Pros: Great location, clean rooms, strong AC, shower pressure was very good, and the room is quiet considering the noise outside the hotel.
Cons: The wifi was spotty and slow.
Pros: Excellent hotel. Recently renovated. Conveniently located in centre of city. Great staff. Warm and friendly. Hop off and on bus tour close by.
Pros: This was one of my favorite hotel stays in my life. I was traveling with my husband. We really enjoyed the ocean view (We also saw what the city view would be, and I'm sure it would be nice). The location was excellent, right on the water but also a very short walk into old town. The staff was the nicest and most helpful in Spain, especially the concierge, who gave great recommendations for everything we wanted to do.
Cons: Location, staff, view, concierge.
Located on central Madrid's main artery, the Gran Via, opposite Plaza Callao, this historical building reflects early 20th-century eclectic style with ornate stucco work topped by a French cupola.
Design hotel decorated by Toms Ala. Located in the heart of Madrid, near the Opera Square. 200 meters from the Royal Palace and the historic Madrid of the Austrias. 5 minute walk from Puerta del Sol. Daily mediterranean buffet breakfast is served until 12:00. Free Internet WiFi connection.
Cons: We reserved a room with breakfast thru 'get a room' and surprised to see that it was not a buffet breakfast!!! for getting the buffet breakfast we needed to add some more money....
Not all the recommendations of the concierges were good, sometimes it seemed like they recommended places that they had personal interests/connections in.
Pros: Old world charm and location. Great lobby and dining rooms
Cons: Room furnishings and hall carpets need refreshing
Pros: Staff was delightfully enthusiastic. Setting was beautiful!
Pros: The beds were amazingly comfortable, the housekeepers were not only very amusing but extraordinarily nice. The hotel was insanely clean and had a very comfortable feel to it, as if a lot of fancy people had been through it over the years. The location is good, but not great, for accessing most of the touristy stuff in Madrid. But I found the Prado (directly beside the Ritz) to be horrifically overcrowded compared to some of the other museums like Sofia Reina just down the street.
Note: Not really easy to access via metro, I'd recommend taking a taxi to/from.
Cons: Take the following review with a grain of salt. I am a young person who grew up poor and wanted, for once, the "Ritz" experience:
While I am a big fan of trying new things, I have to say that the Ritz experience just wasn't for me. I don't mean to be crass, but if I had a fistful of fives - I can think of a few places I'd rather spend it than tipping the endless stream of people trying to help me with things.
Additionally, there is a little doll that you place on your door if you do not wish to be disturbed. Note: Don't leave the doll up for very long, because if you do, they will call your room until you answer so that they can ask when the next time they can come in your room is. I nap maybe... 2-3 times per year at most, and I am severely irritated that they felt the need to call during my biannual nap to ask me when they can come in my room. Instead of changing my sheets 3X per day, how about leaving me the hell alone when I have my DO NOT DISTURB DOLL up?
Perhaps I am not cut out for the lifestyle, but I don't want/need people treating me like a helpless child, yet simultaneously making me feel "lower" than they are. Every time I offered a "no thanks, I don't need a taxi, I'm walking" or walked into the hotel from the street, I received these weird looks of incredulity/disdain that I didn't particularly care for. When I brought my own luggage downstairs on checkout I absolutely horrified the front desk attendant.
Why the need to treat people like this? I have no idea. My recommendation? Take the $500 per night you'd spend here for the standard room and split it in half. Take $250 / night to spend on some other hotel's suite. Take the other $250 and stick it back in your pocket.
Built by King Alfonso XIII in 1910, this grandiose Madrid hotel is located opposite the Prado Museum and steps from the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, the Bourse stock exchange, and Retiro Park.
Pros: Unique feel. Very cool property. Staff was EXCELLENT!!!!
Cons: The pool was advertised, but not told until arrival that it was tiny, needed reservations to sit by it, and that there was a charge to use it even as a guest in the hotel.
This trendy design hotel holds an extroverted character. An excelent location in the heart of Chueca district. 100 meters from the Gran Va Surrounded by shops, restaurants and bars. 10 minutes to the Thyssen and Prado museums. Daily mediterranean buffet breakfast is served until 12:00. Free Internet WiFi connection.
Pros: Modern hotel in the heart of Madrid. Friendly staff. Walking distance to everything. Great breakfast buffet.
Pros: Steps from mercado San Miguel, plaza mayor, night life, Puerta del Sol, museums, the location could not have been better! The staff was extremely friendly, the breakfast had a great variety, and for the cost could not be beat! The shower was awesome, remodeled! We will be returning there at the end of our trip because we enjoyed the hotel and location so much!
Cons: Rooms were small
Pros: location was very centric
Cons: they advertise that they have parking and they do not. Staff was friendly but did not go above and beyond compared to other hotels during this trip.
Pros: The staff at the hotel is fantastic. The location is wonderful and everything was very clean
Cons: The room is very small but when your out it doesn't matter
Pros: The hotel was very clean we had a huge balcony with a great view. The location is amazing it is located in the center of Madrid . There is a delicious market located directly across from the hotel . The staff was extremely helpful . If I come back to Madrid I would definitely stay here again !!!

Pros: The common area has air con. It's a nice area to hang out and chill before you go back to your bedroom. Some staff is friendly.
Cons: There is no air conditioner in all the rooms. If you don't like to sweat during the night, don't choose this hostel in the summer. It's very hot/stuffy and uncomfortable.
Pros: the location
Pros: You are in the heart of Madrid! Welcome! It is just great beeing that close to the Gran Via which is basically the soul of Madrid. The rooms were for that price more than adequate and included a great TV!
Cons: There is no 24/7 reception but you get a key.
Pros: It was right in the city center and close to a lot of the main sites.
Cons: The side street it sits on is full of prostitutes all day and night. If you want to stay there, just be ready for that.
Pros: The staff was friendly, spoke english, and the hostal was secure with fingerprint entry for the door.
Pros: Excellent staff and service. Tidy & clean room. Great location near Puerto del Sol.
Cons: Lots of street noise at night time
Cons: The room stank of cigarette smoke
Pros: I could not believe how clean it was .Excellant!
Cons: The Approach gives the impression of a dissued place and I found it difficult to find it Should be a larger notice outside in the street.
Pros: Very clean room, good location, even the shared bathroom is also very nice. The hostal is taken good care of.
Cons: The plastic under the sheet is a bit uncomfortable. It's noisy at night, but it's inevitable because of the location.
Pros: Location was good. Price was good.
Cons: They do not speak English. Their location is a little seedy if that bother you. The walls are thin, if you´re a light sleeper it may be a problem.
Pros: The hotel staff were friendly and the hotel was placed in the center of Madrid. Te rooms were tidy and cleaned daily.
Cons: The hotel staf didn't know English and this was a bit difficult as were able to communicate easily. We booked a non-smoking room and we got a smoking room instead. The air-conditioning devices were not taken care of and the circulated air smelled not so nice. Near by the hotel, on the same street there were prostitutes and I don't think it's appropriate for the prestige of the hotel.

Pros: The location was excellent. It's right next to the opera which gives you a landmark to find it easily. I don't speak Spanish well so that was very helpful. The staff is Was able to book all my tours and was able to help me with all my questions .
Cons: My room had two twin beds. It really is too small for two people. They should make it just a single. I ended up using the other bed is a desk. Also it was a little dusty but overall clean. I also asked them to refill the refrigerator but they forgot to which in the end worked out. There's a supermarket right across the street. I was able to buy water and juice there and stored in the refrigerator. I thought they had a gym. But actually it's in their sister hotel around the corner which isn't too far since it's a short walk over, but the machines were not that great.
