In a really cute town. The staff were really friendly. Room was spacious and the beds were really comfortable.
It is a beautiful house in a little village located on the "Heideroute", which makes it very central to nice walks. House is spacious and atmospheric. We had a room with a seating area outside, which was amazing after a long trip - to sit in the sun, stretch your legs, let the feet sink in the grass. The house has a little fridge with drinks, which you can simply pick up and write down what you took to be charged during the check out. Very useful - we were there for Eastern and every shop would be closed, and there is but one restaurant in the village. Breakfast is quite copious with cheeses and sausages, eggs, yoghurt, fruits and many-many home-made jams. For Eastern all guests got a handful of Lindt chocolate eggs. Was a nice touch.
The house indeed has all the facilities mentioned in the description - sauna, fireplace, swimming pool, but you have to be proactive to use them. Maybe we were out of the main walking season, but unless you are a careful reader of Booking webpage, there is nothing in the house that tells you sauna and swimming pool are there - no signs on the doors, no information in the room, no explanation during the check in. Once we asked - we got full explanation. Swimming pool was covered and needed opening/closing, and sauna needs to be booked in advance, as it heats for 45 min before it can be used. So just be proactive. Second point - the house in general is very clean, but note that it is pet friendly and a lot of people come with dogs. So if you are even mildly allergic - pay attention. In our room dog hair was still very visible - on the couch and on curtains, for example. Third (and my biggest) - although the beds are fine to sleep in them, there should be somewhere an extra parameter of "romance-friendliness", and on this parameter they would not score high. The bed in our room was squeaking very loud with any attempt to move in it...
The breakfast was very nice.
The pool wasn‘t open yet, which wasn‘t announced neither on booking.com nor on the hotels own homepage. I need to be in the water for health reason and I had therefor brought bathrobe and bathing suit in my hiking back pack.
Very good breakfast. Staff was really nice and helpful. The room was comfortable. It is an old hotel, which shows, but nonetheless very tidy, clean and quiet.
Clean, comfortable, very helpful staff.
No facilities for getting a hot drink during the day or evening.
This family-run country hotel is set in a tranquil side-street location, near the centre of the pretty village of Undeloh, in the heart of Lüneburg Heath. The Landhaus Heideschmiede is the ideal place to come on a romantic getaway, a family holiday or merely a leisurely or relaxing break. Enjoy the cosy furnishings in the rustic style rooms. Go for a nice swim in the indoor pool. Relax in the coffee garden, fireplace lounge, sauna or sunbathing terrace.
