Chambres d'Hotes De La Junchere - Saint-Hilaire-de-Court - Building
1
9.7 Excellent (304 reviews)

Located in Saint-Hilaire-de-Court, Chambre d’Hôtes de la Junchère is set in a former farm and offers a 17-hectare park, a pond and a terrace. Vierzon is just 5 km away. All rooms feature a view of the garden, a flat-screen TV, a wardrobe, heating and tea and coffee making facilities. The en suite bathroom includes a hairdryer. A continental breakfast is provided each morning at Chambres d’Hôtes de la Junchère and it is served in the breakfast room. Additional features include a communal living room with a computer, free Wi-Fi access and free private parking on site.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a French-run chambre d'hote but the four rooms are the same standard you would expect in a 4 or 5 star hotel, each with a large and spotless en suite bathroom. The layout is unusual, as there are four letting rooms at one end of the property surrounding a dining and sitting area and a kitchen, all available for the use of guests, so it's a separate self-contained part of the main house. The kitchen has a large fridge/freezer, kettle, etc, all available for the guests to use if they wish, and there's a large terrace outside with loungers, etc, again for guests' use. The rooms are big, each with a large double bed, television, bottled water and even individual chocolates. One bonus is that it's all on one level so there are no stairs to climb apart from a couple to enter the main door. Parking is right outside the door. The location is deep in the countryside and really quiet, but only about a 5-minute drive to the A20 autoroute, and Vierzon itself is a comfortable one-day drive from the Channel ports. Breakfast is excellent with the usual croissants, bread, butter and preserves (home made) but also typically includes strawberries, apple tarts, cheese, yoghurt and eggs if requested, along with coffee, a selection of teas and hot chocolate. Overall, excellent.
Cons: This is not a criticism but the owners do not speak English so at least a basic knowledge of French is a good idea.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful location, yet not far from main town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My room was spacious, smart and comfortable. There is a large communal area for eating and socialising, with a well equipped kitchenette, fridge and microwave. The welcome was extremely friendly, and the breakfast was superb.
Cons: There's nowhere to eat or drink in the village. Unless you're going to self-cater, you'll need to drive to find a meal. La Mire, on the road into Vierzon is the nearest (a couple of miles), and is very good. Although the village has little of interest, you're right on the edge of it, with attractive countryside beyond.

Pros: It was really great! The owners were nice and helpful, the location beautiful and full of history and art and the breakfast sweet and french and very tasteful. It is the perfect place if you are looking for a peaceful site. Our son loved the animals and the big park. We will for sure come back on our way to southern Europe.

Pros: Gigantic bedroom with amazing decor. Most importantly a very comfortable bed and instant hot water. Charming helpful hosts. Good breakfast. Vierzon is a very convenient stopping point if you are driving to Languedoc-Roussillon
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We have stayed in B&B's all over the world so we have a lot of experience, Our B&B Les Francière hosts could have not have been more friendly and accommodating. We left with the feeling that we stayed with family. We will be traveling to the same area in the next year and would not choose anywhere else to stay. The location is central to going North to Paris and South to Loire Valley.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: On the house itself: - delightful 'hotel particulier' in otherwise rather depressed, rundown city - very engaging host - comfortable room with bath - good breakfast On the town: - interesting location on River Cher - upper town (location of B&B) intriguing with medieval, cobbled streets and historical buildings
Cons: Lower part of town quite ghastly: numerous boarded-up ex-shops, seedy-looking bars, uninspiring urban constructions, lack of good restaurants (suprisingly good though was the pizzaria next to river). The day we passed (Easter Monday) there was piped pop music all over the town reinforced by the occasional broadcast racket of passing youths. Compared to all that the B&B itself was a haven of peace.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was sufficient. French. The room was enormous; we've never had a bigger room anywhere in the world! We were welcomed with a drink! Our host was very enthousiastic and gave us a good tip for a fine restaurant nearby. We had a wonderful meal there. When we left we forgot one of our bags and the hosts were so nice to return it to us by mail.
Cons: Nothing.

Henri cooked a great Vietnamese meal for supper which we weren’t expecting but was delicious and very lucky for us as most of the restaurants were closed on Sunday evening. Breakfast was also very good. The room was lovely. We appreciated the secure parking as we had a load of stuff in the car.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: If you want accommodation that is a bit different from the usual, look no further. Pascalle is a wonderful hostess. Although she doesn't speak English we got along very well. The space around the mill is great for relaxing and reading. The area is very tranquil - but also fairly close to the beautiful city of Bourges.
Cons: There is nothing here that we didn't like.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location a few minutes from motorway but very rural, peaceful and safe for parking a car overnight. The kitchen facilities are great for making a simple meal.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: A lovely old mill in nice grounds. The staff were very friendly and helpful The old mill is still there to look at
Cons: The rooms had no air conditioning and were very hot No hair dryer in the room. Probably the worst was the noise from the rooms above. It is a traditional building with beamed ceilings wooden floor boards and no insulation. Even when the people above were moving slowly you could hear every step
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good standard of accommodation in a very pleasant setting. The breakfast was good especially the coffee.
Cons: No curtain in the bathroom window
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful building, inside and out. Very clean. Good kitchen facilities. Good location for motorway travellers.
Cons: Lack of air con as it was very hot during our stay and couldn't leave windows open as no mosquito screens.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had 3 rooms here for an overnight stop en route to the Dordogne and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of our accommodation. Jacques, the owner, was very informative as to the history of the mill and very helpful. He had 2 very sweet dogs who were not disruptive at all and a very old Donkey - Valentin who children would love. Breakfast was super fresh and served to our timetable. Remember you pay cash at the end of your stay. Thoroughly recommend

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful apartment, exceptionally clean, tidy and very well equipped. Very comfortable bed and great shower - always a necessity when travelling.
Cons: We only stopped in Vierzon to break up our travel from Bruges to Spain. Vierzon doesn't offer the tourist very much. We walked through the small town and back to our accommodation in a short space of time. The accommodation is actually an old people's home renting out empty apartments. We were surprised and unaware that this was the case on booking. The staff didn't speak English and we experienced some difficulty getting out of the property for our walk because it's quite secure!
9.5 Excellent

Pros: An excellent property when traveling through the region. The room was comfortable, sound proof although we were right next to the highway and amenities were of a good quality such the breakfast that included some freshly baked pastries and a freshly squeezed orange juice among other choices. Staff was welcoming and very friendly. Value for money was excellent. The place looked brand new.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The beds were very comfortable, ensuring a good nights sleep.
Cons: There could have been more choice for evening dinner.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: it was ok, but the attitude of the girl at reception upon arrival was dissapointing, and that is tough after driving for 8 hours and "surviving" the pheripherique at Paris, a little bit more warm welcome would be appreciated

7.5 Good
Pros: That the cabins where private and gave you privacy. That the hotel phoned me on the day and asked did we want to reserve a table for that evening for 4.

Cons: As with lots of hotel restaurants and restaurants generally in France, many are closed on Sunday evening which is a little inconvenient if you want to eat. I located one Pizzeria in the town that was open and was very busy, so there is obviously a market. The food there was excellent
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located a 20 minute walk from the town centre and the train station. The price was perfectly reasonable, just £200 for a 4 night stay. Room was very spacious and cleaned daily, including fresh towels and bedsheets. The internet was very fast and stable. The bed was comfortable and there were extra pillows and blankets in the closet if you needed them. The shower and bathroom was clean and well maintained. Full length mirror in the bedroom and hairdryer in the bathroom, these are very appreciated. Bedroom windows are very large and let in a lot of light. Windows can be opened extremely wide for ventilation, and also had very thick curtains that kept out all light at night. If you are staying out late at night, you can access the building after the hotel closes via a door code. The staff were helpful and could speak English well and even provided me a free toothbrush when I realised I had lost mine. Pleasant colour scheme and comforting aesthetic throughout the hotel.
Cons: The hotel is at the top of a big hill, so you may get tired walking back home every day.
Hôtel Restaurant La Passerelle - Vierzon - Building

8.0 Excellent (357 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hôtel Restaurant La Passerelle, you'll be centrally located in Vierzon, just a 4-minute walk from Laumonier Steam Locomotive Museum and 7 minutes by foot from National Palace Cabaret. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and great food.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Attractive setting with safe parking (downside if returning late). Wonderfully huge room and bathroom. Comfortable beds, plenty of room for stowing clothes etc. Clean and attractive hotel, owners very friendly and welcoming. Just a handy walk to town centre (uphill going, but downhill on the way back which is the best way round). Interesting menu.
Cons: Had some trouble opening the yard doors when returning from town (late). Thought we were locked out until we were rescued by some helpful young men! The menu may be an acquired taste unless you like duck or curry with added beans. Wouldn't put us off staying there again, as the hotel was great.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed a very warm welcome, a chilled bottle of wine on the terrace and conversation with the lady of the house. Our room was very spacious, very tastefully put together, and quiet. Although there was no shower cubicle as such, the generous corner bath had a built in seat, so I enjoyed a sitting down shower. Regrettably we had arranged to dine elsewhere, but having seen the exciting menu, we plan to eat in-house on our way to the UK next time. We will certainly be staying here again on our future trips to the UK, and thoroughly recommend it to fellow travellers. This is a modern hotel that has been very well put together.
Cons: Leaving
7.0 Good
Pros: Dinner good and staff friendly.
Cons: Vierzon is not a very attractive town.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Car parking in hotel grounds; hosts very nice. The restaurant (featuring cuisine from Reunion) was closed but come out of the hotel, heading in the direction of the river and go down Rue du 11 novembre 1918 to Place de l'Arbreuvoir which is near the riverfront and you'll find places to eat (we enjoyed a meal at La Scala, an Italian restaurant).
Cons: Nothing really.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully kept with clean, modern bathroom; good overnight stay midway through France & just off the autoroutes; choice of French or Reunion menus; delicious Reunion meal; excellent breakfast with good bread and croissants
Cons: Usual lack of tea-making facilities; in a scruffy part of town
5.0 Okay
Pros: Friendly
Cons: Situation standard of room and bathroom
5.0 Okay
Pros: Parking in yard at rear was about the best thing of this hotel. Situated in town. Hotel staff were hard to understand. The room I had was very big but could do with redecorating and having a good clean. New bathroom but shower in the bath but no screen, so water everywhere. Did not have anywhere to sit and relax except outside or in your room. Restaurant was just a big room, no atmosphere. Food was not that great. No bar so bottled beer. Meagre breakfast.
Cons: In my opinion it needed somebody different in there to transform it into a proper hotel.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was owned by a lovely couple. We had a very pleasant meal in the hotel restaurant and the parking facilities were great, with a private free car park attached to the hotel.
Cons: The reason for the poor rating was the absolutely unbearable heat in our room. We knew there wasn't air conditioning before we booked but were informed there were fans. Unfortunately we stayed on one of the hottest days of the year. There was air conditioning in the dining room but in our bedroom, despite the windows being open, there were only ceiling fans which did absolutely nothing. Indeed the room seemed to trap hot air and was significantly hotter than anywhere else in the hotel. I have never slept in such a hot room in all my life. I would guess it was well into the high 20's. By 03:00 none of us had had any sleep. My husband retreated to the car to try and cool down and the rest of us soaked wet towels and laid them on top of us to try and cool down. Needless to say we all got absolutely no sleep and really struggled to continue the journey the next day.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Handy for the Auto route and easy to find. Great parking right outside the door. Decor modern but quirky. Ground floor room a decent size with a huge bathroom. Very clean. Staff delightful, Reunionaise cuisine different, tasty and good value. Service friendly and excellent. Drinks well priced. Bed very comfy. Nice walk for dogs nearby along the Canal du Berry. Good stop off halfway through France north to south. Would certainly return
Cons: Vierzon has some very ugly buildings. Some bathroom fittings getting a bit tired. Breakfast although cheap was too heavy on sweet stuff for my taste. Nothing to put me off returning to this good value stopover.

6.8 Good
Cons: Bed not comfortable
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here on our way down to the south, and it was a nice surprise to find that this small hotel has a very good restaurant. It was our first night in France, so we were pleased to find this historic place, with its authentic French cuisine. The evening meal was a bit pricey starting at 40 euros, but delicious food, in particular the seafood starter, and we enjoyed eating outside on the terrace. It is in the Michelin Guide. The price of the room was very good value (including breakfast and use of pool), so this offset the cost of the dinner. Breakfast was the usual bread/croissants and conserves, eaten outside on the terrace. Enjoyed the swimming pool., which I had to myself at the time.
Cons: The rooms were small and basic and could do with updating.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable room, clean and tidy on arrival. Excellent food and delicious home made jam.
Cons: The bathroom could have been painted the same colour as the bathroom. Bedroom was grey. Bathroom was orange.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel has an excellent location not far from the autoroute and BOURGES. It has enclosed parking. We arrived at the end of a long day and the temperature was about 37 degrees. The hotel has a fabulous pool and we thoroughly enjoyed using it. That alone would be worth it, but in addition it has an excellent restaurant and we both had really good dinners. Good value as well The staff are excellent and very helpful.
Cons: Well the decor is a bit funky, dated but it’s clean and everything works.
7.0 Good
Cons: The hotel could use some remodeling...carpets are old and stained, decoration is poor..
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Tasting menu very good. Wine choice good and reasonably priced Breakfast completely satisfactory.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is the real deal, very very French, do not miss this wonderful Hotel experience. The restaurant is out of this world, expect quirky.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable and charming owners
Cons: All good
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The food was excellent some of the best weve ever had in france
Cons: the rooms could do with updating
7.5 Good
Pros: The attentive service, including help with my baggage. there is no lift and a rather long stair case to the first floor.
Cons: I was disappointed in the restaurant. There were only two other guests. Apparently everyone else was at a local pop festival. The fish of the day main course, turbot, was overcooked. Breakfast was minimal, a portion of baguette and two tiny dry croissants.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in a converted cinema, the walls are decorated with pictures of the film stars and other movie memorabilia, the place has great character and the staff are lovely. The restaurant has the same theme and the food is good.
Cons: The shower, there is no holder for the shower head so you have to hold it in your hand all the time (or ask a friend!)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The climatisé and the ceiling fan were very good utilities to have in the room during hot summer temperatures. The underground secure car park gave us peace of mind. The friendliness and relaxed good service we received from ALL the staff was really appreciated.
Cons: The television in our room was supposed to have an English channel (BBC world ch. 32), but it did not!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to river walks and nice bars/restaurants. Most important to me is the secure underground carpark. I could rest assured that my motorbike was safe next to CCTV cameras and the entrance to the hotel. Ideal half way stop if heading south from the channel ferries.
Cons: The hotel is looking a little tired, inside and out, although I did see some freshly painted areas. However, the rooms were comfortable and price reasonable so I wasn't disappointed.
5.8 Okay
Pros: It was very central.
Cons: Rooms very small and claustrophobic and loo not fitted with air extraction. Check in staff cold and unwelcoming, but lady at Reception on check out very friendly. Lift Shuts down at 10.30pm so if you have any difficulty climbing 3 flights of stairs then tough.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stayed here 5 years in a row en route home from Spain.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location
Cons: Not much selections in restaurant on site
9.3 Excellent
Pros: A friendly welcome and the correct room was ready (I had made a specific request). The room was just as expected and the air-conditioning was very welcome! The meal was just right with polite and friendly service and a good choice. I would happily recommend this hotel to others.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was mediocre, but that is the case in many hotels in France. The facilities were quite good, tea making, air conditioning, tv, good shower, also the underground garage is very useful when worried about a car loaded up for the journey.
Cons: Room looking a little sad but still fully functional, we have stay at this hotel on other occasions over the years and it still looks much the same, needs a spruce up. The lift could only be used up to the first floor and we were on the third!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Air con in the room ( worked ok ) , lovely shower in our room , 2 towels each ( unlike an Ibis Hotel ) 500 yds away from a street with Bars and Restaurants , secure under ground parking and its free . Second time here and will stay again in September.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and efficient staff. Communal areas had interesting 1950s and 1960s memorabilia.
Cons: Bedroom a little basic and could do with being redecorated

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very good and friendly. The room was nice, it was clean and the bed comfy. The hotel was situated 5/10 minutes walk from centre
Cons: Sadly I thought the area was not very appealing. The hotels appearance from the outside looking in wasn’t attractive upon arrival. It is an ok stop over hotel but I wouldn’t want to spend any amount of time here. We travelled in August to find most of the nearby restaurants and bars closed.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very friendly and although I don't speak any French were very patient in explaining the menu options.
Cons: Parking my car is a jeep and I had my MTB in the back and it did not feel very secure just off the street
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Basic city centre hotel with Restaurant and Bar. We used it as an economic overnight stay whist crossing through France. Simple clean en-suite room. Close to A20, A71 and A85 Motorways. Free on street parking, which we used. There's also the option of secure parking across the road a short walk away. We enjoyed Dinner with Wine in The Restaurant area of The Bar. This was reasonably priced. The owners originated from Portugal, this is reflected in the wine list. We preordered and paid for Breakfast (optional extra); Coffee, Fresh Croissant, Pain Au Chocolate, Bread, Brioche, Jam, Cereals, Yogurt and Apple Sauce that The French enjoy! Proper Coffee from 'The Big Espresso Machine' behind The Bar with refills on request! We considered the €7.50 cost each reasonable, given the generally high prices in France and that we each had two cappuccinos!
Cons: The Bar is quite popular, there was a bit of noise coming from outside, our room was at the front overlooking the street. The noise did subside after midnight!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good menu for the evening me a and breakfast. Very clean room and comfy bed. Friendly people, tried to help out as much as they could. Nothing was too much trouble. Secure parking for the motorbike.
Cons: On a noisy road, but can't blame hotel for that. No door on bathroom

Pros: Big enough and clean room
Cons: No door for toilet
7.5 Good
Pros: breakfast OK nit stunning but good enough
Cons: on a main road so noisy. No door on shower room/ toilet
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel was central with plenty of restaurants nearby. No airconditioner in room but there was a fan which was sufficient.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: No A/C ,smell in the room, no hairdryer, not tea or coffee facility, not enough shower gel or shampoo. No cot beds available for children.
6.8 Good
Pros: Nice bar and restaurant, basic clean room
Cons: Noisy room. The hot pipe clanked every 1 to 2 minutes. Kept me awake. Had a lovely meal but then we both had to rush to the toilet with upset stomach. No door on the ensuite bathroom which was not great. Would try again.

3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The food was tasty
Cons: On arrival after long journey, receptionist curt and u friendly. No hairdryer. This is bad for for 3* hotel. Room was cold but we were told heating is turned off during summer. But worst of all this morning got up early at 6am to have shower and no hot water! The receptionist told us the couple staying there in room 16 yesterday had same problem but if you wait several minutes it gets hot. My question why put us in that room then?
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good welcome. Great that they were able to change room at last minute for partner of limited mobility
Cons: Parking may be out of sight!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I was lucky and had the room for disabled travellers , this meant an extra large
Cons: No communal sitting area. Difficult to find with google maps
5.8 Okay
Pros: Basic facilities for a night's stop over. Nothing to write home about. Don't know how the restaurant could mess up an omelette though!
Cons: Ant infestation on some tables in outside dining area.
6.3 Good
Pros: Not a lot.
Cons: The hotel must have reissued our room because someone came into the room yesterday evening with a key! When we complained the reception staff were not interested, needless to say we did not sleep well having piled our luggage against the door.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel in an out of town location. Nice evening meal in the attached restaurant.

6.8 Good
Pros: location was great and although a bit basic the room very clean and good value
Cons: Although we had not booked a breakfast we added and paid for these in the morning but the buffet was nearly completely finished when we went for breakfast and the reception basically said "we should have booked" although she was happy to take our money
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Just that it was easy to find
Cons: Everything about the room. Never slept or tried to sleep on such uncomfortable bed. Reminded me of a prison bed , so much so I even dreamt I was in one! And I have never been to prison.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We were very impressed by the staff and in particular Karim. He could not have been more helpful and was extremely polite and professional. We had a wonderful stay and will certainly stay there again.
7.0 Good
Pros: It was good value for money and clean. The staff were helpful.
Cons: We asked for rooms together and were on different floors. The restaurant only serves breakfast, after a long day's drive it would have been lovely to have a cold drink or a beer. the breakfast was alright - usual continental breakfast. There was no air conditioning and it had been 36 degees during the day so it was a little difficult to get to sleep. Lack of a lift was a pain, my uncle is nearly 90 and he struggled to get up to the second floor and we struggled to get up to the floor above.
4.5 Okay
Pros: Breakfast buffet was fairly good although a muesli would be a decent addition to the honey puffs or coco pops on offer. The receptionist made a great effort to accommodate a room change - we were on 3rd floor but one of our party was unable to manage that many stairs. He managed to change her to the first floor even though the hotel was fully booked.
Cons: No lift or aircon. We were given a fan when we asked but it was not very strong and made no difference. Water temperature in the shower was either freezing or scalding hot. Old beds with springs that were very easily felt by hand so they were really uncomfortable. A bad night's sleep which is really awful when you are travelling! At breakfast there were crumbs all over the tables - it would be easy to wipe them clean! No bottled water in the rooms as advertised. Tea and coffee facilities - 2 coffee sachets, 4 teabags and 3 sugars. Thin plastic cups which are too hot to hold. No creamer. This Kyriad was quite inferior in standards to others we have used so we were disappointed.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: A
Cons: The restaurant only had one desert spoon for cereals. Which I find hard to believe when they put out cereals for breakfast.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The camponille restaurant down the road serves food and beer
Cons: It advertised a bar. There was 3 of us and there was 3 bottles of beer in the bar. That was is.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff! Definitely recommend and will stay again!!
4.3 Okay
Pros: The staff tried very hard to make guests welcome with nothing to offer but their charm as the hotel is very run down. The location is perfect for a stopover when travelling to the south coast.
Cons: This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. The room was very dirty & needs fumigating. There were cockroaches in the room, the carpet was filthy and the room smelt discusting. No remote for tv and only 1 pillow. We asked to move but they could not accommodate this.

Pros: The location was convenient for getting back onto the autoroute. The cleaner was helpful and friendly. But only met her when we had left the room. She had already cleaned the room and we had to go back in to use the toilet...
Cons: The floor of the room was rather grubby and smelled musty. We had two rooms to sleep 5 but only 4 towels. The bathroom is so small it's impossible to keep the floor dry without a bathmat or extra towel. The toilets downstairs were out of order but we were not told so we had to take our keys back from the basket to use the toilet in the room after checking out.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Easy to arrive late at night
Cons: Fine for an overnight while travelling
7.0 Good
Pros: Location half way through to Perpignan
Cons: Easy access from the motorway
