The location is quite far from Cuenca, further than is said in the description. The site is among a lot of houses and barns in decay. Not very attractive. Some lorries, etc, make some noise when they start in the morning or return. It looks like a company working on the roads.
Lovely room, Helpful and Friendly Staff, Quite location, Good Food, English speaking staff. Motorcycle Friendly
A fabulously quirky hospederia. Friendly staff, great room and gorgeous food. Beautiful setting. We were offered this as an alternative when our booked hotel became unavailable - we were so glad! We would definitely visit again. A little far out if you want to visit the village for ameal and a drink but the food at the hospederia was so good it more than made up for this!
Size of room and cleanliness. Poor food, expensive food, inadequate dining facilites. Restaurant only open couple of days per week, have to eat in the ´caferteria´´!!...which is the reception. Tried room service...rubbish...food cold. 16 euros for a burger...big but expensive.
the comfort of the room attention from the staff needs to be improved
comfortable hotel, in line with other NH places we have visited Location is not good if you are thinking of walking around Cuenca, as it is quite far from the old town.
cleanliness of rooms Unable to close the curtains properly
Breakfast was good. Room was very comfortable. Did not like the fact that both the bar and the restaurant were closed on the Sunday. We arrived hot and tired but were unable to get any refreshment.
The room, Staff, clean, good breakfast, reception, garage facility, dissapointed with evening meal not served in restaurant. As above
Convenient location when you travel by car. Very clean room as always at NH hotels. Friendly staff. Good value for the price. Slightly distanced from major spots in Cuenca (more than a half hour walk)
The room was clean & spacious. The soundproofing in the room was non existant. You could hear the conversation of guests in the next room. The flush of a toilet was loud enough to wake the dead! My wife didn't sleep at all that night. The hotel wasn't in a great location. The parking was too expensive. If the hotel has a private underground car park then parking should be free to guests.
The female reception staff were very helpful. The male reception staff were not friendly at all, infact very rude.
The hotel was in a convenient location. Internet was free and available easily
This hotel is very good value for money, especially if staying mid week. It is quiet, clean and comfortable. It is easy to park in nearby streets for a reasonable ticket price. The food in the bar is excellent value for money and the breakfasts keep you going for the whole day. This was our second visit and we will certainly stay again.
Leaving it behind us. Where do I begin? The only smiling face we saw in the hotel belonged to the cleaning lady. The rest of the staff we dealt with at check in or in the dining room were unsmiling, unhelpful or downright surly. No information was available about points of interest. No extra pillows were available in the room and the lights were too dim to read by. The dining room was like an East German railway waiting room before the wall came down. The cost of parking was ridiculously high, although voluntary. This hotel should never be rated 4 star. We stayed in its sister hotel in Toledo which was infinitely superior in all respects. Overall, very poor value for money.
Near enough to the main sights to be a fine base :-) No parking available in the hotel's car park for us.
Easy to locate. Parking available. No room service. The restautant didn't open until 9pm and the cafe didn't have anything to eating. We had to call out for an awful take out meal.
very nice rooms good food and nice staff
within walking of the old town bars and restarants
large rooms, large and comfortable beds. very stylish hotel.
Central situation, unspoilt medeival setting sympathetically updated, as a modern hotel. Lack of international choice on TV, which seems petty BUT it is nice to keep up to date with the news.
Beautiful hotel converted from Convent. Staff were excellent and helpful especially with car park. The hotel was very noisy. You could hear through the walls easily and surprisingly as it is a converted convent and one would expect stone walls. However we paid 149 euro and when we arrived there were rates at half that price. Perhaps check the hotels own website a week before you arrive and outside the cancellation window.
Brilliantly maintained, fantastic view from our hotel, smart decor and overall a very comfortable stay. Would definitely stay there again. Bottom floor restaurant is recommended as well.
It was central to the old part of the city and had fast access out to the local countryside.
central, beautiful view overlooking gorge andd clean
Very professional, wonderful location and brilliantly decorated within a really old world setting. Nothing
We had room price on a 50% discount (last minute). Furthermore drinks are cheap:less than Euro 1,50 for a glass of wine! No information on Cuenca or suroundings
Position in historic centre.size and furnishing of room n/a
The two rooms we had were very clean and had a bit of character but were unexceptional. Location is good. The hotel restaurant is a joke -- aesthetically attractive but the food simply canned food placed on nice dinnerware -- and was very expensive. A tourist dive we ate in actually had better food at a fifth the price. The restaurant was an umitigated ripoff -- overpriced and terrible food. We ate there at the recommendation of the hotel staff, who warned strongly against eating elsewhere in the area. The hotel is fine, but the restaurant is awful (and the hotel loses some credibility for warning against eating elsewhere).
problem with parking - only street parking unless you paid for a garage (would not have been enough space in high season) Food was not of a good standard and very expensive
The hotel uses Parador de Cuenca in the WEB-booking but in Cunca it uses Parador Tourismo on road signs which makes it difficult to find. They should use the same name on the WEB-page as on their direction signs in Cuenca.
Beautiful location, unique building - previously a Catholic seminary for training priests, friendly service and beautifully decorated in a classical style. The hotel policy allows non residents to use the public areas of the hotel without restriction. This includes the cloister, as a result on occasions this beautiful quiet area can be taken over by large groups, leaving no room for residents.the management should review their policy to protect the interests of their guests.
Great location in a beautiful and unique city. Rooms are comfortable and attractive. Parking should be provided at no additional cost in this rural location.
superb position excellent room and service no
A historic atmosphere
location is top! great views of the medieval city we were disappointed taht the swimmingpool was closed and that there was no place to sit outside to relax, only the bar.
The location is fantastic and the dinner we had was delicious with efficient and friendly service. The check-in and out employee (same person) seemed to be a bit overwhelmed and not overly friendly even though it was not very busy at either time.
Location for Cuenca - perfect position and easy walk into town. Evening meal very good but expensive as was breakfast
The location was fantastic, right across from the medieval town via a bridge, and the best views of the hanging houses were from the Parador. Looked like a palace, and everything was well-built and to last.
Well situated for the old town and the new town.
Perfect hotel!! Great staffs! Clean and nice room! Nice view from cafe (7F)!!!
The view from the restaurant at 7th floor Staff had some problems speaking English
Good location in the new part of town. Room was very big and there was air-conditioning.
The room my wife and I were allocated had a defective a/c unit so we were upgraded to a suit which was very nice indeed. The hotel was very clean but my one disappointment was that after spending the whole day sight seeing we only had time for one drink at the bar before closing at midnight. No
Nice big room and bathroom and good size flat screen tv. Excellent location and just a few minutes walk from the old city. No internet access.
It is located on a lovely square with an attractive park. The restaurant has excellent views of the old town. It is not too far to walk anywhere but it is all uphill!
Location Restaurant good but a bit expensive
Central location. Good food.
Very clean, spacey room and bathroom, excellent location, friendly hotel staff, excellent view of the old city from the cafeteria on the last floor, great value for money. I decided to extend my stay for a second night. More than satisfied! About the hotel no. The only thing that there is no parking lot and the price in the public parking is 16euro/day.
In new town, nr train station, but not the ACE one, but bus stops outside if you know where you are going !Also great price and good shower Really cold and whilst there is a large air con/ heater it took ages to warm up
More than what we would have expected. Very clean, comfortable rooms, secure doors, very friendly staff. Lots of free parking around. The walls were a little thin, we could hear when our neighbors came in at night etc...The location wasn't perfect, but overall we couldn't be happier
The location was very good and the staff offered a very confortable stay.
The location. The hotel was dark and depressing.
Very outdated, carpet in the bathroom and bad aircondition.
Central location within a historic city Poor breakfast by modern standards in Spain. Room facilities a little basic
good central location, rooms very clean, and smart and modern very good value for money. unfortunately no one spoke english, and we got in a muddle with the car parking, so a bit of a nightmare, you are past the car park before the hotel, no bar facilities breakfast basic. bathroom in one of our rooms was so tight you could not get in the door without it banging the toilet.
Easy parking, friendly staff, clean & comfortable room. Tea/cofee maker would be nice.
location the rooms had thin walls, you could hear everything . the rooms were cold.
The location was excellent and with garage facilities on site. Simply decorated and clean. Value for money. Reception had no map on town. We were not given details of times nor costs of breakfast. So didn't have breakfast at hotel. Access to garage a bit tricky in 4x4 but was possible. Outside appearace not very appealing.
We were disappointed that although breakfast was 7.30, the breakfast staff did not arrive until nearer 8am. The receptionist did his best and we managed to get coffee and basic cereal. We needed breakfast as we had onward committments. A slight reduction was made in the charge for breakfast to reflect this.
The room was renewed, spacious and very clean. Very good value for money. The bathroom was a bit small but it's not a problem for a short stay.
Nice staff. Easy to find Close to city (if you have a car) clean breakfast good price Room was not like the pictures. Very, very small. The "double" bed was only slightly bigger than a twin, despite having paid extra for the "double" over two twins. Air con was extra cost Had to pay an extra 20 Euros to get a room with a bed to fit two adults.
Central location Hotel was unable to process achip and pin credit card they did not have the correct machine and kept telling me it was my Bank. I think this should be made clear to other guests before they try to pay.
We liked this hotel, we'd stay again. The staff were helpful and friendly, our room was spacious and airy with a heart stopping view over Cuenca. We didn't need the aircon on, even in the August heat. The hotel's just minutes from good cafes and restaurants in the old town square.
Perfect location and a beautiful room at a good price. Our room was above the kitchen and the noise was very disturbing - particularly during clearing up at 1am with the kitchen door open! This was unfortunate as every other aspect of our stay was perfect.
The view and breakfast
The Hotel was beautiful and had incredible views of the monestary. Room was very romantic. I loved the location in relationship to Paza Mayor, many places to eat and shop for special things such as pottery.
the room and view were greta but bathroom needs updating
I liked its position in the old town of Cuenca and its views over the gorge. There needed to be more information about the difficulty of driving in Cuenca old town.
Its quiet situation at almost the highest point of the old town. The castle walls, and the car park (with a few nearby cafés and restaurants) giving a spectacular view of Cuenca, are a short walk uphill. A long, very steep downhill walk leads to all the points of interest in Cuenca. The return walk uphill would be testing for some people, but there are some buses and also a tourist train which pass the hotel. The hotel is close to several bars and restaurants; particularly recommended for its food and the fantastic view of the gorge from its dining room is the Comedor Posada de San José, a few minutes' walk from the hotel - reservation advised. There is fee wi-fi in the hotel lounge. The untidy reception desk gives a bad initial impression of the hotel. My single room was cramped, careworn and not particularly clean. There was only one straight-backed chair. With a 7.30 am departure from Cuenca bus station the next day, I was unable to take breakfast, which was only available from 8.00 am.
The views from the room, if you are lucky enough as to get a room overlooking the "hoz del Huecar", i.e. the valley towards the south east, are fantastic, so if you book here, ask for one of these rooms. The rooms have walls which are hardly sound-proof; the running water system seems to be old and faulty, and very noisy. Some of the staff seems to be hardly experienced.
location in the midle of the old town. Views from the room. The whole hotel is very noisy, and the outside noise continues untill early mornings. Parking is far away.
The quiteness. Too far away from anything.
Large room with separate lounge area. Very comfortable.
Nice and quiet in beautiful surroundings. Fine breakfast Except for the lady receptionist the staff is poor in English (and German and French as well). The restaurant should open already at 8 pm in stead og 9 pm
Very good kitchen, extremely nice terrace, good location to visit and park Cuenca.
the ambience of this old monastry is excellent the restuarant was good for set menu and a good mix for breakfast. It is 10 min drive to town not a 5 min walk.
The location was perfect, just far enough out of the town to be quiet and restful. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant on both nights of our stay and the Menu de Hotel was excellent. Waiter service was great and the food was nice and hot!
the veiws were excelent from hotel grounds Light fittings hanging by wiresfrom ceiling, full of cobwebs
The excellent location for visiting Cuenca, and vantage points for taking pictures of the famous cliff homes.
The situation ,food, staff, and the history of the building. I felt it a shame that the grounds seem to be a little neglected,at one time it must have been lovely.
sightseeing and theposition of the hotel the breakfast buffet bread was stale staff were not responsive and the variety of meats and fresh fruits was poor
The staff was extremely helpful. They knew enough English to help us out. The room was very clean and the bathroom was roomy. The location was good for downtown Cuenca and it was a 20 minutes walk to old town. There is no parking available and the room was not air conditioned.
excellent value & the family were most helpful
Excellent value for money and good location being very close to both the old and new towns. The room was very beautifully decorated and the bed very comfortable. The lady who showed me to my room was very friendly and helpful. The only problem was that the walls were not very sound proof and I could hear everything the people in the room next door did. I could hear their conversation and everything! If you don't speak Spanish, it may be a problem when you have to phone the owners before you arrive to arrange the key exchange.
The room is gorgeous. Hardwood floors, beautiful wallpaper, and the shower was amazing, literally the best one I used in Spain. I guess I did not read closely enough, but I did not realize that this is not a hotel. It is basically a few rooms inside of an apartment building but there is no reception. That means you have to call them from the train station or wherever and they come meet you at the address. They left me the keys and were very nice, but also I felt really rushed and did not have time to ask them any questions about Cuenca or anything. It is not in the old part of town but is right below it and not a far walk. There is a bar right across the street that plays loud music until 2 or 3 am if you are a light sleeper.
Very clean and modern There is nobody to talk and very hard to find this hostel because there is no sign and no name about the hostel on the buliding. I get somehelp from the street and they called hostel manager or oficer and I have waited for 45 minutes opening door and having a room. Hostel staff were great but their system is terrible
Nothing The reception facilities, the room, the bathroom, the lounge, the dining facilities, the area.
The location is perfect, in the middle of the historical town. There is a terrace on which to have breakfast, with view on the beautiful landscape and river. The room was unfortunately on the streetside, so we didn't have the landscape view, but apart from that is was great: a very comfortable bed, large room, large bathroom with a jacuzzi in the bathtub. The WIFI worked, though quite slow, but still good enough for browsing. The shower head wasn't fully functional as it was spraying all directions.
It was a unique and amazing stay! We called number on door when we arrived, we assume it was the owner who let us in, we were the only guests so we were offered a better room! It was a once in a lifetime chance, felt like our own private villa built into a mountain side! We were given the key to the front door to lock up when we left to browse Cuenca. I would stay there again and would tell others to stay there as well!
very nice room, very quiet ..
The room had spectacular view over the gorge. It was very comfortable and pleasant. The terrace is a real bonus. The young woman that cleaned our room was pleasant and helpful. Price via this website very much better than those advertised on their wall. Not impressed at the booking in and out procedures, given the price paid. There was nobody there when we arrived at 5 to 7 but we eventually were able to enrol assistance from a hotel up the street, to call the number on the door. It took about 25 minutes for a young woman and child to appear (having said 15!). No eye contact, demand for passport, rather than request, no concern to achieve warm customer interface. We And when we wanted to depart, both we and a Spanish couple had to telephone to get her to come and take our money, even though we were well within the time that the reception is advertised as accessible. Would recommend only with these serious criticisms in mind. The shower head holder was broken (as are most in Spain, it seems
