the staff were superb! They couldn't do enough for you and accommodated every request promptly, cheerfully, and to your total satisfaction. The view was also among the most spectacular we have ever had from a hotel room! No elevator, but that's quite common in European hotels that are not part of a chain. They carried our , and we miminzed trips back to our room. Not a problem.
The location in Etretat of the Dormy House is wonderful. Our room had an incredible ocean view. And the restaurant at Dormy also had a wonderful panoramic view. There was a short footpath which led directly to the beach. The individual rooms are quite dated and dusty. It doesn't have all the modern comforts of a newer hotel such as in-room internet access. And the design of the rooms and hotel was a bit antiquated - it simply looked outdated rather than Old World.
Quality of service is excellent. Restaurant and food is wonderful.
Surely the sightseen on the ocean , the good breakfast, and the park. Anyone at all.
We had a very comfortable stay in this lovely hotel with its fabulous views. The food was excellent if a little expensive.
Magnificent view (ask for seaside view) old plumbery probably, since water temperature changed in the shower (I particularly do not like that), price is rather high but the view compensates for this
Superb location, balcony room with superb panorama across the bay at Etretat. Pretty gardens, again with superb views. Fabulous room and bathroom and excellent food with good service. No.
Location Bedrooms need to be updated, Price of restaurant meal & slow service.
Warm & professional welcome by staff
Parking space was readily available. Hotel easy to find and extremely well situated. As a one night stop, it was acceptable and, with that caveat, I'd recommend it. The heated towel rail and electrical wall heater were both inoperative. Of the 6 ceiling lamps in the bathroom, only one was working. When I discovered this at 21.30 there were no staff to assist. The morning staff could not provide the Wifi password. Overall, I was unimpressed with the attention to detail of the room prior our arrival.
parkingwas good and closeness to town very steep access to bedrooms, we asked if we could move one floor down but staff not particularly accomadating even though it was not full.
pretty hotel, excellent position, comfortable room, friendly staff, nice breakfast, off street parking
Very friendly staff, room good value for money (suite), close to all amenities and sea/pebbled beach as village is very small. Ideal for passing through for a day as we did. No.
Charming, quaint and quiet. Close to the beach and centre. Good clean facilities, including parking Friendly and helpful staff
very comfortable large room , excellent central location
The jacuzzi was amazing and we enjoyed it very much. The room was very nicely equiped. The choice of the breakfast bufet was not very good.
location close to the sea
Hotel propre et pratique, personnel très serviable, excellent rapport qualité prix.
high quality hotel with lovely view out of windows, decor very good and feel of luxury not a lot to do in this location but for our one night stop over it was perfect
Plenty of space in the room. Good, opening windows with a pleasant view onto the harbour, with moored boats. It would be helpful to have tea/coffee making facilities in the room.
The quality of the room fittings and the space and the quality of the restaurant. It is preferable not have a glass and only partially opaque door to the bathroom. The WC could have been situated in the bathroom, with redesign, so that hand washing could be done immediately.
this is an excellent hotel true high quality french food everything was superb about this hotel very highly recomended.
Excellent friendly helpful staff and wonderful food in restaurant. Good size room, with all facilities and lovely view of marina. Comfortable bed. Free use of Internet.
View of Harbour. Efficiency of entrance, lift and Parking. Style of Restaurant. Cuisine - compared to similar hotels, looked better than it tasted.
Efficient. Pleasant restaurant. Nice town.
restaurant very good view from room good bathroom arrangements not good very smelly toilet seperate from bathroom withn no sink or ventilation so had to walk through bedroom to wash hands horrible, also bathroom had see through glass door which afforded no privacy at all,not proper shower, shower head half way up wall
Hotel is quite basic but rooms were very clean and comfortable, internet worked great, it was nice to be able to park right outside our room. We had two connecting rooms which were perfect for our family of five, good value. Location not great, close to a small town, but this was a stopover enroute to elsewhere so we didn't choose it for the location, only the proximity to the road we were travelling on - which it was very close to. Very easy to find. For the price we paid for two rooms we were very pleased with the hotel. It is basic but clean. It is definitely not a luxury hotel, but great for a stopover.
Quiet location. Breakfast ok It is quite a problem that the hotel's restaurant is closed on Sunday (and Saturday) evenings as it is quite imposible to find a place in the neighbourhood to have dinner on Sunday evenings
good value, not a very nice location, food fair and service good rather dreary location
The food was very good and reasonably priced.thechoice of wine was good and again it was a fair price Uncarpeted corridor noisy. room very basic bedside tables would have been an improvement
The staff were very helpful, good food & conveniantly situated for our trip
Quiet hotel. Staff very friendly. Can't think of any bad points to add about this hotel.
Friendly service. Good bed. No lift to the first floor.
The room was very clean, and the restaurant stayed open to a very reasonable hour, serving very good food. We took a long time to find it. Road numbers appear to have changed, and did not coincide with our current road atlas of France.
Very friendly staff. Nice surroundings - large garden and very quiet, although I could hear the people in surrounding rooms. Tiny bathroom. Toilet didn't flush properly and ran constantly, shower was dirty. They did send someone to fix the toilet and it worked once, and then stopped working again. Really, really uncomfortable bed.
very pleasant and welcoming staff. The area is very quiet and relaxing. we had difficulty finding a place to have dinner on a Sunday evening
The accommodation is self-contained and very comfortable. The views are wonderful and great to have access to a swimming pool and tennis court. Only problem was arriving after the reception had closed and taking a while to work out how to find the emergency number to get the keys.
Kindly reception, service (free internet wifi access) No
excellentes prestations. grand confort !
1. We arrived after the reception got closed, the key room was expecting us in the storage box outside of the hotel... but there was no key to the entrance... We had to wait for residents to open the door... 2. The bedroom on the upper floor had its window locked. It was hot, stuffy, pretty much like a gas chamber. The staff refused to accomodate. 3. The description says that the wi-fi is free. You will need to remind the staff of that, otherwise they would charge 5 euro per hour.
Great hotel concept! We had Cherlock Holms room - it was fantastic when we had to search for the bathroom. Nice friendly English staff, free wi-fi, central location close to main shopping and restaurant areas as well as the beach and parking place. Don't remember any.
The hotel was a nice surprise in the seaside town which wsa easy to get around. The only draw back was the parking and having to park it away from hotel and walk to get the car.The breakfast was not much to write home about either.
The hotel is very close to the cliffs. They serve a very nice breakfast.
Kind personnel, nice situation.
A great location in the middle of town and 2 minutes to the beach. The water at end of Sept. was great for swimming. You must wear foot protection to use the beach (stones) no elevator made moving the bags a chore. If you can win a parking spot in town, grab it. Daily cost is only 10 euro. They want 7 euro for a place up the road a piece.
We liked the location. We did not like the bed..it was very, very uncomfortable and very old! We are seasoned travellers, and have never had a bed that bad before. The hotel states wireless is available, but in the 3 days and nights we were there, it never worked! It also says in large block letters on the front of the hotel "English Spoken" not 1 single employee spoke a word of english...not single word. The way the hotel was when we were there last week, it is at best a 1 1/2 star, not a 2 star hotel. They need beds from the 21st century and working wireless to bring this to a 2 star hotel. One last thing, the hotel parking is 1 km away from the hotel! Truthfully, the walk to the parking is not that bad, but it is a little anoying in the rain.
location ideal, family atmosphere next time will try to book a room in Dormy house hotel
There is no parking facility at the hotel
Location is good, 1 minute from the beach.
The hotel is situated in an amazing old farm house with stunning views of the village of Fécamp and the cliffs and beach. It was a great middle point to make day trips either way up and down the coast. The breakfast was lovely. The place is extremely quiet and relaxing. The courtyard is peaceful. The rooms smelled damp - but this is to be expected from an old building near the ocean - the staff can only speak French with minimal english, which could be a problem for some guests.
The site, the garden, welcome and dinner - just perfect
The location was wonderful--on the top of a hill next to an interesting chapel, with a fantastic view of La Manche/The English Channel. We didn't see anyone when we arrived, but rather found our room key waiting for us next to a small map indicating the location of the room (we arrived around 7 PM). The room was unlocked. The room itself was two story, clean with basic furnishings. The location of the hotel is great; we had a nice view of the surrounding rolling hills and wonderful wooly lambs that were grazing. It was also very quiet! Good stopover between Giverny/Honfleur and Mont St. Michel. The nearby port of Yport is very cute and Etretat has a wonderful view of the Alabaster Cliffs. The bathroom was fine, but they really need to add a shower curtain and a rod to hold the shower head. This may have been the way things were done in France 25 years ago, but not anymore. It is a simple addition that would make a great deal of difference. Also, the room was very cold when we arrived and we didn't want to fiddle with the heating system, so we simply went to bed in our heavy sweat shirts and fleeces.
The dinner we had in the evening was superb and the service excellent Would like to have had a proper bar to relax in anot to have to use one end of the dining room.
Location and room design for a family of 4
Fantastic views of the coast line and town
Location No tea / coffee in rooms. Hotel in poor condidtion, badly needs up- dating Fixtures and fittings in room very old and worn out. Tv in room very bad Burn marks in bed covers Breakfast was very poor with a very small selection. Evening meals were of a good quality but it had a very limited menu of three main dishes that did not change all week. Dog that belonged to hotel was walking around dinning room and walking through the kitchen. Outdoor pool was dirty
The hotel location is truly amazing, with a beautiful view on the seaside I must have slept on the worse used mattresses for years; the stores hiding the velux on the roof were out of function, so that the kids were awake much too early in the morning.
We very much liked the environment and the atmosphere of the hotel. Located next to an old chapel. The hotel is situated around a square and has a fully enclosed, very nice inner garden. The location on top of the cliffs with its splendour views is also a recommandation.
unique and beautiful landscape the room is very humble
The central position of the Hotelwas helpful in arranging to visit the surrounding coastline without much trouble. The cost of the breakfast was very high given that only a minimal continental breakfast was provided. The limited Dinner menu was considerably reduced on two nights which left only an inadequate choice available. Parking is a major problem in the town and one which should be identified more clearly in the Hotel's publicity as all streets have parking meters and time restrictions.. As should the fact that throughtout the town there is no close free parking and it is impossible t parkt in the town for a full day as the parking restricitions allow a maximum of 5 hours. This makes visitors unable to go out at any time for longer than that.
very friendly welcome. Small nice romatical hotel with big taste of history.
Central location friendliness of staff resturant on site close to all ammienites a very nice to stay. No car parking on site or very near by.
Right in the centre of the town, close to the sea front and several restaurants. Unique style built in the 14th century, but room extremely small. Difficult access to hotel if travelling by car and although free parking was available, it was about 400 meters away. Breakfast was minimal standard continental.
The hotel is in a fascinating old building in the centre of Etretat. The room was very small, dominated by a fourposter bed which left little room to move around, but it was a comfortable bed. The bath was a jacuzzi. The main snag was that the loo was not in the bathroom but in a sort of vestibule area as you come into the room, separated by a door on a very strong spring which was very awkward at night. But it was a convenient stopover and Etretat has lots of restaurants and is a pretty town. See above, and breakfast was dull and not good value at €7.
The friendliness and welcome of the management. The originality of the renovated rooms, very central
Location, staff! Nothing bad, it's just an older building that will take some effort/cost to up date.
Hotel was well decorated with very special vintage concept and I loved it!!The owner was also very nice and kind to welcome my family. Just a pity we could stay only a night in Etretat. Strongly recommanded! No lift since it's old building, but the owner brought our baggage to 2nd floor and even changed the room because my baby.
Staff was friendly and spoke English. There was a warm family-atmosphere in this hotel. Breakfast seemed to be partly "homemade", which was nice! Modest, but personal atmosphere, good value for money. And splendid location, right in the middle of the town.
nice ok not é fancy fair varry small hotel but ok
Fun themes for the rooms with interesting details in each one.
Monsieur and Madame were both helpful and informative and the cosy bar with its books was delightful.
atmosphere mattress was uncomfortable-no spare pillows/blankets.no shaver point;lights above mirror in bathroom pathetic.Loo took 3 attempts to clear and at one time thought there might be an overflow!!
Etretat is very nice place and this hotel is located very well. It has unusual design, very good staff and the price is the best. No, I like everything.
- there is a mustard smell in CSI room and the lighting for double bed is quite dim, got 1 main red light n the rest of the lights are minimal.
Comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Easy access to town and coastline. Convenient for trips along the coast. Over full of "Nick-Nacks". Poor lighting in room and bathroom. In need of some refurbishment.
we loved this hotel. The views across Etretat are beautiful. We stayed in a very comfortable family room- the highlight was the jacuzzi behind a door, completely enclosed in a mini turret room. The kids loved the little cat Coco, who sits on a chair receiving hugs and kisses from all the children, just outside the Reception.
the food in the hotel restaurant was really good, along with location. it justs shouts that it needs renovation - everything (and the amenities in first place) are really old. almost no information in english, i am not even saying about russian. the staff in its majority speaks poor english. no internet connection in the room.
Proximity to town is wonderful. Staff is very nice. Rooms are nicely appointed. Bed was horrible. Two nights of poor sleep in a sagging old bed will ruin any stay.
on arrival told that the Restaurant would be closed the next evening.the public rooms were fairly cold
Location was very good as was the breakfast Dinner staff were unhelpful and rude. Left restaurant and eat elsewhere!
Through the wooden door, into the secret garden with new world hospitality in a beautiful old world setting. Narrow staircase to lovely attic room required care in ascending.
Pretty much everything was fine. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful; the room was big, light and airy; great coffee and freshsly pressed orange juice for breakfast; very central location, lovely garden... And the toiletries were skin-friendly well above average. Well, if you want a sea view there is none! But a lovely garden full of roses isn't too bad either...
the room was full of character and quiet. There was a nice view of the garden and clifftop chapel. The breakfast was delicious, and Jon the owner very friendly and helpful.Location in the center of the village, a stone's throw from the beach and many restaurants, was ideal.
The owner Jon Cooper is the perfect host. He is charming polite plus his knowledge of the local restaurants is spot on. Jardin Gorbeau is very clean and homely. The breakfast is superb Liked everything
The place is great; my wife loved the Garden and flowers. Great experience. Will definitely go back to this Hotel
Really good location; quiet; excellent furnishings; very helpful host.
Location, size, personal contact/service, very friendly staff, originality of the room decoration. Room did not get a daily check by houskeeping: emptiing the trashbin, verifying the towels/soap products would be an improvement. Entrance hall (outside) could be improved with some plants or decoration: the first impression when you get in the hotel is not optimal.
Excellent accomodation and the best breakfast we have had at any hotel. The room was delightful, very clean and spacious, modern and well equipped with a real personal touch and character. Very friendly host. It was difficult to find and although the breakfast was brilliant, seating around the table was cramped. The stairs in the old building are very steep and narrow and there is no lift. Therefore, pack your case accordingly i.e small overnight case and leave your main case downstairs.
Charming garden area and lovely breakfast in quaint 1800 renovated home. Some clutter that could be removed from living space but not annoying
Jon the owner goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and is great for local info about where to eat etc. The place is in a great location.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel, while as the room was small it was still very neat and tidy and had all the usual basics etc. The staff were very friendly, it is a small hotel and I doubt they get many English staying here because it isn't on the usual tourist trail. Most of the staff spoke quite good English and with our smaterings of french we got on fine ! On the downside it perhaps needs a new coat of paint outside and perhaps a kettle in the room would be helpful. Our dinner the first night was great, whoever their chef is he deserves a "well done"! While as this hotel is quite basic I would stil say "go", the staff more then make up for the bad paint job!! Could have fresh paint on the outside.?
I can surely recommend this hotel for everybody who looks for relaxing holiday. The sea view room we had was just perfect.
Proximity to chunnel was reason we chose this B@B!! Been before know area. Basic but comfortable, many eating places nearby.
We enjoyed the situation close to the sea and the nice restaurant.
Close proximity to the dock ie Dieppe, and also Le Harve, easy access to major towns and citys. lack of suitable parking for motorcycles
Vriendelijk personeel; mooi gelegen, fijn eten Smal bed
Comfortable room with lovely sea view. Restaurant very good. Friendly staff.
Location Bathroom shower small
The hotel is clean, staff very friendly. Sometimes during showering hot water disapears.
The hotel was really beautiful and clean. The location of the hotel is perfect: relatively close to beaches and most interesting places in Normandie.
it is a loveley place for a nice weekend away
The restaurant wine list was unacceptable - no wines were offered at an even sane price; shame that such an excellent facility should spoil itself in this important way.
the architecture no hot water + being waken by staff before check out. Would expect some form of concern from the Hotelier.
Its idillic setting and old world charm. The stair case! It was magnificant but a lift to the upper rooms, (even if it were a 'staff' lift) would have been much appreciated.
The location is great; so is the view of the hotel and the view of the grounds. Restaurant was NOT gourmet, hotel room was poor. Prices far too high. The hotel room was awful (small and run down).
If you want to stay in a Castle, this is a nice one. Pay the extra for a better room. We had the cheapest room (still quite expensive) in the attic. Very small room. Meals were also very expensive, so we did not eat there nor did we take the 14€ each for breakfast. Overprice meals. Rooms too small for the money.
The wonderful food and a great room
I loved everything!!! The food was great the staff was the best. I hope to go back one day soon!!!
A beautiful place, location very calm, ideal for relaxation
