10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is in beautiful grounds just outside Troyes. The owners didn’t speak English but were very friendly and gave us a magnificent breakfast. Our suite was very large with high beamed ceilings, plenty of seating and a full sized fridge, combo microwave/grill/oven and two ring hob. The bedroom was enormous with a sink unit and corner bath within the room. One door lead to the toilet and another doorway (no door) to a shower room. Everywhere was beautifully and tastefully decorated and we were very comfortable. The grounds are lovely to walk around.
Cons: Being English, we love our mugs of tea! An electric kettle would have been helpful and would have enabled us to fill a thermos flask for our ongoing journey. This is a suggestion not a criticism, as we know it is not traditional in French B&B’s, so we went to the local supermarket and bought a small one for the rest of our touring holiday. We had a lovely stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was superb and the room was very nice.
Cons: Another bin in the room would have been nice

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room, vey comfortable bed, loads of hot water and plenty of coffee, plus use of a fridge and cutlery made it easy to eat a cold meal in. Breakfast was delicious!. Fantastic rural setting. Almost perfect!
Cons: Really, only that there was no door on the bathroom and you have to hide behind a tailor’s dummy if you want privacy on the loo!I know many people don’t mind, but we are very private people and this was , for us, rather uncomfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: really nice and cosy place. Much better than a impersonal Hotel. Very nice breakfast. The friendly grandma cooked us some fresh crepes, wow. Also the cheese and the bread was tasty. We enjoyed the silence of the house and the park around.
Cons: nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a lovely designed room this was. The styling and amenities were great. The property was well maintained and our host was lovely. We speak very little french and our host spoke very little english but we managed to get by and our stay was very enjoyable.
Cons: I would have loved to have a full length mirror in the room. I know its trendy not to have doors on en-suites but I would have liked a bit more privacy in the bathroom. Such minor things and they did not impact our time here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb location. Excellent room. Lovely breakfast in wonderful room.
Cons: Everything excellent.

Pros: Lovely room, huge bathroom, quiet location, very convenient to the autoroute so a good stop off on the way to south of France, dog friendly. Pros: From the start till the end, everything was perfect. The house is excellent, in a tranquil village with beautiful view. The house is sparkling clean, with a great pool, comfortable rooms. The owners were really friendly, they gave us great local tips and responded to all our quests and requests. The breakfast was local, delicious and cozy. Cons: That we had to leave at the end of the holiday.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great swimmingpool, friendly owners, marvelous breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious and comfortable rooms a short distance off the Payage. Plenty of space for a family of 4. Lovely swimming pool and very thoughtful to provide pool towels (very helpful when you are stopping off en route). Very friendly and helpful owners who couldn't do enough to help (dinner recommendations, cot and changing mat ready and waiting, found a baby bath and high chair). The place is so welcoming and being small felt really homely. But the best has to be the breakfast - simply delicious and everything you could possibly want from delicious fresh bread to homemade jams, cereal and hot chocolate for the kids, selection of yoghurts and the most astonishing charcuterie and cheese board first thing in the morning. Superb!
Cons: Would be great if you could walk to a restaurant - but frankly that is being picky!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, pool with toys for the kids, amazing breakfast and fantastic hosts. Family room is also brilliant with a separate bedroom for the kids.
Cons: Nothing. It is perfect.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole experience was worth 10. The only drawback was no evening food but having googled to find out about evening eating I took a picnic and small bottle of wine and had an enjoyable evening. I would most certainly return.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: For a B&B the place is great. Marina is wonderful and even though she does not speak English she is doing her best to help and make you feel comfortable. The place has 4 to 5 rooms in total, during our stay there was no further reservation so we had the entire place for us - the house also includes an equipped kitchen and a nice seating area. Btw, not all rooms have their own bathroom. Our room was clean, the area was very nice and quiet, Marina was very helpful, breakfast was delicious. We have very much enjoyed our stay.
Cons: The check-in can be done only from 17.30 - we have arrived earlier and there was nobody to receive us. So we had to leave and return after 17.30. The location is very nice, however from the town it's about a 10 min walk over a street without lights.

Pros: Location just off the Autoroute was great as a stop off although next time we will stay longer and take friends as it is so fabulous and lots too see locally. Right in the heart of Champagne country, there are routes to take in Chaeau's and vineyards, had a lovely evening stroll along the Seine which is very close by. The house is homely and rooms exquisitely renovated. Our hosts were helpful, offered us wine and water on arrival. Breakfast really nice. The pool was an added bonus on the hottest day France has ever seen, 42 degrees. We had a swim at 10pm before getting into our comfy bed. Garden was lovely with stunning views. Cannot rate this highly enough.
Cons: We loved everything!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: This property is a little gem! Mme. Poli is a delight, so welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room is beautifully converted from former stables, very roomy, comfortable and well appointed. Madame’s excellent Tate is manifest in all the added extras e.g. in the bathroom ( where there is a splendid walk-in shower ). She provided a wonderful dinner, cooked to order; and the breakfast was wonderful, easily the best we have ever had in France. Montigny les monts is a little off the beaten track, and there is nothing else in the village. But it is within easy reach of Troyes , and the A5 motorway. A really lovely stop-over.
Cons: Nothing we didn’t like!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful B&B, lovely family room, tasty breakfast and very helpful and friendly host. Highly recommended!
Cons: We loved everything about this place!
7.0 Good
Pros: The house is beautifully located and the room was very spacious and clean. Good craft beers for sale/self-service in the kitchen. The breakfast would have been nice...
Cons: ..., but it was unfortunately completely spoiled for us after we had been scolded like little kids that we had left the lights on in the common room the night before (repeat and emphasis on: the WHOLE night). As we were only staying for one night, there was no point in educating us how to do it properly so it won't happen again, but apparently it was important to let us know we were guilty. That the light in the common room is on a 5-minute timer (french: minuterie, a word I didn't know before, but now will never forget) but it can be switched to permanent on as the owner explained to me lengthily the evening before (first in French, which I didn't understand, and then in English, when I thought I understood). We felt quite uneasy during the entire stay as it was made quite clear in the 10 min introductory tour through the house and room that the kids (1.5 and 4 years old) who were happy to be out of the car and were excited to explore the new hotel room after 6 hours of driving should not run around later when the other guests are back from dinner and they shouldn't touch the mugs and shouldn't interrupt while the owner is giving important information to mommy and daddy. -The doorlock/handle of the room was somewhat loose so we had some trouble unlocking the door. -Background music for breakfast (I think it was the pan flute version of Titanic)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was very good with a nice variety. The homemade jams were a hit. Spacious room. Friendly staff. Nice location. The owner could not do enough to ensure that an alternative was found for the evening meal.
Cons: Communication about the unavailability of an evening meal on the night that we arrived.

6.8 Good
Pros: The place was very clean
Cons: No fan or aircon in the room and we couldn't have the doors open because there were no fly nets and other people staying there had a dog which kept trying to come in the room. 3 other people arrived last night and their kids were running up and down the decking outside our room at 5.30am, there is no privacy from other people staying here
6.8 Good
Pros: Close to autoroute
Cons: Limited check in time : extra charge after 1900 of 20 Euros not made explicit at the time of booking Breakfast : 10 euros per head, no discount for our 3 or 6 year old is a bit tight
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was the second time staying at this hotel. I used this hotel as a stop off point while traveling to the south of France from the UK. I got to check out the local area on my second visit and was very impressed and would return to see more of the area. The hotel is very clean and comfortable and breakfast was great (extra cost but worth it).
7.5 Good
Pros: The rooms were fine
Cons: No door between bathroom and bedroom is definitely not to our taste . No air con. Lovely big TVs but only French channels. Very odd approach to guests, especially breakfast.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A great deal of thought and investment has gone into making the Cosy Wood House an excellent place to stay to either visit the Aube or in transit whilst travelling through France. Materials and furnishings are of the highest quality and nearly every detail considered to make your stay comfortable (only bathmats and hairdryers would have been nice). Otherwise, a quiet, comfortable and chic place to stay with a great table football machine. And very good value for money.
Cons: As mentioned - a bathmat and hairdryer would be nice additions.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent facilities.
Cons: A blind or working shutter to cover full length window in the bathroom.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Well presented, in a quiet location and modern. There was some building work at the rear but it didn't affect us as we were there on a Saturday night.
Cons: Not too easy to find even with a satnav.
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: Property not easy to locate but when you find it, you’ll be disappointed. Bit of a building site and we didn’t feel safe. Hope you’re not looking for a restaurant, cafe, bar or shop - nothing around.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: This is an independent house with three bedrooms. An old building but with plenty of character and well loved nestled in a beautiful village. Pierre was a fantastic host waiting up to let us in at midnight having had a delayed ferry crossing. We also really enjoyed his breakfast of locally sourced hams and cheese, fresh bread from the baker and home grown organic apples. Such a nice contrast to the typical chain hotel groups. Would thoroughly recommend if you want to really feel like you are staying in France.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host kind and cordial. The house lovely. The village most interesting.
Cons: Nothing. The stay was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked how clean the rooms were, and how meticulous and we'll looked after, the whole place was, The host Pierre was fantastic, greeted us, he was warm and inviting, with a smile, as if we were old friends coming over. He explained everything to us and answered questions and even made some suggestions. Breakfast was in the kitchen, charming area where the floor is original along, with some very nice pieces of furniture, handed down. Marmalades were home made, the bread was all biological, the cheese was local (which had a beautiful taste and texture), and some butter and ham, loved everything. Coffee was freshly brewed, and everything was served by Pierre, an exceptional, well travelled and knowledgeable person, with very good English, could have talked with him for days. Also you can see and feel that he just loves what he is doing Its close to Essoyes, Renoir's summer house and studio, and the middle of the champagne region. Pleasant and comfortable stay, exceptionally perfect.!!!

Pros: .
Cons: Lack of choice of restaurants just a poor pizzeria in the village. Difficult staircase to bedrooms .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property has a delightful cottage garden, perfect for a late nightcap on a summer evening. Pierre and his wife were charming, and breakfast was delicious, local ingredients and beautifully presented.
Cons: One of the bedrooms shared a bathroom, something we were aware of when we booked, so was not a real problem. However the bathroom was a long way from the bedroom, on a different floor, which was not so convenient. Having said that, it did not spoil our stay and would not deter us from visiting again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent stay! Welcoming host, very clean and cosy.

Pros: The comfortable bed, the option to place our bikes in a closed shed, Pierre's knowledge of the surroundings and our talks about various other topics since he is a well traveled person.

Pros: The evening meal was excellent and the owners of the B&B were very welcoming. A beautifully restored property In a peaceful village, yet very accessible to the motorway system It was ideal for a one night stopover, before continuing our journey to the French Alps.
Cons: Minor issue, soap to be provided in the bathroom.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Lovely room. Very friendly hosts. Great location near a river where we swam. Close to the motorway but very peaceful location. We didn’t realise breakfast was included so that was a bonus.
Cons: No good restaurants/ eateries very close by. We should have booked the excellent looking evening meal the hosts were offering but we didn’t read the email before we arrived!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. We decided to book in to break the journey up back to the UK after a weeks skiing in the Alps. We opted for the evening meal and we could not fault the quality of the food or the service. Breakfast was also perfect. We will definitely be making this a regular stop off for our future holidays to France. We have to say our children made a new best friend in Oxy the 7 month old Boxer!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: beautiful property that we used for a one night stop over. The room was well appointed and the bed big and comfortable. The grounds were large and secluded (like the property) and you could wander at will. Breakfast was fine. English was limited so you have to rely on your schoolboy french
Cons: everything was fine - nothing to carp about

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I originally used the hotel as a stopover 6 years previously, and liked it enough to want to spend a little longer there. Very comfortable, good food and lovely staff - very human, and sometimes just that little bit imperfect! It's not a dramatic location, but the town/village is certainly worth exploring, and there are some lovely, and unexpected walks in the woods close by. A little further afield, there's the Morvan to explore, as well as places like Vézélay. Though the hotel itself is very modern - and shows no sign of becoming dilapidated, the feeling is that of an old-fashioned family business.
Cons: The food rates from good to excellent. My one niggle is that, whereas six years previously, I had been gratified to rediscover an old-fashioned form of French cooking, this time a certain fussiness had crept in which occasionally spoilt the essential simplicity of what was otherwise very good indeed.
7.5 Good
Pros: breakfast was fine
Cons: room was a bit noisy as located by reception. other rooms should be fine if booked away from reception
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice clean room. Good explanation of how to work blinds, aircon, etc. Brilliant meal & lovely setting at back of hotel. Chaource itself a delight, especially the church - an absolute jewel.
Cons: Not enough staff. Only 2 appeared to be on duty when we arrived, both of whom were busy with customers in the restaurant! We had a long wait until my husband lost patience & went to find them.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: friendly staff, warm room, good food. I was very happy to stay here for the second time
Cons: A bit more choice on the menu would be nice, but what I ate was very good.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent staff, super welcome, well-designed facilities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely family run hotel. Very warm welcome. Room was spacious and bed comfortable. Restaurant is great too and quite busy with locals which is always a good sign.
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Other than the full wall glass patio doors leading to the balcony nothing really stood out, but the stay was generally very good. One advantage for us was that someone spoke English.
Cons: On check in, and particularly check out, we had to play "hunt the receptionist". On the balcony, the dividers between the balconies were clear glass. Frosted glass would have provided much more privacy.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Used it as a stopover on route from Calais to the south of France.Situated on the edge of a small village with ample free outside parking or a secure underground car park.Well appointed bedroom with balcony.Had evening meal on restaurant terrace with very good food menu and wine list.Standard small French hotel breakfast with fresh food, juices and coffee the following morning.Freindly, accomodating staff.Overall a very pleasant experience, would definitely use it again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Modern hotel with good sized bedrooms and en suites. Very nice restaurant with terrace. Good selection of food and wines. Underground car park.

Pros: Excellent room and food. Real gourmet experience! Better every time we stay there.
Cons: Nothing
5.0 Okay
Pros: Good location in a pretty little village
Cons: It didn’t start well. When I arrived I was told to wait whilst the receptionist finished what she was doing on a computer. No eye contact.. nothing.. and quite a wait. As a hotel I had expected something more especially at €160 for the room. No drinking water and no blinds on any of the windows, even in the bathroom which was why all the curtains were shut in the room when I got there in the afternoon. Clear glass in a bathroom window is unacceptable. There was no internet in the room which I needed, they insisted 4 times there was and was advertised but finally agreed there was none but said it was ok because I could use internet in the bar.the bar was basic with a flat screen tv blaring out which was why no one was there, so I thought. I ordered a glass of wine but it was suggested that I try the champagne. It came in the smallest glass I’ve ever seen. Half the size of a champagne flute(125cl) so maybe 60-70 cl( 4 or 5 tablespoons!) Since I saw a half bottle of their champagne for €8.50 on the shelf I ordered one. I couldn’t remain in the bar because if the noise of the tv so went to the lacklustre small lounge which was also was the walkway to other bedrooms. The restaurant is next door and atmospheric but the 39€ menu was uninspired. The following morning I discovered that I had been charged €7 for my eggcup of champagne and the €8.50 half bottle of their champagne had turned into €17.50( I was told the advertised price was to buy and take away so I was charged €9 extra for corkage... more than 100%!! Ironically I was there to buy champagne but as you can imagine , I paid and left then went 5 mins up the road and filled my car with someone else’s champagne. Poor customer experience and they lost out on a big sale because of it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was extraordinary - beautifully decorated, spacious, and comfortable. Large bathroom which was great, and with a spa bath! The staff were all very courteous and friendly. The meal at the restaurant was excellent, and we would recommend sampling the house Champagne (made by the owners!).
Cons: The room didn't have tea/coffee making facilities - but as we were only staying one night it didn't really matter, and in comparison with the comfort of the room, it is a tiny point!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful restaurant in the cave, lovely local champagne.
Cons: Service in the restaurant was quite slow but didn't matter for us.
7.0 Good
Pros: At breakfast, there was no milk, hot or cold. And no cereals. And no staff member to make easy contact to ask. So I did without. And the brioche bread was stale and drying out.
Cons: In my room (Room 2), when I first went into the bathroom there was a bad smell of sewage / drains, I think coming from the shower drain. Not good.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room, building and staff. Lovely area and village. We got the suite which was amazing with the old wooden beams.
Cons: Because of the time of the year a lot of lorries, vans and tractors passed the small road past the hotel which made it a little noisy early in the morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good value for Money, lovely staff and great location. The Town is beautiful.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Handy stop on the way to Italy, huge room, good bathroom, pleasant staff. Restaurant food was excellent in a lovely cellar space.
Cons: No bidet, lock on door very hard to use.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The place was lovely in a lovely village perfect for stopping off on the way down to Italy or France
Cons: Rooms could do with Air Conditioning
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Initial impression was disappointing but rooms are excellent, family run hotel gives the personal touch, they went out of their way to please, dinner in the evening in the cellar was superb. Will definitely go again and highly recommend this hotel for those who can afford the best.
Cons: Had asked for twin beds but got two doubles
