Pros: Excellent location to walk into town for bars and restaurants, there is also a brasserie located downstairs too. Our rooms spacious and well equiped, breakfast good. Would recommend.
Cons: Enjoyed our stay - there is parking but you need to reserve, parking on meter outside though is easy, if you can work out the parking machines.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I had a lovely stay in this hotel. The lady allowed me to check out late which was very nice of her.My room was massive and I had a bath and a shower. The hotel is very intimate and close to the center of Brive. She recommended a nice restaurant for me to eat in. This is my second time here and I will definitely come back again.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was excellent .
Cons: The breakfast wasn't as good as the previous year
9.5 Excellent
Pros: When we arrived outside the door, we were quite concerned, as it doesn’t look like a hotel, having only a small door along side the restaurant. However, once we had parked the car in their secure garage and gone up in the lift to reception, what a pleasant surprise! Lovely rooms and bathrooms, superb breakfast, very good restaurant and a friendly owner who spent time showing us around and explaining how she had turned this old factory and workshop into a unique small hotel. This hotel is in the centre of Brive-la Gaillarde, and as value for money, must rank well inside our top ten in the world!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Even though we had chosen the cheapest room, a room with no windows, we were really surprised and pleased to find a very well fitted, light (due to a light tunnel) and stylish room. This hotel was so interesting, comfortable and welcoming and we would highly recommend it to anyone.
7.0 Good
Pros: Garage parking very good, close to town centre which was great. bed was ok, was allowed to use kitchen for evening meal, as it was raining a lot outside at the time.
Cons: Staff smoking inside. room had windows, other had light tubes, but in ours windows looked inwards so if you opened curtains people in smoking area could see in, I don;t smoke and that put me off a lot also pool area our bedroom window looked in to a plunge pool area but that means people could look in bit of a goldfish effect. ok for a one night stay.
8.8 Excellent

The room(s) - we had the top floor consisting of 2 bedrooms, 1 en-suite bath & shower and 1 en-suite shower, with separate (dedicated) toilet - were perfectly adequate, nicely decorated and comfortable. The hosts were very accommodating and the continental breakfast continental was nice (croissants, jams, bread, juice, yoghurt).
Cons: No air conditioning - it was particularly hot!

Swimming pool was a bonus - much appreciated after a long hot drive Local food recommendations were excellent and the host did a wonderful job (using Google translate) to provide us with information about the area and places to see on our ongoing journey. 8.3 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place ..a must see .. real Historic Chateaux and beautifully kept.
Cons: But be ready to carry you luggage up a spiral stone staircase ....fabulous ..but a bit hard going for older bones !
6.8 Good
Pros: Second visit to the Chateau. Prior 3 years ago. New female owner lovely and very welcoming. Breakfast good although included in room cost on the previous visit. Room tidy and a good sleep.
Cons: Male owner not so welcoming, said hello but otherwise not wanting to engage in conversation. The opposite of his lovely wife. The once beautiful gardens are run down and in need of maintenance. The male owner needs to put some gardening clothes on and start trimming hedges. The chateau is beautiful but has lost the special feeling that brought us back for a second visit.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a wonderful experience from start to finish.Your hostess Cecile, whose family have occupied this wonderful house for generations, was gracious and friendly, and, she went the extra mile to sate the hunger of 4 travellers, whose night of arrival sadly coincided with the closure of the restaurant over the road. We two couples shared the Rose suite which was beautifully furnished with large and comfortable beds. What a splendid sleep we all had. Our tasty and creatively prepared breakfast was served on a marvellous terrace by a lovely member of staff who added to the ambiance of a memorable all too brief one night stay. By the way if you don't enjoy the views across the lake from the garden then I guess there is no pleasing you.
Cons: Now this is a tough one!! We have thought long and hard and the only thing we can think of is maybe availability of some sort of tee/coffee making facility in the bedroom might be nice, but maybe your hosts would not want to take the risk of the room furniture being stained or damaged so in all honesty were happy to go without!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cecile (owner) and Elodie could not have been nicer and more welcoming. It is still a family home although vast and we were welcomed like family. Very tastefully modernised and not spoiled.
Cons: Nothing
6.3 Good
Pros: Conveniently located near to Brive set in tranquil location overlooking a lake. Beautiful garden area to relax. Delightful hosts who were very obliging.
Cons: 85 steps of a steep spiral staircase to get to our bedroom ‘Orchidee’. You need to be fit and active as it is a long climb and difficult with luggage. This needs to be made clear as some less able people would really struggle. Weather was hot and room quite stuffy but a fan was provided which made it more bearable. Servicing of the room was not automatically carried out, in fact after two days without a service, we had to ask to get clean towels and bins empty etc. This was done on day 3 but only one lot of toiletries provided for the 4 day stay so make sure to bring your own shampoo and soap. Paying in cash only is an inconvenience and potentially a security issue as the room does not have a secure box or safe. Whilst a unique experience to stay in such an old castle, from our perspective it was not what we were expecting for the price and based on the reviews made of the property.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff. Beautiful castle. Beautiful setting. Excellent breakfast. Clean rooms. Modern day bathroom. Impossible to be The Ritz because it’s a castle. Great value.

Pros: Beautiful old château with all the mod cons. Plenty of room with lovely decor. Massive kitchen, dining and salon. Terrasse outside with beautiful views of the lake. Lovely hosts. Got to see wild boars!
Cons: Nothing really
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is an amazing chateau; beautifully furnished and in a delightful area close to the lake. Made very welcome and breakfasts on the terrace were very memorable. The latitude and longitude on booking.com is not accurate - but if you get to village you can't miss the chateau opposite the restaurant. Lovely and cool inside in hot weather.
Cons: You have to climb a minimum of 50 steps to get to your room. It's well worth it - but bear it in mind!

7.0 Good
Pros: I liked the garden and being waken up by the sound of birds in the morning
Cons: The room was very smal (there was barely room enough to put your lugagge) ; it was a bit humid and cold at the beginning as the owner swiched the heating on only when we arrived. There was no proper door between the room and the bathroom, just a courtain. Most people don't appreciate this lack of privacy.
7.5 Good
Pros: Clean & modern facilities.
Cons: Wi-fi was poor.
6.3 Good
Pros: The rooms where clean and tidy nice location
Cons: Difficult parking as on slope, Could not figure out how to use the shower and the owners did not speak any English and we spoke very little French. No milk
7.5 Good
Pros: The property is in a lovely spot and it was great to be able to sit out and eat our meals, breakfast here is not included.
Cons: The room was rather small considering that a kitchenette was part of it. Was surprised that the toilet was only separated from the room by a curtain.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: We came in the dark and it would be very nice if the signing was a bit better on the house adress.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Clean & comfortable.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I liked everything about this wonderful property. It is situated just outside central Brive giving a good view of the town.It is well designed making efficient use of every bit of space and it is beautifully appointed. The owner was incredibly helpful even offering to taxi us into Brive. It is better than a five star hotel suite.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice self contained unit with cooking facilities, oven, microwave, fridge. Lovely hot shower, toilet and sink area. Doors onto patio area with table and chairs and a lovely view down to the town below. The view was even better at night overlooking the twinkling lights. For an extra 5€ each we were given breakfast which was a choice of tea, coffee or hot chocolate, warm baguette, croissants , jam and orange juice.
Cons: There was a bit of a damp / musty smell in the room. Steep downhill walk to the town, which means a very steep walk back. We got a taxi back for 15€ so it wasn’t an issue!
7.0 Good
Pros: Great view from terrace
Cons: Parking quite difficult but new area is in progress
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was fabulous, views over the town, so quiet M Counord was so helpful from telling us where the laundrette was to where the best place was to canoe! Very friendly

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best feature of the Moulin is the host! HE was brilliant and so accommodating and nobody does eggs better! But beyond this, our stay was more than excellent, with rooms that were both well designed, tastefully decorated and comfortable (with vintage furniture and decoration). Getting to it, you have to cross the industrial outskirts of the town, but then you get to small country roads and the Moulin is on just one of those. The river behind is beautiful and the building is also exceptional.

Pros: Just opposite the railway station and a comfortable walk from the town. Effective air-conditionning. Kettle. Pleasant staff. Good breakfast. Dinner service a little too quick between courses for comfort though food good and reasobaly priced. If you ignore the modern lift and take the stairs the old staircase with its ancient lift shaft is splendid though looking a little neglected.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Large comfortable clean room, lovely staff and a very good meal.
Cons: The room through the night was very hot despite the air conditioning being up high. Also, after dinner we tried to find a quiet place to sit but couldn't. The sitting are was occupied by a couple of chaps watching football.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old building (with new and modern interiors) picturesquely located on a street corner at the top of the hill, next to the historic train station. Windows are well isolating the room from the occasional faint train noises, which apart from the crickets is the only sound you hear at night anyway. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Very clean room, comfortable bed, good breakfast. If I come again to Brive, this is where I’ll stay.

Pros: The best think about this lovely hotel is Andrea the hostess. Really warm, cares for her guests, helpful and extremely nice. The room was comfortable and breakfast very nice. We came with a car, and Andrea arranged for us a parking place, which was a great help.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Andrea is the perfect host. She's very friendly, taking extra care to make guests comfortable and always up for a chat. Her dog Leo is as friendly as her and it goes out for walk with clients too. Room was very clean and well decorated giving a homey feeling. Being at the back of the hotel was also very quiet. Breakfast is excellent. We couldn't take advantage of the garden as we went in winter. Customers can also quietly work in the lounge so it's a good choice for all type of travelers. 5/10 walk form the town centre. Paid parking on the street of the hotel. Very good value for money. We'll def come back because "ici on est heureux" (here, we are happy) thank to Andrea.

Pros: Did not eat breakfast, so no opinion. The location was ideal for us: near Gare Brive and car rental agency.
Cons: The check-in process was unsettling and unprofessional. Check-out process was also unsettling and unprofessional. The woman did not believe that we had paid for the room in advance even though we had the invoice to confirm payment.

5.8 Okay
Cons: I was very disappointed to have to pay an extra €50 to enable us to actually stay in the Chateau. When we booked we thought that's where our room was and that a garden room merely meant a room overlooking the garden. Additionally we found €12 pricey for our morning cup of tea. It would have been nice to have the facility to make a cup of tea in our room and I feel this should have have been included in the room price.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: everything was fine, but:
Cons: no air conditioning...I know we americans are spoiled that way!

Cons: The food & drinks although lovely we’re overpriced.
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: After hours of driving towards Bordeaux we just wanted to relax and get dinner în a nice place. We Booked a room and, for our surprize , we can not eat at our hotel because they said we don t have a place. În Booking website it is not menționed that even we are staing at the hotel we need to rezerve a table. So, now because it was no restaurant around the area, we end up going to sleep without eating, în a room with one towell for two persons:)). When we talked to the Lady manager, she said she doesn t care about Booking and she was no helpfull at all. At least she could have offered us something to eat! Very inapropriete abordation towards the clients

Pros: Wonderful hotel, great food, amazing views, one of my favorite places to stay. Top of my list
Cons: Nothing, an o
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It is a beautiful Chateau in a wonderful location - we stayed in an annexe and not in the main hotel - the rooms in the annexe are a little small - I imagine the rooms actually in the chateau are much better . But the dinner was superb and the dining room wonderful The standard of the cooking was outstanding - and produced with such ease and professionalism. This style cannot be found in the UK A very worthwhile experience
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The lady on reception was so welcoming, the swimming pool is just perfect, the Castle is just amazing.
Cons: A taster menu at the restaurant would be a good idea, the restaurant is in the upper price bracket however the food was out of this world. Tea and coffee facilities in the room would be nice.
6.8 Good
Pros: Dinner and the location were lovely. It's a very old fashioned French chateau hotel.
Cons: We were put in a gloomy dark room for drinks before dinner & left so long that in the end we walked into the restaurant to find out our table. They didn't offer a Fench menu even though the entire meal was conducted in French.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. After a disappointing stay in Normandy for 4 nights we arrived at this hotel with a welcome from Chris and Naomi as if we were family. They booked us in and showed us to our room which was 1st class far better after our previous experience in Normandy. The room we could see had been decorated and furnished with love, it was the little things that made the difference. We were given a room with a balcony and were told that the windows could be opened for air due to the heatwave but also they brought a fan to the room to assist. The room was immaculate even to the dolce gusto machine, box of tissues and a magazine in the magazine rack. Cleanliness was also top of the list. Lots of little extras. Wonderful. We ate there for our evening meal for ease but were certainly not disappointed. Chris explained that the menu is limited but changed each week but all homemade and cooked fresh. Credit to Naomi it was delicious. We didn’t take breakfast as we left early but both hosts were there to see us off. If we return to the area we will not hesitate to stay again and would highly recommend these two young people for their excellent service and gorgeous relaxing hotel. Thank you both. George & Eileen.xx

Pros: Very nice owner. Great room. Great breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Boutique styling is superb and so well done, the staff helpful, quiet setting although in a residential area just above the town but easy access means getting to a restaurant is straight forward.
Cons: Would be nice to have a restaurant in the hotel as we were only passing through to Provence but there are great restaurants to choose from such as la Toupine. No milk in the room for tea.(:
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The buikding; the para; the food; the frieniness.
Cons: The WC in the room was extremely small.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We eventually found the property after our Satnav had sent us the wrong direction! We received a warm welcome on arrival. The room was large and very comfortable. We were informed that we could not eat at the hotel but later had a telephone call in our room to say we could. We really enjoyed our meal and the staff were attentive and friendly.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: the XVIIth century building, modern, nice material, comfortable, nice people, good breakfast. nature around, quiet.
Cons: restaurant is partly pre made catering food (to be tried though). need a car not much around walking distance.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice relaxed terrace Meal / dietary requirements no problem
Cons: Our (maisonette) room got very warm on top which is where the bed was; airco didn’t reach it
6.3 Good
Pros: Building and location were great
Cons: There was no door between the bathroom and the bedroom and no separate toilet... On top of that there was a plumbing issue and it smelled like poop in the entire room. When we entered the smell was covered by perfume but it lingered
7.5 Good
Pros: Very clean and comfortable rooms. The staff is very helpful
Cons: Odd location in the middle of a quiet neighborhood. Nothing to do around the hotel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We had booked a superior double room, which was not up to our standard. They were very helpful however and offered us a Deluxe room for Euro 30 more, which we took. Even though there was no dining room, we had a nice board of various charcuterie in the garden, which was very pleasant.
Cons: The size of the bathroom, even though with walk-in shower, was very small and in our view not a 'deluxe bathroom". What we find ridiculous, however is the fact that we were charged an additional Euro 10.00 for changing from double to twin beds.
