Walking distance of the town centre, castle and facilities of Domfront. Reasonable price.
the best part was checking out! the staff at the hotel were very unfriendly and offered no welcome or even local information about the town of domfront. the hotel was in dire need of a face lift, the rooms were pretty poor and our room was constantly swarming with flies, the toilet was appalling, there was a rubber contraption in the toilet bowl onto which any waste fell before being sucked through it in the fashion of an aeroplane toilet it was anything but hygienic and perhaps this accounted for the constant swarm of flies in the room!. i had booked four nights at this hotel but after the first night i checked out and continued my trip around normandy staying in the lovely logis hotel vert in mont st.michel before moving to the very impressive ibis hotel in caen centre.
The welcome was good. The food was excellently presented and prepared by the chef. Good cleanliness throughout the hotel. Clean linen. Service in the restaurant when from the patron was excellent. The gardens were lovely and well kept. The breakfast was enjoyable despite the patron remonstrating with staff in public whilst we were eating. Room 8 was very basic one star maybe and very drab. bathroom lighting no switch at the door. One bedhead light was arcing and dangerous to use ( fire risk ). Window paint was peeling. The rooms were in need of a revamp and redecorating. Faded glory and seen better days would seem an appropriate comment.
Handy stopoff if travelling through Normandy, in pleasant location and good value for money. Very good grill restaurant for dinner. The very strange electric toilet in one of the rooms. Scary.
Grill menu was excellent. Gardens great. Staff very helpful. Traditional vintage down to earth French hotel. Room too small for twin beds. Bathroom had mould on walls. Both bed and toilet need update and redecoration. Furniture basic.
Covenient location to town
Simple, clean hotel - ideal for short stay as a base.
Basic but perfectly adequate. ~Good location for town next to main square. We had no trouble changing our room to one with a bath as requested. No drink making facilities in the room but we took our own so it was no problem. Television hard to work but that's not what you go on holiday for!
We were the only guests at this hotel, and though we were led to beleive the hotel would be accessible from 11.00, we found it was closed until 17.00. The room facilities were poor and did not include tea or coffee making facilities. The restaurant was closed and there was no provision to eat at the hotel. The reception did not know of anywhere local that was open so we could eat. Thank goodness for a local baker. We cut short our stay as it was indicated that the provision would not improve. All in all, we were extremely disappointed, to the point that if I knew where thae nearest Campanile was we would have gone there and cancelled our room.
Easy to find. Restaurant and bar in building, with reasonable quality food. Good size light airy bedroom. Decent shower. Private parking on site. Views across the river. They could do with sun blinds in the bar/breakfast room. Uncomfortably hot in there during beakfast.
close to city we were not there long, and unfortunatley we arrived on a day the restaurant was closed
The hotel was in a good location with cafés and restaurants close by. The WiFi connection was very poor - even standing next to it didn't work (there were a lot of networks all using the same channel). The restaurant was always closed. The TV used to turn itself off at random.
It was very close to the town of Domfront and is situated in an attractive building with lovely gardens. Very convenient and plentiful parking.
The location was excellent and off street parking a useful bonus. Staff were friendly. My room was noisy. I could hear evey movement from the room above both footsteps and plumbing. The hotel had a slightly run down air. The restaurant was closed and the garden looked neglected. With a bit of care it could have been lovely.
