It is a one -man operation, with some help sometimes. It probably is a safe place , but you cannot help but wonder if sooner or later someone will just walk in unobserved, ... and then what. .
Not too far away from skiing in Sauerland it's a hotel mainly visited by older people and not yet tuned to the desirings of younger people
Even though my German is not good they were extreamly helpful and patient. Room very comfortable. Yes there is a road near by but there was no noise. Breakfast in morning was great. Usual fresh rolls, Meats, cheese and yogurts. Coffee machine for what ever you want. Used hotel as a night stopover. Just a helpful hint give them a call in advance to let them know what time you'll arrive or at least learn how to say in German "I am here now" :-) Arrived 4pm Saturday, found doors locked. Due to my lack of German found the telephone number on the booking.com paper work so made a phone call and after a little talking they arrived in 10mins. Great. Relised this was exactly what was on a note in the entrance. Booking.com said it was 24hr but the 24hr nigh porter was out of order. However having never traveled on a Saturday before did not give it a thought of reception open times.
The fact that I could arrive after midnight. Ice cold room when arriving at 1 o'clock in the night. Not so nice, especially when I had pre-booked the room. Breakfast was terrible - one week old apples, no fresh yoghurt or milk, very little choices.
The reveptionist / manager was very helpful with advice on journey planning to avoid roadworks Our only complaint is that YOU did not pass on to the hotel our note that we did not expect to arive until after 2300.
We were out most of the day at a heavy metal festival so only really slept at the hotel. However beds were comfortable and the rooms clean. Could have done with tea making facilities, though. Hail to Manowar !! Breakfast seemed quite expensive at 8 euros each, but there were alternatives nearby. However not having seen the breakfast I can't really class this as a negative point. Once again....Hail to Manowar !!
friendly staff;clean rooms
Overall standards were excellent. Leisure facilities to a high standard. Hotel staff very friendly & helpful. Location idyllic. Room rates good value. Restaurant & bar prices higher than expected
The Hotel was clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and the decor clean and simple. The museli is the best I've ever tasted.
The food was good The room was quite small and basic and the hotel's location.
a little far from the central city, but its rural location is very good and enjoyable.
The restaurants and food are excellent with wide food and drink choice, good staff service and nice ambiance. The guest rooms are too small and need refurbishment. The bathrooms in particular do not have enough room for a grown up to be comfortable for undertaking ablutions.
Staff is friendly and helpfull, area is nice, though direct surroundings are roads..... Looked like a place in the middle of forest so walking from the hotel in the woods... but it's next to a busy road. The food is not what one would expect from such a busy place.
nice rooms - good restaurant
We were very happy to stay in this very clean and nice hotel with extraordinary friendy lady landlord and nice dog :) The breakfest was very delicious too !
Very nice, friendly hotel.
Peace and quiet of the surroundings.
The experience was nice, people helpful and the food was good. We stayed up in the "historic" area, it was difficult to go to sleep at night because of the service workers outside. It was around "2 am" before they finishied loading trucks, talking, and someone working in the workshop. It was noisy and not relaxing then. Also, we didn't see a sign at the Bhf. to direct us to the hotel-we walked there. We didn't see taxis either.
This is a lovely hotel in a marvellous setting. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the breakfast excellent. I had a spacious room on the ground floor with its own little private terrace, and I felt I had fantastic value for money. Highly recommended.
Clean, quiet, and hospitable. The restaurant connected to this hotel was extraordinary, with really great food and a wonderful host/owner. no complaints
Interesting hotel, with a micro brewery attached. Friendly proprietors. Lovely small town location in Bad Arolsen which has interesting attractions and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. Unable to offer late evening facilties (ie to delayed travellers), but to be fair, this is emphasised in their hotel information, which we did not see when booking the hotel.
Very nice hotel in a quiet location. Beautifully decorated. Friendly helpful staff. Lovely breakfast.
Greeting was positive. Room was comfortable but my wife would have preferred a bath. Restaurant was good
quiet place, clean and good breakfast.
Very clean and comfortable accomodation. Very friendly and obliging owners, locked our motorbike up in their garage for safe parking. Great breakfast and the meal we had in restaurant was excellent.
Hospitality of personals/owners and guite and peace to rest. Basic breakfast with exsellent fresh taste of products.
Superb hotel for our needs, family owned & run. Friendly service & immaculately kept. The bed sheets were of a stange material. I would have preferred plain cotton. However, an super room in an excellent hotel.
The entrance and restaurant looking like a 3 star hotel. Maybe I had the only bad room but it was not clean and needs renovation. There is no bathroom but the shower cabin is in the room, next to the bed. In a 3 star hotel, at least I would expect a piece of soap and some shampoo.
Spacious, clean and well furnished Nothing
We stayed one night. We chose the hotel for its proximity to the International Tracing Service in nearby Bad Arolsen, based on reviews we had seen on Booking.com. It did not disappoint! It's easy to get to - just 15 minutes from Highway 44 (the road between Dortmund and Kassel). The surrounding countryside is very beautiful. The room was spacious yet cozy, and the beds were very comfortable. We had dinner in the dining room after we arrived - it was very, very good - the best meal we had in two weeks of travel in Germnay.
The landlady was welcoming although she did not speak any English we were able to understand what she was saying. The room was very warm and the beds and duvets top class - we would stay again. If some of the literature in the bedroom were multi-language - French, English etc and this would be helpful to overseas visitors. No complaints all.
The magic of staying in a castle was wonderful for the children. We wish, however, there had been more information available in English on the history of the castle.
Very original design of the fairy tale castle of 'Rapunzel' with good conservation of the architecture. Give us a feeling like prince and princess. Both the adults and the kids love it very much. Excellent food and romantic atmosphere. Excellent hospitality by the hotel operator who also speak fluent English, and they explained in detail the history and stories of the castle which added much interest to our stay. Free parking. Good location along the Germany Fairy Tale Road. Have spiders in the room and restaurant but this is expected in this natural context. Perfect if they provide toothbrush and toothpaste.
It was unique to stay in a castle. The restaurant was wonderful, great view and a very loving kitty enjoys greeting you out on the patio. The bed was a little hard but we found hard beds at several other locations on this trip.
Location, food, service, nature Long way to carry your bags
The setting is beautiful. It's a bit of a trek to get there, but worth it. It's not just a cool old castle on the exterior, the interior is terrific with lots of old artifacts, wood beams, a great staircase. The dining room has a wonderful view over the valley and if you're lucky enough to be there when it's warm (i wasn't) there is a beautiful patio. I want to go back! The owners are very nice. and the food was excellent.
I was there 20 years ago and fell in love with the place and I still love it. Sleeping in an old castle is magic. Trendelburg has so much atmosphere and history it was like coming to a museum. Over all it´s charming.
Nice hotel and friendly staffs
The atmosphere was fantastic. The small town it was in was adorable, and there was a great walk through a river-side park. I would definitely stay here again instead of the nearby Sababurg Castle, which I did not stay at, but seemed to be pretty isolated. No TV in the room, but with the view from my window, I really didn't need it.
Loved our room and the view. The restaurant was very good and worth the price. No real complaints, but room could use a luggage rack.
