Our two bedroom unit was very spacious and very comfortable. We had a ground floor unit with a large lanai. The kitchen was tiny , but quite sufficient. We had a lot of privacy and enjoyed our stay.
We stayed in a two bedroom suite (family 2 adults 2 children) The room definately needs updated. THe carpet was extremely dirty and just needed replaced. The window blinds were broken non functional and missing many pieces. The window in our bathroom didnt shut and we got alot of noise from other guests early in the moring because of it. The washer and dryer were nice to have as well as the extra bathroom. But the locaton was also a problem we had to drive long distances for everything. We were not impressed with the kings shops very over priced with little selection. Stop in Kona and do your shoping. The concierge was wonderful. He had a desk out at the pool he gave us wonderful advise on excursions, maps other personal tips. He was by far the best concierge we have ever delt with.
Not impressed. This place was cheap for a reason. Towels - so bleached out they were crispy. Carpet - so old & stained I didn't want to take my shoes off. All blinds were broken or just didn't cover the windows. I was on the ground floor so I felt like everyone could see me. I didn't feel safe. Ants in the bathrooms. Rust on the bathroom faucets. Bed was a like a hard table with sheets. Dish soap in kitchen was watered down. Thin walls, I could hear the unit upstairs flush.Their early shower woke me up. This is a beautiful location, too bad it's so run down.
We have stayed in several hotels on the island and this was our first condo experience. For the Waikoloa location and peak season, this was a good value. Staff was friendly at checkin and checkout. The unit was a 2BDR/2BA. Overall clean and furnished with an island flair. Master bedroom with king bed was a bit hard, and 2nd bedroom had twin beds which made the room somewhat smallish and one had to lean against the bed to access the closet. Master bath had extra large shower with double sinks, while 2nd bedroom had an oversize soaking tub. Both bedrooms had television with cable, and living area had HDTV with VCR. Kitchen appliances could stand upgrading but were clean and operable. Lanai was large and comfortable. Gated security entrance. Safe was available in the room for an additional charge. Dining and shopping close within walking distance. After this stay, we tried a condo at Kolea which was highly overrated in terms of amenities. No contact or greeting at Kolea while the Shores had on site staff. NO maid service at Kolea for 10 nights, while the Shores offered DAILY maid service with fresh towels and trash takeout. I mention this because Kolea required you take out trash and wash any towels over one per guest while the Shores provided this service daily. What kind of vacation is that? Kolea is on ABay beach, but the Shores has access to the same beach within a short walk. For value, I would recommend consideration of the Shores if you are interested in a condo in Waikoloa.
We stayed in a one bedroom condo. The first condo we had was not well equipped and we moved to another after two days. Probs: no view, no hair dryer, very few dishes, no safety mat in bath rm, no DVD or CD player, no radio, no TV in bedrm. The next condo was pretty good. Had the DVD player, but no TV in the bedrm. We like to stay at the Shores because the condos are usually great, the housekeeping is very good and the Waikoloa area is less crowded and closer to the beaches we like.\n\nThe front desk was quick to remedy our problems, although there is a heirarchy and keep asking until someone can take care of your problems.\n\nThe exercise room is OK. It is small but does have weights and treadmills. They need to monitor the kids. If they aren't going to exercise they have no business running around, screaming and being a nuisance.
The hospitality of the staff was outstanding and the room was better. Our 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo was about as big as our house. I would not hesitate to go back!
This hotel was great. Our condo was newly furnished and the bed was extremely comfortable. It is a distance from Kona but we are used to driving so that didn't really matter. Pack some food to take advantage of the fully equipt kitchen. Also, we went home with a suitcase full of clean clothes because of the free washer/dryer. The air conditioner was a little strange but not a big deal because we were usually out sight seeing.
This condo was great! I think that ours was newly refinished because it had nice laminate flooring, new furniture, a nice large double head shower and a wonderfully comfortable bed with a memory foam top. It couldn't be better. A nice walk from the King's Shops, although we found that we were usually driving to Kona, abtou a 1/2 hour away. Hapuna Beach is a short drive away and you can walk easily o the Hilton and sightsee. The front desk was friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again and again.
Units: HUGE, super clean and fully equipped in every way. Could?ve used updated furnishings but everything was immaculate.Staff: super friendly and accommodatingGrounds: beautiful and lushLocation ? perfect. A 90 second walk to a nice bar and grill and a nice walk to King?s Shops, Marriott and the monstrous Hilton Waikoloa.Money saving tip: pack some dry cereals, pancake mix, and other things in yoru suitcase stock up at one of the big stores near the airport on the way in. King?s Shops has a cute little market, but it?s SUPER expensive.
Beautiful and well kept facilities in a location away from the business of Kona, but close to some of the greatest beaches and some nice shops. The units vary with design, however, ours was gorgeous. Nice grounds with friendly help. Would go back again in a heart beat.
