Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A spacious and beautifully presented apartment, in immaculate condition and with all facilities to hand. Beautiful location and just a few minutes drive from the attractive ancient town of Vierzon, situated on the River Cher. This apartment exceeded our expectations by a good margin and a sign of the owner's pride in his business is that he always took his shoes off when he entered the apartments - a small but significant indication of the quality of this accommodation.
Cons: I honestly cannot think of anything which could have been improved - a delightful place to stay.

Pros: Everything was perfect! Our host was lovely and provided us with lovely organic juices on our arrival. The accommodation had everything we needed with ensuite facilities and tea and coffee. We had beautiful fresh flowers in the room also. Everything was immaculate and it had a great hairdryer!! We had a lovely wee outdoor area to use and in the morning we were served homemade bread and organic jams etc with lovely music playing in the background. And as we left our host gave us a big bottle of cold water for our journey. Bourges is just the loveliest place to visit and we were situated right in the heart of it. Our host advised of good restaurants and places to visit and we were not disappointed! Excellent value for money and a great experience.
Cons: Faultless!!

Pros: Unique stay, one of the kind. Antony was fantastic and kind host. The house is true magic.
Cons: We liked everything!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely Home with comfortable bed and great hot water shower. However, you do have to go up stairs to get to the bedroom which if you’re 73 (like me) could be difficult. However! Antoine helped us move the suitcases up and down the stairs and so, it was no problem.
Cons: Breakfast(included in price) limited to fresh bread, croissants, coffee, tea, yogurt, fruit, butter and jam.

L'Oustal - Bourges - Building
4
9.5 Excellent (390 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Bourges, L'Oustal is within a 5-minute drive of Marais de Bourges and Palais de Jacques-Coeur. Featured amenities include coffee/tea in a common area and refrigerator in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: A lovely traditional property in walking distance to the town, with friendly , helpful staff. It was a lovely continental style breakfast, but I really prefer to have a savoury protein option - perhaps some quiche for ease.
Cons: I would generally prefer a duvet rather than blankets, but this could be due to the warm weather.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Appearance and comfort. Rooms are spacious and elegantly decorated.
Cons: Very noisy toilets. Although we understand that they will be upgraded shortly.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: L'Oustal is a beautiful old French house. It is wonderfully decorated and spotlessly clean. The hostess Magalie is excellent and really welcoming. She managed admirably with my lack of French language skills. I was provided with covered hard standing parking for my motorbike.
Cons: The hotel is close to the railway station but not in a comfortable residential area. However the hotel and grounds are secure
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very much enjoyed the whole experience of staying at this property, it feels really nice to stay in a classic house. The staff is very friendly and welcoming.
Cons: Everything was perfect.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful house and room and nice breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was great, the bed was so comfortable, the room was gorgeous, breakfast was good and plentiful and the shower was strong and very well appointed. Would definitely recommend it. Secure parking too - included in the price. Oh and there's a coffee lounge which has a range of teas and coffee that you can have, no extra charge. Its a beautiful building, very tastefully decorated.
Cons: Can't think of anything.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This was a beautiful old house recently refurbished by the young new owners. The rooms were very tastefully done in the period style of the house but with modern bathrooms, which to our delight had his and hers wash basins. Breakfast was set out in the dining room and came with fresh bread, croissants and homemade jams. A nice added touch was that next to the dining room was a “salon” where one could spend time and have a coffee or tea or even a glass of wine. Coffee and tea, as well as biscuits were provided. Bourges has a very old centre with a few nice restaurants, one of which is in a very old medieval street, called Bourbonnoux. All in all a good stopping place when one travels through France.
Cons: The plumbing in the bathrooms was modern and noisy. Installing modern plumbing in old properties can be difficult.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A stylish old mansion, very respectfully restored and decorated: beyond your standard hotel experience. Very friendly staff and fine breakfast. The B&B is about 15 minutes walking from the wonderful city center of Bourges with many nice restaurants. Recommended!
Cons: The direct surroundings (neighbourhood) of the house are not very welcoming.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great stay! The house is a jewel with every single room being different. The hosts are lovely and of great advices, they just started and you can feel this is meant for them! Lovely time I can only highly recommend it.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The property was beautiful. Lots of grassy area for our 5 year old to run and play. Our room had a terrace out back that was wonderful.
Cons: Everything was great. We did not realize that we could only pay in cash until we were leaving in the morning. We had to drive to town to get cash and bring it back to pay. Cash only was stated in the small print of a drop down menu on booking.com but it took me a bit to find it even after knowing it was there. I think it would be helpful if cash only was stated in the main property description since this is so unusual.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The most delicious breakfast. Homemade and local. You couldn't ask for a warmer welcome from both hostess and host, and dog too. The pool was an amazing bonus. Thank you
Cons: I wished we could have stayed longer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a great stay with our small puppy, we received good advice on places to visit and where to eat including assistance with a restaurant booking.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice location, super friendly host and very good breakfast. We were travelling through with a 4 month old baby for which a separate bed was foreseen. The swimming pool was very clean and was welcome after a hot day with 35°C.
Cons: The surrounding area of the swimming pool should be cleaned up a little bit.

Cons: There is nothing to dislike.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Bed was comfortable
Cons: Owner very late to greet us 5.30 and only after phone call to her. Place was grubby and we were in a very small room with awful bathroom. I’ve no idea why she’s displaying a booking.com 9.4!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Domaine de l'Ermitage is exceptional. Its clean modern décor and elegant furnishing has been achieved without losing its traditional character. A large comfortable bed, easy chairs and delightful cruck timbers blended easily in our spacious room. Our hostess was charming and welcoming. The breakfast was outstanding. A bonus was our common interest in cattle and wine.
Cons: It was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful, beautiful and pool was timely. Host was gracious and breakfast was well done.
Cons: Maybe some fans in the bedrooms
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful home in a country setting. The Hostess, Laurence, was welcoming and charming, much like her home! The breakfast is served in a beautiful room with candles and french antiques but with stylish modern touches that harmoniously blend. The delicious breads and crossants, homemade jams, yogurt, cheese, a homemade pudding all were delicious. At breakfast there was a guest that had been coming there for years as she has a house farther up along the route. In Europe, many 18th century places have been modernized and all the individuality and charm removed. Here, the past still lives, but has been beautifully updated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! A very beautiful place, with excellent comfortable rooms . Delicious breakfasts! Lovely gardens and a nice swimming pool. It is very close to Bourges, which is a lovely medieval city with a marvellous cathedral. Delightful hostess.
Cons: Nothing!

Pros: Very comfy bed, good hot water in the shower, tranquil with lovely grounds and a very substantial breakfast

Pros: Lovely room and very helpful owner.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The service was excellent - I knew that I would be arriving late and the host was very accommodating. The room was spacious, the standard of the decor and furnishings was high. The main benefit for me was the peaceful nature and quietness of the place. Breakfast was all that you need and attractively presented at the time I requested.
Cons: Reuilly is very quiet at night so make arrangements for dining separately.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Of the seven B&Bs we stayed on our trip to France, this was far and away the nicest. It is located in a quiet neighborhood with extensive grounds, a security gate, and lovely outdoor seating areas. Noemie is a wonderful host. She and her husband provided us with a delicious impromptu meal when we arrived late and tired. She was most gracious in every way imaginable from excellent suggestions on the area to providing dining materials when we brought our own food. There is a microwave and kitchen for guest use. The room(#1) was spacious and well-equipped. The bathroom was very nice with an excellent shower. Everything was immaculate. The breakfast was a typical French breakfast, but it was all fresh and delicious.
Cons: Not a thing.

Pros: Lovely welcoming place to stay. Terrific rooms, decor and style excellent. Lots of useful info from Bruno who hosted a lovely dinner for guests one evening.
Cons: Breakfast was lovely, but perhaps could have offered a bit more variety for the cost.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Charming and friendly hosts whose good English made my appalling French inconsequential.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: If you were to be an honoured guest in a traditional country house this is what you would experience. Absolute luxury with such careful attention to detail and a warm and caring welcome. Such things are beyond price but in comparison with hotels of this standard, the cost here is very small.
Cons: Nothing

8.3 Excellent
Pros: A lovely old mill in nice grounds. The staff were very friendly and helpful The old mill is still there to look at
Cons: The rooms had no air conditioning and were very hot No hair dryer in the room. Probably the worst was the noise from the rooms above. It is a traditional building with beamed ceilings wooden floor boards and no insulation. Even when the people above were moving slowly you could hear every step
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A great family room, plenty of space, safe parking and very close to the autoroute junction made it ideal for a stop off on our way south
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pascal the host was lovely and friendly, she let our daughter feed her chickens which she was very excited about. The dinner was delicious. The location is beautiful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was just off the autoroute which saved time. Kitchen facilities were really useful. Athmosphere was relaxed. We bought a bottle of wine there to go with our meal so overall a great experience
Cons: A noisy guest may disturb others easily as there's not a lot of sound proofing but this did not impact our stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very convenient to the autoroute but it felt like we were in the countryside miles from anywhere. When we arrived we asked where we could eat as we weren't in the town. Pascale offered us an evening meal for 20 euros each including wine and it was really good home cooked food. We ate with another family in the large dining area of the mill. The bedroom was great - old beams and old furniture in keeping with the building's age but the bathroom was very modern (shower only) with beautiful views of the river (and some swans in the morning!). Breakfast was really good too.
Cons: We had to leave after 1 night but would have liked to stay longer.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The bathroom is very modern and clean. The owner is friendly and available, trys to give the maximum hospitality.
Cons: For the single traveler, It's a little expensive.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: A really comfortable room. The breakfast was superb being nearly all home-made by our friendly and helpful host.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful selection at breakfast, could not do it justice at 8am Homemade breads & jams, cake, yoghurt, cheese, ham, fruit juice, pancakes, croissants & top ups of coffee & tea. The biggest bonus was that it was included in the room price. We had booked the 4person suite purely for the extra space just for my wife & I, but at short notice we rang to ask for the sofa-bed to be made up as my sister decided to travel home with us, it was absolutely no trouble for our hostess & we were only charged an extra €25 & that also included the vast breakfast. Excellent value for this very clean well situated B & B & fab Pizza restaurant just around the corner, will definitely stay here again as we did not have time to visit the Cathedral.
Cons: Nothing at all!
7.9 Good
Pros: Very personal service from the moment of check in. Cute interiors (loved how every room was designed differently by color) and homey vibe. Breakfast was well prepared all by the host, Audrey — especially the rice pudding! Shower was very comfortable. We loved that the rooms had AC.
Cons: We didn’t like the pillows (they were too flat), and we’d prefer a more sustainable option for amenities instead of single use sachets.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room was nicely decorated and very comfortable, and the shower had a good supply of hot water. Audrey--the host--made a wonderful petit-dejeuner each morning and also graciously arranged for a cab to the train station the day I left.
Cons: It would have been nice to be closer to the center of town, but it was only a 10 minute walk.
7.9 Good
Pros: Spacious room with excellent breakfast making it very good value. Good locality to Bourges centre.
Cons: Concern that the stairwell which was over three floors did not have any fire barriers. We had a room on the third floor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room had a suite with couch. Breakfast was excellent - home made pastries and bread.
Cons: Check in time limited to between 17:00-20:00

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Extra effort to provide service, comfort, even history during our stay
5.4 Okay
Pros: Breakfast food was home made and good.
Cons: Located in a beautiful "hôtel particulier" i.e. mansion, occupied by present owner. I understand the owner's private area was restored and must be very beautiful, unfortunately the B&B rooms, at least the one we had was shabby. It needed a good bit of paint, the furniture were an amalgamation of old (rather derelict and unmatching) presumed "antiques". Bed without a head rest . Very disappointing in spite of the staff and owner's effort to sugar the pill. Ridiculous breakfast table laid out with every piece of china and silver available (about 8 sugar bowls, 2 cups of tea coffee per person, rows of cheap decanters, the whole thing ostentatious and manipulative.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast in a wonderful and historic room.
Cons: For us as a couple in their seventies we would have preferred a proper shower rather than having to climb into the bath for showering
6.7 Good
Pros: Nice experience in a beautiful property but on arrival were told the communal areas were closed for the owners private dinner and were not advised on booking and we were looking forward to seeing more of the house so disappointed to say the least. Room was lovely but very small for a stately home and £140 very over priced for just to be told we couldn’t share the rest of the house... had we known this on booking we would not have booked... maybe bad luck ..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place was amazing. Great room/apartment and the best breakfast I had in my life. Also quite child friendly. So sad we stayed only one night.
7.5 Good
Pros: Lovely old- if a little dilapidated- building- super location
Cons: Bathroom could have been better-remains of shampoo and shower gel - while I believe in recycling it could have been done better
7.1 Good
Pros: Historical
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This glorious historical hotel in the heart of Bourges, overlooked by the cathedral, enchanted. Our night in the Marquis de Tristan suite was magical - an upgrade we had certainly not expected - and the large comfortable bed and antique ambience of this hotel which one enters through a porch under which Joan of Arc crossed, will long be remembered. Home made cakes and jams for breakfast. What more could we ask for?
Cons: Nothing

Our host was very enthousiastic and gave us a good tip for a fine restaurant nearby. We had a wonderful meal there. When we left we forgot one of our bags and the hosts were so nice to return it to us by mail.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: A lovely old hotel, very well renovated, in a great old city location. Bourges itself was a wonderful surprise. We had set it up as a way stop between Limoges and Orleans, but discovered it to be one of the best stops on a two-month journey around southern France, a beautifully restored and preserved mediaeval town. The hotel and the city come highly recommended.
Cons: Not a thing, though the elevator did act up to a lesser amount of weight than its rating, a minor quibble at best.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: overall value for money and location
Cons: would prefer a room at front of the building, as I'd requested, but which got overlooked unfortunately

Pros: Superb find. Not much else in the village but this establishment is a gem. Simple, almost minimalist, rooms but smart & adequate. The restaurant is in a class of its own, beautifully presented & tasty French dinner served with Japanese perfection, style & manners. Easy private parking.
Cons: Stayed only one stopover night - will spend longer next time to enjoy the hotel & explore the surrounding vineyards.

Pros: A 3 stars hotel in middle of nowhere. The restaurant and hotel is run by a Japanese couple who take the challenge of running this place in 2011. Both hotel decoration and food are excellent.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful apartment, exceptionally clean, tidy and very well equipped. Very comfortable bed and great shower - always a necessity when travelling.
Cons: We only stopped in Vierzon to break up our travel from Bruges to Spain. Vierzon doesn't offer the tourist very much. We walked through the small town and back to our accommodation in a short space of time. The accommodation is actually an old people's home renting out empty apartments. We were surprised and unaware that this was the case on booking. The staff didn't speak English and we experienced some difficulty getting out of the property for our walk because it's quite secure!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel with plenty of parking and an excellent location just outside town.
Cons: It was all good.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very conveniently located just off the autoroute but still very quiet. Good size clean rooms and shower rooms. Comfortable beds. The fridge in the breakfast area with free soft drinks was an exceptional bonus. As it was a warm we loved the outside dining for the evening meal.
Cons: The evening meal wasn't too good. Service was slow but to be fair, a large party had got in just before us. Lighting was by candlelight and as we didn't get our main meal till fairly late it was very hard to see what we were eating so had to use the torches on our phones. However, although the meal and lighting were unexpectedly poor it didn't detract from the enjoyment of our stopover and we would definitely stay again but would avoid the Captain's salad! chips though were brilliant!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable, clean and welcoming - with a super restaurant
Cons: Very minor - not the strongest WiFi
