The welcome from the staff was wonderful. None
Very nice breakfast buffet, if a little pricey. Helpful staff. Easy check-in and check-out. I'm sensitive to perfumes and their cleaning chemicals were a little heavy in that area - but I think this wouldn't bother most people.
Where to start. Spotlessly clean, very well appointed, central to all the goodies that the region has to offer. The best cuisine for miles at affordable prices, pleasently served and in good ambiance. I would recommend to all and sundry, although the restaurant is not for a young family. Watch out for your hosts, they are a captivating couple, with simlpe English, but a joy to be with and the type you instantly warm to. Sitting right on the river, just outside of Lalinde the location is perfect for easy access to Sarlat, Perigord and Berjerac with all the medival hamlets, towns and villages, the most spectacular caves, landscapes and scenery, chateaus and castles, or just enjoy the finest cuisine you could hope for. Not a long enough stay.
This hotel came up to our expectations. It was clean and I think had recently been refurbished. no pool
Very good room with balcony and view over River Dordogne and hotel in a very peaceful location. Only one menu which we thought was overpriced, so not ideal for our stay of 5 nights. Relatively isolated location meant that a journey was required for variety.
Family run by an absolutely charming couple. They made our stay a delight. The food is excellent too. The village has few amenities. There is nowhere else on foot to eat or drink. Not a problem for a short stay as eating in is a must!
Côte Rivage is the most romantic hotel I have ever visited. It is situated on the Dordogne riverside in a charming small village. The hotel is elegantly decorated and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Our room had a balcony with a beautiful view of the river. The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially the nice lady at the reception. She even gave us a little present when we were leaving. In the evening we had a nice meal at the restaurant, and breakfast was also good.
Convenient location with a fully operating shower and kettle Poor air conditioning unit, compact rooms, no lift and poor value for money in the restaurant in the evening. On leaving the hotel and retrieving the cases from the floor of the room, the cases were covered in dust !!!
our room No 37 had a fan running on the roof ,which kept us awake most of the night
its allways good to stay at a place you know in adwance what you will get for your money. staff was wery helpful getting an electric heater
We had a lovely stay! All the staff made us feel very welcome and special. We would also like to mention the chef - Jon Luc - the food was delicious!!!! We always stay at the Campanile chain as we travel through France and as far as the staff is concerned this is one of the best!!!! Congratulations.
Handy and convenient
The reception was fast ,friendly and efficient. The parking on-site was important. The breakfasts were adequate. There is incredibly little nearby of great interset to holidaymakers;it's a 20-25 walk to the characterful old town. The value was reasonable.British visitors expect to be able to make a cup of tea in their room and that is very common in British hotels but absent here.We had to bring a kettle,milk,teabags,sugar,spoon,etc.. Please see above comments
Location, clean hotel
very good position - close to old town - you can reach the city centre on foot in a few minutes. car park available free of charge . nice room , clean and quite big. no problem if you come back late at night. car park quite small , one night we had to leave the car outside
Generous sized room. Brand new and very modern shower/WC. Quite (as advertised). Continental breakfast buffet included a more varied choice than I have seen before.
It was all very simple and the breakfast was good. THe local brochure about events in the region was out of date - July 2010. Up to date information would be helpful.
well located (5-10 mins walk from down town) - free parking for guest - free wireless internet - very friendly staff & owner - breakfast is good value for money (7 euros) far better than usual 12-16 euros buffet. - quiet place for a cental hotel location. No doubt that we'll go there again next time we have to pass by Périgueux
This hotel is in perigueux on the edge of the dordogne France, there are lots of local restaurants in perigueux. The receptionist did not talk English and our French is very basic, but this was not a problem.
Position - quick walk into Perigrueux Parking Breakfast was very easy
Modern hotel, friendly reception. Room very good, with excellent bathroom. 2 basins. Plenty of storage space. Good parking at front of hotel.
the value and the welcome
Most staff spoke some English. Lovely terrace and pool. Good breakfast. We stayed in a luxury room in the castle bit (which was very small for a castle) and although the bathroom was large there was no shower - just a bath with hose attachment but nowhere to attach it to the wall. Room had very high ceilings which made it a bit cold looking - not very cosy. The waiting staff were almost too attentive - felt like they were watching you all the time. The gourmet food was not to my liking - black olive sorbet and pigeon legs just didn't do it for me. The bread and butter was very nice though.....
Great looking place, pool and tennis open to Orangerie residents. None.
Nice & quiet location, staff were very friendly, setting was lovely. Although the food was very, very good, it was expensive in comparison to the room rates.
firendly and relaxed
The outdoor pool was excellent and the Châteaux was a very interesting and looked very dramatic. The position was good, near to Perigueux town centre The room (no. 6) was a budget room and lacked facilities, there were no 'Chateaux' features in the room. The carpets were dirty, wallpaper was hanging off, there was no fixed shower, there was no tea/coffee making facilities and the breakfast was a poor buffet .
Helpful reception staff Nice room 12pm Check out! no tea or coffee making facilities (but that's expected in France!)
Beautiful chateau and grounds. Toilet seat in our room needs replaced badly. Reservation was quoted at 85 Euros, but they charged 98 Euros. Continental breakfast on their flyer in the room was supposed to be 8 Euros and they charged 14 Euros each. We never noticed until after the checkout.
ambience, decor and food made for a memorable stay
At the end of our holliday our stay was was a surprise for my wife the perfect French experience and a lovely memory to take home with us We were treated so well by the staff in the resteraunt and made to feel very special thank you everything was perfect
the staff were very helpful Advertised was the use of the internet and I had to go behind the reception to use it as there was none available anywhere. Also we were told that breakfast had finished and we had to ask before recieving any, it was only 8:30.
The staff were super helpful and friendly, and the restaurant was wonderful. Nothing
The grounds and location of this property are very beautiful. It is a good location to explore the Perigord area. The resteraunt and bistro serve very good food.
Although our room was small it had all the elements and opened on to the lovely garden. We liked the understated luxurious French country house atmosphere - the gourmet restaurant with good wine list and excellent service - the restaurant has only one Michelin star - a gross oversight in our opinion - a second is certainly deserved especially for the tasting menu with wine. The friendly and helpfull staff and general attention to detail in a professional but relaxed way. Although not a budget option no visit to the Dordogne would be complete without at least one night here! We are already planning our next visit! We wouldn't change a thing!
The food was wonderful. The staff were very helpful. The hotel and gardens were delightful.
Excellent staff, excellent food, beautiful gardens and rooms
The staff at Le Vieux Logis was incredible! They were SO customer service oriented and met our every need. The little town of Tremolat was very charming. There was nothing we did not like.
We liked everything about the hotel: brilliant friendly staff; lovely food and wine [we had the menu gastronomique]; excellent room; most attractive setting, lovely grounds in an interesting village.
the servis was excellent the room we stayed in would benefit from a bit more illumination inside
I loved everything. The service, friendliness, food, rooms, comfort, pool were all great
The atmosphere, the gardens, the relationship between the inside (room, lounge) and the outside (garden and courtyard).
the location is very good, the staff friendly and helpful, we did not like the standard of comfort this is not 3star quality. the rooms are basic decor poor in need of refurbishment, menu lacks imagination
We were made extremely welcome in this very family orientated hotel.
The staff was excellent, from the reception to the restaurant servers to the lounge/bar attendants and housekeeping. They could not have been more helpful and accommodating. The location on the river is fabulous, and the proximity to restaurants, the marché en plein air, the boulangeries and the delights of the Vézère Valley are exceptional. Definitely request a room overlooking the river. The roof top terrasse was spectacular at sunset. The rooms could use some updating, but everything was clean and in working order. All non-smoking rooms would be an advantage. If you're not used to traveling outside the US, you may not be as pleased with this hotel as we were.
Its location is quite good. The village is nice, but specially due to its surroundings: the river, the villages of the region,... The personal was nice and the swimmingpool is great. We ate in its restaurant, and the meal was good. The worst thing is our case was the bed: they should be urgently changed. It is an old-fashion hotel, but somehow charming at the sametime...
Very pleasant, helpful staff who had a cheerful attitude with customers and each other. Very well located
Friendly staff, and the view from the room was fantastic. The rooms were nice, and spacious.
Position in the city and surrounding area (lot of sites to visit by car: caves, castles etc)
The staff couldn't of been anymore friendly or helpfull ! The rooms are big and spacious and the view was beautiful (we booked a river view room) Although the rooms are big and spacious it was far too warm, there isn't any airconditioning and it's a must in France in August!!!!
location superb Standard of service only adequate, certain areas grubby and badly in need of refurbishment. O.K. for a one night stop-over which is a shame as Le Bugue is an ideal base for visiting the area and the hotel could be a wonderful attraction
Very peacefull and quiet location Room No 30 requires a make over in the bathroom , desk in bedtoom area needs replacing , all in all the hotel was clean & tidy but needs to be refurbished.
The food was good for breakfast. It was good for a quick over night stay. Dinner was hard to come by and a short drive or 10 minute walk to macdonalds. Or even further to the local town. If you are travelling for business or need a budget stay this is a good hotel.
The breakfast room was pleasant, light and well presented. The room was smaller than we expected and the bathroom was even smaller. The sound proofing was not adequate as we could hear other quests.
good better breakfast
It was nice, and quite, even though it was on the outskirts of the city.
Value for money
While located in a shopping and industrial zone the place is very quiet at night. In room shower is at the bare minimum but clean. Breakfast is simple but ok.
Freindly staff, surprisingly good breakfast for a budget hotel No hot drinks out of hours or tea making facilities. Reception only open certain times - no automatic check-in.
Staff were friendly and ready to help whenever there was a need. The rooms was too hot. Perhaps if they could put hair conditioning or fan in rooms.
Very clean No bedside lights....no wordrobe
The service given by the staff was excellent. The selection at breakfast was very good. No comments.
A perfect stop-off point. Clean and modern, free wi-fi was a big plus for us. Good private off-street parking.
Excellent service, very good location, very good value for money, rooms are comfortable, modern and clean. We recommend it warmly
choice of restaurants nearby. secure parking. not having tea / coffee facilities in the room.
location, comfort, and nice staff price of petit dejeuner
We liked the fact that the hotel was central and that parking was available at a very reasonable cost immediately opposite the hotel. We arrived early and were immediately allocated a room. Nothing
good value, comfortable and lovely view of city
It was clean and the staff we kind and helpful.
Nice modern clean room The room in Tour in france was too hot and we couldnt open the window very far. When we did it was incredibly noisy. The girl on reception was sharp, abrupt and I didn't like her tone when I asked to see the room first. She treated me as if I was a nuisance..
Good breakfast, helpful staff. Relatively easy to find. Location in a sketchy neighbourhood - did not feel comfortable going out after dark. No parking in an area with very limited over-night parking options. Elevator had no sensors on doors and was very aggressive - I had bruises all on my arm from trying to keep it from slamming shut on my friend.
Closeness to railway station First room shawed had been used by a smoker despite smoking ban
Staff were very helpful, room was clean and comfortable. The hallways were in a terrible state, I hope they were in the middle of renovating..?
one staff member in particular was extremely friendly and helpful in helping us arrange certain matters
the shower was exellant in the room trying to leave was an issue, the credit card machine was not working and the reception clerk was useless ,had to runup the road at 7am for cash to pay the bill, nearlylate for flight
good organisation : when arriving late, my key was at my dispostion en I could go to my room immediately. Very professionnal
I accommodates a young family. Quiet and clean. No complaints
The hotel is right at the station so very convenient if travelling by train, although a 15-20 minute walk to the main town. The room was a decent size and comfortable. The hotel offers free wifi. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bathroom was a little squashed (the toilet is a bit close to the shower cubilcle) and there is nowhere to hang a towel. The hotel is not manned at night. It seems the hallways are in the middle of being decorated, this may be why the rate was discounted at the time of my stay, it didn't really affect the experience but was a bit messy and smelly on the walk to the rooms.
The stqff Was lovely and very helpful. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was fantastic. I couldn't get the tv or phone to work properly and the room smelled very strongly of perfume, probably to cover other bad odors.
very good buffet breakfast, well worth the extra money. The hallways on all floors seem to be currently undergoing major wiring, plastering and plumbing works which was a bit off-putting at first as we were not made aware of this. Our rooms, however, were fine.
The ambience, the attentiveness of the owners, the setting and the unspoilt nature of the business.
the Chateau was refurbished to a very high standard and the furnishings were beautiful. The owners were lovely people. The food was from the local region and a very high quality. Because the owners cared so much about their furnishings, they would not allow drinks in rooms, breakfast in the room, irons and many other standard things that make a stay more comfortable. To that extent, they did not deliver great customer service. I went to recuperate after an operation but no effort was made to make it easy to relax.
Charming, idyllic setting - perfect for relaxation. Both the adult and children's pools were very clean. Very quiet at night and well worth paying a little extra for the large terrace overlooking the lake. The €20 dinner is superb (I had an excellent crevettes, canard and creme brulee to die for at this price), opting for a lakeside table rather than the well-appointed dining room. French customers have left similarly good comments about the food on French websites. Will definitely return - already planning the next visit. I would have liked the lake to be floodlit at night, to appreciate the scene from the terrace.
Room clean and tidy, dinner was excellent and overall hotel was v good value. Parts of hotel are clearly well worn.
easy book in with friendly staff, simple yet sufficient for one night sop over purpose
Breakfast was spartan. Having AC was great. Limited nearby eateries.
cheap and chearfull, but everything you need for a stop over Rooms very compact, directions were not very good hard to find in the dark.
Clean and efficient In a remote area of an industrial estate. Nothing open late during the week.
Clean and cheap Air conditioning was pathetic
Good value at these rates for an overnight stop Room very cramped even in comparasion with other premier hotels I have stayed in.
Staff were extremely friendly and the rooms were very clean. The hotel was warm.
Very friendly, excellent food, excellent value. Highly recommended.
good value, good location
Charming, well-located small hotel with an excellent restaurant. Christophe will make you special dinners for the regular cost. He also speaks English very well and is anxious to help. Hotel is very close to aquarium and other attractions for kids.
Nice family-run hotel. We particularly enjoyed the mannerly dog next door at dinner every evening. No lift. Our room on the top floor was a long climb with heavy suitcases.
Excellent restaurant/food No lift (acsender)
Freindly and helpful staff. English speaking manager. Very good location, both locally and for trweling in the area. Food in the restaurant was a culinary achievement. A recommended choice for staying a few days in the Dordogne area.
Hotel staff were always so eager to please would have liked the star rating to have appeared on the website
The location of the Hotel and friendliness of the staff. Not really
excellent staff and service
La Métairie is a charming hotel in a lovely setting. We enjoyed the small, intimate feeling and welcoming hospitality. The food was fantastic. I booked a twin room and in booking sought assurances that there were indeed two beds in the room. However when we arrived we were given a double room and told that as they were full there was nothing that could be done about it. It was disappointing and out of keeping with the rest of our stay that there was little by way of apology or offer of discount.
The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and very efficient. Lovely pool and grounds but no real view.
Fantastic relaxing hotel, Immaculate service>
Upon arrival we were greeted by the charming receptionist who directed us to our room. The first impression was lasting. The staff, particularly Florence were enchanting and made our stay of 7 nights memorable.
