Pros: this is as good as a hostel gets, i suppose. lovely rooms, incredible kitchen & living room... terrific location, lovely view... juan is a great host, but of course he can't do much about drunken guys who fall on your bed in the middle of the night and then crack up for a half hour :(

Pros: Everything about Hostel Covent Garden was perfect. The owner, Juan, has walked 17 caminos and knows exactly what a pilgrim or anyone travelling needs - he gave us a wonderful welcome and his kindness and generosity to us was exceptional. Hostel Covent Garden is brilliantly located, opposite the famous Gaudi building, Casa Botnes. The old town and Cathedral are just a minute’s walk away. Our room was lovely, as were the bathrooms, the kitchen and sitting rooms. There isn’t a better or more comfortable place to stay in Leon.
Cons: Nothing - everything was perfect.

Pros: Absolutely perfect in every way! Glamorous, well-appointed room, with a lovely breakfast in the fridge and in the bread basket. Even the dishes were pretty! We had excellent directions by text in English from our host. And the location in León could not be better. Purple Dog us on a lively, main pedestrian street just 1-1/2 blocks from the cathedral, which amazed me. The windows are gobsmacking, and the audio tour very informative.
Cons: Only one little thing could be improved: directions to the parking lot. It is just outside the entrance to the pedestrian-only old town, indicated by a big blue “P” sign.

Pros: I loved all the extras. Someone has created this amazing space with so much detail and love. We had two nights here and it was like paradise. We had a balcony and both nights were serenaded with music on the street below. We even had fresh flowers on our table on the balcony. Breakfast was provided and we really appreciated the whole stay. Thank you

Pros: Ana and Felix are the most incredible hosts! Exceedingly kind, welcoming, helpful and just incredible human beings. They have the hotel for 6 years and so much heart and soul goes into it. It is truly an oasis in the camino. Very clean, comfortable, and exceptionally relaxing. The food is also absolutely superb! Loved every moment here, especially getting to know Ana & Felix. Pros: Warm hosts willing to spend time with customers and share information on any subject in question. Anna and Felix are perfect hosts and great cooks. We enjoyed the house, the room, the view, the dinner, and interesting conversations. Anna drove us back to the Camino (free pick up and drop off for pilgrims). Room and bathroom are compact, but sufficient. Well appointed dining room and shared living area. Nice patio (we did not have a chance to use it - it was raining). Thank you!
Cons: The only things I would change would be addition of a mat inside the bathtub (too slippery). Also something preventing water from going on the floor as we showered - current curtains work somewhat, but not fully.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Ana is a lovely person and a wonderful hostess. She picked me up in Mansilla de las Mulas and returned me and my husband (who had just arrived to join me) the next morning. She served me a very nice dinner. Her house was an oasis of calm and a welcome respite after 19 days of walking the Camino.
Cons: Nothing!

Cons: There wasn’t a bar or restaurant, there is no safe or minibar in the rooms and we had to buy water from a vending machine. The breakfast was very average. We did however have a lovely meal with a set menu and live music on the patio while we were there

Pros: Beautiful and historic building
6.8 Good
Pros: The location is excellent, room was clean & staff at the reception was very nice & helpful. Parking nearby.
Cons: Unfortunately our room was quite noisy (traffic from the street & staff talking loudly on the corridor and moving furniture while cleaning adjacent rooms). After a long drive, we were looking forward to a good rest but we didn’t get it.

10.0 Excellent

Cons: Nothing
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Uniqueness, location
Cons: A bit hard to find when arriving by car. Google took through pedestrian zone blocked by restaurants. Alternate worked better and friendly passersby provided final help.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This 12th century monastery hotel is SUPERB in every way!! Starting with the staff, the beautiful room, the courtyard views from my room, the breakfast spread, and the extremely helpful staff who immediately sought to find information or possible solutions to my many questions and concerns!! I felt like royalty in this place
Cons: Honestly, there is nothing that I did not like. The location was perfect, in the center of everything and very close to many restaurants and main historical sites to visit.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Also had very nice dinner in the hotel restaurant
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful! We had an accident and they helped us in every way to minimise the consequences-they even offered to change our room which we gladly accepted. They gave us every possible sort of information! The breakfast was great and ample, the fresh fruit varied and delicious! We made use of the free parking facilities on the property-fantastic! In other locations we had to pay 20 or more euros per night. And all this within the compound of the incredibly beautiful San Isidoro Basilica, with no cars allowed, and dozens of cafés within walking distance where we sat outside until after midnight.Would go there again any time. A great place to stay even up to a week. Thanks everyone!
Cons: Our room was a bit small, but that’s easily explained : all the rooms were previously monks’ cells. Nothing else.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The outside of the hotel is like a Parador as are the public spaces filled with antique furniture etc but the rooms are very light modern and spacious, we loved this combination. Large bedroom, very comfortable bed and quite aircon, nice bathroom all v clean. Incredible value for money when compared with the Paradors. Very quite location. Location is great for city centre but right next door to the San Isidore Church and museum, the hotel arranged a tour in English for only E6. The royal chapel with frescos is amazing and we were able to see a cup which may be the Holy Grail, sadly much of the museum is closed for about 18 months for renovations. Loved the city, really pleasant atmosphere and so much to see, will definitely go back when the museum full reopens and will stay at this hotel.
Cons: Nothing -loved the hotel and Leon, may even go back before the museum reopens, then when it does!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing hotel, full of history with lots of character. Very tastefully converted to a beautiful hotel

Leonhostel - León - Building

9.0 Excellent (609 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at LeonHostel in Leon (Leon City Centre), you'll be steps from Egyptian Museum and 3 minutes by foot from Leon Cathedral. Featured amenities include a computer station, laundry facilities, and an elevator (lift).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location on the Camino/ pedestrian zone, just a few meters before the cathedral! Exactly where you want to be. Amazing views from the balconies, elevator. Very clean and spacious, sheets and bedding, kitchen, lounge. Friendly hospitalera.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I can't believe that such a superb place in a perfect location was such a good price. The manager, Encina, was friendly and efficient and kept the place spotless
Cons: I appreciate the limitations of the building but the lift was very small.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best hostel ever. Friendly staff, clean bedroom and shower room. Kitchen has everything I need.
Cons: Wifi connection could be better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were gracious and helpful. The place is clean. The Cathedral of Leon is around the corner. It was everything I needed.
Cons: Everything was great. There were no negatives except for one of the other guests who was a little grumpy.
7.0 Good
Pros: Fully equipped kitchen. Central Location. Common room had a nice sitting area and small balcony to look down onto the main street.
Cons: Bed bugs. Room 2. Unfortunately dealing with about 50 bites at the moment. I did kill one at 2am inside my partners pillow, but alas, I was dinner that night to others unseen. To compound matters, there is no air con, so it's hot in the room with the window closed. And you need to keep the window closed for a little bit of noise relief. The price you pay for a good central location is restaurants dragging tables and chairs at ungodly hours, rubbish collection at about 2am, and early set up of the businesses next door for the following day. Glad I was there only 1 night. Furthermore, the walls are paper thin, so you hear everything from neighbouring rooms.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Super organized staff, they send you email in advance with instructions for your arrival, Anna the host was lovely, everything was very clean and new. They have a beatiful small terraza, great of an afternoon beer.
Cons: The room has a lot of noise from the street because was Saturday, and they are super well located at the middle of the main important bars of Leon. Bring a good earplug ;-)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The facilities, especially the showers, toilets etc. were excellent - very impressed!
Cons: Nothing to dislike.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent property located less than 100 meters from the Cathedral . Classy, simple and just what was required. Wonderful location for tourists and Camino pilgrims alike.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about Leon Hostel was great for us! We had a private room with a double bed. The room was bright and cheery and the bed comfortable. The bathroom was shared, clean, and towels provided. Made our small dinner in the kitchen and ate in the sunny shared living area with a beautiful view. The location was close to everything!
Cons: It was a bit difficult to find the first time, but once we found it all was well!
7.5 Good
Pros: Friendly and easy accessed
Cons: Maybe more comfort in the lounge area

Cons: The bed was small and the room was quite hot at night. Our room was on the top floor so only had a velux window which let in too much light if opened.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: location
Cons: canniot think of anything
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I loved this hotel!! It was exactly what I needed as a tired pilgrim taking a rest day. The staff were all very friendly and super helpful, the room was clean and quiet, the breakfast was great, and the location was perfect right next to the cathedral but on a quiet street. They even had laundry service, 7 Euros for an entire load (wash and dry), which was a huge bonus because not many hotels have affordable laundry service, if any at all.
Cons: Linens could have been a little cleaner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A spacious, clean room. The hostal is incredibly well situated - a minute from the cathedral but down a quiet road.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect for a short visit as all the main attractions are in short walking distance. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast was better than I expected for this price. An access to a commune kitchen and a sitting area was also good.
Cons: As a comment - I was travelling with a car and I should have checked the best way to access the hotel and the nearby parking before arriving into the town. The hotel is located on pedestrian street but there is a very good parking area nearby.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was ideal — staff were very professional and warm. I would definitely book with Alda again.
Cons: I loved it all.

Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hostel is so close to the Cathedral!! It is also really close to restaurants and shops, with most things within 100m. The beds in this hostel are comfortable, and have privacy curtains with personal chargers and a little nook for anything you want with you while you sleep. Big locker space too. The setout of the common area is nice too, with a relaxed vibe.
Cons: The washing and drying service was 9€ and didn't fully wash our clothes and wasn't delivered back to us. For 9€ a little more was expected but overall the hostel is great.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Love the bunk beds with the curtains!!
Cons: There was no staff in the hostel, if you needed sth you have to go to the hostel across the street- also no breakfast unlike advertised

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beds were nice, big social area. Kitchen well equipped, but small. Towell and bedshits were provided
Cons: There was no reception in the hostel, none there to answer questions or explain anything. This make it a bit cold, although the facilities were nice. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: In terms of value for money/location/facilities this is by far the best hostel I have stayed during my camino. In the doorsteps of the cathedral and all of Leon's bars and restaurants, each bunk bed has got a curtain for privacy, light, shelf, locker, drawer, clean bed linen, towels plus spacious social area to hang out/eat/prepare food. Everything is modern and spotless. I'd definitely stay again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Love love love the pod design! The privacy curtains, cubbies, lights, and plugs at each bed are perfect, with two lockers per person!
7.5 Good
Pros: Location to all sites. Beds were comfortable. Commun areas were great.
Cons: The bathroom was mouldy and the aircon did not work in Room 5. Thus the room was a constant 24 degrees and extremely stuffy.

6.3 Good
Pros: Clean, good wifi
Cons: When you book online it isn’t written how many people in the dorm you took so you ended up with a dorm of 36 people, hard to sleep.. the checkout was at 10h and at 8h30 the owner was already cleaning the room and making a lot of noises... i’ve never seen that
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Clean new facilities Good ratio bathroom to beds Helpful staff Close to great supermarket
Cons: Still a good walk into central Leon

Pros: The staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. As a pilgrim after a long day of walking, it was a pleasant and modern hostel with good laundry and bathroom facilities, and a small modern kitchen.
Cons: Right at the beginning of leon (if walking the camino) so not very close to the old town or cathedral.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very attentive. The facilities are clean and well cared for. Quiet. Large supermarkets and a few restaurants are nearby. Great for rest.
Cons: The location was on the edge of Leòn; a 20+ minute walk to the inner core
9.3 Excellent
Pros: There are plenty of bathrooms for the guests. I never once had to wait in line. Great washing facilities and boot room. I also enjoyed the comfy lounge and cooking area, big couches, plenty of power points - good spaces for chilling out or cooking. Everything is white and chrome - clean and fresh. Plenty of plates and glasses etc. I would have loved some tea bags though!
Cons: It was a bit of a walk to the central city, however there is a half hourly bus close by.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Clean, well equipped and modern. Virtually all the small things that make a good albergue were incorporated.
Cons: A bit far (20 min walk) from the city centre.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Alfonso, the host, was very accommodating and helpful. It was clean, light, modern. The dorm bunk beds were extra long with plenty of head room. There was a great market about 500km away.

Pros: Very central location and helpful staff.
Cons: We stayed on a Saturday night. Because it IS centrally located a lot of noise from outside filtered through and unfortunately we had a very noisy crowd above our room. We didn't sleep at all which did'nt suit because we were starting our Camino walk at 6.00am next morming.

Pros: Staff was nice, location great. Good breakfast, and to-go bkfst if you left before 9AM Washer & dryer available
Cons: I was sure that I booked this as a double room, instead it was charged and sold as a quad. We paid $420 US for 3 nights and the room had 2 bunk beds and a small table between, nothing else.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very friendly and helpful. We had to make a last minute reservation and she gladly assisted. The room was comfortable and the heater perfect.

4.3 Okay
Cons: seeing the lady clean the rooms smoking on the job. no wifi and a stupid excuse was that we had iphones. no aircon and had to use a fan which was ineffective as it was inappropriate. the hostel is situated on a national road so trucks and cars could be heard all night. awful place- and we are not fussy people at all

Cons: They need a kettle in the kitchen and to improve wifi
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, staff friendly and super helpful.
Cons: Far away from city center. No restaurant open nearby, however bar next door served tapas.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and well maintained. Helpful owner/manager gave us good information. Easy to find, free street parking and less than 10 minutes drive to the old town. Room was good size with comfortable beds and quiet.
Cons: Not much..had to wait until owner arrived to let us in but think we had been given wrong number.
6.8 Good
Pros: Friendly owner. No problem parking outside. Shared kitchen and microwave. Owner left milk, cakes and instant coffee in kitchen for breakfast.
Cons: The room was far too hot. The radiators do not have thermostats and all were full on. As the hotel is on a busy main road you can't have the window open because of the noise. We didn't get much sleep. We would have rated this hotel much higher if had not been so hot. The location isn't great but at least you are out of the parking chaos of Leon.

Cons: Little to do in Mansilla Mayor but that was actually fine as I was tired from walking the Camino.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner was so welcoming, friendly and helpful. We were tired and hungry after our hike and he brought us tea and cake and cooked a lovely healthy dinner for us. He drove us to mass in the next town and came and collected us afterwards. We had a nice breakfast in the morning.
Cons: Everything was closed in Mansilla Mayor as they were changing the electricity.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Joaco and his wife were extremely welcoming. The house was lovely and they cooked us a wonderful dinner. Very attentive hosts. The host spoke English and French which is very helpful.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and comfortable. Very accommodating owner. Excellent homemade dinner. Very quiet. We ordered wine on arrival after a king Camino walk and the owner delivered it to the guest lounge with a bowl of complimentary chips. We had pre-booked a massage and the owner kindly allowed her to set up in a downstairs room.
Cons: Would have liked maybe fresh fruit / yoghurt/cereal / egg option for breakfast and would happily have paid a bit extra for it as we are breaded our. However - the homemade cake was delicious.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Owner was incredibly helpful and polite, lovely breakfast.
Cons: Little out of town for sore feet.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful home cooked meal! I wondered if the guest house might be off the Camino but it isn’t - just a slight deviation which isn’t longer. Definitely would recommend.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: I like the large rooms the fact you can make your own meals & they have a great breakfast. The staff are lovely
Cons: The fact that laundry pickup isn't until 9am. This means that laundry is not collected on the day of arrival. I was also told that it wasn't guaranteed to be back the same day. So laundry isn't really available unless you have a minimum 3 night stay. Laundry pickup should be possible by 6pm & delivery guaranteed for the next morning even if this were at a greater cost. It meant I had to do my own laundry in a laundrette nearby and I specifically chose the hotel because I'd been here before & they show they have laundry facilities.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff kindness
Cons: Noise coming from above apartments
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Welcoming and friendly staff
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel was very clean. Our room had a large bathtub. The staff were wonderful. Breakfast buffet was great.
Cons: It was a long walk to the old city center. Around 20 minutes. The room had no insulation. I could hear EVERYTHING. From above to our next door neighbors. All hours of the night. Furniture moving, a loud raucous party down the hall at 4am. Foot steps. The kitchen had nothing in it as it had advertised.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Helpful staff. Especially Sheila. Spoke English well and helped me find local services.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was very spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The most important thing, however, was the cleanliness of both the room and the beds as well as the bathroom.
Cons: We did not like the area that the hotel is located. It is not close to bars and restaurants.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: good facilities, clean and comfortable
Cons: Location , quite a way out of town.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Just stayed one night as a stop off on the way home from a visit to the Picos de Europa. Really nice hotel, has private parking but just parked bike outside main door. Staff all friendly and guy on reception really helpful. Reasonably near to centre with bars and restaurants nearby. Breakfast was really good with a good selection. If I return to Leon wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
Cons: The weather, poured down when I was out n about.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous breakfast and excellent helpful information and tips from Luis Costa made our stay in Leon especially good. All facilities in the room to self cater if you wished to and a really spacious room and bathroom.
Cons: The hotel was a little further from the town centre than we would have liked but Luis did advise of a couple of local bus options that enabled us to get into the city centre quickly and inexpensively. We had to ask at reception for our self catering cutlery, crockery, glassware etc which we felt was odd as it advised as self catering and we would have expected the items to be in the room not delivered after we asked for them.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming let us in at 9 in the morning. Had the best breakfast l’v had on the Camino so fresh lots of variety.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel just steps away from the cathedral. The room was large with plenty of room to spread out, and was lined with floor to ceiling windows so we could full take in the view. Our room included two balconies and a solarium-perfect for enjoying a book or drink at the beginning and end of the day.
Cons: One thing to be aware of is that the shower is very small (typical corner shower for budget European hotels). Not a huge deal but can make shaving awkward.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This place was in an excellent location, close to many sites in León, and close to the Camino. Staff was kind and knowledgeable. Breakfast was good.
Cons: You could tell this place was once grand but some of the luster has rubbed off. It could be great again. The room felt a bit dated.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was very good, people were friendly, room was okay.
Cons: A bit noisy, due to the traffic

Pros: Very friendly and efficient staff who spoke excellent English. Exceptionally clean and great location
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff was great. Lorena at the front desk is very friendly and great service. Loved the restaurant for breakfast!
Cons: I am usually ok with firm beds, but my bed was firmer than firm. Was hard.
7.5 Good
Pros: Lovation
Cons: They advertise having a pool. But it is an extra €15 to use it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is probably the best in the city. Superb view on the cathedral. The garage is very close. Very good restaurant Pablo (one-star Michelin) is located next door. Small spa centre located in the hotel, though is basic, but good. Friendly staff.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Clean and comfortable room. Good value for money, with super little cafe for breakfast and drinks. Large public car park just a short walk away.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A great location, just near the Cathedral. A free parking just behind the hotel. great room, great stuff, great city.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It is hard to beat the location of this hotel. Overlooking the gorgeous Leon Cathedral it is also close to the heart of the city with numerous bars and restaurants nearby. We had a superb room which allowed us to gaze at the floodlit cathedral from our bedroom. We loved our stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Secure garage for motorcycles
Cons: Great location though a little difficult to find on a motorcycle. Very friendly staff who spoke good English. Fantastic city, lovely atmosphere with bars and restaurants about 5 to 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Highly recommended.
7.7 Good
Pros: The very good location near castle, nice room.
Cons: The problem is to find right way to the hotel(our GPS was not good with it). My advice: to ask hotel to send you map with directions and explanation
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, safe, centrally located.
7.3 Good
Pros: stylish, clean rooms, friendly staff, perfectly located, best value for money; my favourite in the area!
7.7 Good
Pros: Great for a city break. I had a comfortable attic room with a view of the cathedral and button by the bed which you can press to open and close the window/blind. I also made use of the spa which was a real bonus after a strenuous day and worth the $10, Hotel very well located in the centre of Leon with several eating options nearby. The breakfast was as good as any served in a cafeteria in Spain, and excellent value at $3; I had freshly squeezed orange juice, cafe con leche and toasted croissant (croissant plancha) with marmalade. What more could you possibly want?
6.7 Good
Pros: Location is superb - very near the Cathedral, and San Isidoro is only a short distance away. Everything in the historic city centre (including many good bars and restaurants) is within easy reach, but the area immediately around the hotel is just off the main routes and is surprisingly quiet. Rooms are small but well-planned, and are furnished in a modern idiom. The very reasonable prices represent good value for money. Continental breakfast in the bar at 3 euros each is pretty good.
Cons: Nothing we disliked.
7.3 Good
Pros: A good place to stay, near the cathedral. Our floor (4th, I think) had windows on the roof - affording us views of Leon Cathedral. Very romantic.
Cons: Can't drive up to the door with the luggage .... which was a bit of a drag. I think this needs to be stressed in the booking confirmation (block letters/italics).
