Very nice rooms, good food, secure parking. Fantastic value for money. As there were few guests, the dining room was closed and the room they used instead was dismal and windowless. Not a real problem though.
IT's location - set right in the middle of a beautiful village.
GREAT service, nice cafe, great quality for money restaurant, parking facilities..all exactly as advertised nothing, great for one or two nights
We thought the staff were very friendly & helpful. The food in the hotel was very good/
Helpful staff, good size comfortable room. Ease of access to the motorway and a good restraunte attached. Nothing comes to mind.
its location food,bar and service.
Really attractive village and location. Staff very helpful and friendly. A bit rushed taking the order for our evening meal. Not the relaxing experience I would have liked
We Have stayed at this hotel 3-4 times and have always found everyone helpful and friendly
good food,nice town,helpfull staff.
This is the fourth time that my family has stayed in this hotel...twice in July, and now twice again in December & January. Our return visits speak for themselves. It is well placed for motorway access, and the village of Murgia is quiet and close to a glorious National Park. There is even a bank machine and a chemist next door! The hotel is reasonably priced with large, well equipped rooms and a easily accessible secure underground garage at 4Euros 50 per night. A good selection of toiletries is made available. The staff are professional & friendly. Breakfast is 4 Euros and consists of freshly squeeezed orange juice, tasty fresh pastries and tea, coffee or hot chocolate. The sister hotel next door-..rather boutique in style.. offers a more sophisticated bar and terrace. We were disappointed by the level of warmth in both the rooms and bar area during our recent Winter visits. It was freezing outside and, on arrival, the rooms were baltic. When we went downstairs for supper we had to take out the 'Power/Entry Card', and they were freezing once more when we came back. it's our only quibble but an important one off season, especially as we were travelling with my wife's elderly parents who feel the cold.
Not as rural as expected. It was close to and overlooking a high way and in the middle of the industrial part of town. Not that charming!!
Quiet, friendly and helpful staff, clean, nicely decorated. It was very easy to get into Bilbao by train at the suggestion of an hotel staff member. There was not obvious to us that we could eat there in the evening and we spent ages unnecessarily trying to find a local restaurant, all of which were shut.
Beuatiful location even though next to an industrial estate and Motorway. Handy for the through traveller via Bilbao. Could have been more informative about evening meal arrangements. Recommendations for local restaurants not helpful.
friendly atmosphere quiet location Out of the way location which was nice but no dining facility which meant after a long day's drive we were obliged to go out again to eat in the evening and the local restaurant did not open till 21.00 although with a little persuasion this was bought forward to 20.30
The welcome and friendliness of the owners. Their lovely house in peaceful surroundings, the attention to detail in the decor and beautiful bedroom. A very relaxing place to stay and extremely good value.
no english speaking staff
The hotel was in a lovely, if not easy to find location, and the staff were great. As a bed and breakfast stop it is lovely. We had booked on the basis of being able to get an evening meal here. The restaurant is only for breakfast. It is under the flight path for the airport and a new road being built will make it a lot busier.
very comfortable room, and nice welcome from proprietors. Breakfast was very pleasant. road works make location slightly difficult to find on foot, need to follow signs carefully!
This hotel is a gem. It is situated in an unpromising suburb of Bilbao, but is a beautiful building. There are regular, cheap local trains to Bilbao, which is much better than taking your car into the city centre. The hotel is run by a couple with a young family and they coudn't do enough to help and make us feel welcome.
The proprietors made us feel very welcome and were most accomodating to us as we were traveling by bicycle.
The owners are very friendly people who will do anything to make you feel at home. They also know a lot off the history and culture from Bask Country. The hotel is beautiful and all the rooms have an amazing few over the beautiful Bask Country. The hotel is nearby the cities Bilbao (30 min.) and San Sebastian, but also nearby the beaches and the natural park Gorbeia. We had a great vacation and we will return for sure. Nothing, everything was very good.
Extraordinary scenery, mountain and forest scape, in the heart of the Basque Country. Close to every place to visit, Bilbao, San Sebastian... the coast. Gorbeia mountain is great: easy to climb after a good breakfast before leaving the hotel. Any case I recommend you to walk through the nearby Biscayan forests. Everything was perfect
Excellent brand new design countryside small hotel. Clean and comfortable room. Helpful personal attention. Splendid breakfasts.
The owners of this hotel are excellent hosts. You really feel like home and they treat you like royalty. We loved our stay and the beautiful scenery from the rooms. Also check-in and check-out are flawless.
The chap who owns this place has obviously been to Mal Maison hotels! We were expecting something quite rudimentary and basic inside - but it blew us away! Absolutely gorgeous rooms, furniture, fittings, wallpaper(yes, really!) and, if it were open - restaurant! An amazing hotel that seems to have been put in a quiet, one-horse town, by mistake. As with all the places we stayed during our trip: the lack of food during the day! If Spain could just be a little more flexible in this simple request, it would be an even better place than it is all ready.
Peace and quiet, relaxed atmosphere.
Location. Staff were very kind and friendly. Dinner menu was excellent!!! It had better to set a sign to turn right (in case of driving from Bilbao) at 32km point on N-240 road.
This was a delightful hotel in the Basque heartland. Very quiet in a great setting with proximity to the mountains and forrest. A good base for visiting Bilbao for the day. The hospitality and personal attention of the owner made our stay a memorable one. I give it 10/10.
We had a wonderful time there. The hotel is owned and operated by a family and we took comfort in knowing that they really love and care what they do and would endeavour to ensure all needs are met for their guests. The environment was serene and beautiful within stone's throw away from some of the most magnificient scenery. We were well looked after.
The hotel is in a delightful setting and quirky within itself. the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful Breakfast was not good, no cereal or Bacon and eggs, just sweet cakes and really dry toasted bread which was too dry before it was toasted! noisy plumbing and no sound deadening between rooms, when my neighbor was on the telephone I could hear every word.
The staff and the location near to the port. We could hear the man in the next room talking, the walls were thin and no sound proofing. But a good standard of room.
Friendly staff, great location and great value for money. Very authentic feel to the hotel
Poor soundproofing between rooms and small bathroom
Nice location,clean,pleasant staff, None
Tranquility Splendid main building contrasts with basic, but quite adequate, accomodation.
The setting and the tranquility of the hotel
Exellent location for our purposes. Very clean and modern. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
excellent helpful staff. menu in english / spanish / galicio excellent bath/wc facilities no bar area
The quietness of the area although there was a railway station nearby. Rather expensive. Poor breakfast for €4: 4 slices of bread!
We stayed at the Hotel Aldama one Friday night at the end of June. We arrived quite late went for a walk prior to eating dinner having first checked the menu outside the hotel to check that the daily menu was available as it had been recomended by a previous reviewer. We arrived back and sat down for dinner (we were the only people in the restaurant) only to be told that no menu was available! It being too late to go searching for another place to eat, we decided to eat a la carte. The meal turned out to well below the standard we expected in such an establishment (we had two completely different dishes (one meat & one fish which had exactly the same sauce). On returning to our room we found there was only one set of towels for too people.
The hotel was very clean. Could do with a place to relax and have a drink or read, meaning a seating area. They do serve coffee but only at meal times. The staff were extremely friendly. There are times when you don't want to go to town especially when the weather is bad. The train station opposite was a bit of a nuisance! I wouldn't want to stay more than a couple of days for these sort of reasons.
Very agreeable and helpful staff led by Rosi, first class dinner at reasonable price, well appointed room, easy parking - a good value place to stop if getting the ferry from Bilbao to UK next day or visiting the Basque mountains. Front rooms might get some noise from nearby railway.
Good access to Northern Pots of Spain No hairdryer in the bedroom
It was extremely clean and the staff were friendly The English tv consisted of mtv and eurosports which was disappointing and in the shop downstairs there were no English magazines to buy.
convenience to bilbao beginning to require facelift in rooms
Hotel was easy to find, staff were friendly and spoke english. The meals were tasty and not expensive.overall not excellent but good
Convenient from motorway enroute from southern Spain to Santander. Needed an overnight hotel facility and very easy to find,
Breakfast only seemed available at the bar and it was not clear what was included in the price quoted on the booking form, as thestaff spoke no English and our Spanish was not good enough to ind out the information (which was our fault), but it should be made clear what the breakfast consisted of, we though the restaurant would have been open for breakfast. The hotel is conveniently situated for the P & O Ferry terminal at Bilbao. I would prefer the restaurant to open earlier than 8pm.
Helpful staff and easy access to eating arrangements no
convenience to bilbao rooms need decorating
On the highway The booking was not registrated-I could have not find my booked room after a long trip, bad food, noise in the room because of poor insulation
The hotel was very nice, beautiful decorated and vey comfortable.
It's a beautiful historical building which was recently renovated, a former monastery. The environment is quiet and green. And it is very close to the center of Bilbao/ Guggenheim museum: max 20 minutes by car No complaints about this excellent hotel at all!
