Breakfast was lovely, basic and fresh French fare with fresh coffee, orange juice, croissants, apricot jam and delicious local butter. There was baguette as well and tea. The cave is gorgeous, beautifully decorated and comfortable. The shower is very nice! Linens comfy and smelled amazing. No shampoo or soap provided so bring your own. Hairdryer is there as well as a de-humidifier to help with the mustiness of a cave, but don't forget it still is a limestone cave so there is a bit of a smell. It adds to the charm, though. The garden and view are amazing, even though we stayed in December so no chance to enjoy it for long. Would definitely come back in spring or summer for longer with friends or so as she has a bigger space with more rooms and a kitchen we could use next time if we book that instead. The lady speaks French, is adorable and elderly, very sassy and wonderfully nice. I don't know how her English is but it seemed like it was very limited. She gave us a restaurant (amazing food and service) recommendation at the bottom of the hill, though there aren't many options in Troo. She even called and made a reservation for us. Bed was very comfortable, heavy nice blankets and beautiful antique furniture. There was an extra cot for a 3rd person but we were only 2, however that mattress was extremely thin and uncomfortable on the metal bedframe. If you rent the other rooms, they have sofa couches and actual beds so that looks way more comfortable. We had the double room and loved it. There was no soap in the bathroom but we had some shampoo with us fortunately. When we arrived exactly when we said we would, the lights were off and no one was there. The two phone numbers from the booking.com profile and our confirmation email didn't work. Fortunately there was a phone number on the front gate and I was able to reach the host. She arrived then within 10 minutes to let us in. The place was ready for us fortunately and warm, but we waited outside in 0 degrees Celsius weather. It was also very difficult to find the room. GPS instructions posted on the booking confirmation led us down false one way, extremely narrow mountain driveways where our driver nearly had a heart attack trying to get out. There is in fact a place to park and turn around down the east entrance to the upper road, but it's not labelled anywhere and no instructions were given. This could be improved on the booking profile for those who don't speak French to ask neighbors for directions :) Wifi didn't work in the room because the router is in the salon which is a separate entrance and the cave walls are between, which of course are stone (part of the fun experience!) but this made it difficult to arrange next steps on our trip since wifi was expected. The wifi did work very well over breakfast.
This is a very unique place to stay in a very unique setting. It is a cave but has everything you need and want and it was very comfortable. Breakfast was served every morning. Madam was very friendly and helpful but we also had our privacy. Great stay.

Remarkable location in a spectacular setting
A little chilly —it’s a cave after all —but we soon settled in and slept well
Very nice homemade breakfast in the main parlour. Hotel has only two rooms and the landlady lives just below. She was flexible as to prepare breakfast early for our departure. Communication through my bad French and her similar level of English was challenging but fun.
Finding the place by car was really difficult. The site should mention to take the Rue Haut from the Troo Mairie (townhall) side (the road is inaccessible from the other side). Even the lady at the restaurant in front of Rue Haut made a mistake and directed us to the other side of town from where the road is not passable. The address of La Cave is the name of the stairways on which it is situated and not the road to arrive by car.
The quirkiness of the accommodation. It is very beautifully furnished and a very warm welcome by our hostess.
The humidity in the cave. This can be a problem if you have breathing difficulties. It was a bit difficult to find.
