I stayed at the Coast Coal Harbour in downtown Vancouver in mid December about two weeks before Christmas. Decided to head north for the holiday and go see Christmas lights somewhere cold (Butchart Gardens in Victoria was AMAZING, by the way). Vancouver was definitely in full swing for the holidays, but the city is pretty quiet and the crowds have dwindled by this time of year. Everything was fantastic. It's freezing, but I'm pretty sure the bedding was nice and warm, because I remember sleeping like a baby. The room was a decent size with good amenities, the bathroom was huge, and everything is "green" - recycling; economy sized bottles of shampoo, lotion, etc.; not unnecessarily washing towels that aren't really dirty... I'm from Los Angeles, so I hate to see water waste. You won't find any at this hotel :) Everything is walking distance - It's centrally located, about at 12 minute walk to the train that takes you to and from the airport, and only a block or two from the water. It rained (duh), so we took taxis a few times (at present, Uber doesn't operate in Van city), but if you have a hood and an umbrella, you shouldn't worry. The city is built for wet weather, and everything went along smoothly. The best part of the hotel was the staff. Can't remember the name of the guy at the front desk (Louis? Luis? I may have made that up.), but he had spot on recommendations for food and attractions. He recommended a great brunch spot called Medina and a fun Christmas Market (German style) with a photobooth, cider, mulled wine, and a lot of hand-made crafts. I had a great time in Vancouver and would definitely stay here again. Two very excited thumbs up! Note: We also took the Westcoast Sightseeing bus to Victoria. They pick up and drop off directly at the hotel, which is really great if you're planning on taking any side trips to Victoria.
I haven't got one, single complaint. I guess the views from some rooms aren't as great as others, but why gripe about the view when you can go out into the city and actually experience it.
The location is great, the way the staff treats you and the overall quality.
For the price we paid I would have expected a bigger room. Then I would have loved to have open view to the north harbour but a building was blocking partially our view, a little bummer although my wife loved it.
Perfectly located near the convention center with a knowledgable and kind staff. The room is excellent. The facilities are modern and clean. Would definitely stay again and will be recommending to others.
Loved the modern décor and style of the hotel.
Baggage taken separately instead of in same elevator, and baggage gentlemen was very pushy as well as the valet attendant. Park elsewhere nearby for much cheaper.
The staff was friendly and courteous. Check in/out was smooth. The room clean and nice. The gym and pool had everything you would need for a long weekend. The location was perfect for walking to restaurants, parks, and the waterfront. We will return.
The front desk was extremely helpful in getting us settled and helping us get a reservation at a fantastic but very popular restaurant nearby. And when we arrived at the restaurant the hotel sent a small hors d'oeuvre plate to us as a gift. Very classy. All the hotel service people were friendly and professional. We loved our corner bedroom with a view of downtown Vancouver. The windows went from floor to ceiling and the light was beautiful even though snow was falling. Beds were comfortable too. We booked on Kayak and the price was very reasonable for a city hotel near the waterfront. I would definitely go back.
The Lobby was designed as a contemporary open space but it felt too big and vacant. Its interior design could be freshened.
Very modern and great location and facilities.
No bad points at all. Would highly recommend staying at this hotel.
Everything in the room was so clean. Room was spacious. Toiletries and bath products were very good. Location was perfect; very short walk to the seawall and convention center/Canada Place. Cafes, restaurants, breakfast spots are all around. Very close to a drug store and nice grocery store (Urban Fare). Area is very safe. Walking at night was fine. Staff very helpful.
cleaninness of the room, kindness of the staff, position
It was close to my conference. It was very clean. The bed was comfortable. There were no bedbugs. There was a coffeemaker.
The room was noisy from the elevator, poorly lit, very spartan and minimalist. The parking was very expensive and valet-only even though on the back of the valet ticket it said that my car might be parked on the street. Very costly for possible on-street parking!
The fact that the hotel is brand-new.
There isn't a specific concierge - only the reception staff.
excelent staff workers
Staff very friendly - couldn't have done more to help us. Also gym facilities excellent
Parking was expensive and we ended up parking in a hotel car park next door as their rates were slightly cheaper
Welcoming reception/however my room key card did not work & security took me back up to my room and let me in - they delivered a key card that did work/ The restaurant was very good however it was difficult to pay our bill, it took long and then the machine was broken (visa &/or Debit) My bed was very comfortable
Sorry - see above....
very helpful staff, and great service. The rooms are decent size and the price is quite good for what you get!
