Everything, especially the staff. Rose, our waitress, was absolutely wonderful. We can't wait to go back! The beds were a little uncomfortable, but this wouldn't deter me from going there again.
I liked its position, the view from the balcony The kitchen was scarcely equipped; at a rate of more than 80 euros per night one expects to be shown the room, to be explained how things work, etc.. but they simply took us to the room and bye; the fridge was disconnected when we arrived; they offered a free wifi access to customers with a laptop but there was no pc available to the public, which is strange since nowadays all hotels provide this service
For a a start, the name Balos Beach Hotel should not be applied to this hotel as it is located around 7 km from the famous beach (very misleading). No point of going there if you don't have a car. The road to the beach is a perilous dirt track on the cliff. The hotel did not offer food but it had a beautiful menu in the room. Breakfast which was not an option on Booking.com was offered to us for £7.00 after the lady said she had only toast. The nearest village Kaliviani is 1km away with 1 tavern and lots of dogs and the nearest supermarket 5km away. 3stars???? The owner did not want to refund us the last night as we wanted to leave one day earlier, saying Booking.com would not allow it in their contract. It's a no go for me..
Quiet place near the beach, perfect for the relaxation. The host is very friendly, and all hotel has amicable atmosphere.
Quiet and close to the beach with a sea view from the studio Being mothballed for winter so no facilitiies
If you look for the luxury, the apartments Mediterraneans don't do for you. The Mediterraneans apartments have the main point instead, together with the cleaning, to the climate, and above all to the gentleness of the Sig. Dimitri, of his wife and of the waiters.
the pool far from the village (by foot)
Everybody was really nice. They clean the rooms everyday. Simple but well preserved furniture. The sheets were superclean and the beds a bit hard but comfortable. Fridge on the room, AC not included on the price. The breakfast was great and you can have it next to the amazing and clean pool. Quiet rooms. Easy to find from the main road of Kissamos, for us was the perfect spot to investigate the West coast with a car. If you don't have a car this is not your place unless you plan to stay here or around Kissamos. Tje restaurant wasn't very cheap.
Friendly owners! Simple but nice breakfast served next to the pool in open space. Nice pool and very quiet beach with free beds and parasols. Rooms/terrace are spacy and recently build. For us the location was very good because the hotel is situated at the countryside (quiet/nature), but if you want to go to Kissamos town you need to be motorised because the road is not adapted for pedestrians, a taxi could bring solution here. We havn't got any complains but it would be nice if the towels would be changed e.g. every 3 days.
The courtesy of the satff, nice view on the pool in the inside garden; good breakfast. very clean room and great bathroom The location is easy to find on the main road, but a bit far form the seaside and center of kissamos
It was very handy for a late-night arrival by ferry- quite close to the port. Its also not far to walk to the bus station. Very nice atmosphere and pool area. Very helpful and freindly staff. spotlessly clean, largish bathroom. the only point I can fault it on is not accepting credit cards
The newly renovated bathrooms were great and made the 70s era decor of the main room all the more charming. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the bakery 2 blocks away was fantastic - Go there!!
Great hotel in excellent location. Very friendly staff helped us organise an excursion to the nearby Balos lagoon. Room clean and tidy. Superb bar and pool facilities. 5-10 mins walk into Kissamos town centre and beach.
Good staff. Quiet and well-heated.Everything is within walking distance. A bit too pricy for a stay during February in a Cretan hotel in a small town.
Hotel was so clean and smart we thought it was brand new. In fact it is 30+ years old! Family were friendly, polite, spoke good English and clearly worked very hard. Not really, but I think grandad (a lovely man) should probably now hand over all reception work to the next generation and enjoy his retirement.
We will always stay at the Kissamos Hotel when visiting Kastelli Kissamou. It's elegant without being pretentious and is run by two charming brothers. It's situated in the main street of this very nice ordinary Greek working town - not too touristy, which suits us fine - but it's only a short walk to the sea and it has a nice swimming pool. Excellent and reasonably priced. Absolutely nothing.
The staff service was excellent
Good location for beach and waterfront tavernas. Friendly staff and great little pool. Nice relaxed atmosphere.
Courtesy of the staff and strategic location near the main beashes of the west coast of crete (Balos, Falasarna...). Very relaxing environment and typical greek style.
Good position, easy way to reach Balos e Falasarna. Great confort and food. Quality/price ok.
The location is great, with a big terrace with sea view. The Hotel is also a restaurant conduced by Eftihia, with excellent food (don't miss "Goat with Honey" and "Meat Balls"). The breakfast was one of the best we've ever done (ask for "Kaliviani Breakfast", with delicious yogurt with honey, fruits, and other things). All the staff was incredible kind, specially Giannis who helped us with the strike gasoline problem. During our 4 nights, room was cleaned just one day and towels were not changed. If you are a couple, mind that they have only twin beds, that cannot be united without a gap in the middle. In any case, these problems were very little things compared to all the other positive things.
Breakfast: tasty, yummy & unique; not to be missed. Room: quite traditional. Restaurant: well maintained & aesthetically furnished. Good value for money. Location: great for visting Balos lagoon, Falasarna & the rest of W.Crete. Bathroom: needs improvement; water leaked during our stay. TV: old & v.few channels. Food@lunch/dinner: just ok; not great. Bar on location wasn't open.
The location was superb in an unspoilt Cretan village. It was also close to the historic site of Falasarna, which was well worth a visit. Room was spacious with a pleasant balcony offering distant sea views. Bathroom needs refurbishing. Water was cold, as weather was not sunny and warm enough for solar heating, but hotel should make alternative heating arrangments.
Swimming pool Check-in: We were not expected on their planning!! Noise : Hermes hotel is on the main road. Environment : very poor, no flower, plastic grass near the pool, no tree!!
It was very quite and the location was idea for seeing the sights. The pool was very nice and well maintained. The staff was helpful and professional. The buffet breakfast was a bit lacking and they advertised internet throughout the entire building, which was not the case.
the climitazion may be better
The staff were very kind. The breakfast was very poor.
Clean Building is not nice. Location is not very nice, although good base to visit Gramvousa, Balos.
The staff was great! Extremely helpful and nice. The pictures online are a little misleading which happens a lot, but they really make you think you are getting more for your money than you really are.
The hotel is good for visiting the beach around (elafonissi, balos, falassarna) The staff is not good and speak no english
The hotel is located close to the port. We wanted to take a trip to Gramvousa - hotel booked it for us. On emptying the bath we flooded the bathroom! Need to look at floor levels to help drainage or use a different slower emptying bath plug
