We were upgraded to a superior room
Reasonably good location about 1km from Epernay. Very good quality and sized accommodation for a European hotel. The credit card we provided to booking.com as guarantee was debited for accommoation cost by the hotel at the time of booking. This is practice counter to any other hotel that we have booked online or otherwise, usual practice is for payment to be made at the end of the stay. This caused us extra currency exchange expense as the card we provided to booking.com as guarantee was not the one we use for payments. We consider this practice unacceptable and probably illegal as we had authorised booking.com to debit the card in the case of default, the hotel had no authority to debit the card. Also, most European hotels we have booked online include breakfast in their tariff. This was not the case with La Villa Eugene who charged EUR17 extra p
This Hotel is exceptional value for money and is a prime position. Not one thing
lovely rooms that are large and comfortable. beautiful restoration and breakfast room. at far end of the avenue so bit further to walk than expected but not impossible
great location and parking, clean rooms, helpful staff. Good breakfast except coffee tasted like it had been warmed for several hours beds too firm for my taste, room temperature quite warm even when heat is turned down/off. Had to leave window open, traffic noise. when staying in the front rooms of the hotel
extremely friendly and helpful staff, and all the champagne!
The room was very large and beautifully decorated. The breakfast room was also delightful and the breakfast was delicious. It was a shame to have an indoor pool that was not heated.
The Front Desk staff was exceptionally well versed and helpful. Help schedule tours, gave great advice reagrding places to go and eat. Very Professsional.
Location, Pool and Spa Food very expensive!
FRiendly reception and waiter at breakfast; lovely pool;good wine waiter Dinner was a disaster - not child friendly and no children's menu - although Reception still think they have one. Ambience was over formal
It is beautiful centre of the Champagne region, but however the price is like the Champagne bottle... but we had a great time!
This was a wonderfull hotel, staff very welcoming, helpfull and attentive. The room was beautiful, the restaurant superb, the lounge relaxing and the gardens delightfull. We look forward to returning soon.
Beautiful accomodation in a great setting & great location. The staff were very helpful. The room was a little small, so value for money is questionable. The restaurant, while very good, is a little overpriced for what you get, compared to other similar establishments.
Staff were friendly, helpful, and very well trained. They were attentive without being intrusive. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent, though I did feel that breakfast provided a very limited choice.
Everything. The staff were friendly and efficient, the facilities lovely, the restaurant excellent. I wouldn't hesistate to recommend La Briqueterie, and would certainly stay there again.
excellent hotel, superb staff but very expensive especially the restaurant, but well worth the trip
Evening meal was superb and service was very good. Breakfast also first rate. Had to move rooms because first room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke (despite requesting a non smoking room). No-one on reception when we wanted to check out. Garage was out of action but reception did not appear to know. ( We had requested a space when booking)
Too expensive for the qualitiy delivered especially in the restaurant ...
The village location; the architecture; the grounds; the peace and quiet Staff were a bit distant, we were reprimanded for taking an apple from a tree which seemed rather rude of them, and unnecessary given the price we paid for our room; hotel could have provided information about shops etc in the locality; breakfast was a bit limited
My absolute favourite hotel. The restaurant is the most amazing experience! Leaving!!!
The recently decorated (built?) rooms, the entourage of the castle, the view and the service.
The hotel restaurant in the Orangerie is top class! The Chateau itself a haven of relaxed atmosphere, fantastic rooms and all in a very beautiful setting. The breakfast was not of the same quality as the rest of the experience.
sooo romantic , built 1700 excellent dining!!! no
we enjoyed the peace and quite in beautiful surroundings. The food in the restaurant was excellent. no safe or television in the room
This was our second stay and as before it was a pleasure. This time we where in a classic chateau room which was really lovely. Food and wine excellent, haute cuisine without being too fussy 20 euros for the dog was a bit excessive but that is the only negative comment we would make
The chateau was beautiful and the staff very helpful. Our room was a little small and furnished in a shabby chic style but this was reflected in the price we paid,if we had been staying longer than 1 night I would have paid for a bigger room.We ate in the Chateau restaurant which was expensive but well worth it.Unfortunately, we were only passing through as I would have liked to stay longer.Overall a splendid stay. No other restaurants in the village so for a longer stay you would need to travel some distance if you wished to eat out.Drinks were expensive.
It's a real 16th century chateau, complete with a moat, in the heart of the Champagne producing area. The staff are very helpful and their recommendations for dinner in a small town nearby was one of the best meals I've ever had (at Le Cheneil Blanc)
Staying in a castle with moat and beautiful surroundings. Found the 35 euro meal just as good (or even better) than the 50 euro meal. However both were excellent!
Very generous accommodation for the price. Clean, quiet and very modern. There is no map available or directions; not on Sat Nav because development not yet completed. Had to go to Tourist Info office in Eperney and ask. Strangely there is no stand-up shower facility in an otherwise modern bathroom!
Resonable price for a night on route to holiday. Clean with comfortable beds and nice dinning area. The kitchen did not have any equipment! We had to buy plastic untensilks at the supermarket and make a picnic! A kettle and some kitchen equipment would have greatly improved our stay.
The receptionist on duty on arrival was so charming and so apologetic for the difficulties everyone has in finding the hotel (lack of signage - the Town Hall is to blame). The receptionist on duty on departure tried to charge me more than my booking confirmation said for the room, on the grounds that we'd had a bigger room than we booked - how were we to know that? I won though.
Good value for the money. Wi-fi all over the hotel. Good parking possibilities.
Good clean and modern hotel with friendly if hard pressed staff (see below).Good room and facilities and convenient location Appalling road signing-ie none Disastrous breakfast arrangements which left us with no bowls, cutlery orange juice or choice of food despite numerous requests to the hard pressed member of staff serving.Ended up a rip off for us as we didnt get a proper breakfast at all.Avoid it until they get this sorted.
Clean, new facilities, convenient. Good bed - firm. Good value for money. (Excellent for Epernay) The fire doors were so tight & stiff that when opened they banged shut again. My room was right next to the fire doors, so they banged closed throughout the night.
Reception very good, rooms clean n comfortable, we enjoyed this hotel Directions were poor, that said, I feel that I'm at fault as I simply didn't get the map/directions before I left home - simple really!
The rooms were a decent size and the price of rooms was quite cheap. It was handy to have a carpark for hotel guests. Very difficult to find. Lacking in basic things like a map of the area. Room not cleaned during the day. It had the feeling of a hospital rather than a hotel.
good quality/ price ratio, good location, very modest but there was everything needed for one night sleep.
Short walk to the Avenue de Champagne Resturant closed Sunday evening
We were impressed with the location and condition of the hotel particularly as it was priced affordably. No complaints. Everything met our expectations, particularly as it was affordable and presented well.
Easy parking. Quiet. Good location for moving on. Tea-making facilities: unusual in France! Good fair price for quality of provision. Nothing.
The location was excellent - easy to find and only a short walk into the town centre. If was good to have onsite free parking. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The lighting in the room was very dim and there was little natural light, however as we were only there for one night this was not an issue
Good breakfast Room did not seem finished (after renovation?) a lot of little things were missing that you would normally expect, like hangers for your coats, vanity light.
The hotel is located in the centre of town. Very near the big champagne houses. The staff is very friendly and tried to arange a visit at a small champagne-house. The air was very dry in the room, so we had to sleep with the window open.
Friendliness, location, ambience. No tea or coffee facilities in room. Very slow wifi connection
Very comfortable Noise from other guests arriving back 2am
The Jean Moet is situated in the quaint central area of Epernay. It is a short walk to the best restaurants and champagne cellars in Epernay. It serves a simple yet enjoyable breakfast, and is impeccably clean. We had booked a standard room and were disappointed by its size. Definitely worth the 20 euros more to book a superior, which was significantly larger. The bathroom door was a sliding door, much like what you would see in a dressing room, so the privacy level was next to zero. Meanwhile the staff was not on point in telling me what champagne cellars were open on the off-season (even though the hotel was obviously totally booked even during the off season to visit the cellars... did they really not know Moet&Chandon was closed on Saturdays?). Lastly, there were problems with the hot water in our room, twice. The reception compensated by comping our two days of breakfasts.
Location Cheap, thin bath towels. Very, very small rooms for the price. Staff spoke limited English, but helpful. Charged for breakfast even though we didn't eat breakfast. Parking fees.
I wouldn't consider this a 3 star property, however, location and staff were great.
The hotel had only been open 2 days and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We were 2 people sharing a 3 bed room which we found very small, but comfortable. There was no room to have suitcases, making it difficult to access your clothes. Some hooks and shelves may make it a little easier. The wardrobe space was difficult to access, and with wet coats, as we experienced... Everything was going to get wet!
New hotel, good value for money Very small rooms, terrible sewage smell in the toilet.
Clean and tidy. Close to Epernay town. Value for money. Tiny bathroom.
Free, easily accessible WiFi. All-you-can-eat breakfast. Clean, comfortable. Located outside the town center. Compact bathroom.
clean hotel bed and shower are not designed for people longer than 180 cm
Free wireless internet was useful, although I initially had difficulty making the connection. Once connected, however, the facility was useful and convenient. The buffet breakfast selection was very basic. Also the room shower attachment was damaged and leaking, making showering very difficult.
Initial room had been smoked in - received a room change
This hotel was perfect for our requirements for one night. It was clean, bright, and compact. It offered free WiFi access which many more luxurious hotels do not. The breakfast wasn't noteworthy, but was sufficient.
it was cheap and clean
Cheap, clean and safe. Big car park. Location wasn't bad if you are happy with a 10 minute walk into town. Cramped (but we did have 3 adults in a room).
We are young & don't have huge amounts of money, so at first Air B&B seemed like the better option. But the location kept us looking at it. However, having stayed there and opted for the dinner, this is a place which goes above & beyond. Very laid back with an emphasis on enjoying the most simple and profoundly important act of being in France & in particular being in Champagne. Gracious & accommodating hosts who helped us find all that we needed (including a nice r This is an amazing place. If you don't like it, it's likely you should have stuck to Paris / some awful, gilded, Disney world of a hotel.
Conveneint location for my trip. Comfortable room with slightly cramped shower room rather like the ones on overnight ferries. Dining room unfortunately closed on Sunday evening although the hotel did send email to warn me.
The hotel was in a very good location and easy to find. The staff were friendly and it was clean. A good breakfast was otherwise spoiled by UHT milk.
Friendly staff and excellent restaurant Poor shower head facilities (ie not fixed) made for a less than happy showering experience (rooms 44 and 45)
Polite and friendly staff, good resturant, and a very good price
it is what it says it is - a family run auberge - trying hard to make customers feel welcome. The food was of good quality but wines seemed a bit expensive.
Enjoyed the selection of food in the restaurant. Breakfast was ample. Bathroom was a bit cramped.
Easy to find, friendly welcome.
Friendly staff, good value for the money.
The lady receptionist was first class and spoke excellent English, but the rest of the staff did not come anywhere close to her standard of helpfulness. The rooms were very average. The hotel is adjacent to the main road, and next to the bus/coach terminus, and is thus fairly noisy at times. The food was no more than adequate, even eating a la carte.
We have used this hotel for the past 20 years and have always had very good service and a comfortable room. Dinner is always very good except on Sunday when the restuarant isclosed. They have an area beside the bar which is never open.If you want refreshments you have to use the public bar.
Situation Bed was hard
Convenient for walking to Champagne houses, air conditioned. We wanted to have a little picnic in the breakfast room/bar one evening, buying champagne from the bar and we were not allowed to, as "someone else in the bar might not like it". There was no one else in the bar and it was already around 8 pm. The breakfast was way too expensive, 12 euros, and all that was offered was pastries, cereal, fruit, juice and coffee/tea.
Close to the centre of town and hotel staff very friendly, rooms were clean and perfect for what we needed. There was no parking at the hotel, but there is a large car park that you have to pay for outside. I thought this should be included in the price.
Very close to Avenue de Champagne
Very good location and easy parking. Helpful staff. Bathroom rather tatty and cheaply fitted. Loo ridiculously jammed up against the wall. We were overcharged for breakfast owing to their confusing system.
Friendliness of the staff No parking facilities Room tired Toilet faulty Bathroom too small and shower screen inadequate
Excellent helpful staff but facilities were a bit poor compared to other Best Western hotels and i don't think this was fairly reflected in the price.
Close to town.
in the central of the city no, good value for money
Close to town centre and ease of parking (may be more difficult in summer - although large pay carpark opposite hotel)
The location was fantastic, great restaurant wonderful staff.
Value for money. Central location.
Very good service for the very modest price. Excellent situation, kind and carefull staff, good breakfast. Most possible comfort (hear dryer, wifi) for the small family provincial hotel. no
convenient location, good breakfast, clean typical old style french hotel, no frills room was small but adequate for the needs of a few nights stay.
Comfortable room, good location, tasty smell of croissans in the morning In the morning could hear our neighbours leaving their room.
The rooms and facilities were excellent Difficult to locate reasonable restaurants in the vicinity
Clean rooms Rather 3 than 4*. Breackfast not included. Restaurant to expensive.
The feeling of being surrounded by beautiful things.
The food was very good indeed and the surroundings were sublime being set on the lake at Nantua. In that context it was good value. Room was a bit basic and the bathroom looked tired and ready for a facelift. Mattress had about lived its life and needed replacing.
Staff very friendly & helpful, room very functional, however no duvet. The hotels decor was a bit 80's.....
