Very friendly staff. Food is very pricey but good
Received a notice the night before my stay that my reservation had been cancelled.
love the location of the resort. The pool area is very nice and a great place to relax. Food pretty expensive
The pool was way too overcrowded. I think they sell membership to to the pool to the community making it unusable to the hotel guests. There were so many people you could hardly move in it and the water was so cloudy I couldnt even see my feet. Will never go back to this hotel.
We were looking for a quiet getaway; this was not it. There were families with kids above and next to our room and we got pretty bad sleep. Slamming doors, loud TV's, running and on and on - quite late and then early in the morning. I asked for a quiet room and got nothing but noise.
They didn't have my reservation and asked me to send an email to confirm that I had a reservation
I liked that the resort has a welcoming feel and that most all of the rooms (besides the villas) were surrounded by the amenities. 1. The prices in the Marketplace. $16 for a water noodle, when they sell them for $7 right down the street! That would be hard especially for people who are having to buy for more than one kid. 2. Our bed. It was not very comfortable
Everything. Love love love. Looking right now to go back. :) More food options. That's all
The people were wonderful. Really not worth the money - I've stayed at much nicer hotels for less. Just not my cup of tea. I was there for a conference and the conference was held at the hotel - so it was convenient - I will probably stay offsite next year for less money.
everything The bathroom was too small for the room
Love this place... Property grounds are impeccable! Rooms are clean and updated. Always a great time!
The room and pool area was nice. Blue fire grill was fabulous! Front desk staff was unhelpful on multiple occasions. The day spa is mediocre at best and is long overdue for renovations! Indoor facility grout is disgusting and the indoor hot tubs are falling apart!
Loved the setting and the grounds. The room size was huge with a separate bath tub from the shower stall which was really nice. Love the out door patio and the staff was very friendly. The room smelled very musty and was freezing, probably to hide the smell. I never could get the room warm enough for my wife and I but fortunately, it was a VERY WARM weekend and we left the french doors open the whole time to get that desired warmth into the room. We were an older room of theirs so I'm not sure if this is the reason for the musty smell but it was pretty strong for our stay there. Had I been there more than one night, I definitely would have requested another room.
The room was fabulous. All the staff were very nice, happy and helpful! From the front desk, to the housekeepers! Every one deserves a "pat on the back". The buffet was horrible! We paid $30+ per person. Bad food. I was served a large "slab" of prime rib w/ a huge, and I'm not kidding, fist size full of fat in the middle of it. I wished I had my camera. Nothing really had any flavor. My boyfriend called it "army food". He tried the beef taco meat, rice & beans, amongst other things. We did like the cauliflower like an au gratin side dish. OH and don't let me forget to mention Pinks hot dog stand... HORRIBLE! For $5.99, I expected a delicious dog since I never had one from that establishment. I ordered the dog w/ chili w/ cheese. So they take a piece of american cheese and cut it in half and lay it on the bun cold. Then place the hot dog and add chili on top. The cheese never melted, the but was old and crumbly, and the chili wasn't hot enough... hence the cheese should have melted. OMG that was not good!!
Various food selections and meeting rooms. Paying $300. for a room during the conference in April. Other guests paid a lot less.
Rooms ok even though my reservation was fouled up and settled for a 2 bedroom handicapped. Not what i reserved. Staff except for a couple of the women staff trying to accommodate patrons but overall the pool and lazy experience was horrible. I understand holiday weekend but staff should of been prepared. Room took a few calls to clean room were fast the last time i called but was 10 Pm already.overall not worth the money i could of reserved another hotel nicer and cheaper and longer stay.
I like that they had great ventilation to the facility. Service was very friendly. there were no signs that identified where to go. starting from parking all the way to check-in. Food was not good at all. Tried their cafe and their buffet.
The hotel itself was clean and tge staff was very pleasant. Location... if you are planning on staying at the hotel it is just fine. It is kind of a pain to get a group of people somewhere else becsuse they don't offer a shuttle and we had to tatake a few cabs.
The staff was very good--professional and friendly. The room itself was not very clean looking. -- The grout and tiles in the shower was very dirty or stained or both. --The windows were dirty. --The carpeting looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. The room itself was older, but that doesn't mean it has to be dirty.
The rooms had modern design elements and were comfortable enough for a night's stay. The grounds were very nice and the people performing live music around the grounds were very entertaining. We were lucky enough to have a hotel room complete with its own aroma. It might have been mold but I would more accurately identify it as a human biological odor. Sprayed some foo-foo around the room and went to sleep very late. Left very early. Wouldn't recommend for people with sensitive noses.
Harrah's is a wonderful hotel, Love the pool. Just a great place to get away. They can lossen the Slot Machines a little bit, at least enough to play for a while. But I do love this Casino.
The room was extremely high quality that can match las Vegas anytime. If you're there to gamble or not you will love the room.
Front desk staff waited 25 minutes to be serviced. A joke kept taking Diamond members.
Lovely hotel, casino & pool! Great layout too! All of the staff were very accommodating and helpful. We paid $140/night, and it didn't include wifi? Really? And asked for a later checkout, only to be told it would cost $20? The explanation on the wifi is that they don't charge a resort fee, so they charge individually for wifi. $12 for 2 devices for 24 hours. Uh.. no thanks!
The food selection wasn't the greatest. Buffet food was not good and overpriced.
great value for the price. We had a great time !
We LOVED our one-night stay at the Lakehouse! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left - everything was perfect. We booked it last minute as a fun little getaway during the holidays. We got a pretty good deal since we stayed the night before New Year's Eve (12/30). The hotel texted us to let us know our room was ready and we were able to check in around 1 PM. We had a ground floor pool view room. Every room has a balcony with bright yellow adirondack chairs and it was really nice sitting outside our room, with a cup of coffee and my book. They had quiet reggae music playing at the pool and I really enjoyed it! The room was IMMACULATE. Everything felt new and crisp and clean. I loved the color scheme and layout too. The room was really spacious and just overall lovely. It was just 2 of us for one night but I did notice that there were a TON of outlets throughout the room. Nice touch in this day and age when we all have so many electronics to charge :) The pools were both heated and almost warm enough for me to swim in (On December 30, mind you). We loved the jacuzzis though! I wish we'd been there on a Friday when they serve Sangria at the pool! (oh well, we'll just have to go back). In the evening they have fire pits around the pools that they light and it was really pretty and romantic. The grounds were really peaceful and tranquil. And even though the hotel was probably at low to moderate capacity - it feels like the type of place that even when it's full, it doesn't feel crowded. I noticed that another couple was checked into the room next to us, and there were people above them, but I never heard anyone at all when we were in our room. They serve free coffee in the morning at their little cafe and it was better than that your standard free hotel coffee. We walked by the lake, but didn't participate in any of the many lake activities. I also went for a run in the neighborhood in the morning and it's a really cute little community. We had a great time at the Lakehouse and kept saying we really wanted to bring friends back!
Super helpful and friendly staff, nice facilities, pools were awesome for relaxing during the day. The check-in time of four and check-out time of eleven is a little tight, but we requested a later check out (noon) and that made it closer to what we are used to at other hotels. They offered to let us use the pool after checking out so that was really nice of them.
Loved the atmosphere. Calm by the lake. Family oriented! Felt like vacation! Music, bar, and s'mores by the pool! The lake and the boat rental our favorite part! Drinks at the pool bar a little pricey.
I loved the room and the fact that it was right by the lake. It had a great view. The only thing I didn't like was that hardly and water came out from the shower or the sink but besides that everything else was great!
We loved the room, bed was really comfortable. Had a great nights sleep. The pool area is great. Cabanas, two pools, two jacuzzis, and two firepitts. Plenty of space. Staff was nice but not very knowledgeable. No one ever went out of their way to help if there was a problem.
The Lakehouse has a lot of potential and gets a lot of things right, but it lets the little details get in the way of really hitting the mark. Pros: - Comfortable beds - Full showers - Beautiful pools - Friendly staff - Free Wi-Fi - Free parking - Mini fridge - Activities for kids Cons: - Noise - Bugs - Outside light - No safe in room - No plugs at computer desk - Wi-Fi drops and is unreliable Most rooms are motel-style and open directly to the outside, which can be noisy and makes it much easier for bugs to end up in the room (especially with the rooms being so close to the lake). We had mosquitos and silverfish in our room two or three days in a row.
Tons of bugs. Couldn't use the beautiful balcony.
Great staff, truly care about you...my husband was having surgery and they wanted to make sure he had everything he needed to be comtorable and have a room on the first floor and they also upgraded us to a room that was right on the lake free of charge:) amazing beds, showers, true spa like feel The only thing that bothers me is that you can't check in until 4 and you have to check out by 11
The room was smaller than I expected. The layout of the room was also weird
The s'more kit upon check in, super friendly and helpful staff. Very nice room, comfortable and well maintained. We were in town for a soccer tournament and the weather was in 60s so we would have liked to enjoy the pool and lake activities.
Very kid-friendly and the proximity to Legoland was nice. The staff were generally pretty helpful. The gym had a good selection of equipment. For the price, the room that we had was sub-par. The wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling and the shower was pretty run-down. Although some of the gym equipment had televisions built in, there was limited volume despite the supplying of headphones. Couldn't really hear anything while running on the treadmill.
Room was spacious and clean, shower was great, location was great. I was woken up by housekeeping in the morning on the day I checked out- I would have liked to sleep in! And I don't like the hidden "resort fee".
I like the location I was promised a ocean view I got a parking l
Food was awful, I would have expected better especially considering the simplicity of my order and the cost. I ordered a cheeseburger which was burned and the worst quality. The pizza I ordered tasted like cardboard. When I was checking out I waited about 5 minutes for the front desk agent to come back, she came up from the hallway with a cup of coffee in hand and didn't even apologize for the wait.
Cape Rey was a lovely place to stay and I wouldn't mind coming back for a longer stay. Only had the chance to spend a beautiful weekend there, can't imagine how amazing it'd be in the summer. Staff was very helpful, approachable and kind.
The resort itself is absolutely beautiful with plenty activities, some for a price. But, if you plan on exploring the city of Escondido or visiting San Diego, a vehicle is required because the resort is in a very secluded area. Didn't like the bottom level floor/ground level of the mountain villas.
Everything was very nice. Very clean and I liked that. It was very noisey. Heard people above me and beside me.
This was an excellent central location for enjoying Sea World, Lego Land, Wild Animal Park, San Diego Zoo & the ocean. Weather was consistently about 5-10 degrees C warmer at the resort than on the coast. The pool and waterpark at the hotel is ideal for a family vacation.
the front desk was not friendly and helpful; they did not inform us that they do not provide crib service ahead of our arrival; they do not have shuttle service when they are in the middle of no where.
2 bedroom unit was very room.
Gym is the best equipped I have ever seen. Lots of exercise & yoga classes available Very nice Executive golf course Staff for most part very helpful They really try to keep you entertained right on the premises with shows, & other activities. The units are very nicely laid out large & comfortable If you have kids, lots of playgrounds, slides, & pools to play in. Overall it's the staff & the rooms that make this a very nice relaxing stay Terrible internet connection on my laptop Location not convenient, have to drive some distance for evening out or dinner out
It was beautifully decorated and very spacious. everything was very clean and it was very quiet and family orientated
Comfortable beds, spacious for our family, washer & dryer in villa, fully stocked kitchen to prepare anything, helpful, friendly staff, and most of all, Esco is a short drive (minus CA traffic) to all sights. We are a family of 6 and stayed mid July. This was our second stay at Welk and due to a lot of noise upstairs from us last year, we requested an upstairs villa this time. They were nice about accommodating our request however, when we pulled up to the villa, parking was limited because of construction. The first night we discovered ants crawling on the kitchen counter, so I called and they sent someone over to resolve the problem(but not completely). Oh and the people below us smoked, so whenever we chose to sit on the patio we were greeted with cigarette smoke. Construction began early in the mornings and it was loud. I can't help but think it was our fault for requesting an upstairs villa and that is all they had available. We stayed for 7 days and housekeeping came once. Let's just say I never felt comfortable removing my shoes inside the villa. The kids loved the rec center and the pool, however the latter was never kept clean. I overheard a guest mention how he could actually 'see his feet' today but then pointed out everything floating on the top of the water. None of this bothered me overly much until I took my kids to the pool on a Sat night around 7ish, and encountered a group of twenty year-old girls at the hot tub, drinking, cursing, and talking very loudly about their sexual escapades. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some prudish anti-fun individual and my kids are not completely ignorant about life but what those girls discussed made even me feel uncomfortable. We were about to leave until they took their party elsewhere, but I can't help but wonder what they were doing there in the first place? Were they with family, or did Welk rent a villa to a rowdy group of individuals who wanted to party in a family environment? We will not be returning next year.
