I liked the atmosphere , the service , the facilities , the food around the swimingpool , the weather , the spa , the fact that children can enter the warm pool at the spa , in short - heaven . The buffet dinner is too expensive and it does not make you feel that you get value for your money . the food is good the service is nice , but no one (adult or child) can eat that much . so you eat very little and you pay a lot of money and you feel that it was not the best idea to dine at the hotel dinning room
Relax, Relax, Relax.
POsition, space and views Too expensive for meals - very overpriced for dinner,
Fantastic area, in a lovely pine forrest, and so close to a great beach. Brilliantly landscaped with Greek flora. Great atmosphere for nature lovers, peaceful and relaxing. Bungalows have a feeling of being secluded in nature. Rooms are comfortable and with a lot of character. Restaurants are overpriced
Very nice location, amazing beach, helpfull & polite staff. We also dinned in which was very nice. Privacy was an issue since the ones that stayed next to us could pass by our balcony to access their room.
In my opinion the reason to stay for at least one night at Cape Sounio is the magnificent point - location. The night view of the ancient temple (illuminated) while you enjoy your drink or meal at the terrasse cannot be described, you have to feel it. I booked a room for two. We arrived with my little daughter and I was informed that the only available option for accomodating her in the same room was to change room. The rate difference was +60%, while I was expecting it to be in the range of +10% to 20%.
Hotel focilities were very good, as well as the location. Furthermore, the room was very nice and relaxing.
Great location. Great hotel. We also looked at Aegon Hotel, and Grecotel is a lot better. Great outdoor swimming pool area and beach area. The indoor swimming is a bit small though, it is more a spa than a swimming-pool. However, hotel prices for drinks and food are really expensive. There is good taverna a few kilometers down towards Lavrio. But not much in Sounio. Prices at the restaurants.
The location, splendid view on Posedion temple. The service was very poor for this type of hotel. It was impossible to change the room ( I agree to pay more). Prices at pool bar (30 Euros for a simple burger). Hunting season! hunter shoots at 50 meters from 7 AM to 6 PM and for the staff it is normal.
It's a Westin so it comes with a price. Awesome pool! Great breakfast. Good restaurants that are inexpensive just down the road if you have a car to drive. About one hour to Cape Sounio for the sunset. Easy access to the airport (lots of signs to lead the way.) Signage at entrance doesn't say Westin large enough so confusing on where it is exactly. Very expensive but if you want a night of guaranteed comfort on a long tour, this is the place to go.
The location is amazing, the view is stunning and the room is spacious. No complains at all. The prices of the hotel room, drinks and restaurant (I have tried the Japanese one) is really very high compared to other cities same category Hotels (specially during this crisis moment where everybody is trying to pull down the rates to incentivate the requests). Anyhow the quality is really top level.
The location and the spa premisses were great. Nicholas at the pool was very friendly and helpfull. The chef and the food at Nobu were just perfect
Secluded, exclusive, luxurious. Car parking and service not up to standards found in other similar luxury hotels.
The room was very nice with a beautiful view, proper facilities and nice bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful. The menu for lunch and dinner were relatively limited and did not have significant local flavor. It was not bad at all, but it was just barely enough for that sort of hotel and price.
perfect view excellent service carpets on the room need a real cleaning
I visit Athens several times per year both for business and to meet family and friends. The Westin Athens Astir Palace Beach Resort is an excellent hotel: relaxing, with beautifully designed and spacious rooms (all with magnificent sea views,) located at a reasonable distance from the town centre but avoiding the craziness of the Athenian centre.
Quaintness of the room. Cleanliness of the corridor, rooms aminties, a/c, tv chanels, and the gem.
Excellent service. Modern spacious rooms. Superb restaurant. Beautiful swimming pool & small sandy beach. All rooms have superb beach view. Expensive (even at low-season) but worth it.
Fantastic sea view from the room windows Receptionists attitude and service unacceptable. Also the quality of food ordered on the balcony restaurant unacceptable.
Nothing Staff attitude, misleading information, terrible meals,
Fabulous pool and facilities. The internet was only available at 4 Euros per hour - absolutely ridiculous. Internet access in 2010 is like water - its expected - and very few places charge for internet anymore and the cost at this hotel was very excessive. Bar drinks were also over priced. The food is OK but not great.
Beautiful views and excellent food. Both the breakfast buffet and the dinner buffet offered a wide choice of dishes.
The view from the room Arrived at 7 pm. No evening meal, I was offered a club sandwich which was covered in stale crisps and was itself inedible. Breakfast the nest morning was scheduled for 8:30 but did not materalise. I attempted a walk by the beach but was persued by a pack of stray dogs. It was all a bit run down and seedy. I had wanted to use the hotel as an slightly out of town cheaper alternative to airrport accommodation but the taxi fares there and back made this a waste if time
View was beautiful and easy access to their beach and pools Too far from city center (~1 hour) and there are no shuttles that would bring you there. You had to order a taxi each time.
Worst stay in a hotel for some time, Overpriced, arrogant reception, mediocrity rules throughout, Worth of 2 stars not 4 and certainly not good value, Go somewhere else is my summary Maintainence of hotel, Charge for use of indoor pool area, Tired bathrooms, Package holiday feel but high prices charged
it's an ok hotel for someone who wants to spend a week in a packed resort The reason we picked the hote was the location ("15 min from the airport") but in fact is far away from athens airport, from town taxis didn't want to take us there and the cost of the taxi was outarageous. Generally speaking not a place to stay for a single night on your way out of athens.
It is close to the airport is why we booked it, great sea view, in the height of summer it would be lovely. we did not like being told that it was winter and that at the resturant they had two choices for dinner, beef and chicken. we are vegetarians and had very limited food choice if any.
Clean. Nice staff This hotel IS NOT an "airport" hotel as I had thought. It was almost 30 minutes from the airport and it cost me $60 US by cab to get back to the airport. Also not really enough food facility available and in a rather isolated area where I had to walk 25 minutes at night to find a place to eat
The location (near to airport), the looks of the hotel, the sea shore, the staff, the food (especially the Italian Dinner), the beautiful view from our room Althogh high temperatures, the hotel did not operate the air condition! Their poor explanation was that some people like heating and some like cooling, so they didn`t turn on the air condition at the hotel at all! Never heard such a pretext. Unfortunatly, it was very hot in the room, so we had to open wide the balcony doors, but it was very noisy outside at the swimming pool until 2-3 a.m., and there were also bothering mosquitos. At short, we could not sleep that night! We think that for that sum of money we paid, we were entitled to get some air condition ( a thing we got in much more cheaper hotels).
This hotel turned out to be a Club Med, and once I understood that it was easier to deal with the staff. Generally the staff spoke French well; some spoke English fairly well. The location is not bad if you need to get to Athens airport quickly. It can be noisy as people are largely there to vacation. No online access in the rooms, but email access was available in the lobby. The place is a resort and tends to book large groups, so be aware of that if planning to eat in the restaurant. All meals are self-serve unless you order a sandwich at the bar.
