Proximity to Stowe and its attractions Heating was basic. Not sure what it would be like in Winter
beautiful area. good restaurant a bit far from village center
the scenery and its peaceful location. The atmosphere was great and being a family everyone was interested in your stay.Of course the setting was beautiful
The friendliness of the hosts, they served us very well. The rooms are of descent size The value for money could have been better. The rooms could use an refreshment-course.
The hotel was in a beautiful spot over looking the green hills of Vermont. The resturant was very nice with a good menu not large but freshly prepared and tasty. We enjoyed the hot tub didn't use the pool but it looked clean and well kept. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were well kept but maybe could have used some more homieness i.e. a couch or arm chairs also a small fridge for guest's use, for picnic items etc.
The owners were very friendly and helpful. The room was large and the bed comfortable.
The surroundings were beautiful and the bed was the most comfortable of anywhere we've ever stayed! Not a thing. We'll definitely be back!!
The cooked breakfast was minimal but well done and fresh. The rooms were not cleaned adequately and shampoo and soap were small and not replaced in a timely fashion. We came in late one day after being on the road all day and had no soap or shampoo. However, the owner did bring some up promptly.
Close to the Ski Area, Attached Restaurant,Good food, Outside Jacuzzi, friendly hosts
Breakfast was good, just not enough for the men. The smell in the room, no vacuuming on a daily basis, wash cloths not replaced with clean ones, shampoo not replaced when empty, towels left to be picked up were not.
Many of the reviews are ridiculously negative. This is one of the prettiest Inns in Stowe, and one of the best values. We've stayed a couple times, and the rooms are fresh, clean and up to date, in a charming old property a block away from the walking area and stores of Stowe downtown. It is true, as some of the reviews complain, that the free breakfast is not quite up to the standard of a historic property like the Stowe Inn. But it's OK.
The main building is gorgeous, and loaded with antiques The bar is awesome, with a very friendly bartender The staff is top-notch, friendly, helpful, and eager to please Would stay again in the main building (sans dog) The carriage house, (not the main building,) is run down You have to stay in the carriage house if you bring a dog Won't stay again in the carriage house
Conveniently located to the village and to the mountaintop and the price was right since it was off-season. The room in the adjacent building was a dump. I had booked looking at the photos of the rooms, which all looked nice and was looking forward to spending time there. However, when I arrived, my heart sank because the room didn't look anything like the pics and felt dirty. Once I saw the bathroom with the mold growing along all the caulking and the grout of the tile and the splatters and scratches on the bathroom door and urine at the bottom of the toilet, I decided not to look too closely anymore and not to take off my shoes. Perhaps the rooms in the inn itself are nicer but I had to book a pet room. My dog is only 10# though and non-shedding so he doesn't leave a trace. Nonetheless, I paid a $30 pet fee for a filthy room.
Great location Staff wasn't very friendly or accommodating. Rooms are out dated. When checking in we were told $4 for breakfast. The next morning it was $5, and they were out of everything besides watermelon and coffee. We were there at 7:30 am!
Very casual and easy to stay independent. Not fancy or stuffy. Rooms are outdated with old furniture and bathroom fixtures. Continental breakfast was very basic, though an excellent fruit bowl.
Granted, it was the only room left in town, the inn is picture perfect from the outside and a great location in town. The staff was a little scary with too many piercings. Had to wait for the room. The bath room was clean but the bed covers were really old and stained. Hard wood floors but no rug. Noisy wall heater We ended up walking around town and visiting all the great restaurants. We finally went back and were out by 7am. We were glad to have a bed but....didn't really feel comfortable
Wonderful staff and all around great stay! Virginia at the front desk was great at making recommendations of things to do and places to eat! The owner was very accommodating and quick to troubleshoot any issues!
Gracious innkeeper and all the charm you would expect from an inn at Stowe Vt. Very good dinner in restaurant Food was int the fridge
It is a locally owned hotel and old. But the people are wonderful and food is amazingood. They have a beautiful sitting area in the main house. If I were to go to stowe again I would happily stay there again. The tight covers by the bed, they were stringy and old. Because the rooms are old there is still I slight smell of smoke from all the years ago it was aloud, but it's not bad.
The location is pretty ideal. Walking distance to a few great spots to grab a bite. There was a part of the hotel that was historic and well maintained but the part we stayed in was borderline a Bates Motel. I'm not picky when it comes to just having a place to rest my head but it was still a little disappointing. Room also didn't have an iron and finding someone at the front desk to help with that conundrum was impossible so I just wore a different shirt. Not a big deal but certainly disappointing.
The private lake and the surroundings are very nice. They said the local phone call is free. When I checked out, they charged $1.00. The window of the room that is blocked with the slanted roof makes the room so dark during the daytime.
We had a issue with a noisy AC unit and they moved us at 11pm with no problems. We just slept in the other room, but the hotel did not make us move all our stuff which was great. My kids loved kayaking in the lake on the property.
it was available for what we needed during the British Invasion The tub and shower...
Rooms very thin walls heard evreything & tv
Room was on ground floor. Size of room was adequate, but not large. Beds were good. Buffet food was not hot and mediocre. Food was not good value for money.
Price Appearance..needs new carpets
They allowed 1 night stays when most of the other places were requiring 2-3 night stays. The motel is run down and needs some upgrading.
It was easy to find and in a very lovely location. Would have liked to have stayed for another day but our trip didn't allow it. The breakfast buffet was very good and fresh also.
We liked the pond in back with canoes, and kayaks that you can use. It's nice to walk around with your free coffee in morning. The kids like the pools and hot tub. It is centrally located for traveling north or south. They serve cookies in afternoon, a nice treat. The hotel was very clean, but wallpaper is dated and shoeing it's age by peeling or being ripped. Also with the increase in use of technology, the rooms could use more outlets, especially when 4 people gave their phones and other devices.
Location was great outside of town and on the recreation trail. Easy access to town as well as mountain. Was a good location to do fall foliage drives and hiking. Had a good breakfast restaurant with lots of choices. Rooms could use an update. Had a strong stale odor / carpet needs to be cleaned or freshened up. Would be an easy fix. Hits you when you walk into the room. Not a deal breaker though to staying again at an overall good hotel.
Perfect location for my needs. I wanted to go hiking in the Stowe area and this hotel served as a great hub for all my mini day trips. The staff respected my privacy, it was quiet, and the place was clean and comfortable.
Loved the historical charm of the place. Sloping floors, beds part propped up on bricks/blocks of wood to compensate for the floor. Very hospitable host, great on-tap beer in the restaurant. Lots of snow removal going on through the night, was a bit noisy. (if you can get a room that doesn't face the street you'll be better off).
