Il Borgo di Genova - Genoa - Bedroom
1
9.3 Excellent (220 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in San Fruttuoso, this guesthouse is within a 15-minute walk of Piazza Colombo and Luigi Ferraris Stadium. Chiossone Museum of Oriental Art (Museo d'Arte Orientale) and Piazza de Ferrari are also within 1 mi (2 km). Genoa Genova Brignole Station is 5 minutes by foot.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is great, really nice room. Good service perfect stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The accommodation is in an old but very nice/ typical Italian building, close by Brignole train/ metro station. So the location is very good (Brignole train/ metro station is one of the main stations in Genoa). You can find nearby different stores and trattoria(s). If you would like, you can walk to the (old) city center, Genoa Porto Antico, Piazza Ferrari, etc (15-30 minutes). The rooms are very clean and the bed is comfortable. The owner is very friendly and is always around, ready to help/ provide you with information you might need.
Cons: There is a small (and probably busy in the morning) pedestrian street, which is used in the morning to easily reach the metro/ train station. It could be a bit noisy in the morning but if you keep the window close there is no problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was very central, within 2 minutes of the train, metro and local taxi rank. It was also pretty central to walk to the shops and conveniences
Cons: Unfortunately the stairs are pretty step which I understand is standard for Genoa, as other people in local hotels said there were not lifts and they had to walk up flights of stairs
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Giovanni was incredibly helpful. We needed additional assistance because we were travelling with wedding cakes which needed repairing after the flight. After that was sorted he asked us if we needed anything else, which he didn't need to do.
Cons: Unfortunately the stairs were difficult for my mum due to her age but I understand this is typical for the region.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect.
6.3 Good
Pros: Giovanni was very helpful and willing to give us detailed information about everything. Check in was quick and easy and the communication with Giovanni was great.
Cons: The room wasn’t very clean and the bathroom towels had a musty smell when wet. Petit entrance with very steep stairs! The neighborhood was a bit strange because the rooms are behind the railway station.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Easy to get to, very close to Brignole Station, 30 mins on Vola Bus from airport and just €6 each! The property is 10-15 mins walk to Piazza Ferrari, a great place to begin exploring the city. Giovanni was an excellent host, very helpful with where to visit and places that were not so necessary (we only had 1 full day in Genoa). Our flight was delayed which was not a problem for checking in. We were also left a map in the room on arrival with great information circled and suggested for all kinds to see and do! Overall a very good experience with the property, could have stayed longer!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Giovanni is a wonderful host. It was my second time staying there and it was brilliant. Every time I visit Genova I shall only stay at il Borgo
Old Port Genova Centro B&b - Genoa - Bedroom
2
9.3 Excellent (140 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Old Port Genova Centro B&B in Genoa (Genoa Historical Centre), you'll be steps from Palazzo di San Giorgio and National Ligurian Gallery at the Spinola Palace (Galleria Nazionale di Palazzo Spinola). Featured amenities include luggage storage and an elevator. A roundtrip airport shuttle is available for a surcharge.
7.5 Good
Pros: Staff very helpful. Lorenzo came with us to show where car park was. Valeria was attentive & helpful also. Breakfast was plentiful. It was quiet & near to excellent places to eat at the marina.
Cons: The bed was rather too firm for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The convieniece of the location
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This was by far the best B&B experience we had on our entire trip. The host is extremely friendly and immediately gave us several tips regarding places to go to, restaurants, street food etc. We followed up her advice checking out most of the advice she had given and they all turned out to be more than worth it. The place itself is really fantastic. The bathroom is an absolute stunner with a mosaic wall end led-lighting in the shower etc. The room to have breakfast was fully equipped with a full fridge, great Lavazza coffee machine you could use at will and a full table which was updated every morning (as if some faireys had come along at night :-)). The location is really close to both the old port and the city.
Cons: Since the entrance of the B&B is under a portico bordering a wide road it is difficult or impossible to see from the road. Even though we had a satnaf we had trouble identifying the entrance even if though there is an indication next to the door itself. Parking the car is a bit of a hassle. too. Our tip would be to first just park the car in the carpark across the wide road which is called Old Port Genova Car Park, maybe even leave the suitcases in the trunk and go to do the ceck in across the road. Then go back to pick up the bagage from the car park. Once you settled down you won't regret your choice. The neighbourhood is well located (close to the port and city centre) but seems to suffer from uncontrolled migration which probably has changed it very quickly. Having said this, this is the case for the entire port area and several areas of Genova. However, we find it not sufficient reason for not recommending this wonderful place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, beautiful room and nice port location. Excellent value,
Cons: The place is small, only 3 rooms, so no staff is on-site. This means you need to contact them before you arrive to let you in.. I arrived early, and didn't contact beforehand, so I was stuck having to store my luggage until I could contact property. Of course if I would have read the instructions on the site, I could have avoided this, and once I made contact they met me to let me in. Place is hard to find. Remember it is between addresses 113 and 115.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The house is amazing except the location. the food, facility, staff are perfect. the surround is not so safe. if you are an non-Europen guy, I will not suggest you to stay in this area.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly owner who gave me lots of information and was there when I needed her, but didn't get involved otherwise. The room was very clean, but not sterile looking and had nice quiet, efficient aircon. Great location, right next to everything but also very quiet when sleeping.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were stressed from a bad experience in our previous town and it was pouring. The manager went out of her way to make us feel at home. She gave us an upgrade to our room, told us to go, have coffee, relax, then come down and finish the payment process. It was just what we needed. The room was gorgeous, super clean, spaceous, the coffee and cookies were amazing, and the people really pushed it over the top--so kind and accommodating. Every one of them. The bathrooms and decor were updated, modern, and very clean. Shower had a rainfall waterhead and worked perfectly. They even got us a taxi to go to the airport, so getting there was the hardest part. I read previous reviews about the hotel being difficult to find and they were right. When we left and came back, we always looked for the ice cream shop to recall where to turn in. The hotel was amazing.
Cons: We loved everything about it. It was slightly hard to find, but once you find it, you will easily find it again after you wander around this gorgeous city. People in shops and restaurants were welcoming and spoke enough English that we didn't feel like foreigners.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely bed and pillows. Water, tea and coffee in a guest sitting area. There is an elevator. Across the piazza from a beautiful church. Plenty of restaurants in the area.
Cons: The hotel was a bit hard to find because taxi has to drop you off in a nearby piazza. I was traveling after dark. I felt safe, just a bit confused by the narrow streets. Otherwise, a good location.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is situated in the old town of Genova. Walking there late at night from the station is not very comfortable, but doable. But I think, I wouldn't do it again, and if, only in company. The hotel is furnished and designed very tastefully. You can see it in the pictures and it is exactly like that. The staff is extremely kind, every single person from the check-in to the breakfast staff and check-out! I paid the breakfast in addition. Everything was very fresh, the fruit delightful. The only thing I have missed, was a "vero caffè Italiano". The room was bright and big, the bathroom with window, bright too. It was a perfect stay and I will certainly come again.
Cons: Absolutely nothing.
7.0 Good
Pros: Old stylish building
Cons: Mirrors for 1m 65 hight, too many lamps and Buttons that are hard to switch off
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice building, just in the center of the old town.
Cons: Streets around in the evening are not "feel safe".
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a fantastic space! We had a double that had a loft. Friends staying at the same time had a smaller double - both were very nice rooms. Although ours was bigger, theirs had a better view. I found going up and down the stairs to go the bathroom a bit challenging at night - but it was nice to have the extra "sitting room" to entertain our friends. Beautifully decorated. Nice big windows. Fantastic location and quiet even though off an occasionally busy square. Very nice common areas and totally appreciated that you could go grab a carafe of sparkling or still water for your room - and tea and coffee etc. Elevator for luggage etc. and in a great location. The hotel provides all sorts of information when you book - including walking instructions to find them - which I suggest you follow as old town Genoa has many small streets and is easy to get lost! Their instructions were clear and easy and got us there no problem. They also recommended a parking lot - which worked well for us. The desk staff in the sister hotel (where you check in) were really lovely to deal with, and although the sister hotel was a "higher end" hotel (it has absolutely stunning common rooms), I was very pleased with our room and our hotel next door.
7.0 Good
Pros: Clean & Stylish - good communal lounge area.. Situated in the old town ...
Cons: Very noisy street at night - hard to find as it was down a very narrow alley way
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beds were comfortable. Conversion f rom palazzo to hotel very stylish. V good breakfast. Would return
Cons: It would be very easy to hit your head against stairs in room 4. A hazard

Hotel Genova Liberty - Genoa - Bedroom
10
9.0 Excellent (2,129 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at Hotel Genova Liberty places you in the heart of Genoa, within a 10-minute walk of Piazza de Ferrari and Medieval Gates (Porta Soprana). Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and an elevator. A roundtrip airport shuttle is available for a surcharge.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in an old building right smack in the middle of a major shopping street and close to all the sights. There is an elevator that takes you to the reception area on the 3rd floor. My room was small and spartan, but clean. The high ceiling made up for the tight space. The queen size bed was also very comfortable. And there were ample choices for breakfast.
Cons: The lighting could be brighter and there was no view from the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place at city center. Comfy and stylish rooms. Amazing old building with a city view. Lots of places you can visit by foot. Skilled personnel that always ready to help with any request. There is no parking lot at the hotel building but you can use one at the shop center across the street with a discount. Highly recommended.
Cons: Separate mattress on a double bed. Sometimes they just split.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hotel could not be better. Despite occupying the third and fourth floors of a grand building it did not detract from the quality of my stay. The decor is excellent with some impressive stencilled ceilings. It is only a short walk to Brignole station. I would thoroughly recommend the hotel but at the moment during the summer season. Read below. The staff are friendly and efficient. Breakfast was fine.
Cons: It is unfortunate that the one continuing issue I had was with the noise from the central heating in my room. The system has only recently been turned back on for the winter and it appears difficult to find someone to let the air out of it. This is, I was told, a problem with getting the owners of the building to address the issue.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is excellent, right in the middle of town, the entrance, however, is a little disguised as it is not very well signed and is in a building housing multiple businesses. Decor and cleanliness is faultless and the staff are friendly and eager to help. Breakfast is simple but fresh and tasty.
Cons: everything was excellent except for the minor detail of signage at the front door, which could be because of heritage restrictions or similar. I would stay there again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good central location
Cons: Hard to find
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Good value, convenient location for transport and sightseeing. Friendly staff. Very impressive for the price.
Cons: There was some annoying noise from the plumbing

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Old beautiful house
Cons: A bit loud as noise goes up. Way to reach a bit hard to find
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the look of the renovations, combining modern Italian aesthetics with the beauty of the frescoed walls and ceilings. Our room was spacious and the bed comfortable. The bathroom was spotless. We loved the hotel's location, tucked away on a small piazza in the historic old city centre, yet only a few steps away from the neighbouring shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. We loved the sound of the bells, coming from the surviving Romanesque bell tower of the neighbouring Baroque church, while loving its large dome that dominated the view from our window. The breakfast was outstanding served in a charming attic setting with views across the city. The weather was not conducive to sitting on the adjoining terrace but it must be delightful on warmer days. There was easy access to the top floors via a modern lift and guests could enjoy a private sitting room, complete with floor to ceiling booksheves and coffee making facilities. The staff were friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful.
Cons: We couldn't fault it but the bar on the opposite side of the piazza does stay open late and this does generate noise for some of the rooms facing the piazza. There also appear to be restrictions on taxis entering the historic centre on weekends, so you may find yourself having to complete the last part of the journey to the hotel on foot.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel has some really interesting features from bygone days. It’s in the old town and is easy to get to visit all the sights.
Cons: The narrow alley ways can seem daunting and it sometimes feels uncomfortable encountering the ladies of the night plying their trade but it just adds to the charisma and charm of the area. I always felt safe.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Service was excellent, and room very comfortable
Cons: Arriving at 11pm and finding out the taxi couldn’t take me to the door. I had to walk alone up what I would call an ally way, which was actually the street!

Pros: I've stayed in this hotel a couple times already and it is just magnificent. The staff is very kind, the bar is exquisite, very good breakfast and drinks (never had a lunch or diner). The views to the marina and the aquarium are a great bonus, you can see the dolphins from the aquarium jumping on the water during breakfast! Old town is just a couple minutes walking and there are plenty of nice restaurants nearby.
Cons: There's nothing I dislike about this hotel

Pros: Location was awesome. A little bit far from subway station, but it was good location to walk to waterfront sightseeing area and also to the city of Genova. Room was not luxury for its price but affordable.
Cons: Staff were friendly but didn't assist us on time. We had to ask them the same request couple of times. Because drainage of bathtub was broken, we were offered another available room.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, i.e. very close to rail station and bus stop and in walking distance to the cruise terminal. Plenty or restaurant choices close-by. Lovely breakfast. Professional staff and easy to communicate in English. Loved the character of the hotel and the décor. Hotel is linked to the Grand Savoia next door where we had some lovely drinks at the bar.
Cons: The bed was a bit too hard for our liking. We had a lovely balcony but it faced other windows (I should have asked for a room with a view).

Pros: The staff are very friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and the room quiet at night. There is a good choice at breakfast, everything I tried was very nice. Pros: Clean, comfortable, with excellent staff and free WiFi. Good breakfast and location. I stayed for 5 nights on business and it was perfect for what I needed. Good value too.
Cons: Only thing to be aware of is that there are around 20 steps to reach reception, which is inconvenient if, like me, you have a lot of heavy equipment. The hotel itself has a lift to all floors.

8.9 Excellent (581 reviews)

9.0 Excellent
Cons: Everything was fine. The building is old and a bit delapidated but the 3rd floor location was cosy and well-maintained. 8 in the room is 2 too many in my opinion as it doesn`t afford much space to any person.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Incredibly helpful and friendly staff. Comfy beds. Amazing historical building. Perfect location - less than 5 min walk to Piazza De Ferrari (subway/ bus station/ airport shuttle stop). It's about 20 min stroll to Brignole train station.
Cons: N/A
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location, 1 min to Piazza Ferrari, which is the core of the city (center).
Cons: There's no need to go upstairs on the building where the reception is, as the rooms are on another building (not sure if all of them), so if you're loaded, don't waste your energies! call them when you're there
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The two brothers at the reception were very kind and helpful. My feet had blisters and one of the guys provided band-aids; that was really sweet. The building is right in the city centre, close to all the sights.
7.5 Good
Pros: Staff friendly & helpful.
Cons: Stairs! No proper lounge...
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: A few staff members were really nice, the kitchen was cute, and they had free juice, coffee, tea, and milk
Cons: I have no idea why this hostel has such high reviews. I’ve stayed in over 50 hostels and this was one of the worst. The staircase to the hostel and the showers were very dirty and moldy. They allowed a really strange guest that they admitted had been previously been blacklisted to stay in my room. He was very rude hitting on me, blatantly interrupting my phone calls with my students for various reasons, and praying very loudly with incense and chanting every morning at 8am (hello?! There are churches/mosques for this!). They refused to change my room, even after the guest called me a b*tch and said many anti-American things to me(in front of one of their staff members!). They did eventually remove him from the room but he never should have been there, especially if he had been blacklisted before. Do not stay here, as if you are a solo female traveler!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast and kitchen facilities. I enjoyed the people I stayed with
Cons: More toilets are needed
