My friend and I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Vogar. First thing we noticed was that our room was spotless and well furnished/decorated. The hotel owner is extremely nice and hospitable. Parking is conveniently offered right outside the rooms with the Blue Lagoon and Keflavik Airport only 5-6 miles driving distance away. The breakfast offered had a wide variety of choices and was delicious. Also, the beds were very comfortable. We had the best sleep and the beautiful Icelandic countryside was all we saw from our window. Great place for comfort, peace, and solitude!
Great breakfast, comfortable beds, spacious easy accessible room, free internet, helpful staff - overall a very welcome surprise and an enjoyable stay.
It was very clearn and confortable hotel. The stuff was very kindly and nice man. I think so that If you don't have a rental car,it is very inconvenience.
very helpful hotel staff, easy to find, parking direct in front of the room. Clean rooms, good breakfast buffet.
Close airport Clean Friendly staff None
Very convinient location Price was rather high
The manager gave us a 2 for 1 pass for the blue lagoon which he had found in the daily paper. It was a lovely touch.
Visited Blue Lagoon. Got gas, ate.
Appreciated the friendly service and the pleasant accommodations and especially the reliable, efficient shuttle to the airport. Not convenient to any selection for evening meal.
Good place to stay for a late arrival or early departure, very friendly helpful owners. Nothing to do in the immediate area, but it's really just somewhere to get a good nights sleep
We chose the hotel for the location and the shuttle service to the airport for an early flight, the room was spacious and clean, the staff helpful and friendly and the breakfast substantial.
The friendly manager was really helpful. The hotel was warm and beds very comfortable. For a 4 bed room, we had loads of space. Transfer to airport at 5am was very efficient. Finding the place was hard, even with a map. The turn off from the main road (41) is not signposted nor are there any road names until into the complex. The buildings are not numbered in order so we had to ask someone for directions.
Right by the airport with the convenient shuttle to pick you up and drop you off. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was nice and big and very clean. Beds comfortable with nice big comforters. The best was the breakfast, lots of choice (I loved the thin pancakes) and fresh fruit. They even had computers to use in the lounge area and room to play cards or games. Can't think of anything!
Airport pickup, freindly service
Huge rooms by Icelandic standards. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. All round, probably the best hotel I've stayed in while in Iceland (I've stayed in many) I would absolutely recommend to anybody.
110 volt electric service & convenience to airport. Its name! It is not a "bed & breakfast"! It is a low quality motel room.
friendly and very helpfull hotel staff
Great location for ariport, shuttle service, friendly staff, ex-NATO base building, quiet location Plugs are 110V
Friendly staff, efficient transfer to the airport, decent breakfast, and clean rooms. A big plus: the hotel hosts a full service gym/fitness center which guests can use for free. The big negative was the soft double bed my wife and I tried to sleep on. How did they manage to get ahold of Grandma's old bed from her basement?
Location close to the airport. Pleasant staff and breakfast is much better than continental (in information). Really value for money. I have to take a taxi to the hotel; only back paid by the hotel.
The best alternative in Keflavik. Sometimes too busy in the small breakfast room. Have to wait to get a free seat/table.
Value for money, excellent breakfast, comfortable room, free return journey to airport. Resturant not avilable for dinner - catering for parties. Ate in a town resturant and at another hotel which were both good.
Near airportand Blue Lagoon
Good breakfast and a nice restaurant Poor timing. City shut off the water supply for construction. Out of the hotels control however
Ambiance cleanliness and breakfast Room small for 3 people Shower not hot enough for me
Great location being very close to airport. Very good breakfast. Modern design and luxury settings. Tiny bathrooms even in the deluxe suite, lack of hangers for clothes/towels.
Close to the Keflavik airport, comfortable and clean. Buffet breakfast (good choice) included within the price and begins at 5:00 am... Free Internet access. Relatively small room with smaller bathroom.
the proximity to the airport
Walking distance to main-street with restaurants and shops.. The spare-beds in the suites where not as comfortable as I hoped, woke up with some pain in my back. The doublebed was ok.
Location: 5 to 10 minute walk from Keflavik airport. Excellent Staff: I flew overnight and didn't account for the date change. Staff was very accommodating, changing my dates and even letting me check in early. Before we realized the error, they were happy to hold my luggage. Food: The breakfast buffet was just ok, but I enjoyed the chicken stir-fry at dinner. A seamless experience to land in the morning, store luggage, go touring for a day, then check an early flight out the next day. Getting there: there is no side walk, so you must take a detour around the parking lot or walk more directly on the grass. This was more my/ reykjavik excursions fault: I asked the ticket woman from flybuss about the bus into the city, and she said every 10 minutes, I ended up taking my time at the hotel and missed the flybus. The next one would go 2 hrs later, missing my tour. I had to take a taxi. If you do drop things at the hotel, you should go back to the airport quickly as the last bus to the city tends to leave within 40 minutes of landing.
Good value for the amount I paid. Location was within walking distance of the airport and rental car return. No complaints.
I stayed overnight on a connection, which was not my planned route so I was in a terrible mood about the whole thing. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. I loved that it was right by the Keflavik terminal (they say five minutes but I walked there with all my bags in two and a half). I love hard floors in hotel rooms because it just seems so much more hygienic-- you can see how clean (or unclean!) the floors are and my room was immaculate when I arrived. The bathroom is very basic and the beds (I had two singles in my room) don't look like much but... THE BEDS AND BEDDING ARE PHENOMENAL. I slept so soundly and so comfortably I almost didn't want to leave. The comforters were just the right weight, the pillows were perfect. Seriously. After bed, I packed up and got ready, then crawled back in bed until right before checkout. The included breakfast goes until ten o'clock and had a lot of variety and was very filling. Checkout is at noon but they don't seem to mind you hanging out in their lobby for a few hours after. I didn't have a need for a car, but it's also by all of the car rental places-- I would suggest this hotel if your plan is to see a lot of things outside of Reykjavik while you're staying over (parking was also free I believe). The wifi wasn't very cooperative and I had trouble connecting multiple times (they're individual routers rather than an integrated system your device roams on) but it eventually worked and was fast enough. I would agree with other posters that when you come in on a flight at midnight, it's confusing to figure out where it exactly is in relation to the exit-- a sign in the airport would be nice, but people are friendly enough if you ask.
This is a great place to stay if you have a quick overnight stop in Iceland before flying out the next day. I loved that it was walking distance from the airport and that breakfast was included. The room itself was nice and very clean. While it didn't have the amenities of the Hilton Hotel (where we had previously stayed), I personally felt that the room was of the same (wonderful) quality. The hotel can be a little confusing to find in the dark and when you are tired - wish there was a sign somewhere in the airport. I also found the price to be a bit high, but you are paying for the convenience (and everything in Iceland tends to be expensive).
This is a nice hotel located 2 minutes from the airport. It is very convenient when taking a late or early flight. Beds were comfortable and place was very clean. Front desk staff was very kind and accommodating. There was an elevator for heavy suitcases (yes!), first hotel to have it since arriving in Iceland and staying in 7 different hotels. I was very happy with this hotel. Only thing missing was tea/coffee and kettle in room, this would have been a nice touch.
The hotel was close to the airport terminal which was great at 3AM. I will stay at this hotel again. I called GetA Room 3 times before I received an answer to my question. The answer came two days after my hotel stay, TOO LATE!!! I will never use this service again.
Clean room, clean hotel, good breakfast, great staff Bed was poor for US standards, but ok for Europe standards. Lacking extra pillows, comforters.
I was charged $93 as a single traveler. I had made the reservation thinking the price corresponded to the comfort level. It did not. This is a glorified hostel on the outskirts of town. It is in an old industrial type building away from the center of town. Very noisy with smelly bathrooms. Only 3 bathrooms for quite a lot of rooms... When I brought up booking.com for the date that I was there the price came up for $63. I brought this to the attention of the owner. I was being charged the price for a family room. He said that it was too bad, I had booked at that price. He was quite unfriendly and defensive about the situation. Bottom line: I was overcharged and told 'too bad', it was my fault for booking it at that rate. I travel through Iceland twice a year and have stayed in many guesthouses in Keflevic. I have had very good experiences with all except this one.
Staff picked us up at airport without a hitch. Gave us towels and ride to from Blue Lagoon, although it is close enough to walk. Front desk arranged a Golden Circle tour with pick up at hotel and drop off in city. Great service Breakfast buffet a little weak, but hey, they are not big into breakfasts in Iceland
The space was perfect for our last night in Iceland. We hit some bumps in the road with previous lodging on our trip, which is to be expected; however, it was quite relieving to walk into Bergas Guesthouse and be greeted with a friendly face and such attention to detail. The check-in process was the smoothest we experienced, our room was prepared and ready for us to walk in and fall into very comfortable beds to rest. We booked here because it was a short drive to the Blue Lagoon and minutes from the airport and we would be visiting both in the following 24 hour period. Perfect location, great price, lovely owners. Wish we could have stayed a little longer to explore the surrounding area and waterfront. I will definitely keep Bergas Guesthouse in mind for future trips.
The owners are very personable and make for a magical experience. The hotel room was delightfully comfortable. We lived it here and will return. Nothing.
The hotel hosts were wonderful people, warm and welcoming. They made a great dinner suggestion for us and even phoned in the reservation, which was so nice after our long travel day. The beds were comfy and rooms very clean. We couldn't have been happier.
Very convenient for the airport. Hote; a bit "tired". Food very average and dull. Last time I stayed in a similar priced hotel in Reykjavik which was in the town centre and had great food. I should have done the same this time obviously.
Its location near to the airport Relatively high price for the services offered, reception staff was rather blunt
Receptionist was endearing and very helpful.Bar was homely. We arrived to the restaurant exactly 2mins after 9:30 (restaurant closing time) on a saturday night, and we were not served dinner despite the fact that at least 3 other tables were still having their starters (and the fact that the hostess herself told us that no other place would be available for dinner in Keflavyk). This is not the experience I would expect from such a hotel.
Quality of food in the restaurant, cleanliness of room, ambiente of room None
Close to airport.
The staff was very helpful and we got all our information on what to do during our short stay from them; city sightseeing for me and friend from England.
The friendly staff and very convenient location, near to both the airport and the city of Reykjavik. And very good base for daytrips to the top sights of Iceland as Gullfoss, Geysir, Tingvellir and Blue Lagoon. Nice rooms and very good value for money. Hafnarfjordur is a small, but cosy village with some shops, restaurants, galleries and nice surroundings. Everything was according to my expectations - very nice stay!
Staff excellent, room small but nice and clean. None other then the single bed is a bit small.
Large, clean rooms, nice and helpful personel. The hotel is situated outside Reykjavik (not walking distance), but a relatively economic and practical alternative for families with children. There are no doors between the different sleeping zones in the room.
The staff are superb! very helpful! wonderful chat
Everyone very helpful and friendly.
Fine staff and location and breakfast. Nice and quiet place. Well, rather small single rooms, although fair value for money.
A very friendly and clean hotel with nice five person rooms 10 km outside Reykjavik. No changes in breakfast during the four day stay.
Spacious room with kitchenette.
Lovely big room, very clean, excellent breakfast with many buffet options, computer with free internet for guest use. Excellent value for money through the internet special deal. Convenient if you have a car, probably not if you don'T.
This hotel really lets you see what hospitality and comfort should be like. Our flight left at 6:40am and the hotel provides a complimentary 'pre' breakfast at 4am for early travelers. There was breads, small meats, cereal, yogurt, fruit, assorted cream cheese spreads, coffee/tea, juices. Regular breakfast starts at 8am. Just this alone was enough to win me over. Add to that the rooms were very clean, the showers had great pressure and the beds were super comfy. The only issue I had was that they give us two twin comforters instead of one big one... Yup, that was it. Behind the hotel is the sea.
