Pros: It was perfect! After spending a few days in busy Madrid, we were so happy to arrive at this hotel. The room was so BIG, spacious and we loved how they guided us through the old city with maps and recommendations of places to eat. We were so sad to stay only for one night. We were so in love with the big comfortable beds, the beautiful bathroom and how they treated us. We want to come back!!!

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Located on lovely square, spacious apartment, friendly staff, very central.
Cons: Our room (101) had only a couple of small windows looking out on the opposite wall and room a few feet away. Would ask for a room with a view of the square out the front next time. The underfloor cooling is not as efficient as air-con and requires a noisy de-humidifier to be running to work properly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I truly loved staying here and the staff were ever so helpful with everything. Everything was so easy! :)) I loved the view of the plaza and the location was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent studio room and fittings. Great staff and reception. Excellent breakfast and cheery morning staff.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location, cleanliness
Cons: Dirty iron
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is a fantastic property on Plaza de la Libertad, just off the Plaza Mayor. The rooms are large (for Europe) and include a small, fully-furnished kitchenette with mini-fridge, microwave, two-burner stove top, coffee-maker, and kitchen sink. I didn't really use the kitchenette beyond the fridge as I was only there for a few days, but it was nice to know it was there. The staff are also extremely friendly and helpful. The lady at the front desk really went above and beyond in letting me stay beyond the official check-out time when I was ill.
Cons: The breakfast room is incredibly small, and while the food is good and the woman working there very friendly and helpful, the way it's set up makes it impossible to enjoy. If you're there with more than 2 or 3 people it's very frustrating. And if there's a family with kids? Forget it -- you're better off getting breakfast elsewhere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect and the staff is wonderful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A precious gem in the center of the city. 2 minute walk to Plaza Mayor. A few more minutes to visit the university and the cathedral. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are small but highly efficient in space utilization. We stayed in a 4 person studio that has two bathrooms. Love the bund bed. Good food choices for breakfast. Don’t forget to visit the rooftop patio.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The reception staff were fantastic very helpful with offering restaurant recommendations. There is a lovely roof terrace which we enjoyed using. Thoroughly recommend staying here.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great apartment for our family of 4. Location couldn’t have been better: right in the center yet quiet. Everything super tidy. The hotel staff has been amazing: prior to our arrival in answering all our questions, during our stay with smart tips and recos and also after we‘ve left in sending forgotten Bermuda shorts home for us. I can only recommend this place!

Overview Reviews
Experience the magnificence of historic Salamanca at Hospes Palacio de San Esteban in the heart of the Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The hotel is housed in an immaculately restored convent built by Dominican Friars in the 16th century when the city was at the peak of its grandeur. Within its thick stone walls, sumptuous amenities offer a romantic oasis of tranquility mere steps from Salamanca’s most remarkable monuments. At Hospes Palacio de San Esteban, history infuses every nook. In the restaurant, El Monje, located in the convent’s original kitchen, you can dine on fresh local delicacies, like chorizo sausage made from acorn-fed ham, Then relax with a steam in the Turkish bath or sip cocktails on the terrace overlooking the Old City’s splendid cathedrals and the Dominican Garden. Fetching details accent the hotel’s 51 externally facing rooms, from the exposed dark-wood ceiling beams to lights emphasizing the golden warmth of the stone quarried from nearby Villamayor.

Pros: Breakfast was fantastic. Staff were super friendly and always willing to help. Free sweets and water during the day is a nice touch. The pool area and landscaped gardens are picturesque and peaceful. The heritage of the building gives so much character and the dining room reflects this, such a wonderful space. The rooms themselves are huge too, and well equipped. We had an end room with double aspect and views onto the cathedral. Epic! Oh, and the location is an easy walk to all you need to see in the area.

Grand Hotel Don Gregorio - Salamanca - Building
7
9.2 Excellent (617 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Grand Hotel Don Gregorio in Salamanca (Old Town), you'll be steps from San Esteban Convent and 3 minutes by foot from New Cathedral of Salamanca. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, a business center, and complimentary newspapers in the lobby. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
5.0 Okay
Cons: No out door terrace area available due to a wedding party - in this climate this should have been stated when the booking was made. Very poor value for money and 5 stars are certainly not justified.
7.5 Good
Pros: Really nice breakfast with a great selection of jamon, cheese, pastries and freshly squeezed orange juice. Very comfy beds, beautiful bathroom with molten brown toiletries. Wonderful sight outside (a convent) and strolling distance to the main square. Lovely glass of welcome prosecco on arrival.
Cons: When we asked about parking over the phone we were told a chauffeur would park it for us when we arrived, it wasn’t made clear that parking was 20 euros a day and when we asked whether there was free parking nearby instead the answer was ambiguous. We found free street parking round the corner for the 3 days. We asked about the garden as we couldn’t find it, which is shown on the website and were told ‘oh it’s on the first floor but it’s really small’ When we asked for advice on places to visit we were shown the main square on a map, that was it. The photos on the website makes the hotel look a lot bigger than it is, especially the foyer/lobby area. We were given a discount on breakfast at the start of the stay but this wasn’t noted anywhere so the bill was wrong at the end of our stay.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was comfortable, bed great! Breakfast was superb with fab selection! Loads of fresh fruit!! Beautiful hotel, decor stunning. Carlos on reception very welcoming and friendly...good English!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was right in the heart of Salamanca and such a small hotel and personal experience.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Exceptional hotel. As close as it gets to feeling at home while staying away in a hotel. All the interaction with the staff is to very high standard, and certainly have the personal touch and extremely duty of care towards the guests. Having stayed in hotels more times than one can actually count, this hotel stay tops the whole lot. Hotel staff arranged for birthday day celebration with an amazing cake.
Cons: Absolutely nothing.

The NH Collection Salamanca Palacio de Castellanos hotel, formerly known as NH Salamanca Palacio de Castellanos, is set in privileged location on the grounds of what was once a 16th-century palace and includes some of the original architecture. The hotel’s location is perfect for exploring Salamanca’s history, as the main square, cathedral, and famous Casa de las Conchas are within a short walk. There are shops, cafes, and restaurants nearby, while you will also be close to the Tormes River. For access to the surrounding area, the bus and train stations are within a 15-minute walk. 9.3 Excellent
Pros: As soon as we arrived the reception gave us a very warm welcome. After freshening up she advised us where to go, what to see and which restaurants were best to eat at. We loved every minute. Salamanca is just a stunning place to visit and has so much character
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is an excellent step up from other hotels in the area. We regularly used Eurostars Las Claras in Salamanca and wouldn't take anything away from that hotel. However, the Palacio de Castellanos is really very good indeed. The rooms are spacious, well-appointed and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and, on arrival, our car was valet-parked. The hotel is easily missed as you arrive, because Google Maps doesn't know where it is. However, when you pass the underground car park (nothing to do with the hotel) and then turn left down the one way street, the hotel is on your right with yellow zigzag lines marking temporary parking. Great location too - very near the main street and all its restaurants (incidentally, do try Delicatessen - yes it's named after that film).
Cons: Nothing - all was excellent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location and hotel

Pros: The whole experience.
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The castle!! It really is an amazing place. Much better still than on the already beautiful photos. It's a maze of beautiful authentically decorated rooms and tiny passages. I often heard myself saying things like "wow", "no way" or "look at this"! The surrounding area is rural and pretty. Gorgeous Salamanca is less than half an hour drive away. The restaurant food was very good. And the staff always showed great enthusiasm!
Cons: I actually feel reluctant to write anything here, because the minor flaws were completely blown away by the amazing atmosphere of the castle. But for those who are sensitive to any of the following: wifi reception was not very stable, the many birds on and around the castle create a bit of a mess here and there, the pool is not heated, many rooms are not easy to reach for people who have difficulties to move.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is fantastic
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful castle with outdoor swimming pool . Food excellent and really enjoyed our stay. Plenty of parking . Room was spacious , clean and full of character
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic building. Excellent service and food
Cons: Restaurant is in the basement without any windows. Would prefer outdoor/terrace serving in the nice weather.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It was wonderful to experience sleeping in a castle. The staff were great though spoke very little English. You can wander through many of the different reception rooms and even go up the tower and onto the roof! Rooms are large and nicely presented. Had both a separate shower and a bath so could choose! On site parking Breakfast was excellent and included in the price
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Absolutely stunning setting and buildings. The pools were wonderful on a 40 degree plus day Loved the welcome chilled wine as well
Cons: All great.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: - the location, and our room view across the pools, green lawn and river beyond. The whole place is so relaxing. - hospitable and most courteous staff - excellent dinners at the Hacienda Kitchen.
Cons: - our bathroom had a shower curtain whose length went well beyond the floor and was made of cotton/linen. It draped heavily once wet and our bathroom seemed to smell mouldy. - price of wine in reception office is MARKEDLY cheaper than the exact same wine in the restaurant? Be warned!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The history, the setting, the enthusiastic people, the organic drive, the wines, the rooms, it was all perfect.
Cons: The food was a little too salty for us and a garden salad (lettuce, onion and tomato) at €14 is a bit steep.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything !
Cons: Nothing!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very peaceful, excellent spa, fabulous food and wine.
Cons: The lighting in the bathroom was very subdued making it difficult to see to shave or put on makeup.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really amazing peaceful location with beautiful grounds. Great breakfast included in the room . The farm tour was the BEST!!! Jose is a great host!!! You will walk a mile into the farm and pet water buffalo and three varieties of pigs. Wear comfortable shoes. You will then have the most amazing balsamic vinegar ever! Followed by wine and cheese tasting of the products produced there. And a great, filling lunch. Well worth the 60 euro pp
Cons: The first night there were two weddings and at three am a group of people woke us up and were really loud for over a half hour. Still loved this place!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful location, beautiful grounds, very relaxing, tour to farm was great
7.0 Good
Pros: A lovely setting about 15 minutes outside Salamanca. We needed parking so booked this as a treat at the end of an EU road trip. The hotel is nicely done, if not a little pretentious. It is relaxed, as per the blurb. Good check in from Sam who gave us good advice about parking in Salamanca. Nice free wine tasting ( of the house wines) from one of the staff in the evening. Breakfast was good, as long as you only wanted continental.
Cons: This hotel isn't as good as it thinks it is. For a 5 star hotel the attention to detail is important. Here, for example, we had bird "poo" on the outside sunbeds..not cleaned while we were there for 3 days, or the outside table wiped. We were there for 3 nights..and the service was Ok for the first couple. But on Friday and Saturday there were weddings on site and service seemed to fall apart. We waited 30 minutes in the wine bar to be served ( eventually going to the bar myself) and in two hours managed to get two drinks. Annoying touches like having to pay for eggs at breakfast and 2EUROS if you use more than 3 coffee pods in your room...not worthy of a 5 start hotel charging over 300 Euros per night. I sense there's no management supervision and this leaves young staff to cope, often short staffed. ( Waiting staff were pleasant by the way). If you sit on the terrace in the evening be aware the river can be a bit pongy. Also, be aware that the description of the hotel ( and on booking.com confirmations you could easily believe you either have a hot tub in your room, or access to one. This isn't the case unless you pay for spa treatments. I think this is a wedding venue doubling up as a hotel during the week when it is quiet.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was beautiful and the room was large and clean. The king-size bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean, large and very nice - a lot of marble and glass and double sinks. The location was perfect - walking distance to everything (Plaza Mayor and all the sights) yet away from the hustle bustle. Was also walking distance to the train station. Parking at the hotel was very convenient. Lastly, there was a free computer available for guests in the lobby.
Cons: My brother-in-law was given a hard time about ordering just a coffee when he got up in the morning. He did not want to spend for the buffet breakfast since we were going out later.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel location was terrific. not on top of the noise but right near everything.
7.0 Good
Pros: This hotel is convenient for walking from the Renfe train station (about ten minutes by foot) and for exploring in Salamanca. It is right on the edge of the old town. We really appreciated the complimentary use of the computer for internet access. Very nicely appointed decor.
Cons: There were no English language tv channels!!!!! And this is categorized as a five star hotel!???? We understand that every language cannot be represented in a tv menu, but surely this hotel accomodates many international guests and should realize that English is a major language in the world.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Concierges were excellent; taking all problems from parking/stopping/dealing with luggage in very busy area for traffic. This is very important when, like us, we are driving in an unfamiliar and busy city.
Cons: Breakfast area and staff awareness could be improved, but not a major problem
7.2 Good
Pros: Very pleasant and helpful staff, lovely rooms with attractive decor and furnishings, excellent location, large well appointed bathroom, excellent breakfast would thoroughly recommend a stay here!
Cons: Although the car parking good it was rather expensive!
6.8 Good
Pros: Comfortable hotel with good food and in a goold position to centre of city.
Cons: Service at breakfast could be improved - on two days staff forgot to bring drinks (tea). On one morning had to be reminded twice.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: the friendlyness of the staff; you feel realy at home there
Cons:
7.2 Good
Pros:
Cons: The parking price - 15 € / day + taxes- is too high.

Pros: Good location near the beautiful main square.
6.8 Good
Pros: Beds clean & fresh
Cons: Not easy to get close to the hotel in a car .No parking facilities. The hotel recommended a car park which was a good drive away from the hotel. When i got there it was a one man operation with no spaces to park . Not a regulated car park and he wanted my keys . I was not happy with this. I hadnt experienced this on my previous stop overs in Salamanca. I eventually found a car park associated with the hospital.

Pros: Very luxurious place for a fair price. Room was beautiful, appointments were nice, and the bed comfortable. I would have prefered and actual large bed rather than two twins pushed side by side, but perhaps it's the type of room I had.
Cons: The sauna was out of order, and I didn't realize we needed to ask to use the hot tub :(
10.0 Excellent

7.5 Good
Pros: The staff, particularly on reception, were friendly and helpful and the hotel seemed well maintained. The room was very ordinary but clean, and it did have the bonus of controllable air conditioning. The bathroom was well equipped with all the usual toiletries The breakfast was extensive with a vey good choice of principally cold items but with a couple of hot dishes.
Cons: Although I was aware of the location, just outside the old city, of the hotel when booking, I did not realise that reaching the town with its many attractions, although within fairly short walking distance , involved a very steep climb. The breakfast room itself was very small which meant having to wait for tables to be cleared and an unforgivable sin as far as I am concerned - no FRESH orange in a 4* hotel in Spain !
7.5 Good

Pros: A very modern easy to find with very secure parking even though the cost is high for a motorcycle. great breakfast.
Cons: The cost of parking for a motorcycle.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We had a comfortable room with plenty of space and good AC (necessary in Salamanca in July). Front desk staff were friendly and helpful, it's not in the city centre (only a short walk to the main sights) but that made access by car much easier. The car parking was straightforward and secure.
Cons: There was some noise from adjoining rooms, particularly upstairs, from the tour groups who stay here. It calmed down at night and wasn't a problem for sleeping.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Seems to be a new hotel, good location in the quit street, not far from the centre, very very nice and friendly reception staff, room was nice and comfortable, cosy beds, enough spacious, big bathroom
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Hotel as pictured. Room 107 by elevator and overlooked street but was quiet. Great a/c. Nice bathroom and toiletries. Good value for room, breakfast, & parking. Easy 10 minute walk to Plaza but after food & drink it was 15 min walking back uphill! Staff friendly & helpful.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean. Comfortable beds. Large bathroom. Nice amenities. Friendly staff.
Cons: Maybe a bit farther away from the historic part of the town than what I expected. At walking distance, about 15 minutes, but that seem longer because a couple of blocks are up / down a hill. Nothing too bad, though.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: It’s close toeberytbing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location near Plaza Mayor. Definitely try the cafe Escoces at Cafe Novelty in PM (its coffee, whisky topped with ice cream!) and I dont like whisky. Good safe underground car parking nearby. Front desk staff friendly and helpful.
Cons: There is no tea available at breakfast!! Hotel difficult to find as its near major pedestrian area which satnavs want to take you through and the road is closed off to cars! It would be helpful if hotel could supply directions (other hotels have when situated in old town areas that are difficult to locate) stating that arrivals can wait temporarily at end of road to unload.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location. It’s very near plaza Mayor of Salamanca. Breakfast is very good
7.5 Good
Pros: Good staff, nice room, has air con, cute little balcony.
Cons: Is a pain to find it and park near the hotel then drive to the other car park but it is in a great location close to everything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The front desk staff were extremely helpful. They even searched and provided a name of a song that I heard in a restaurant. They went above and beyond to provide the best service. I am obtaining my Master’s degree, and had to take a test online. They printed out some of my work. I highly recommend this gracious hotel.

8.7 Excellent (1,146 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hosteria Sara in Salamanca (Old Town), you'll be within a 5-minute walk of Plaza Mayor and New Cathedral of Salamanca. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
7.0 Good
Pros: Good location. Had a bath which i used, lovely hot shower
Cons: Checking into the building was very difficult as the code for wifi was not sent with the virtual key ( as had been the case with our previous hotel), we could not get in as we had no wifi... this was annoying . Luckily we found a lady staying there who let us in and could contact the owner. The wifi code was only accesible once you got in, this is no good for people like me with no roaming Data.
7.0 Good
Pros: A big problem to get into H. Sara, and after a long journey ! We WOULD HAVE LIKED TO KNOW BEFOREHAND !!! that H. Sara is an unattended place. When we had found the rhytm, a nice and clean stay :-)
Cons: Information before and after booking
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The check in was efficient and the rooms were as advertised. The price is fair considering the location of the hotel and the size of the rooms and their amenities. The check-out is as simple as leaving the key in the room before you leave.
Cons: The automatic check-in proved to be a bit difficult since we had already paid through booking, but once we called the administration they fixed all doubts and problems in haste. We had a bit of a snag with the key to the room, which did not work, but administration quickly sent someone to help us fix it.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nearby every touristic spot, not so far from RENFE station. The scheme to open de doors and to checkin is really nice. Very comfortable, giant bed, very clean.
Cons: WiFi connection should work better from the front door, to help to open it.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Would recommended very good clean good location and friendly staff
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. In the real heart of the city.
Cons: The room looked a bit scruffy, not very clean. Double room with desk and one chair only , and one bedside table???
6.8 Good
Cons: The electronic checkin was ridiculous. Impossible to follow directions in Spanish. Phone call to office was outsourced to another country. Instructions had to be constantly repeated. I hated having to send my passport photo and information over the internet. I will NEVER do this again. A visit to the local office the next day yielded a disinterested employee with no concern for my requests or issues. In my three day stay I assisted four different people who were having difficulty checking in. If you do not travel with a smart phone, you will be in deep trouble at this hotel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice room, helpful staff. The location was perfect!
Cons: Self check in was very confusing. The couple before us also found it difficult. Thank goodness a staff person showed up to help.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We had a large room and bathroom, and even a refrigerator. The property has a lift which is convenient. It’s so close to everything, lots of places to eat and drink and shop nearby. Bathroom very clean.
Cons: Nothing really. Although there is a kitchenette there is no toaster or kettle. This didn’t worry us as we were happy to eat out.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Really central location
Cons: To gain entrance to the hotel for the first time you have to go through a long process of taking a photograph of yourself and also of your passport in order to receive a number that lets you in. All of this is easier with WiFi but almost impossible without !
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, nice appointments, simple. I only use the hotel to sleep in, not for the wow factor.
Cons: walls not sound proofed from room to room location. I can sleep through most noise, so this wasnt a problem, but someone who might be a light sleeper, might be disappointed.
7.3 Good
Pros: Simplicity, comfort, central location.
Cons: Cold water, but I think that was being mended
7.3 Good
Pros: the central location, a good price, quiet, due to time of year. good facilities in room, old building but rooms refurbished to a good standard. parkiing a problem!
Cons: no parking, had to park outside city and a 10 min walk to hostel.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Extremely friendly staff, immaculately clean room, and all in all a super comfortable hostal. Great bathroom as well with a nice big bath. Very central location in a magnificent city.
Cons: Street can get very noisy at night with bars and clubs nearby, but this is not the fault of the hostal, and this is a problem you will find at practically all accomodation in the centre of Salamanca. Just bring earplugs if this bothers you and you'll be fine!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Right in the center of the city and felt safe going back to hotel at night. Staff was very very friendly!
