Pros:The staff was awesome! Asia the concierge gave a great overview of what to do on the island. If you have the opportunity to attend the concierge presentation I highly recommend it. If you haven't been to the Big Island it's a great overview and Asia gives excellent recommendations, and breaks it up into smaller doses. Nadia had checked me in and hooked me up with a great upgrade. She was very friendly and aimed to please. I have to mention Melissa, who I only met for a moment was a big part of the upgrade, and I appreciate them tag-teaming and making it possible. The resort only has one restaurant, which is fine with me, because most of the days we were out and about an island. The breakfast buffet is solid. There are made-to-order omelettes and waffles, and they change the variety on the line frequently. Make sure not to leave your table unattended as the restaurant is open to Nature and birds swoop down and eat your eggs. The restaurant is very clean, but as I said your in an open-air restaurant steps from the beach, so some Wildlife should be expected. Having seen two of the other resorts in the area, I was very happy with this choice. It's a good size, but not overwhelmingly large. It's updated, but not flashy. I felt very comfortable. Our housekeeper Hyacinth was especially attentive and left extra towels for us as she saw we were using a lot everyday. I will be returning next year, and I'm definitely going to stay at this Marriott.
Cons:The elevators were a little slow, but honestly I'm on vacation I'm not in a hurry.

Pros:The pools are awesome, cascading down in three tiers. The beach is a bit strange, with lots of rocks and when we were there they were doing a construction and palm tree trimming, so much of the area was taped off. Beach chairs/chaises were not in great condition. Our room faced the garden and was so so. The location is great! Walking distance to kings shops and queens shops. We loved the hospitality suite - which allowed us to hang out in the pool and at the beach after check out time.

Pros:Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, great location on A-Bay. Easy parking. Book a room with ocean view or ocean front, and get the deal with breakfast included. Really nice staff at the breakfast. Appreciated the refrigerator in room! Fitness center was adequate.
Cons:Rooms and public areas/hallways really need new carpet, but it looked like this renovation was under way. The beds were good, pillow selection horrible. The stairwells really need to be cleaned and spruced up.
