The free breakfast was good. Of the three employees we encountered at the front desk the last one was really nice. She said she would try to get us some money back but because it was booked through kayak she probably wouldn't be able to. We ordered a non smoking room because we have a one year old and a 3 year old. The sign on the door said non smoking but the room smelt strongly of smoke. Even all the sheets smelt like smoke. We brought it to their attention and they gave us a fabreeze bottle.
The pool and breakfast were the only positive aspects. They gave me the wrong room apon check-in. When leaving they told me I needed to pay for my room because my card had been declined. I payed again for the room. After looking into it Priceline informed me that my first payment had been processed successfully. Priceline straightened it out but it may take up to 10 days to get the money back. I will never stay at a Hampton Inn ever again.
Hot water, toilet flushed, clean linens, heat, complimary breakfast all appreciated. Room was in need of renovation. Smoke detector was broke, no handicap rail in shower, carpet stained, door scratched, dirty walls, dirty baseboards, coffee maker missing glass pot, no conditioner for hair. Price expects more than we got for sure.
The staff was very friendly. Quick check in, room was clean, beds comfortable, nice room. Will be traveling through the same area in a few months and will stay here again.
Easy freeway access. Older motel. Needed to be fixed and painted.
It was a clean hotel with all the basics supplied and just fine for a single nights stay. Also had a very simple breakfast that was perfectly adequate but not very great ofva variety. The room was vaguely uncomfortable and the beds were hard. The breakfast while serviceable didn't have much options and about the only protein available was milk.
The staff was ferric - from the young man at the desk that told us where to find a good, reasonable meal at 10:00pm to the morning staff who were friendly and cheerful. The breakfast could have been better- different breads for example.
The breakfast was fine except the one man show (desk clerk and breakfast person) really made for sloppy experience! One egg left in tray, other side empty, only decaf.. Other coffee empty... One pot on bunn maker ready, so I put insides in and we had hot coffee. Muffins almost empty, toaster took very long time and bagel came out pale, I reheated twice. Oatmeal very runny and lukewarm, several people tried waffle maker, either they didn't know how to operate or it was malfunctioning. Desk clerk came and started making more coffee..as people were in line to check out, he had to stop and go to desk, trash can full. On the flip side, we stayed in a days inn in Las Cruces, NM and their attendant was wonderful, cheerful and made sure we had a great breakfast. Egg omlets and bacon!
noise from train
Room was dirty. Ice machine not functional.Sink leaking onto floor from pipes. Operators kids playing in the breakfast food.
Easy check in waffles and banana was good we ate by 6:30 all was ready little refrig and microwave was nice Light was a lttle lacking in main bedroom while getting ready
Clean room in a convenient location to I-10. Nothing fancy, but seemed better than other options in town.
Owner was difficult. Shower was old. Water stains in ceiling from leaks. Paint and wallpaper chipping. Stayed because I was much too tired to go look for something else.
The staff, location and cleanliness were excellent. The bed comfortable. WiFi worked very well. The channel choices for the TV were generous. Some would be put off by the proximity of the Union Pacific RR track. Didn't bother me.
Was great for a single night stay while conducting a tri state move, innkeeper was friendly, rate was cheap, and beds were very comfortable. Very safe with a good spot to put my rental truck. Van Horn is a dump, but the hotel was great! No real breakfast to speak of, but I was headed out as soon as I checked out anyway.
Staff was very nice! I checked in at 1:30 in the morning! There was someone there when I rang bell! They even knew who I was. I would definitely stay there again!
I can't think of anything, perhaps after I was asleep the bed was OK. Nasty dirty worn, poorly maintained, smelly, mold in bathroom, broken floor tiles, dirty stained chair. Carpet stained and filthy. Super * should not allow this property to use their name - damages their brand.
the staff were so frienly i`m gonna rank 3 star hotel
Accessibility No HANDICAPPED Rooms. But did receive downstairs room.
Very good help at desk. Places to eat convenient. Great access to Freeway. Nothing comes to mind.
Location Needs updating
It was clean and quiet. The cost was fine. Breakfast is a joke and general run down look of property.
good location, easy check in, room was big no one there for check out, no fitted sheet on the bed (what the heck?), loud noise from refridgerator and truckers outside, weird check in person working
nothing very disappointed rooms very old and not clean
I had what exactly was looking for, Hotel employee was great lady with a smile, would definitely stay there again if I'm stopping at Van Horn again!
Easy access from the interstate. Plenty of parking, even for pulling a trailer. No elevator.
The staff was really nice. My room was dirty (dirty towels and weird gross stuff all around the sink/faucet) and the walls were PAPER THIN. The facility honestly should be closed if it is under construction. I will never stay at a Red Roof again.
Breakfast bar had no juice no water or ice
THE PRICE NO LICHT, NO HEAT, NO FOOD, NO NOTHING.
Nicely renovated rooms- best choice for pet friendly hotel in the area. Very satisfied for the amount we paid for the room. Breakfast was just ok.
The bed was good. There was linoleum? instead of carpeting, which made it easier with the walker. The breakfast was mediocre....no yogurt or hard boiled eggs, and the waffle did not taste good. We were supposed to be in a handicapped room, but there was not a bar next to the toilet to help me up. The toilet was also quite low. Because of the curved shower curtain, the door would not open all the way, and it was very difficult to get my walker into the room. The king-size bed was very close to the heating/cooling unit, and when we put the fan on, it made for uncomfortable blasts.
There was "free wifi" that didn't work. The floors are made of laminate instead of any carpet so we heard everything above us. From the people walking around to everytime they dropped the dice on the floor for their craps game that they were screaming about until 3am!! I stopped through on my drive to South Texas and would have been better off continuing the drive! The entire experience just made me more tired!!
Low cost Overpowering scented spray used in the room.
was inexpensive room was clean and tidy no coffee maker or coffee available for the room no breakfast but I knew that ahead not many restaurants in Van Horn for breakfast
Owner is very friendly. Room is clean. Hotel is too close to the train tracks, and trains run at night, making it hard to fall asleep, or remain asleep.
Quiet, clean place to stay.
You get what you pay for. I chose this place for the reviews. Next time I will choose the number of stars.
It had a bed. The inn is located DIRECTLY next to an active railroad! Good luck getting sleep!
Simple clean and inexpensive room that served our needs for the night. No key card just an old fashioned key to the room. It had a refrigerator and a microwave. Also a flat screen tv on the wall. No bathtub, just a shower.
Basics covered. Bed and bathroom were adequate for the short visit.
Owner was very nice and the room and linens were crisp and clean. Bathroom and decor was obviously very old but was in good repair and clean. Beds were comfortable and the hotel had WiFi and Cable TV. Can't beat it for the price. Nothing to not like. Hotel is old but well kept with great staff.
It was ok, very old but renovated, bathroom was very clean. Sheets spotless, bedspread very old. Furniture old but flatscreen tv. Simpl and perfect for the low price. I often stay in $---- night hotels in Russia, Dubai etc, and though old, it was fi
Clean, as described. Communication with front desk person was a little difficult. His English was poor.
Price and location. There is obvious evidence that owners are trying to upgrade. No outlets in bathroom. Worn fixtures and furnishings....
