The views were nice and the room was very clean The room was ptetty tight... had to move a table to open the balcony
The location in front of the beach was amazing and the food in the restaurant was the best we ate in Santander. The bar staff were very slow getting our drinks (over 45mins to get 4 drinks also some of the guys on reception looked a bit unapproachable.
the views and the inter-connecting rooms some staff not especially friendly, but one was very helpful. There were no special facilities for children, more of a business hotel, but very comfortable.
I liked the services, cleanlines of the room and the the sea-view
position. easy to find.
We were upgraded to a seaview room no coffee facilities in room
Location Non Smoking not available & smoke heavily penetrated my room.
An excellant hotel overlooking the sea. The staff were helpful and friendly. No complaints at all
convenient for Ferry But far enough out of town to be able topark
The hotel was easy to reach from the airport and the parking was close by and free. At first, from the outside, the building doesn't look nice at all, however, the interior is ok, the room was very spacious and the bathroom clean and in good state. The breakfast is barely sufficient. It is served in a kind of bar. The tables are very low: they can be confortable for a chat and a cup of tea, not for breakfast.
3km from the airport, 7 km from city centre. Plenty of eating places and bars in close proximity, plus hotel serves meals. street parking plus quite a number of spaces in the church parking area - but difficult should there be a wedding in progress.
Arrived on Sunday so nothing happening but thats not the Hotels fault. Only meals available are Bar type meals and breakfast is Basic but ok. Only problem is the Dining are has smoking and is not smoke free which is a bit off putting when eating.
It was a lovely new spanish style hotel just in the middle of the town and on a 10 minute walk to the port. The bar at the back of the hotel had no aphmosphere and wouldn,t encourage you to spend time there.
The size of the room and the quietness It was bliss!
Service was awesome. Location for our plans suited us perfectly. Food at breakfast and dinner was of very good quality and tasty.
Being close enough to walk to the beach and being close to Santander. It was also in a quiet location and the staff were very polite. When we opened the window there was an unpleasant smell coming from outside. Although it was advertised as having satellite tv there were very few channels and none in English. The facilities in the room would not have been suitable for a longer term stay.
Position of room on busy road and disco/bar next door. No air conditioning and unable to open windows
Size of room, cleanliness N/A
Helpful and friendly staff. Easy parking Breakfast was barely edequate
Excellent for our stopover close to Santander Car park difficult and limited
excellent building / architecture, good staff, clean. large rooms. No Air-conditioning could easily be a big issue on hot days / evenings as the builidng is stone and seems to soak up the heat
Hotel of character with pleasant and helpful staff. The room was large and comfortable. Small TV
The room was clean, comfortable and very quiet. The breakfast was poor and difficult to get.
Helpful friendly staff Directions given were very poor and misleading. Address for the hotel was not complete on the website. Hotel very difficult to find.
Well appointed hotel None
The rooms had an overpowering damp smell. There did not appear to be any adequate fire alarms/escapes/escape procedures. The beds were appalling - the springs shot to pieces which led to an awful night's sleep.
The hotel is not far from the airport, is clean and modestly priced, only 30 Euros which included breakfast. The restaurant was convenient for dinner. I had two of my favorite treats of Spain, chorizo and croquettas de jamon Serrano. The wine was also very tasty. The proprietor took me up to my room when I arrived, gave me an early morning "wake-up" call the next day, and had a taxi there for me when I needed to go to the airport. The only difficulty with the hotel is that is might be hard to find for someone not familiar with its location.
Location was just perfect, on a hillside overlooking the beautifully preserved Santillana del Mar, and just a few miles from the scenic coastline and a series of lovely beaches. Taking this into account and the height of the season, we considered the bed & breakfast rate to be fair value for money. Not wishing to venture out in the rain, we eat 'in' on our second evening and although the menu was relatively limiting and the restaurant almost deserted, we were very pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the food served. The waiter/barman provided excellent service. Our room smelt a bit of damp - most probably due to poor ventilation in the bathroom, which itself needed a bit of updating. We would have asked for a move had we been there more than the 2 nights. Inspite of check out stated as from 7 am, there was no receptionist on duty before 9 am, so a number of guests like us were left hanging about, despite other staff were in evidence. We may have only been delayed 15 minutes or so but had we been aware, we would have made alternative arrangements the night before.
Great romantic place to spend some days! Surrounding of Town Santillana was impressing. Also the included breakfast and the free bike rental was a gret service!
good value great location
The place where it is located is lovely The room was not the same as in the picture. It wasn't bad but It hasn't window, only a skylight that you access by a kind of ladder
Nothing It was freezing cold when we asked if the heating was going to be turned on we were informed it would come on next week (November) we asked for a portable heater they didn't have any. Room was dirty and horrible. We were booked I. A Superior room. My advice avoid like the plague.
The hotel provided us with exactly what we wanted, inexpensive accommodation not too far from Santander. Comfortable and quiet. The uphill walk back from the village of Santillana could be a problem for some elderly people.
Staff friendly and helpful., and good breakfast for class of hotel.Hotel has nice poistion looking over the village and the countryside. Rooms were somewhat tired , and their was no air conditioning, this wasn't a problem in mid september, but could have been an issue in august and july
If you are lucky you have a room with a view which is nice, but that's the only positive I can think of. Rooms on the 2nd floor are dark and hardly have daylight. Poor quality of restaurant service, not very clean and rather small rooms, very poor breakfast. This is not a three star hotel; they have stolen their third star and should improve to keep two star. This is rather a guesthouse than a hotel.
Friendly hotel, free internet access, basic food
Parking was the deal breaker in our case. The breakfast was good, the staff knew English!
How helpful the staff was with maps and locating near by things for us. The location is great...right across the street from the bus station.
Proximity to ferryport and city centre, room facilities No
The hotel is central, and just opposite the international Brittany Ferry Terminal. Very clean hotel. Excellent English spoken by the staff. No tea and coffee making facilities in the room. This would have improved the facilities from good, to excellent
It's position for the city & the ferryport
Notably friendly, helpful reception. Very well located for transfer from ferries to train or bus. Our only negative criticism is that the coat hangers didn't work very well, but we survived.
Staff on arrival most helpful in accessing disabled parking for myself. Reception most pleasant and pointed out immediately where coffee etc was instantly available Cooked food at breakfast could have been hotter but nothing wrong with quality
Courtesy and friendliness of staff and willingness to try to speak English More detailed instructions to car parking would have been welcome - the one way system and the fact that the car park was underground led to some confusion.
it's really close to the bus station and made it convenient for me the bar was closed, and there are hardly any restaurant in a 500 m radius (at least I didn't find them!)
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Excellent staff, very helpful. Excellent room, clean, modern, quality fittings, very pleasing. A welcoming pot of tea on arrival on a stormy night. Complementary Cava and chocolates on arrival. Gift of cakes on departure. Dog friendly. We recomend this hotel. Nothing to dislike.
Hotel staff spoke very fluently French. Nice room, good breakfast. Hotel staff gave very good tips about things to visit in the environment. We got a bottle of cava when we arrived and cakes when we left.
Attentiveness of staff, Cleanliness of room, Breakfast Availability of local places to eat; there was only one
I loved the familyar atnosphere and the design and the quality of the rooms.
everything was great the family who run the hotel are more than helpful and the rooms are great and really clean the breakfast was above and beyond what you expect total value for money all round would recommend there was nothing that we did not like about this hotel
Superb apartments. Excellent facilities. Beautiful environment. Lovely family business.
A beautiful, small, historic hotel with very good staff in the centre of Santillana. We had no dislikes.
Easy access good safe parking English not spoken
Lovely location, luxury hotel, helpful staff, very interesting village, only stayed one night, but hope to go back next year. Because of the time of year, November, not many restaurants open in the village in the evening, the hotel itself didn't have a restaurant,. so would go back at a warmer time.
I liked the situation, the charm and hotel staff the breakfast could be improved
Lovely old world charm..lots of character: comfortable and very cosy: good breakfast choice.
smili,g persons especially in the restaurant; good food and recommendable
Very comfortable, well furnished, restored hotel. Very helpful and pleasant staff. Noise carrying from other rooms and from kitchen
An absolutely superb hotel. The staff were charming and helpful. The location is just superb for an off-season break (may be a little touristy in the high season). Beautiful village, beautiful room, public rooms perfect, stylish, comfortable, delightful and quite adequate for size of hotel (just 16 rooms). Bathroom large, spa bath lovely. Breakfast excellent. Lack of restaurant no problem, lots of restaurants in village, though in November many are closed. However, remaining ones included some gems. Within half an hour from Santander, could not recommend more highly. Excellent price.
The historic setting
fantastic sea view location & food
staff very helpful
It is a two star hotel.matress is 50 years old. tv the same.nothing works. water pressure unestable then you burn or freeze when other open a faucet. elevators unsuficient. dirty old rugs.restaurant poorest in whole spain. no way to roll your lugage at entrance and no staff when you arrive or depart. unconveniently located and no taxis out front. safe did not work and did not received kind of room I reserved. two bed room. Worst hotel I have ever been.dont know how come is at category small luxury hotel
very nice rooms. very quiet and charming. Staff were helpful and spoke good english
The hotel is very well situated and is luxurious. We had a beautiful room with a spectacular view. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The pool and spar were really good but we consider it to be an expensive additional facility.
Location, view from the room, size and decor of the room.
Lovely setting and terrace area looking out to the sea. Breakfast was not included in the price.
Fantastic hotel, one of the best I've stayed in, fabulous location
A beautiful classical hotel in a wonderful location. The sea view rooms are highly recommended. Probable due to the hotels age the sound proofing between rooms could have been better.
Service! In this hotel they are very much aware of what hospitality really is and how you should pamper your guests. Breakfast is delicious, nearly a reason to select the hotel. Wonderfull location and very, very nice beds. Not applicable
Very friendly staff - clean rooms. Rooms were quite noisy (between rooms) also Hotel is difficult to find.
It was very helpful that the receptionists spoke good, fluent English. There was a nice view over the city. The car park entrance and the gravel part are quite dangerous for a motorcycle to enter and reach the tarmaced area. Any loose surface makes a motorcycle unstable.
Size of the room quite generous as is the bathroom. The distance stated on the website from hotel to city centre was misleading. The hotel is right on the outskirts on the edge of an industrial estate. There was nothing nearby not even a bar or a restaurant.
Friendly reception staff. Proximity to Santander - though directions on the website were misleading as access is much easier from the Santander city side. Only a few minutes' drive into the city centre. Parking available (often a problem with cheaper Santander hotels!) Excellent bathroom (very clean; good fittings; bath/shower and shower). We used this as a night halt before taking the ferry - useful because of its location outside the busy city centre. View - towards airport and mountains. Carpet in the room was not very clean.Spa pool tiny - the website photo could mislead slightly. No air-conditioning. Bar/cafeteria seemed little-used so not very welcoming.
Hotel clean and tidy, Comfortable rooms, Spa very good Would have preferred a double bed rather than 2 twins pushed together. No restaurant in hotel or nearby, meant we had to drive into Santander. Not all the spa facilities were working correctly (curtain shower and scottish showers).
we enjoyed the tranquillity of the place
friendly helpful staff nice quiet area just a bit hard to find badly signed
Proximity to airport - less than 15 minutes in a taxi (cost less than 15 eur for two passengers and four bags). Extremely difficult to find as it was very poorly signposted. I hadn't printed out the directions from the website as I presumed that my sat nav (GPS) would bring me successfully to it (as it had it did to the 7 other hotels that I stayed in during my 2 wk stay in Spain). Due to the obscure location of the hotel, the sat nav did not bring me there & I spent an hour driving around trying to find it even though I had only been minutes drive from it originally. I had to call the hotel twice to get directions. There was no air-conditioning in the room so too hot at end of Aug & got bitten by mosquitos as left the window open to let in air during night. This hotel is actually just outside the city boundary & steps down to hotel are poorly lit
There was a kitchen which could have been useful. The hotel is very close to the ferryport and it has an interesting view over the city. The room smelt a bit musty. I was rather disappointed with this hotel and I don't quite know why. I booked it quickly to facilitate our journey to GB from Santander and it was very close, but there was no air conditioning and it was a bit noisy. Also there was no evening restaurant-we were referred to a supermarket. I was also concerned about the lighting of the stairs. Several of the staircases were dark and as usual I wondered how easily you could get out in an emergency.
Spacious rooms. Indoor pool. I would have liked the indoor pool a bit warmer.
swimming pool included, good price performance ratio, play room old style room, slightly mouldy smell in room, bathroom with window to the outside floor
Good for a night stop off, very clean, good buffet breakfast too.
transferred on arrival to sister hotel which had more facilities. this was decided by the hotel due to our length of stay and was really nice of them as it made our stay much better. Friendly staff throughout, quiet location compared to most hotels in the area. was charged for the entire stay on booking in, this also annoyed residents in Don Diego..... No nets behind curtains means having to keep curtains closed all the time for privacy
Clean hotel, good facilities and helpful staff. Would recommend it to families. Nice pool too.
It was perfect and a great value, and the breakfast buffet was excellent
I toured the town The room I received had only tiny windows and was dark during daytime
Nice hotel, nice people.
Lovely room, very comfortable. Big old style, extra bed in the room. Lots of space and close to town in park area. Parking available nearby at a cost of 2euro.
Charme.Very quiet. Very nice staff. I really wouldn't like writing anything bad about this nearly perfect hotel, but...there was a long hair in the ham dish at the breakfast buffet.
Very welcoming hotel. Decor simply beautiful and uplifting. Staff were very efficient and caring. I think a restaurant would complete this beautiful hotel. No negatives, only that it would have been really great to have a restaurant on the premises.
The hotel is a short drive from Santander & is very well located , 2 mins walk from Santillana del Mar old town and with plently of free parking. A lovely 17th century building which has been very tastefully converted to provide excellent accomodation. The owners & staff spoke English & couldn`t have been more friendly or helpful. Breakfasts were very good & offered a wide choice. Woken early (5.30am)each morning by rubbish collection--to be fair this is more of a general problem in Spain & does not refer specifically to this hotel.
clean rooms, great breakfast, friendly staff, great design, Jacuzi! the Jacuzi didnt work and we actually got a call from the front desk telling us to stop using it because there is a drain., we discover that only after we unpacked and filled up the bath. we where not offered any compensation other then switching the room ,which like i said- was already to late for us.
Comfortable accommodation, good choice continental breakfast. In a lovely village setting, but don't be misled by the location -- Santilla del mar is not a seaside town
The decor was stylish, the receptionist extremely helpful and we enjoyed a drink on the terrace in the evening. Little light and fresh air in room due to small window.
It does what is says on the tin. It is clean and very close to the beach. If I go back to Santander I will not stay in Somo, where the hotel is located. It is too far away and there is not night transport.
Good Value, Close to the beach location, rooms kept clean Rooms a bit small, only had two twin beds and should have had a double.
center of town noisy
Excellent location for seeing the town and local coast. We particularly wanted an evening meal in the hotel, by unfortunate coincidence the kitchen was closed that evening only, but they willingly accomodated us and we enjoyed an excellent diner. No!
stoped off on our way back home for two nights before catching the ferry from Santander to Portsmouth.Exellent location nice quiet town.
Cute little place, friendly staff, the price was right and the town was nice and quiet. No complaints!
We only stayed one night on the last day of our holiday as we were returning home by ferry the next day. I chose this hotel, which is situated across the bay from the ferry port, because of it's on-site parking which proved to be very convenient. Reception staff were helpfull. No food available, probably because of the time of year and low occupancy. However there were restaurants nearby.
excellent location opposite the beach and near the football stadium.staff very friendly and helpful. apartment was small
great facilities and friendly staff Nothing all good
Pleasantly decorated, spacious, well equipped, close to beach, buses, restaurants, supermarket, park, festival centre. Lack of computer for guest use despite having wifi. We had to find an internet cafe.
Loved the decor of the apartment and the location. Would like to have main condiments such as milk, tea, sugar etc. And also better range of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. These are only tiny concerns.
they were big for a family of 4 no english channels on tv
Ideal position for those who want more freedom than a hotel brings. Comfortable and friendly staff, Bus stop outside and supermarkets within 100 yards. Wonderful beach even closer!
the location was good, close to the beach the apartment was dark and dingy and smelt of damp and stale cigarette smoke
very spacious rooms, very central & near the beach
The helpful personnel. They went out of their way to make us welcome and overcome our language difficulties and provided extra service with a smile. Everything was fine
no comment there is a main road at the front and a motorway at the back the restaurant did not open at night the buffet breakfast was set at 8pm for the next morning
The hotel is just a few miles from Santander and the ferry port which is why we stay there,it is clean and comfortable. They advertise a bar and restaurant but they are not open.
Location Poorly light corridoors, cafe/bar not open when arrived on sunday afternoon
its convenient position for our long motorway journey being surprised that the hotel charged extra for our small dog, without advance information
Very comfortable, fantastic location close to Sardinero beaches and easy access to Santander city centre
the food is really worthy(especially the toast)
Location No smoking policy
Rooms very clean and of good size Price of breakfast 32e for two persons !!
Efficient, pleasant and convenient
the breakfast in the morning not many people spoke much english, and the restaurant was all in spanish, so could not order any food or drinks.
Very Clean and quiet
Excellently appointed hotel close to beach and casino. Very clean and comfortable despite being an older hotel. Secure parking under the hotel at a reasonable cost of 12 euros per day.
Location and quality
How close it was to the water and to the Palace.
The restaurant was excellent value for money. The bathroom was magnificently renovated. It was noisy, beside a main road, the windows and curtains did not close properly. The smell of mould was still present. The hotel was full of ants. We even carried them with us in the car.
Excellent location if travelling by car, just 5 km from Santander, the room was large and comfortable, noise was very reduced despite of railways and trafic road
Although the room and bathroom were small, they were well designed and modernly decorated.Ample free parking, either infront of hotel or across road. The Cafeteria served good food and alcohol. The location is on a main road and next to a railway line.
Room and bathroom were very clean. Receptionists tried to be helpful. Good situation for access to airport. Hotel is set in a very ugly area amidst railway, main road, smoking factory and high rise blocks, not scenic. Area immediately outside hotel and car park was full of litter. A depressing and not very nice approach to a hotel.
The staff were very friendly.
Convienient for airport Noisy aircon in room only one towel in bathroom
Easy to find, comfortable, helpful staff great shower, good parking suitable location.
no warm drink facility in room
distance to santander serrounding, location
Very Clean and very helpful. Very Little english spoken
Good and helpful friendly staff. Our evening meal which was inclusive was at a local restaurant run by the ownwer of the hotel. It proved to be extremely good and superb value for the money. I wish it was my local restaurant nothing
Clean, comfortable, conveniently positioned to tour the coastal towns
The hot water and bathroom TV was too small, few channels
Good value hotel in Suances, Cantabria. Parking underground. Nice clean room . Staff very helpful and the girl on reception spoke good english. floodlight aimed at bedroom window until about 12.30am and then it went off and the room was dark. Curtains were white and not lined, so light shone through into bedroom
Helpful & friendly staff. Walking distance to beach & restaurants/bars. Secure parking. Swimming pool very small. The photos made it look much bigger than it actually was.
Covenience to the beach Over priced. Photo of hotel is deceptive
