Beautiful building and goodlocation
An absolutely fabulous hotel in the heart of Avila, just opposite the cathedral. Great rooms, great reception staff, and a great rate. Car park is on-site with rates about average for a Spanish city.
This was a beautifully restored building with character, style and elegance. The staff were friendly and efficient. The aircon was broken and so only blew out hot air into our room. Our room was opposite the cathedral clock tower, which seemed lovely until it chimed every half hour all night!
The hotel was beautifully presented, and the room was large enough for an extra bed and a baby cot. The buffet breakfast was good value for money. The hotel has it's own garage for parking (at a cost). We thought it definitely deserved it's 4 star rating The room was too warm and was not easy to ventilate - the only option was to leave the window open but there was too much noise outside (including a garbage truck in the early hours of the morning). It was not easy to find the hotel as the town is a rabbit warren of one way streets and the only road to the hotel had been blocked off by the local police.
very good location, friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and comfortable rooms.
Location, nice amenities. The staff can be more friendlier & understanding.
It was an outstanding hotel, well located, easy parking and WiFi access in the room
Perfect location right in the middle of the old city. Wonderful old Palace sympathetically converted to an excellent modern hotel. Great breakfast.
Excellent high standards, historic room and helpful staff nothing everything was excellent
it was very well situated
marvellous space and grand furnishings no
Staff was friendly, location excellent The hotel is dated. The furniture is from the 80s, the whole room is not even a 1 star hotel
The situation of the hotel, inside the old walls, and close to cafe's and resturantes. The old hotel was beautiful. No
The central location, the size of the rooms and the facilities within the hotel were all excellent We had a special reduced rate, so I would not complain, but had I paid the full rate I would have complained about the plumbing which was incredibly noisy. It sounded like a pneumatic drill when turning the taps on full.
The fact that it was a palace, in the centre of ther old town & very reasonably priced. Nothing
Great location. 4 adults where comfortable in a 3 person room. Clean. Large bathroom. Air conditioning did not get the room cool, so room was stuffy.
Excellent hotel, the best location.
Water in the room, had to change room to a room for single person
Very nice and valuable hotel.
Central location No bar available and lateness of serving dinner
Ease of access by car coupled with the ease of getting into Avila old town on the local bus for 75 cents. Restaurant good for breakfast but a decent restaurant for dinner would be a bonus.
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were incredibly nice for the price that we paid, and there was lots of space to move around in; although it was a double room fit for 3, it didn't feel crowded at all.
Comfortable spacious rooms, each one with a separate living/sleeping area. Local bus service to Avila was very reliable. Hotel did not have a pool which would have been a great bonus. Poor restaurant facilities on site.
secure parking was included in the price
The hotel was siutated very well for the motorways etc and would be an excllent base for a business person and their conferences etc, however, for a tourist it is not so good No bar ??!!
Excellent facilities, very clean neat rooms. Easy to find and available parking, very friendly staff A short drive away from the old town... requires a vehicle to get around.
Room was good value for money, hotel has easy access if touring northern Spain by car (not so good if visiting Avila only). Would not be convenient for anyone intending to visit the centre of Avila for a short break without a car. Slightly unpleasant smell from the drains!
The Hotel was very good and the location was fine, just outside Avila. The staff on the reception was not very nice. Also, everyone had to show IDs and sign papers, I think it was too much.
friendly and helpful staff; good underground parking facilities; bus conveniently nearby for trips to and from the city; location of a shopping centre and a petrol station
lovely menu for diner incl. wine in the price of it the staff is poor in speaking English
A historic clean City. Can be a convenient base to see the whole area People at the hotel are doing their best to stasfied their guests
The hotel is inside the city wall. Excellent location for making a city tour. The room was larger than a typical hotel room in Spain. We did not use the hotel restaurant. We like the hotem and would like to recommend it to everybody.
The staff was very friendly, and the rooms, although plain, were extremely large and clean. As a very small point, the TV had only local chanels, so there were no English programs/international news.
I read some of the previous negative comments, and found none of them to be true, my GPS brang me directly to a square 50 m away opposite from the hotel, where I could easily park the car as well and the air-condition was strong. In general, I am not a fan of “traditional” - old dusty hotels, often loaded with a lot of stars, which needed refurbishment long time ago. Therefore I was even more positively surprised to find a very modern, lately renovated hotel, with new furniture, brand-new bathrooms. For me by far the best choice in Avila. The only point I need to give away is, that the rooms are not very spacey, if you are traveling with a baby or with a lot a suitcases, that can be a problem. And from the corridor it can be a bit noisy.
The front desk staff at Hotel Las Moradas are very helpful, cheerful, friendly and very pleasant to deal with. The fact that it is in a walking street that does not allow vehicle entry, is something to be communicated to the guests beforehand. However, this was more than made up by the friendly and kind reception staff.
Everything including Avila, staff were fantastic, majority spoke english (if not still tried to communicate), room was great, thoroughly enjoyed the balcony and the location was perfect.
Location was excellent, convenient to the sights of the historic town, and the rooms were quiet, clean, and well-equipped. No
Excellent value for money in a gret location within the heart of the old town
Hotel has a good location just inside the city walls. There is a public car park just outside the nearest gate and the hotel is a 3 minute walk.
Location is next to Cathedral and not too far from Basilica or other attraction inside the wall area, so good that there is a safebox inside the room. could not find anything
The hotel is very nice looking and the staff is really nice and helpful There is no special price for the Spa if you stay in the hotel, and it is a bit expensive for what it is. In addition, there is a sauna for female and another one for male, which is annoying if you go there with your husband
One can not think of a better place when planning to go to Ávila. The Parador is located right into the City Walls, parking is a breeze if you are driving and it has classical "paradores quality". Don't even bother looking for a cheaper hotel, this place is the best value for your money. Rooms have lots of space, plus all modern amenities. A must!
Very convenient to the old city and all its charms. Has a wonderful sense of history, with a great garden and atmospheric public spaces. The room was serviceable, but nothing special.
The location and the ambience. They did not accept American Express Traveller Cheques (!!!). Had we not had cash and Credit Cards we would have been in trouble.
Location near the wall was a good place to explore Avila One of our lampstand lights was not working. It took 3 calls to get someone to rectify the problem. The room was warn and the air-conditioning was not working. We ordered the 80th anniversary dinner selection but the food served was nowhere near as good as the Parador de Vic we stayed at in Jun 09.. .
Comfort, lounge area and background music, food, pleasant staff Initially placed in a 'smoking room' though had requested when booking for a non smokers room.Staff immediately changed the room and all was well.
within the city wall and a converted palace usual parador standards none
Location inside the city walls allowing excellent opportunities to explore on foot and sample the local services. Difficult to raise a smile, but that's typical of hotel staff in main land Spain.
Position good for visting town walls and close to main attractions. Also easy to access by car as beside one of main town gates. Pleasant hotel with beautiful gardens. Our room over looked noisy cobbled street and cars contantly rumbled by all through the night coming away from late bars and clubs which tended to keep us awake. So if booking request a room on the quieter side of the hotel
Checkin was already possible by 11'00 A.M. Free parking space in front of the hotel avbl.
It was very conveniently located for all sights in Avila. The hotel staff were very helpful.
The hotel is situated in the very center of the city and the view from the room is really magnificent: you are admiring the famous fortress wall. Also it is located two steps from the main Cathedral and other sightseeing places of the city. Wi-Fi did not work although it was said that I do not need any key or password to enter the network
Very good ,clean and comfortable wiyh a good breakfast. Better than most hostals that I have stayed in.
Excellent location, helpful staff, good breakfast
Excellent location immediately adjacent to the ancient walls surrounding the old city. Also just by the cathedral and the access point to the walk along the walls. The hotel itself is just a very basic budget hotel, but is acceptable for a short stay. Rooms at the front suffer from street noise. Our party occupied two rooms, in one them the shower cubicle was not of acceptable size, the other was OK.
Excellent clean and comfortable room with a great view. Central location with easy access. Helpful staff who took care to provide a secure area for our bicycles overnight.
verry relevant location for tourists and in 15-20 min by foot to the bus or train station. Nothing to complain about. The breakfast was also abundant and varied.
I was in a Congress
the staff were kind and most welcoming and made us feel welcome location is marvellous and excitng to stay food at restuarant not too good
Unbeatable location, as you open window you enjoy view of city walls. Clean, very spatious room, free wifi. Hostal includes affordable, but very good resaturant, so we really didn't need to search for other resaturants. Somewhat modest breakfast, no AC.
Helpful staff, convenient for old town, excellent breakfast but a bit over priced.Parking a five minute walk to an underground park, expensive but very secure.
Easy to find, good central location and comfortable room
Staff very welcoming and helpful. Room a bit dated, but very well equipped and spacious. Clean. Breakfast buffet was an excellent selection. Good location being walkable into the centre, but far enough out to have car parking and to be easy to find by car. Also close to station. Great value for money. We had a lovely stay and would book again. A few minor things - water was a very strange colour, window wouldn't stay open and room was very warm. The undergound car park is tiny and very difficult to manoeuvre into spaces. This wasn't too much of a problem as there were not many guests with cars when we stayed, but might be an issue in high season.
We all had a very pleasent stay I thought that all the staff on the reception desk should have been able to speak English. Parking should have been free thought that was expensive.
We liked this hotel for its proximity to the train station. We also like the way the hotel is decorated - antique furniture creating an ambiance of royalty, representative of the Kingdom. Very well done. Staff are very helpful. Hotel room is very clean. Unfortunately, we didn't have the time to try their breakfast which I'm sure will be great as well. Nothing at all.
Well sign posted so easy to find. A lovely hotel delightfully decorated and within walking distance of Avila's attractions.
The location is fine, it takes about 20 minutes walk to the historical center. There is traffic in the street, but it was rather quiet in the night. The room was nice and spacious. The hotel has its own garage. Some of the staff did not speak English. There is no own restaurant, only a bar. This bar offered small meals but unfortunately was full of smoke.
The room and the bathroom were clean and spatious enough. The staff on duty was nice and polite. Hotel is in an industrial area, far from the historic city,it was noisy due to the traffic (mainly of lorries) in the morning. The air condition was out of order, and as we were very tired, we didn't have the patience to deal with it for any longer, and that greatly reduced our comfort. The reception looks like a kind of desk in corner of a motorway restaurant and is not a good entrance to the hotel.
Not much to like. Very hard to find and in the middle of an industrial estate. Advert says 10 min walk from City walls but in fact 30 min and not a good area to walk As above
Hotel really fine, very good, new, but quite far from city center. We were with car, so we have no problems. To reach hotel without a car quite difficult, I wouldn't try to walk in night time in this commercial/industrial district. Very strange, that breakfast was in hall, but for coffee you should ask at reception.
Breakfast was very reasonable... We don't advise nobody to accept a room on the ground floor. The hotel is mainly frequented by truck drivers that pass all evening at the bar drinking beer and talking loud so, if you are in the ground floor forget to sleep or rest before midnight. In the morning, the same people take breakfast between 7am and 7.30am, before leaving and, again the noise is too much and you won't be able to keep sleeping. Really, this was not a good experience...
The staff made us feel welcome as soon as we walked trough the door, and where very helpful with directions to the various sites in avila None
Staff were friendly and helpful, despite limited English. Room was basic but functional. Restaurant seemed to be popular with locals. Location was in industrial area. Building is industrial in appearance. Breakfast very basic. Not a vacation hotel.
Basic nice hotel, reasonable price. Couple of minutes to city centre. Plantiful enough breakfast for such a low room price.
room and acomodation
New building. Clean rooms. Nice view on the town:) Free parking. A bit far from the centre of the town, 30 minutes by foot. Air conditioning was out of order.
The simple architectural solutions, the available space in the room, the garage and easy access to it.
the location to the city
Friendly staff and great location. I didn´t like the noise which meant I couldn´t sleep.
The character and charm of the place. The friendliness of the concierge and easy going manners. Although I was able to request an hairdryer from the concierge, one installed in each room would be preferable. Also the wireless internet was not working.
the proximity of the hotel to the city sites
Room was clean and quite, even though it was small/ Very difficult to find. Could not locate even via GPS. Neiter hotel or street address. Staff could not or did not want to speak English. This is my problem, but they could have been more helpfull if they want English speaking tourists.
Very friendly stafff. Parking facilities at less then 300 m from hotel. Spacious and modern rooms with all comfort. Breakfast buffet is all right and early breakfast is possible by simple notice.
It was a lovely little hotel in a renovated building right next to the wall in Avila. The room was a nice mixture of old stone walls and sleek modern features Internet did not work at all and the front desk seemed unconcerned. They indicated that the problem was just with my computer but I found out later that no one could get a connection. Things like that happen, but I would have appreciated the truth. It would have saved me hours of trying. The welcome brochure says that this is the 'sixth best hotel in Spain' based on ratings for value. The space lived up to that rating but the staff did not.
1. Location -- it was a great thrill to look directly onto the walls of Avila on one side, and into the open countryside on the other. Accessibility for visits to the city was excellent. 2. The building - lovely to be in an old building most tastefully restored. The bedroom was particularly beautiful. 3. Staff - the concierge and restaurant and bar were all most friendly and helpful in meeting our requests. Our only criticisms were lack of ventilation in the bathroom which, despite the fact that the hotel has only recently opened, gave the bathroom and bedroom a slightly damp smell. Also, it's not in a convenient place for vehicle access, but who cares, we were not driving.
The Hotel was the best value place I have stayed at in my three weeks in Spain. The staff were very welcoming, the room was very comfortable with good shower, air conditioning and TV, the location was fantastic, just outside the city wall accessed through the restaurant (note though only when it is open - so check the hours). The bar staff were very friendly and made a solo traveller very welcome. Having to leave
The room itself was pleasant. Everything was relatively new and in excellent condition. We thought the hotel grounds were more generous. In fact, our hotel room looked directly at an apartment complex. The breakfast was very limited and most items were pre-packaged. The pool was not full during our stay in September although the weather was very warm.
very comfortable clean room modern design pleanty of parking east reach of city and easy to find did not like toilet doors not closing tight no privacy
Convenient to get onto the motorway system. OK for a basic overnight stop if the price was cheaper. Hotel is on a busy road adjacent to a petrol station. Restaurant facilities were minimal due to wedding being held. Along walk to Avila and hilly. A/C not very efficient
Hotel was located outside the walls of Avila but a few minutes drive to all the convents and churches. Located almost across the street from the 4 post monument. Staff friendly and helpful. Restaurant was pricey for a mediocre meal.
Good location, easy to find. Good view of city Free parking was limited, secure parking was expensive
Great view of the Avila walls. There is work going on on the hotel (but I heard no noise). Laundry service was real good and fast.
Location and view Air-conditioning was ineffectual and our room became uncomfortably hot
Shower was wonderful, and probably the best feature. Older folks, as we are, we were glad that I didn't have to cllimb over the edge of a tub, risk my neck trying not to slip, and not wet the floor around the glass half door that other hotels have. The Spanish type pillows that run the width of the bed. Would prefer the individual pillos that one finds in the USA
Too far and not easy access to downtown
The pillows were the worst and flat pillows i ever dreamed with
The hotel offers a nice view of Avila. The personal tried the best even if the hotel is being renovated now. There is an internet point for customers. The rooms were large enough to feel comfortable. Due to the fact that they are renovating, there are no rooms to sit down and have a coffee or a beer, have a chat or just relax. There is a petrol station next to the hotel.
Modern hotel, close poximity to ancient town.
Everything the hotel and staff were excellent! No Parking
location rooms breakfast
It was very peacefull and location was good
comfortable clean rooms,good view
It's a beautiful hotel with lots of character and very comfortable. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Quiet. Well-appointed rooms with bath supplies.
Parking available! But only just.... Slightly out of centre
Excellent condition of hotel and rooms - clean, pleasant, friendly, helpful Would have liked wifi connection in the room
Very clean. Very closed to the center of the city. Typical hotel. We booked a doble bed room and we have a twin bed room.
The rooms were lovely, the location was excellent (close to everything and quiet) and all of it for a great price. We were thrilled to have this wonderful opportunity towards the end of our trip.
The staff was friendly, gave us information and event calendar, suggested places to eat and where to go. Location was great walking distance from the cathedral and the wall. It's very noisy, a cried non stop, didn't get much sleep.
In the city centre; cheap price the reccomended restaurant is not so good and ask reception for real conditions of the offer
Great location in the heart of the old town of Avila. Basic room, but clean, tidy & comfortable. Excellent value for money.
We were very impressed with the help we received from one of the staff who checked our onward route for us on the hotel computer.
staff very helpfull
The hotel is easy accessable by car and on walking distance of old town, staff is friendly Beds are too small for north european people
There was no restaurant
The staff the heating system. Not easy to use
easy to find,5/10 mins. walk to inside the walls.
Basic 3 star hotel, not far from old town. Staff helpful.
Very good facilities. In 10 minutes walk you are in the old city of Avila Staff only speaking Spanish. But they was very helpful
comfort of the room, facilities underground parking was difficult to negotiate
Staff very pleasant, comfortable and clean room with attentive service. Breakfast varied, evening meal limited to snack but pleasant enough. Staff pointed out where parking was free and safe despite the hotel having a garage which could be charged for.
the location was great! the bed was not very comfortable and the room was a bit small
friendly staff noise in the nigth (other guests)
Small but comfortable rooms. Really clean, luxurious bathtowels. Staff was very helpful. This hotel was all we needed and is nicer than some 4 star hotels we have stayed at in the past. Location is incredible and easy to find.
Location of the hotel was easy to find. Carpets were badly stained
the restaurant is very expensive. we counted on that after reading reviews at this site and couldn't change. the price for the food is not justified.
The daily menu for 16,20 € including wine was excellent value for money. The Wi-Fi worked very well. Although we were the only guests and had booked a superior double room, we were first given a standard twin room. After asking for a double bed, we got the superior room. Everything else was ok.
Excellent hotel! Located conveniently near the best hiking and birding paths of Sierra de Gredos in a very small and quiet village. The owner couple shows the very reason why I recommend family-run hotels: such a warm and sincere atmosphere and customer service you won't ever get from bigger hotels. It felt like we were guests at their home. The husband even speaks English (rare in Spain). Nothing. Easily beats - in every aspact - the four-star hotel we went next.
