the tranquility of the whole area the internet was not available as stated
Beautiful Chateau, very friendly staff. It was nice to be out in the quite countryside. My kids enjoyed petting the donkey and horse.
the place was great rooms were big and clean we had a bedroom plus a big sitting room it was lovely
The location was peaceful and quiet and the chateau was charming. It was a drive to restaurants and we were not aware that you could arrange to eat there.
The location, castle and room were fantastic.
location was easy access, hotel authentic wewre not told it was cash only, nobody to greet us,no tea and coffee facilities, after a long drive we were gagging,no toiletries, only one chair to sit on,breakfast abysmal,no milk for cereal/tea and coffee.had to get my own from the car.very expensive for what you got
We used it as a base for the Game Fair
We had a huge suite (two large bedrooms with huge adjoining bathroom) as a family room. Nice period decoration and furniture, lots of character - felt very chateau-like! Quiet location even though relatively close (5 mins) to motorway intersection. Large grounds for exercising our kids and dog! Agree that this hotel is 'tucked away' and not easy to find - it is about 5km from Vouzon village and the GPS could not find it on the quoted address. Google maps found it though. Would be helpful to provide GPS coordinates when more specific address not available. Not accepting credit cards is a negative.
great location as a stop over on way to south France. We were charged more than the amount quoted when booking on the basis that we were allocated a 'suite' on arrival.
A place out of time in the middle of the forest, ideal to get away from it all - very special !
The children enjoyed the golf facilities
The environment and the staff politeness. Not to get my room at my arrival time, 1 p.m, even if it was precised on the booking receipt.
We stayed here in a cottage for one night with a toddler as a stop from London to Montpellier. It was great to be able to put the toddler to bed upstairs and then cook ourselves dinner downstairs without disturbing her. The room was clean. The swimming pool was clean and warm for a post-breakfast dip in the morning before another day in the car.
The food was excellent in restaurant, views across golf course, bedrooms and price of overnight stay. The slow service in the restaurant.
Outdoor pool,if small was nice. Luckily the hotel was not busy. The attached Spa was not included, despite the feeling that it was from the website. Cottage rooms are not really for 4 people, but 1 night was fine. Too much noise caused by tiled floor!
Reception staff was helpful; we got a cottage at a better location than the one we first got (close to parking and road) when we asked for it. Cleanliness could be better, cottage equipped only basically.
Nice setup and facilities. Bathroom moldy.
Cottage was a good size for a family of 4
easilly accessible location, staff OK food very common and restricted breakfast offer (few over cooked pastries and pre-packed cheese - pretty disappointing). open wine of very poor quality. very uncomfortable mattress.
We felt that it met our needs as a pure stop-over location. It was handy for the autoroute, had a pool and dining facilities.
On arrival, we were told we could not dine in the castle because a wedding was taking place. The hotel bar has several drinks listed on their menu that were no longer available. Finally, the rooms had only baths with no shower except for a hand-held one for which no shower rail was available.
Beautiful Hotel.Fabulous setting. Food was expensive and is supposed to be gastronomic, it wasn't. Service was poor. Near main road so get rooms at back of hotel.
Attractive building with interesting furnishings and in a spectacular location. The food was very good and the staff attentive. There were very few staff on duty and we needed to find someone to serve a drink before dinner.
Friendly helpful staff. Superb evening meal. Good parking.
The setting in the woods and the hospitality from the pesonnel.
Excellent location on the way South, with a good restaurant
Very nice dinner at the restaurant; good value, quality Rooms were simple, not well equipped by today's standards.
Lovely bathroom. Good restaurant - fairly priced. Travelling with our dog and they were very accommodating. Room was up in the hotel attic which made it seem rather small. Toilet was very small - stuck in the eaves and in need to redecoration (hole in the wall). Asked to change room - happy to pay extra to upgrade - but they were full.
We had a gorgeous room in this B&B and the couple who owned it were fantastic - very helpful and genuinely nice people.
The room was really nice and the people very friendly. We were advised to go to a restaurant in the village only to find it was closed every Monday which was the day we were there. Having said that we would happily return if in the area.
Our room was very comfortable and clean. The owner was very friendly and helpful with suggestions for places to visit and recommendations for places to eat. It was a great base to explore the many chateaux of the region. A very enjoyable few days stay. We would certainly return if we were in this region again.
