Cons: None
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything is prefect place, food, staff ,view. Recomend to choese this hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was really great. The ryokan is located next to a lot of great restaurants. A little far from the station, but they are very accommodating in working with you to pick you up / drop you off whenever you need to go to the station / a faraway store.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have been to Taiheikan before, and I will definitely come again. Really helpful staff that goes the extra mile to help, one of the best indoor onsens I have been to (as well as toilet and handbasin en suite), a large clean (traditional) room with a view of Mt Fuji, and located right next to lake Kawaguchi (which is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful areas in Japan). It is possible that you may get something better if you spend £500+ per night, but in the middle-range price category, Taiheikan is simply outstanding!
Cons: Nothing, really. You may need to be able to speak a little Japanese to get by (as one staff member is currently learning English), but that is just a good opportunity for practice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This ryokan is amazing! The staff are so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and the view from my room was incredible. The room was spacious with its own toilet. I had the onsen all to myself too! The garden just outside the onsen made my bath even more peaceful. The location was amazing as well. Thank you for everything! A perfect first ryokan experience.
Cons: Everything was amazing!
9.5 Excellent

10.0 Excellent

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing! I stayed for two nights and the breakfast was completely different on the second day. The onsen was a definite highlight - plus I had it all to myself when I visited. The staff were so lovely, especially Hiromi!
Cons: The only thing I was surprised at was that the room wasn't cleaned - even just to empty bins etc. - during my 2-night stay. Maybe this was just my expectation and it isn't standard service. Everything else was fantastic.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The stuff was extra nice and helpful. Loved everything about staying in this ryokan.. We were also very lucky that Fujisan was 100% visible from our room window in the morning
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Traditional japanese style where gave me comfortable feeling and experience while staying one night in this hotel. Hotel staff is nice and wonderful.

Pros: The Japanese breakfast and dinner feasts are awesome. Diverse selection of food and very filling. The service at the restaurant was wonderful. Special thanks to reception and the restaurant staff for postponing the shuttle car ride so we could have more time to finish our breakfast! Special delight was the “Library” next to reception, an artsy, jazzy area to lounge, read books, listen to music, and appreciate how lucky you are to be here!
Cons: Shame we could not see Mount Fuji due to the weather

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our favourite Hotel in Japan by far! The views of Mt Fuji across Lake Fujikawako, and views of city lights on the lake are breathtaking. The Hotel has both communal and private Onsen for guests which have everything you need - no need to go anywhere else!. On arrival you get a kimono house coat which guests can wear around the hotel if you wish, which is super relaxing. The restaurant is exceptional and best food and service in Kawaguchiko, and best views from the restaurant terrace! All staff were so helpful and spoke good english. We struggled to leave the hotel each day as it had everything we wanted in one spot! We were sad to leave and would of liked a few more days.

The beautiful pine trees lining the hotel garden, where you can sit and take in the views and sounds of nature, or walk down to the lake. Nothing could be more memorable. We experienced the warmest hospitality from the staff - their professional attention and cheerful demeanour, always a step ahead in anticipating our needs. The onsen and kaiseiki dinners are essential to the experience.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: To the personel of Asafuji; thank you so much for taking such good care of us and teaching us about Japanese culture. From the very moment you picked us up at the train station, to the personal introduction at the hotel, to the moment we were taken back to the station with all personel saying good bye, it was a big pleasure. It reminded me of visting my grandma, she used to spoil me as well. The onsen was very nice, but the diner was sublime! Thank you again!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It’s very clean and cozy. We booked a room that has Mount Fuji view with a big window. I like sitting in front of the window enjoying the view while drinking green tea. Their service is very good with pick-up service and have staff speak both Chinese and English.
Cons: There is not much choice of food over there. Restaurant closes very early. You need to book hotel’s breakfast and dinner beforehand, otherwise family mart is the only choice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great dinner and breakfast, great location, great Onsen, very friendly staff
Cons: Nothing
4.3 Okay
Pros: The real room is so much different from the expectation which the online pictures may want convey to you. The room is really simple with insects. The food facilities (including surroundings) are poor as well. And for some reason, I just glanced at the paper that says I was changed from room 403 (whic has a much better view) to room 401 (which is blocked a lot by the other building). Overall, not a good stay.
Cons: The staffs are polite, especially the drivers.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing and ymmmy breakfast(must try). Excellent service. Very clean. Fluent English and chinese translation service. Can view the fuji mountain when u are enjoying the hot spring.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was simply unbelievable. We checked in late due to a changing itinerary, and they were extremely understanding. Once we arrived, they promptly showed us to our room and even offered to make a reservation for us at a local restaurant since we had missed the dinner provided. In the morning, we received a call letting us know that our breakfast was ready. Additionally, their traditional Onsen and tatami mat rooms were great. Even though we could only stay for one night, the entire experience was extremely relaxing and I can’t recommend Asafuji enough!

Cons: The aircon wasn’t working properly, randomly heated the room or randomly switched off. Breakfast was mediocre.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The onsen is great
Cons: The view is not as good as expected
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We had a such a lovely time at Fujikawaguchiko and our stay at Konanso made it even more special. The rooms were very big so we had a plenty of space to stretch out and move around (my partner is a hippo so this was especially important!). The food was amazing too with a very good selection of Japanese and Western style food at the breakfast buffet. Having our kaiseki dinner served in our room made us feel special, and this experience was further enhanced by Kanon-san, who was responsible for our room (Rm 205). Kanon-san was a delight and she really brought a cheery presence to our dining experience. She spoke fluent English and was very tolerant of our limited (and grammatically wrong) Japanese. Her delightful anecdotes about Fujikawaguchiko and Japanese life in general really enhanced our time at Konanso and made us feel very welcomed as guest. Kanon-san capped off an amazing stay at Konanso for us and we will definitely be staying at the Konanso again the next time we visit Fujikawaguchiko again.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Service, location and facilities.

Pros: Absolutely fabulous place! Really nice and friendly staff, who gave us all the details and information about the hotel and surrounding area. Really clean and comfortable futons. Spacious tatami rooms, which were so lovely! Onsen were SUPER NICE! Very clean, spacious and lovely. Option for private in both small and big bath. Would totally recommend and stay there again!
Cons: Mixed bathrooms, which would be fine usually, but urinals right as you walk in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved everything about the place, but first and foremost the hospitality from the host. She was very kind and considerate of my condition - having traveled over 150km on bicycle. She gave me space, but when I opened up for conversation, she shared her stories and of Yamanakako lake area, great restaurant suggestions also. I very much liked its traditional feel and touch from the rooms to hand made (carved from wood!) key chain to each room. Jakoozee was fantastic, although sauna and outdoor onsen might have been nice addition. and it's very close (roughly 5 min walking distance) from Yamanakako lake.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice home, very nice host, we would have had a very nice view and experience of yamanakako if it wasn't for the weather...
Cons: the property only had Japanese name so we had a hard time looking for the property that has a 'Yabukisho' sign outside it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay in Yabukiso was excellent. The host was extremely friendly, she was very accommodating and she have us great information about the sightseeing areas around the area.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: A charming guesthouse with a lovely garden and an amazing view of Mt Fuji. Quiet and peaceful, ideal for relaxation. The host was very lovely and accommodating.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hostess who helped us in everything. She wonderfully told and showed everything. She dried our shoes after the rain. Even she speaks on English bad, but it didn't interrupt our communication. She is great. Onsen was incredibly nice, as a room in total. Clean, cozy. Like at home in the village for holidays.
Cons: I don't know. Like everything was great as at home
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely japanese bath and very very lovely staff!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The host was wonderful! She even drove my husband and me to the bus stop. The guesthouse was very clean, the room was large, the shower/bath was amazing. Our room had an awesome view of Mount Fuji.
Cons: The location was within walking distance of the local restaurants, but there isn’t much to do in Yamanakako, but there is a bus stop to ride closer to the mountain and a walk around the lake isn’t bad
10.0 Excellent
Pros: nicely arranged washoku (traditional japanese) breakfast extremely nice owners, very sweet family the caretaker speaks a bit of english great location, very close to the lake but far enough away from the street to be very quiet comfortable futons (not an implicitness in Japan) amazing hot bath
Cons: nothing in fact :)

Pros: Everything was great. It felt like we were staying at someone’s home for a few days! The family were lovely and super attentive, who all went above and beyond to ensure we got the most out of our stay, and tailored our breakfast to suit our dietary requirements, making us feel like we were at a 5 star hotel at times. Thank you all very much for everything!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the Serene location and the staff were absolutely brilliant
Cons: Nothing to say I absolutely loved it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host is very nice. Helped us to carry our bags upstairs. The breakfast was nice. The outdoor onsen, although small, is good enough for private use. My husband and I can use it together. We have booked 3 rooms and they put all our rooms upstairs on the same floor.
Cons: The room size is a bit small.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My husband, friends and I all looked to our overnight onsen experience as a highlight of our trip. Some of the points that made our visit so wonderful were: -Wonderful onsen experience -Helpful owners that went out of their way to make your stay memorable -Shuttle to the train station -Delicious homemade breakfast -Mix of Japanese and European style
Cons: Not really something I disliked, but be prepared for the owners not speaking much English. A few of my friends had some limited use of Japanese, which made things much smoother than they would have been otherwise.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Quiet setting, good breakfast, very friendly hosts, free use of city bicycles, laundrymat close by. Nice outdoor hot tub/Jacuzzi
Cons: The location is slightly out of town, but the hosts offer to drive you into town or local restaurants and pick you up so it wasn't a problem. This wasn't really a negative but just to make you aware that it is not in the center of town.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely place to stay. A characterful property, warm and cosy, in an idyllic setting. With limited English, the owner is helpful and courteous; facilities are acceptable, including a private Onsen. The rooms are of a very good size, clean and with all the necessities.
Cons: I made the mistake of forgetting my International Driving License and so couldn't rent a car - Don't make the same mistake, your own transport is an absolute must at this property!!!! The free pick-up and drop-off to/from the station is at very restricted times (to suit the owner). Communication with the hotel is quite limited but that could be due to the language barrier. Does not have a proper shower, just a handheld shower hose
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were delightful - very friendly and helpful. They gave us a lift into the town, booked us a restaurant for dinner, and took us to the mid-winter fireworks display (we didn't know there was one).
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were incredibly accommodating, picking us up from the station, driving us to Fuji Q and back and lending us torches. Very friendly and lovely even though they claimed to have poor English. Room was decent size, comfy and clean.
Cons: Our room was set up with two single beds, but may have just been an error with the booking I made. Although my husband and I didn't mind walking through the forest to get to some restaurants for dinner, it may bother some people.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fancy breakfast with a thoughtful touch. And there’s a onsen room where we can soak a tired body with a hot spring. The interior and exterior design brought a european ambience which is very unique and full of character.
Cons: The staff cannot speak english. It’s bit hard to communicate but they had a pocket translator. The bed is hard and the pillow is minimalist. The location is in the woods. It’s not walking distance to the nearest shop or restaurant. But they are willing to pick up and drop off every day.

Cons: a bit too expensive
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great view and clean room. nice staff and great food.
Cons: You have to go to the hotel by yourself when you get to the town. Approximately 3000JPY from the train station to the hotel.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Incredible Experience and beautiful resort! It is expensive, but it's worth a 2-nights stay and experience the Hoshinoya concept and culture. Staff was really top notch, friendly and helpful. Even when I was sick, they helped out with medicine. From check-in to check-out, everything was perfect. There are some outdoor activities, from cooking class, to chopping wood, driving with your bike, or hanging out at the cloud terrace during sweet times and enjoy baumkuchen and drinks in midst of the forest. Prime view location onto Mount Fuji with the Kawaguchiko Lake in front. I could not imagine a better spot to enjoy the view of Fujisan.
Cons: Food was very good, but we had expected more options for Japanese traditional food. We had Shabu Shabu and Japanese Curry for dinner. It was delicious. Also breakfast was great, but still very western-oriented.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are so considerate and prepare so many wonderful presents to my wife and me.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: everything the staff and everyone
Cons: the food not enough selection
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about our stay once we reached the hotel was perfect. The staff were more than happy to answer any and all questions and we felt truly spoiled during our stay there, from our luggage being delivered to and from our room on check-in and check-out respectively, and being gifted tea-bags that were not for sale but that we had tried in our rooms on one night (they were complimentary). More than that they really nailed the entire glamping experience at Hoshinoya Fuji. Admittedly we had opted for a lot of their activities, mainly having all of our breakfasts and dinners at the hotel, and were therefore able to immerse ourselves in its atmosphere. We tried the dutch-oven dinner on our first night, which is held in a covered podium in the middle of the woods, and ended up having the most fun and delicious meal of our 14 day stay across Japan from Tokyo to Fujikawaguchiko, Hakone, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, and Wakayama. The attentiveness of the hotel really shows from the aprons they give you, to the creativeness of the dishes which all have a matching, hunter-gatherer theme to them, and to the ways they serve the dishes which almost always involve you creating or serving the dishes for yourself and your companions. The hot pot in-room dinner option was also a great way to enjoy the amazing balcony-lounge area in our room and the food was, once-again, super high-quality, healthy and very delicious, with a copious amount of vegetables, mushrooms and beef and pork, as well as a local noodle dish named Hōtō. During the daytime, the cloud-terrace area was an amazing place to relax and enjoy the fresh air while cooking up smores near the campfire (yes, there is a campfire that is constantly lit) and enjoying a fresh cup of fruity herbal tea. I can only describe our experience at Hoshinoya, but words really don't do justice to the entire experience.
Cons: The only truly convenient way to reach the hotel from Kawaguchiko station is by taxi, which can get quite expensive if you intend to explore around the town or go to nearby attractions such as Fuji Q amusement park.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is what made this resort so special. An outdoor oasis
Cons: Nothing
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: only the view of Fuji mountain, rainy day and couldnt see clearly. Staff was helpful even they dont speak English well
Cons: Value of money, 5 stars resort but no proper house keeping service, only changing towels, floor and stuff so dirty. Bed sheet didnt make properly. Staff dont speak English so well
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The view is unbeatable. The room we stayed in with a balcony was gorgeous! There was also a view from the bathroom. They brought us a complimentary fruit platter for our anniversary, which was a nice gesture! The kayaking was fun but expensive. The little exploring backpacks were nice and came with a free water bottle and snacks.
Cons: Didn’t like that breakfast or any food is not included in the rate of the room. They definitely overcharge for everything. It’s easy for bugs to get into the room, so make sure doors aren’t open for too long.

Pros: Nice and clean Very close and convenient to get to Mt. fuji station. Awesome complimentary refreshments. Esp the homemade bread.
Cons: Wifi connection is not too stable in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner makes homemade bread for guests to eat. It is delicious and makes the whole place smell so good! He also provided boiled and raw eggs and a really yummy granola cereal mix for guests to use. Plus, there were cute origami cranes on each of the beds!
Cons: Sound carries through very easily, but there were signs reminding people to be mindful of this.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were so friendly and the atmosphere great! Also was tho location good, fuji san station is less crowded than kawaguchico station to get to fuji san. You pass kawaguchico of course, but it’s only a 2 min busride. The included free breakfast was very good and convenient. Would stay again!! A real hostel experience in Japan, which aren’t easy to find!
Cons: /

Pros: Ot is a very easy going place. There was fresh bread and eggs, butter and jam. Milk and coffee for free. It is very clean.

Pros: A short 3 min walk to the bus station that gets you to Fuji 5th station. Hostel provided the best homemade bread. Very clean and bathroom was spacious. Ramen & sushi restaurant also 3 mins walk away.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Helpful host! Cozy hostel, comfortable, clean and neat.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hostel just a short walk from the station. We had a 3-bed room which was small but nice an clean right across from the wash basins. The shared wash basins, showers and bathrooms were also spotless, and there was soap, shampoo, cotton buds, body lotion and even a little sewing kit for everyone to use. The communal kitchen is tiny, but good to fix a quick meal or snack in (there are condiments, oil and spices you can use), the freshly baked bread and boiled eggs were a nice bonus, the coffee that came out of the machine was good. We rented bikes for just 500 yen each to cycle to the lake, with a stop at FujiQ Highland. If I ever were to go back to Japan, I would stay here again.
Cons: Nothing, it was all good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hostel provide bread, egg, coffee & tea to us, we like this food and feel so warm ! and, there is a lot of decoration & pictures, I like it.

Pros: The private room looks good. The bed was comfortable. The shared bathrooms were clean.
Cons: The room could have more hanging racks for jackets and bags. More lights at the room entrance would have been great.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The whole mood of the place is very nice. The beds are very nice even for bunk beds. Shared room is a little noisy as people will be packing and stuffs. Toilets are clean and equipped with everything you need in a trip. Towels, luggage storage and bicycles are available for rent at a very reasonable price. Very happy with the stay.
Cons: Nothing I can think of.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A very beautiful hostel with nice staff, good food& drinks and a cute cat ;)
8.0 Excellent
Cons: it too hot inside dorm, only 1 aircondition cannot flow everywhere.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It's been a while since my husband and I stayed in hostels and we where positively surprised by this one. We stayed in one of the private bedrooms with shared bathroom (clean and functional). The hostel is well designed, you can also find good food for a reasonable price, which is not easy in that area. It is a few blocks (10mn walking) from the bus station that will lead you to Mt. Fuji (Yoshida's stations) and among others. This hostel is a great and comfortable option if heading to Mt. Fuji for a couple of days without paying exorbitant prices. We would definitely stay there again if we ever go back.
Cons: The shared kitchen could use a stove.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice employee. good communication in English.
Cons: other guest were noisy.
6.8 Good
Pros: Nice staff and decorating is beautiful but I don't want to rest for second time.
Cons: 1. No free water for guest as normally hostel 2. Prepare your bed by yourself 3. Many strict rule. 4. Hot weather in the shared room

Pros: The staff are amazing!! So kind and friendly. We had stayed at Kagelow the night before hiking, and were able to leave our bags to pick them back up the next day. Unfortunately my partner got altitude sickness and we had to descend. They didn’t have any rooms left, but the staff helped us find a new hotel, contacted them to save us a room, and called a taxi for us! Absolutely amazing service! Will definitely stay here again!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's a very lovely hostel and I truly recommend this place. The atmosphere is very relaxing and I like their doors especially. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The dormitory room is very clean and the bed is comfortable. The bikes we rent from Kagelow are very nice.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Extremely cosy place which is the perfect setting to rest after a hard day of walking and climbing. The common spaces make all the difference!
Cons: A bit far away by foot from transportation.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly and made me feel welcomed. It was my first time staying at a hostel and wasn’t sure what to expect. My last night there, they had a community dinner to celebrate their 3rd birthday anniversary! It was a nice experience.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great view from our family room at Mt. Fuji.
Cons: It is a bit far from the train station if you have luggage to carry with you, but you can take a taxi.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The place is quiet and clean. The staff is really nice !!
Cons: The location is a bit far from the main station and the red/green line which you’ll probably use the most for traveling around the lake.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Check-in/out was easy. The staff was friendly. There was a nicely fully equipped kitchen. There is a view-deck on the roof that looks out on Mt. Fuji. Bike rental is easy and fun: cycling around the lake is very nice.
Cons: The locker in the room had no lock.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The kitchen and common areas were so lovely and spacious
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice locacion and good price
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The rooftop terrace allows to enjoy a wonderful view of Mount Fuji (access with quite steep stairs and a wooden ladder). Big kitchen, jam & coffee for breakfast (think about buying some bread in a nearby shop). Nice common room with various seating options (including hammocks).
Cons: Be aware that there are 2 K's houses in the city. The other one is much closer to the lake. The hostel sends a warning message after you book a room to make sure that you reach the right place.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Might have given a better mark for location if Mt. Fuji was in sight but that's not the fault of the hostel!!!! Just happened to be there on a very cloudy day!! Loved the lounge and kitchen area, they were really spacious, well stocked with utensils etc. and the staff kept cleaning constantly! The place was immaculate!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of K’s house was is the middle so it was easy to move around. The rooftop view was amazing. The staff there are super friendly and very helpful in giving some recommendation on places to visit. Overall really happy with my stay. Highly recommended!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic experience. The staff was so nice and helpful. The room is spacious and nice.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were excellent and always friendly and attentive. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast and Kaisecki dinner were an absolute highlight. The grounds of the hotel were magnificent and we absolutely loved having our own private onsen. We wanted to try a traditional Japanese Ryokan - in honesty it wasn't for us, but we really enjoyed the experience for a couple of nights and would highly recommend giving it a go. There is a nice restaurant just around the corner which was called charcoal dining, and this was away from the tourist traps on the main Street. It's a good location for the bus to Fuji's 5th station.
Cons: Not being offered water or a drinks menu with the meal was a little disappointing.
7.5 Good
Pros: Modern ryokan with private outdoor bath as well as indoor bathroom. Great dining experience.
Cons: Really expensive. Limited meal times.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were truly exceptional, some of the most attentive service we've received. The breakfast was also spectacular and they even provided a western option for my wife.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fuji Onsenji Yumedono has a unique atmosphere and provides an authentic Japanese experience situated in an old fashioned building with a private Onsen, a special breakfast experience and nice traditional guestrooms.
Cons: We were unable to make a dinner reservation as it has to be made 5 days in advance.
6.3 Good
Pros: I have stayed here before and wanted to show my family a real ryokan with an onsen. I'm sad to say, I was very disappointed, even though some things have improved. One positive I must mention is that the food was absolutely incredible.
Cons: The staff... They are rude, and I also experienced this last time, however it seems to have become worse. We were literally chased around the place by the receptionist demanding that we pay right away rather than at check out, which ruined our last morning staying there. We were made to feel like criminals or something by this person. In addition, when we checked in we had to wait in our room a long to wait for the staff to welcome us and introduce us. Again, time wasted and I think it just seemed like they did not really respect us or our time. When the staff came to make our beds, they did not say anything to us at all, just came into the room and chatted between themselves. Again, I found this very rude and quite unlike the level of service and politeness I would expect in a hotel/ryokan, and especially in Japan. Aside from the poor service and unfriendliness of the staff, the place itself has definitely aged in the few years since I last visited. The outdoor walls need a paint, the room in places looks a little tired, and the salt has built up in the onsen. I think the "love" is missing here and they only now care about making money, and making sure they get paid. In all, I would not really recommend this experience, especially given the price, you should try elsewhere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location, nice facilities, excellent staff. Food was incredible! Onsen very relaxing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff and service were amazing.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: A very beautiful resort onsen. We had an onsen suite which meant we had our own private onsen. It was wonderful to use as the nights were chilly. Loved it! The staff was excellent and spoke great English, which was quite helpful since our Japanese is very basic! We would stay here again!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The suite was amazing, the personnel, the food, the design, the onsen, the pick-up service at the station, almost everything
Cons: Maybe just a lack of flexibility on check out (charge $80 for one more hour is expensive and 11am is check out time in Japan)

Pros: Breakfast and dinner was incredible, the location was excellent and we were easily able to visit attractions in the area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The facilities are very traditional Japanese and well maintained. Staff service is excellent, more than I could have asked for.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Food is really good (both breakfast and dinner), and they change ur menu if you are staying more than one day. Room is clean and comfortable. They provide good skin care product, which is a plus. Stuff is kind and welcoming. They provide private van to drive you to the big station every 30 mins.
Cons: missed one dinner the first night due to late arrival and nothing could be done. Private onsen needs extra fee to book and doesnt look like the picture. It is not open air, and left-sided view is blocked by the building.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Tried three of onsens! I love the view of kawaguchi lake in the room. The food was of exquisite taste and quality, and the server showed us the best of Japanese food culture.
Cons: We did have a chance to see Mount Fuji because of the weather. It’s rainy season in July.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: spacious room with lake and cherry blossom view onsen
Cons: breakfast is awful
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The Hotel is located on one of the Five Lakes near Mount Fuji. We hired a car from the outskirts of Tokyo and it was about an hour and a half to drive. Easy to find with google maps and pocket wifi. Easy to drive in Japan for British as they too drive on the left. The hotel welcome was lovely, with someone in the car park waiting to welcome us (we'd arrived earlier in the morning and had checked the location of the hotel before visiting places around the lake, and I think they only have someone in the car park from 2pm which is the earliest check in time). The staff don't speak English very well, but there are various notes written in English to accommodate which you are given on check in, so it's not a problem. There is a note in the room to say to come down to reception if there's a problem, so they can use a translator app to help them understand. It is all very traditional (we opted to stay in a Japanese style room), and a wonderful experience. The Onsens are amazing. Both downstairs (indoor) and on the roof (outdoors, no view of Fuji unless you rent the private one for a half hour slot - thought about it but didn't bother in the end. This is well notified before booking). There is a rooftop you can go up to with fabulous views of Fuji. It really is very close. Robes and slippers with instructions for putting them on are given to you when you arrive. The staff are SO polite. The Onsens were generally empty - we ended up going before dinner and before breakfast each of the 2 days we were there. Instructions in English on how to use them are provided in your room. Dinner was served in private dining rooms - you were asked to state a time when you checked in. This is so that the staff know when to go to your room and put your beds out on the tatami mats. The food was a traditional Japanese banquet comprising so many courses! We had lobster the second day, amongst other things. Breakfast was in a small dining room.
Cons: Nothing.

Cons: The tatami room smelled a bit (even when we had the windows open all the time). Really big breakfast (we could never finish it, and they had to throw away half of the food).
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast and dinner are good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Had a fantastic overnight stay at Rakuyu when stopping over in Fujikawaguchiko for a short stay travelling Japan. The staff were absolutely lovely and attentive - they also spoke English very well which was ideal as although we know key phrases in Japanese we don’t know a lot. We stayed in a Japanese style room, which we loved, it was exactly what we had hoped for! We also decided to have a private onsen as I have tattoos and didn’t think I’d be able to go into the public one (a staff member kindly informed me that because it’s a small one I would be allowed) but we preferred to go for a private one so we were together as we were travelling as a couple. All in all, we had a great stay at Rakuyu.
Cons: The uphill walk that you have to take if you don’t get the shuttle bus to the hotel - HIGHLY recommend it if you have your cases/bags with you, would be best not to walk

Cons: May not suit others seeking a non traditional experience.

Pros: Family owned great atmosphere place, very clean, nice people. Got swimming pool!
Cons: The sign at the front was a little bit hard to see.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent view and meals.
Cons: Japanese army practice next door
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a room with a view on Mount Fuji. Sadly, the mountain only showed itself for a very brief moment. The room was spacious. The owners provided us with all the necessary things. Towels, soap, shampoo, etc. The windows had a mosquitera which was helpful. In general we liked the room and our stay at the hotel. The owner was kind enough to take us back to the train station. It was unexpected. There is onsen on the premises, so that was nice as well.
Cons: The price of breakfast was outrageous. We were going to Lawson (15 minutes walk) to get food. That is the main reason for our lowered rating. One more thing. The windows need some renovation. There was rust and dust all over them. There is not much to do in the area. There are some ponds which you can visit, but not much more I'm afraid. Mount Fuji is very capricious, you can't really see it for the most part of the year.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, location, amazing view, amazing food
10.0 Excellent

Cons: The showers and heating in the single room didn’t work.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, wonderful view of Mt Fuji from our room, and amazing food (we had the Japanese style breakfast and dinner each day)! Free parking on site and you can pay with cash or card. The baths are great for private or family use. If you get the chance, they have the sweetest old dog - give it a pat and it will love you forever. Would definitely return.
Cons: The outside of the building is a little old looking, but don't be fooled, it is lovely, clean and traditional inside.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fujitomita is admittedly my favorite place to stay in Japan pickup and delivery next morning back at Fujisan station are a great service since the location in rural Oshino is a bit out of the way, and navigating Japanese local buses is not an easy job now under new management, the place is still a dream come true lovely peaceful quiet setting in rural Oshino village on the shoulder of Mt. Fuji all amenities, overwhelmingly friendly staff absolutely eager to make your stay as pleasurable as possible the owner is an accomplished chef, dinner and breakfast in Japanese style is about the best you can eat
Cons: nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was so much more than what we expected! It was luxurious and all staff was very helpful and attentive! Really recommend to check in here when visiting Fuji. View was excellent and a dream come true
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I like the room I booked. It was as described. I have the view of mt. Fuji and big enough. Free orange drinks in the fridge, sweets and the coffee maker is great, you grind your own coffee so very fresh. They have private bath which I never had a chance to use as it is always occupied when I go. So check when it is not busy. Breakfast was great spread so much variety. I love it worth having breakfast. Staff were helpful. It's also clean.
Cons: The location is a not near the kawaguchiko station and the hotel shuttle is only until 6pm. So if you want to eat dinner outside of the hotel, you need to make your own way back by taxi. It would be better service if they extend to 7pm too like some hotel shuttle we noted.
