staff were great, especially very helpful receptionist. accommodation was clean and well catered. unfortunately no restaurant or bar in the evening but the pool is lovely.
Accommodation good standard, walking distance to pretty riverside restaurants. Check in was horrendous, waited over 2 hours for the apartment to be ready. It appeared that those staying for a week or more were given priority. The receptionist said that check in was from 17.00 despite the information on the confirmation and their own literature available in the reception area saying 16.00, eventually got to the room at 18.30. The exterior stairs to our upper room were wet and dangerous, there were no warning signs and my elderly mother slipped and fell down several steps. Rubbish bins at entrance of site very smelly and give a very poor impression.
The look of the hotel the bathroom
Good value. Clean hotel. Friendly staff.
The toilet facilities in that they were in a cubicle all together resulting in a wet toilet after a shower
The staff, breakfast, daily changing of towels and bed linen Its quite a bit from La Rochelle and car hire is recommended. The bus service however is more than adequate.
Our stay was alright was disappointed when the receptionist wouldn't arrange coffee for us not good
We stayed in this hotel as we had an early morning flight from La Rochelle airport. The rooms are an adequate size for an overnight stay, they are clean. The hotel is located on an industrial estate out La Rochelle. Suitable for our requirements. Value for money.
Clear, near to the port, little pool:o) In the centre of comercial zone.
very spacious no nearby shops for food
The breakfast was lovely. Unfortunately it was noisy and we could hear next door on both sides clearly.
The Pool, the cleanliness of the room and the breakfast all the rest: the sanitary is really small, the kindness of the reception staff was missed, the cleanliness of the surroundings and the location of the Hotel is horrible!
Family room for up to 5 people - good value for money. Very friendly/helpful staff on reception Family room would be a little small for longer stays
Ocean view was great. Breakfast was pretty good. Bit over-priced. Beach 10 min walk away. Hotel was a little bit run-down. Could be a lot nicer.
staff at the reception are fantastic.. they speak english well to communicate with us. where other hotels we had to try real hard to communicate in french and they didnt even try their english. the staff at the restaurant was pooring, we waited for 40mins and still didnt get no service.. it wasnt busy at all for them.. only 25% tables were taken. they really let the quality of the hotel right down. food wasnt too brillant either.. so we eat out on the next night instead. The branch in Brest airport is better by far in comparision to this one..
Our room was a decent size and we could walk out of our patio doors onto grass at the top of a cliff overlooking the sea (however the tide was out til approx 4pm most days). We were right next to the pool and the staff were very friendly. Very nice beach. We did take a trip to St Martin which is approx half hour drive away and that was beautiful, lots of little bars and restaurants overlooking the marina, definately worth a trip. The location of the hotel spoilt our stay. There wasn't much around. Approx 30 to 40 minutes to the sea front where you would find restaurants, no stand alone bars, just restaurants. It was extremely windy when we went (August 2010) but that may have just been a one-off but overall the hotel was nice and clean and spacious.
Very pleasant staff and good location if you want to escape from the hustle and bustle of the centre of the town
Comfortable bed. Clean room. Access to cliff path. Polite manager. Ample parking. Pleasant lawns. Caged swimming pool. Small, hard pillow. Poor breakfast service.Found on Isle de Re web site and annoyed not on Isle de Re as this was why we chose hotel.. Advertised cost of room 100 euros but charged 110. Advertised as room with country view but actual view was big tree and car park. Some guest reviews accurate for some of our experiences.
Good to have tea and coffee facilities ~ very welcome. Sadly you couldn't take us last night and we had to stay at the Ibis instead ~ not nearly as good and we won't stay there again ~ at least, not if you can accommodate us!
excellent location - very clean - excellent staff - relaxing and comfortable hotel.
the peacefulness the price per night is excessive for room only accomadation
We thought the view from the room was magnificent. The meals were reasonably priced and good quality. The staff were friendly and helpful. The way the sun shone on the faces of the diners in the evening in the restaurant was a bit unpleasant - might have been nice to have some shades.
STaff were efficient. Beds and floor were clean. Mildew on the ceiling. There were four of us 2 adults and 2 children and I had indicated that in the Reservation request on the web. However when I got to the room there were only 2 singles plus one pull out bed. So that led to less than comfortable night. Web site was mis-leading from that perspective. I assumed that I had booked a room for 4 I.E. 3 standard beds and one pull out bed.
Handy for main road. Easy access, commercial centre nearby. Noisy road, basic rooms, expensive for accommodation provided.Restaurant food quality poor for price.
Good breakfast although a bit to efficient at clearing away. Terrible directions and got very lost. Must have more signs travelling from Nantes to La Rochelle.
proximity to centre of La Rochelle nothing
The staff were very pleasant but accommadation was very cramped and basic, if our stay was longer than one night we would not have stayed there. see above
Reasonably peaceful location for a Campanile Hotel
Very friendly and helpful. Since we do not speak or understand very much French, it was very helpful to have menus, etc. in English. Also, the free wifi was a nice benefit. It was a bit difficult getting the luggage to our room on the top floor.
The table lamp was broken and a very poor attempt had been made to repair rather than replace it. A good deal of dust was found on various surfaces. Location very difficult to find - poor directions.
The hotel served the purpose of an overnight stay, without frills, on my journey through France
the tree growing outside my room !
Friendly staff, great views. No menu in english
the location was very good, but parking was on road, might be a problem in high season Not enough pillows
very clean and modern facilties
location very small rooms for 3 people
smelly drains in bathroom
It's Ibis, so you know what to expect: clean rooms, small but clean bathroom with shower and bathtub, no extras but the basics are just fine. The restaurant at the hotel itself offered quite mediocre and even poor dishes at medium cost. The staff were nice but I doubted their competence when it came to serving food. When I mentioned part of my dish was clearly overcooked, they just smiled and walked away.
We liked the position, the views and there was plenty of parking space. The buffet for entrees - the spoon handles had fallen into the food.
Very welcoming atmosphere, lovely village and the most comfortable bed ever in a hotel.
Wonderful hotel beautiful location, all the little finishing touches just right. Great concept fantastic breakfast, the best we had in France.
The decor of the rooms and the view from our room in particular was excellent looking out over the canal with a detached cottage on the opposite side nestled in amongst trees.
This is a refreshingly different hotel with contemporary design and a positive approach to the environment.the breakfast featured some fine local produce such as home made yoghurt.
A perfect setting for a break, the ambiance, peace and quiet were really relaxing. This hotel is a little gem, no wonder it's often fully booked. The staff were pleasant and helpful.
the closeness to the beach
Excellent location and friendly staff in a lovely town.
staff excellant very helpful.Location. Restaurant Food very good, Room decor past sell-by date, small,. outdated fittings
Friendly helpful Staff. Convenient to Beach. Room not soundproof. Noise could be disturbing at times
no restuarant open at weekends
Price of a bottle of water.. 4.40! 18cent in the supermarket!
Closeness to beach No car park
location Breakfast was very poor
The uncomplicated way the check-in and check-out took place
People were helpful, room was very nice and newly redecorated very tastefully.
Ease of location, informality, excellent food, peaceful setting, and genuine welcome extended by everyone we met.
We had a wonderful stay, very nice room, affordable priceshelpfull staff and a good restaurant
An attractive rural hotel close to a small town with a fine walk along the river The food in the restaurant was a disappointment
Spotlessly clean, well appointed, individual and extremely comfortable and welcoming I did not dislike anything. An excellent little hotel.
old mid 19th century house, recently refurbished, very good breakfast the restaurant offers a fixed menu if prior reservation is made. no other places to eat in the village
The welcome was as warm as the hotel, which in January was very important. We loved this hotel. Nothing.
Lovely setting. Good welcome. Menu presented to us in English which is always helpful and food was good. Nothing really to see or do in village itself.
A nicely appointed room, windows that opened wide, lovely large comfortable bed, high quality all-cotton bedlinen, and a superb shower; all very clean and very quiet; free wifi an excellent addition; hotel has off-street parking and the location is ideal for anyone wanting to explore La Rochelle, Saintes, Cognac, or the surrounding region. The food was good, but the set dinner menu at the hotel restaurant was expensive for the limited options it offered; the town has a good bakery for anyone wanting an alternative to the hotel's breakfast, but is without alternate restaurant facilities; that said, there are numerous restaurants in St-Jean-d'Angely, only a few miles away.
Quite typical french hotel in nice surroundings ,Good food at reasonable prices No lift to first floor could be difficult for people with large luggage but proprieter would carry cases if desired.
We liked the hotel location overlooking beautiful grounds. The hotel has a good, but limited and repetitive menu. Also, we found it difficult to carry cases passed a door at the top of the stairs, which opens over the stairs instead of the landing.
It was all good. There was no dinner provided but there was an arrangement with the Courtepaille next door - discount for hotel guests. All very satisfactory. It was a bit difficult to find - we went round in circles for a while and didn't see any helpful signs to guide us!
Good parking facilities near the main city access road, very helpful staff, a basic, comfortable room in a quiet location (quiet at night). You urgently need non-slip surfaces in both the bath and on the bathroom floor, a handrail adjacent to the bath would help for elderly and/or people with limited agility. This is essential.
Quiet, clean and comfortable There were no snack facilities for late arrivals
it was clean no tea and coffee facillitys in room, they supplied in foyer but expected you to make it from hot water tap
Clean and quiet even when full. Reception staff very helpful and accomodating. Description of hotel location misleading, it is on a trading estate and not in view of city walls.
The receptionist was not very welcoming. The room was filthy and smelt of cigarette fumes. The carpet was filthy. The bedspread had cigarette burn marks in it. Because it was on a corner the bathroom was very small. Changed rooms - not much better.
Reception staff are 1st class. Could do with a better map and directions from Airport.
difficult to find even with instructions
Convenient location for airport at La Rochelle, we used the hotel en-route to our destination, the facilities are clean and the staff friendly and efficient
