was OK.
very quite ,well equipt
Space and value for money Were given instructions on the room on Norwegian - don't speak or read Norwegian
The staff and the hotel itself and the location
