A very warm welcome by the hospitable couple that runs the hotel. Very interested and interesting people. You are treated as a friend rather than as a mere customer. It's a pity our Portuguese is so basic. For the rest : nice, clean rooms and a beautiful location.
No English speaking staff. No daily room cleaning. Just a few tv channels.
The house is spectacular and the owners are extremely nice people, the decoration is very tasteful.
We loved the views from our 'suite', enjoyed swimming every day from the river beach just across the field, had an excellent breakfast each morning, received very helpful information on what to see and do in the area, were treated as personal friends by the owners, appreciated staying in a historic olive oil and flour mill built of the local schist. Meals locally were good and cheap and the people everywhere so friendly. Quite simply we had a wonderful time! Nothing!
After a day riding in the mountains getting lost we arrived late but were greeted with a friendly smiley face. Nothing was open in the town but Joaquim made sure we did not go to bed on an empty stomach! Our suite was beautiful and the building which is a converted mill was stunning. It was the most memorable place during the whole of our hotel.
It was a most pleasant - but all too short - stay. The staff were frienndly & welcoming. The room was immaculately clean and the food was truly excellent and overall, real value for money. Wi-Fi connection was a bit sketchy
Friendly reception, hospitality, beautiful environment, excellent restaurant and breakfast, very beautiful swimming pool
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Restaurant was fabulous. Beautiful area.
A very pleasant hotel near the centre of Manteigas. Close enough to walk, far enough fro tranquility. The atmosphere is real Swiss but befits the surrounding mountains.Nice rooms with balconies with a great view over the West side of the valley. Bathrooms are not too spacy and hotel staff could be more forthcoming and less stiff.
The hotel is situated in the beautiful valley. The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. Good place to spend a night if you travel across Portugal. I saw big ants in the flakes when had my breakfast.
Friendly, family run facility, good location close to beautiful hiking in the Serra do Estrella, great dinners and breakfasts in on-site restaurant with lovely view of town/mountains. Convenient to have internet access on-site. Hosts were very helpful with info about local hiking trails and places of interest. Lovely swimming pool!
Wonderful location, food was gorgeous in this family run hotel. Staff were very hospitable. Good value for money. Bed was firm.
Comfortable, clean, good value. The hotel restaurant was also very good.
Friendly & helpfull staff
Situated across from the town and in the foothills of beautiful mountains. Peaceful and quiet. Very friendly staff and excellent food. All at a very reasonable price. On site parking and free. No safe in the room, bathrooms need updating
Absolutely amazing!!! Great rooms, wonderful staff, excellent food, nice pool, sauna, relaxing area. No complaints at all. Its a remote location with fresh air and nature surroundings. Good for walks/hiking and especially good for relaxing. Highly recommended!
Beautiful location, serenity of the place, food, comfortable bed, services, kind & helpful hotel staff.
The friendliness and professionalism of employees is the best in the house. Excellent design and comfort. Flawless. Dificult access to people with limited mobility.
Quality of hotel and service
The house is superb and very well maintained. It is old, classic and very charismatic. The rooms as tidy and spacious, and the common areas, top notch. The included breakfast was also excellent.
The house and the service make you feel like you are spending some days at a rich relative's house. We will definitely return sometime.
The hotel is absolutely charming. You feel like during the visit at your grand-grandmother place, and she wasn't a poor lady. The house is full of antics and fantasticaly arranged shared rooms - with fire place, snooker, chess tables. Over the bed we had pieces of authentic altar. Marvelous and comfortable.
Beautiful rooms and building. Exclent value for money.
Service was perfect. Very friendly people making us feel as if we were at home. Thank you all!
The friendly owners, the breakfast (home made, with different and delicious things everyday, as fresh natural juices, cake and regional items), the overall house, very cozy, the pool (very clean and a very nice spot to relax). The wi-fi internet was recently added and was free. It's very near to Belmonte, a traditional little village and with excellent access to main roads and to Serra da Estrela itself. We enjoyed very much our 3 nights stay. Just the lack of air conditioning in some rooms.
It was a good base from which to explore Manteigas and the Serra de Estrela. The breakfasts were interesting though rather unpredictable as regards both timing and content
Very hospitable and welcoming. Great building and location. Good facilities. Pleasant atmosphere. What more can I say? Spoilt by poor food, terrible mattress and bundle of foam chippings for pillows.
