Pros: It was perfection! Modern, spacious, clean, beautiful. The hosts were extremely supportive, friendly, and helpful. They made us very welcome.
Cons: Not a thing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed the safe and peaceful cottage within a fantastic garden. The owners were very thoughtful and friendly so we felt like at home. We only stayed for 4 nights but we certainly will come again next year. Thank you to Margarida and Nuno.
Cons: The weather
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is rather secluded, with an exceedingly nice garden, a pool and an outside bar of sorts to be enjoyed. The room we took was spacious, secure and privacy was assured by a keycard-locked door and an external door to the balcony. Apparently, there are three rooms, sharing common areas (kitchen and living room), which we found very cozy, with large windows opening to the garden and a pellet burner to scare away the cold of the local winter nights. It is tastefully decorated, masterfully hosted, and we enjoyed every moment there. Extra bonus points for the rather nice breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ewerything, the hosts are very friendly
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely welcome, spotless, we'll appointed and comfortable room and communal areas.
Cons: All perfect!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A hidden oasis in convenient location. Beautiful and extremely relaxing place with great hosts, all one could ask for a short getaway. Nice location near Vila Real, still tucked away in own privacy. Treat for those who are into landscape architecture.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Very good accommodation with attractive garden setting; helpful host family; comfortable rooms
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect Place to relax
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderful stay at Casa do Prado Guesthouse. You reach the house through an impressive driveway, is located in a very beautiful area and is a good base for exploring the area. We were very warmly welcomed by Margarida and Nuno and stayed in a comfortable (very clean) double room with super deluxe bathroom and a large private terrace. The guest rooms are in a beautiful building with a small kitchen and a common living room. The beautiful quiet garden with large swimming pool offers plenty of space for eating outside and relaxing. There is enough private parking. Every morning there was a good breakfast prepared by the hostess . We were here for 3 nights but would have liked to have stayed longer to view the surroundings and enjoy the beautiful garden. Conclusion: if you want to visit the Douro valley and surrounding area then Casa do Prado Guesthouse is highly recommended. Nuno and Margarida, thank you very much for your hospitality.

Pros: Everything
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel itself is worth the visit. Stunningly restored to its original glory, with all modern facilities. Surrounded by lush gardens, a real oasis. Immaculately clean. Staff are very pleasant throughout. Good breakfast. And we had an excellent dinner. A place to visit again.
Cons: Our experience was faultless.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the moment you drive in, the staff make you feel like you’re the only person in this place. Every detail is attended to, almost as if someone is watching every move you make, so that every experience is memorable. My friend and I were wondering, how can you be this perfect? As soon as your cup is empty it gets refilled, when your plate is ready to be cleared it is done in style and in perfect timing... the staff are truly exceptional and make staying here an unforgettable experience. Apart from that, the location is superb and set in a wonderful pine forest close to the village. The degustation experience from the chef was also outstanding. The beds are world class and sleeping with the windows open and listening to the fountain water at night made it one of the best nights ever. The decor is sumptuous without being over the top. It is truly world class and highly recommended.
Cons: I can’t fault a thing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing hotel the staff was wonderful
10.0 Excellent
Pros: premisses
Cons: room could be a little bigger
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Highlights: breakfast, beauty of property and park, beautiful decoration, spectacular dining room, spa, gorgeous setting, a very restful space
Cons: Some of the staff were not very friendly and somewhat cold (waiter when we had dinner in dining hall the first night; check-out person at reception. She did not even ask us how our stay went and did not invite us to return; one of the head waitresses in the breakfast area was cold and kept on monitoring how much juice we consumed even though it's an open buffet). Some staff were very friendly and professional: waiter and bartender in bar area inside; person who brought us our car when we left. Overall though, we recall that the staff were friendlier last time we came 6 years ago. The food can definitely be improved especially in the grand dining hall. Expensive for what it was. Scarce portions that were actually not that tasteful. We suggest they change the chef or invite a Michelin Starred chef to create the menu and train the staff. That is what a 5 star hotel should offer: great service and fine cuisine. We were hoping for an upgrade given that it was my husband's 50th birthday but we did not receive it. The first time we came over 6 years ago they gave us a free upgrade but it did not happen this time unfortunately.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A wonderful hotel where everything was perfect from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The staff were friendly, courteous and efficient but without being over formal. We had an exceptional meal in the hotel restaurant and an excellent meal in the wine cellar. The breakfast buffet could not have been better. All in all an outstanding experience
Cons: Perfection is not of this world... As a Brit I would have appreciated a kettle with tea and coffee in the room
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The Hotel is fantastic we had a wonderful time; the bed and pillows are the best, the spa is the best, the park is beautiful, the swimming poll and the bar are very nice, the breakfast is very good and so is the restaurant.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel and grounds are gorgeous and we loved the outdoor vitality pool and tented areas.
Cons: I was disappointed that although I mentioned twice (once in writing when booking and once during the check-in) that we were there to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, not one small gesture was made in recognition of this event. I was not looking for free champagne but it wouldn't have killed them to leave a note, a flower, or some kind of message in our room. I also expect a hotel of this category to cook eggs to order rather than have precooked eggs in a bain marie. The room needs more shelf or drawer space.
Casa Da Eira Longa - Vilar - Building
4
9.6 Excellent (95 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The green hill around, the commodity of the house, the cleanless, the breakfast...All was perfect and wonderful. Missis Maria, Filomena and Erminio are special people, We really like them. They keep the place enchantment and let you feel like warm family. Missis Maria help us with all needs. We will absolutely don't forget this holidays. Great for families. Thanks for all. We hope to back again soon, Definitely recommend it.
Cons: We really like everything

Casa Agricola Da Levada - Vila Real - Building
5
9.2 Excellent (961 reviews)
Overview Reviews
This unpretentious hotel is located in Vila Real. Travellers will enjoy a peaceful and calm stay at Casa Agricola Da Levada as it counts with a total of 13 rooms. Pets are not allowed at this establishment.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is great, the staff are very hospitable and the place has an interesting history.
Cons: The rooms are not super-modern but that is part of the charm of the place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a helpful and heartfelt sense of generosity. Started with the offer of a slice of the cake of the day as we checked in. The first evening they noticed we were lighting a fire in the stove and that our teenager was bundled up, so the receptionist and her husband brought more firewood and kindling and showed us how to use the heat.
Cons: Some people might expect the more mechanized perfection of good hotels, though we didn't mind that the room cleaning was a bit sketchy. The above-and -beyond helpfulness, including multilingual staff drawn maps, instructions for walking places when we preferred not to drive, the chickens and rabbits, all made up for it. You will need a navigation system, cab driver, or what we got (being led by the local police after we sought instructions) to find the place. The swimming pool is not fenced, and there are high retaining walls. small children will need close watching.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We had a Studio with a big terrace. It is located in a quite big Eco Farm. Nice to walk around in the farm area. Everything kept very well. The Studio had everything you need for your stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Very good instruction how to get to the place.
Cons: Located very close to IP4 road. So a little bit noisy. Sunbeds on the terrace are a little bit uncomfortable and the tables there are not so clean.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely attentive host, charming interior in a house that breathes history. Rooms are big a cozy, and the best is the breakfast - you get served local products, fruits, cheeses, everything super tasty
6.8 Good
Pros: Nice location, good for relaxing
Cons: Windows in the room were extremely small, very few natural light. Small swimming pool, not very clean. Basic breakfast but with some local farmed products.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Place itself and the overall feeling it gave, staff, food, pool, facilities - everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming! Great staff!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The whole concept: home-made products, eco-friendly place, green space near the city center, with chickens, beehives, a vegetable garden, a river stream... Absolutely fabulous! The bedrooms are really comfortable and big, the style is rustic and everything is very neat and well kept. The breakfast was delicious with home-made products!
Cons: The whole experience was great but if i have to point something less positive i'd say the traffic noise one can hear sometimes outside (there's a sort of highway near) - nothing that important though.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole place was just amazing. It is a farm just at the entrance of Vila Real. The place is really beautiful and you feel surrounded by nature. We stayed in a studio that was bigger than expected and has also a garden in front. The staff is also friendly. Overall it was a really good experience. Now we know the best place to stay in Vila Real.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic property. Full of character and history.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The beds were extremely comfortable, the room was perfect and the staff were extremely nice and accommodating. The recommended restaurant was also very delicious (Matteus) and we appreciate the staff making a reservation while we settled in
Cons: A little hard to find but that is my only complaint!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The guesthouse is beautiful, the staff are incredibly welcoming, helpful and friendly. The rooms are very comfortable and clean with great views. The photos don’t do it justice! It is so much better in real life!
Cons: I loved everything
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The Guest house has s been renovated to an amazing standard. Rooms are excellent and the bed was very comfortable, breakfast was very good to set you up for the day. Staff were very friendly and very accommodating. We didn’t get chance to use the outdoor pool, but it did look very inviting. Will definitely stay again if in the area.
Cons: Only issue we had was finding the place as it was hidden away from view. Only took a few minutes.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good , but should really say ... excellent !! The location is totally irrelevant when the accommodation / the installations are this good ! All guest houses / small hotels should visit and learn from them how it is done . I travel around Europe, and have found few installations this good .
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Lovely renovation, stunning design. Amazingly clean, contemporary rooms. Big open shower! The communal lounge areas are spacious and relaxing. Big car park at the back of the building.. Breakfast was really great! And the staff were very helpful and attentive!
Cons: It's not the best location to walk from but that's about it!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Gorgious rooms with a lot of space. Very beautiful renovated. Staff is very friendly amd very good breakfast. Good restaurants in the area. Big swimmingpool
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Modern, great bed, clean. Good breakfast.
Cons: Not easy to find.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This isn't a 'guest house' as we would understand the term in England; it is a boutique hotel. The hotel has been open since 2017 so everything is still pristine and beautiful. It is modern and minimalist in design and the gardens will only improve with age as they have only recently been planted. The rooms are spacious and well designed. The pool has sunbeds and shade and even inflatables for the children. The breakfast area is stylish with great coffee and a good choice of buffet food.
Cons: The immediate location is just off the auto-route and behind a car dealership. So immediate impressions on arrival were 'uh-oh', but the interior more than compensates. For those with mobility issues, neither the swimming pool nor stairways have hand rails- a sacrifice for style over function. This won't be a problem for most people, but it's worth mentioning.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely boutique hotel with helpful staff and very comfortable.
Cons: The locatiojn was a little dissapointing as it is just on the edge of a town and not in the countryside - nevertheless for the area.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully clean and tastefully decorated.
Cons: ?

Cons: Comfort, cleanliness, hospitality The welcome glass of home made port
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The Quinta is in a rural location which was wonderful after staying in larger towns. Swimming pool is amazing on top of hill with views of surrounding vineyards. We loved the history of the buildings and the interactions with the lovely host family. Breakfast room and the breakfast was great. There is access to a kitchen so you can self cater for dinner - recommended as you don't want to be travelling on local roads at night! Wish we could have stayed longer.
Cons: Only negative was that we couldn't get the aircon to work and it was a hot night.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice location, swimming pool is a great place to relax. Great that there is a communal kitchen that you can use, and BBQ’s outside.
Cons: Breakfast was good, but not great. We would’ve liked some eggs and fresh juices. The location is a little remote. Can be seen as a plus, but restaurants / ATM / supermarkets are at least a 20 minute drive by car.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Luis’ family Quinta. It was exactly as described and offered us a wonderful stop on our way through the Douro. The bed was comfortAble, the breakfast delicious, the host extremely congenial and the ability to stroll through the vineyard delightful. Pros: We loved everything about Quinta Cumieira. If you are looking for an elegant stay at a traditional 15th century Quinta that is also very comfortable, this is the place to stay. We absolutely loved it and cannot wait to return. Thank you Luis (owner) for welcoming us and for the taste of the amazing aged Port. If you choose Quinta Cumieira, you will not want to leave.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: location was very good and facilities modern and clean, nice sitting rooms and courtyard
Cons: the air conditioner was so cold that I couldn't sleep the whole night had to go out of the room and sleep a bit in the sitting room. No body told me how to use control the air conditioner and in a room of 6 seemed that the others had already adjust the temperature. This was really unpleasant thought was falling sick after that night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
6.8 Good
Pros: Kitchen very nice to use. Lobby very cozy. Staff very sweet. Backyard nice to use. Good location.
Cons: Only 1 bathroom for the dormitory. Almost no natural light in the room. Very humid in the room. We found a bed bug and got bed bug bites. One traveller was very innapropriate and loud un the room.
Quinta Monte S.Sebastiao - Murça - Building

9.5 Excellent (54 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I love the place, the persons (Isabel and Antonio), the services! Everything was perfect!!!!
Cons: Nithing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was excellent, perfect, amazing. Easy to find (there is only 1 road!, follow the "Turismo Rural" signs). The owners are the hosts, and they are incredible. We were welcomed with wine at the main room, we were able to know the wine facilities with wine and olive oil tasting, all incredible. The breakfast was always well prepared and served. The external swimming pool is heated to around 24C, with amazing view of the property and beautifully green surroundings. Restaurants around are very good! This was one of the most amazing places I've met so far.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting, fantastically comfy beds, lovely clean pool and surroundings
Cons: Quinta Monte Sao Sebastiáo is on the edge of town , very quiet and peaceful, but an easy stroll in for food in the evening. Very convenient for exploring the upper Douro region. Isabel and Antonio are great hosts, the breakfast is home made preserves , olive oil, cake, fresh fruit , local cheese and ham.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Views from the rooms is spectacular (Mountain Top). Our hosts were highly attentive (almost embarrassingly so). Antonio's tour of the winery (below the home) was welcome - Be sure to sample, and buy (at very reasonable prices), his award winning wines. Very clean; sparkling pool; scents of mountain vineyard air.
Cons: Difficult to find (at the end of an obscure narrow road). Waze wouldn't get us there but Google did - so use that link. The locals all say "take a left at the Pig Statue (true!).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Isabel and Antonio went beyond themselves to make us feel at home. We were traveling with toddler twins and they accomodated every need we had regarding the kids. They produce excellent wine, oil and jams. The region is great: food, wine and landscape are wonderful
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about this stay was perfect. The hosts welcomed us like their own family and allowed us the freedom to explore their estate. We were allowed to taste wine in their private cellar and spent wonderful summer evenings on the patio drinking the estate wine. Cons: Nothing
5.5 Okay
Pros: The owner is attentive and the setting of the place pleasant.
Cons: There was an awful smell of sewage in the bedroom which persisted through the night. The owner must rectify this if he wants happy clients. Breakfast was very poor - better not to offer it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything! All of the staff were friendly, caring and professional. The quality of the food at dinner and breakfast was delicious and well-presented in an elegant dining room. The bedroom and modern bathroom were spacious and impeccably clean and the bed was very comfortable. The house is full of history and has been thoughtfully decorated throughout, without losing its rural charm. The swimming pool area is a perfect space for relaxation. Maria, the manager, gave us an informative tour of the Quinta and explained how the wine is made. We were encouraged to walk through the vineyard and see for ourselves and of course, we came away with a bottle or two, which was no hardship for us! We highly recommend you to come and experience all of this for yourself.
Cons: There was nothing that we didn't like. Please note that if you require an evening meal (which I recommend), it is helpful to let them know in advance as it helps with the catering.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: In three weeks travelling around the Portugal countryside this was the best overall accommodation experience I had. A lovely old house beautifully restored and presented, a friendly, engaging and helpful host, good facilities, wonderful home cooked food (and lovely wine) and in a lovely area. A pleasure to visit.

Pros: It was a smart eco hotel that was well planned with good facilities.
Cons: Can’t think of anything I didn’t like.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location to wind down and get away from the city. Amazing views from the top floors and from the pool area. Restaurant has great menu for a good prize. Breakfast is also great, although was the same for all 4 days. Would love to come back if in this area again, highly recommended.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is very good. We spent five nights here. Quality of food in the restaurant was excellent and staff were very helpful. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choices. Rooms are nice and it is not a noisy hotel. Outdoor and indoor swimming pools excellent and sauna, steam room etc very good. Right next to the Pena adventure park which is good for activities for a day or two but park is pricey enough. You could easily spend a couple of hundred Euros (we were a family of 4).
Cons: The pillows are awful, we all had sore necks after our 5 night stay! Only one area (bathroom) with a mirror which can make getting ready a bit cumbersome.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast excellent
Cons: Stains on the carpets in the bedroom. Grounds were a bit untidy Access to the outdoor pool was like it was through a building site.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We took romantic package and it definitely worth it! Excellent dinner and jacuzzi with bottle of wine included. Beautiful view from swimming pool
Cons: We waited 40 minutes for our dinner reservation

7.5 Good
Pros: Ines, the host very very friendly and helpful. The room was nice with a very comfortable bed. The place is great if you want to visit Casa de Matheus since it is around the corner.
Cons: The pool is nice to refresh but don't expect too much. Unfortunately no dinner is offered and the next restaurant is a 10 min walk and nothing special. It was a pitty Ines did not mention to us that for the Casa de Matheus is makes sense to reserve a tour since you can only visit it with a tour and if they are fully booked you might have to wait a few hours. So in the end we could not visit the house.

Pros: It was a fabulous stay in a very cozy and warm typical house. Very delicious breakfast! We are grateful for hospitality of D. Ines and her husband and hope to come back again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was amazing ... a beautiful home, amazing antique furnishings and the perfect hostess! The pool was so refreshing after the walk to the palace. The garden is large & secluded with lots of privacy! Even the restaurant she recommended (Maria do Carma restaurante residential) was perfect - within walking distance.
Cons: Nothing this place is a 20/10!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our host INES was wonderful. So very friendly and knowledgeable about the area- got some good trip recommendations. Her Breakfast with the homemade cakes and jams is superb, and the rooms are cleaned daily, fresh towels and all- very nice touch. Ines produced little cakes each day for afternoon tea as well, -much appreciated. Internet was patchy- but then its a country estate, worked 95% of the time. BONUS was that YOU CAN PARK on site. Her husband Paolo has a restaurant close by- great food..
Cons: nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We wanted to visit the Mateus Solar and this property was nearby with parking and with restaurants within walking distance. The owner of the property made us feel very welcome and recommended an excellent place to eat as well as a tour for the next day. The breakfast was excellent in a lovely room. We had a cup of tea in the garden in the sunshine but it was too early in the season for the pool to be ready.
Cons: Access to the parking would have been tight if we had a large car.

Pros: Breakfast was fantastic. The staff was friendly and the building itself was nice. It was like being in a museum. We were the only guests on that day but we didn't feel abandoned.
Cons: The room was cold and the heating wasn't very strong. The TV in our room only had the basic channels

Pros: The property was great, the staff was excellent (Fani was super warm and friendly). We will definitely return if within the area. We also thought it could be a great place for special occasions with friends or family as it is quite secure, reserved and well taken care of.
Cons: Parking could be better but it is the trade off for this type of tourism. A minor point would say.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: No faults at all
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is beautiful, a gem and the staff were very friendly and accommodating
5.8 Okay
Pros: Nice localization between Vidago and Pedras Salgadas.
Cons: Its hard to park at the property. There is not really parking place. The pool was actually public swimming pool. We stayed in the room 8. The room was completelly different from the pictures of the booked room through Booking. There was no wifi at all. Probably due to location of the room. Also almost non of the listed facilities on Booking was available in the room. Not even a hair dryer. The room had entrance to the garden but no key to open it. Moreover, the door was from 3/4 made from glass so everyone from the garden could see inside the room, whis was very uncomfortable. The garden look very nice from long distance but from closer look, the chairs were covered with birds excrements. Don´t know if we were only unlucky with the room, but it influenced the impression from the entire property.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A little gem of a find! A very last minute booking and we confused everything by getting our times mixed up and turning up way to earlier but the staff could not have been more friendly and welcoming. We couldn’t believe our luck when we saw the stunning setting. A beautiful old family home that has been brought up to date to provide the most idyllic of accommodation. One of those places you always hope for on your travels but so rarely actually find. Can’t recommend them enough!!!
