Food was surprisingly good, the front desk staff was courteous and prompt, and the parking was convenient. The location is also fine, approximately 5 minutes off of I90. The bed was not working properly, which led to a very uncomfortable night's sleep. Maintenance staff was incredibly dismissive and rude. There are enough good hotel brands between I90 and Utica that You shouldn't bother with this one.
It was 'charming'--from the grand lobby to the chandeliers.... Terrible choice for a business traveler. Despite saying the hotel has wireless, it was not functional. The front desk told me that it was 'spotty.' When 'spotty' means that I don't have a wireless signal the entire time, that means there's no wireless.
Bed was very comfortable. It the bedding and curtains are dated, the tub and grout needed replacing as well as the shower head, it has an old tv that is very small in comparison to the large room.
Location, historic property Needs tv upgrades
within walking distance to the event that we were attending no comment
The architecture is interesting. Rooms are quite large. Location is convenient to Munson Art Museum (6 blocks, easy walk) Price was reasonable. The woman running the kitchen for all meals is an angel. Bartender is a very nice guy. This can be a 4-5 star hotel, but ownership will have to commit to making it such by investing in the furnishings, upgrading equipment, and adding/training staff. Large room with 2 double beds that have to be 50 years old.
THE OLD CHARACTER AND LOCATION THERE WAS NO HEAT IN THE HOTEL. THE 1ST ROOM THEY GAVE ME WAS ABSOULUTLY COLD. I WENT DOWN STAIRS AND REQUESTED ANOTHER ROOM ONLY TO FIND IT WAS JUST AS COLD. EVERYONE AT THE LOBBY BAR HAD COATS ON. DURING CHECK OUT THEY DID NOT EVEN OFFER AN APOLOGY.
The decor in room is a little dated but well maintained
This hotel has the elegance and grandeur of days past. The hotel was clean, rooms were spacious & windows are beautiful. Breakfast was fantastic for free continental. Beds very comfortable.
Bathroom was nice and bright and had nice mirrors. The main area could have more light. Could have nicer pillows. The vent in the bathroom had some mold on it.
Manager listened and acted upon my complaints. With the exception of what follows in the next category, all was cool. It seems the restaurant is contracted out to another company and this is resulting in a problem for the hotel. The bartender was horrible, and that includes being rude. She should be fired. The same for the woman who seats guests for breakfast.
Oh the amazing breakfast! & history about the hotel. Plus some rumors of the hotel being haunted. :) Not any
The welcome and registration were upbeat and helpful. Room well equipped.
Everything was clean looking and comfortable. Staff was friendly. However, I got several bad spider bites on my arms, neck and face that are now very itchy and swollen. Bed closer to window, room 220. I didn't tell the front desk in the morning, but thought I'd share after the review request email. Spider bites, itch and swollen
Room was very nice, clean and neat. Employee was very nice at check-in,fixing a mistake I had made with booking Breakfast leaves a lot to be desired, not much choice and very unimaginative. Could use more protein choices
Comfortable room, bottom floor. Heat was ON when we got in...thank you!!! Temperature outside= -5.... The room was clean, bathroom was clean, it was quiet all night.
On a cross country road trip with my kids. I booked around me and it ended up being an hour in the other direction. They would not move is to a closer hotel or refund. Very shady people hanging outside smoking and drinking. Called the front desks twice and no one did anything. The door lock would not work and the safety latch was broken off. The Ac was not blowing cold air and was very loud. The beds were unconfertalbe and the pillows where the smallest work out things ever. The tv only got 2 channels one was a local advertising and the other was not clear
