New restaurant to the neighborhood and the vibe was electric. Our server took the liberty of explaining the dishes and making recommendations with phone pics to support and help with our decision. The red mac and cheese was scrumptious and a nice twist on a old favorite. Definitely would recommend, especially the bread pudding desert and the fresh made donuts in plain sight upon entering are mouth watering. Check it out!

$30 brunch is way too expensive. Not having a la Carte breakfast as an option will not bring me back for brunch. Strange brunch combinations to me...Not enough breakfast options.

Service was mixed. Our waitress was not good (but new). The rest of the service staff was pretty good. I would like to believe the poor service by the waitress was a fluke and I would go back to try again. As for the ambiance, it was too loud. The waitress had trouble hearing us and vice versa. We also had trouble hearing each other. I definitely would NOT go back for a business dinner (that was a mistake), but I'd try again for a casual dinner with friends.

Everything was wonderful except the hostess decided not to sit us until 5 minutes after our reservation even though we were early by 15 minutes. The restaurant was empty at that time which my opinion there is a lack in training.

This is not the place to go if you aren't very hungry. The portions are huge. The menu is huge and you will want to eat all of it. My meal (char sui chicken) was delicious. The highlight, though, was the cocktail. Craft spirits treated with care, and large hand cut ice so it doesn't melt too fast. Rye and Chinese barbecue. Who knew!?

This place was fabulous. We came for the Saturday brunch and we're a group with a variety of eating restrictions (umm...I have none). Not only did everyone find plenty to eat but we loved nearly EVERYTHING. Delicious. Best beverages were the Bellini and clementine and minty drink; mimosa was not my fav. Book ahead and go early. This hotspot is packed!

I liked the place and look forward to returning. I had two issues with my last experience. The first is that our entrees arrived before the appetizer. We ordered the appetizer because we were both starving and wanted a nibble before the meal. However, when it arrived after our main plates, it was kind of moot. I also take issue with the BBQ Fried chicken, which came in an enormous portion. The coating was really, really greasy and the coating overwhelmed. There was far more coating than meat, and there really was no BBQ flavor or feel to it. However, the menu was amazing and so I will happily go back and select another item next time.

The food is generally good. I was disappointed with the bolognese sauce because it was spicy - the hot kind of spicy. I was not expecting that and I do not like spicy food. Also a friend got the same dish and I had a lot of sauce on mine but she had hardly any on hers which was odd. The dessert we got - homemade donuts - were great. The restaurant is very pretty, our server was ridiculously handsome, and we had a pleasant time. It was pretty noisy but sadly that is standard in DC.

Pretty new place but they need to work out some service kinks. It took WWAAYYYY too long to get our first drinks. We were done with our apps before they showed up, and the server completely forgot one of the drinks. After it was pointed out, they didn't put a rush on it, so it still took another 10 minutes to show up. A couple of the drinks were wrong as well, but we waited so long we just went with it. (the place has distillers in the name, so drinks should never be an issue) Our food showed up a minute after. Server was a bit too chummy. We want to have a relaxed evening and a chill server, but make sure things are on point first. That's the priority here. Great place, but they need to find their stride.

Second time trying a Farmers Restaurant Group restaurant. Was really unimpressed by the service at the Harbor restaurant, and I thought I'd try this new one to see if it was just that Harbor restaurant. Unfortunately, this one didn't have it's act together either. My noon reservation was acknowledged, and then the hostess said they just printed out the slip and will seat us soon. Meanwhile, the onslaught arrived, and it seemed like they were not prepared. 15 minutes later, I asked why we haven't been seated yet if all these other people that just came in got seated...plus I had a reservation. Finally, at around 20 minutes, we got seated. I don't think they had enough servers for the lunch rush. It was literally the slowest service I ever had. Even worse than the first experience at the Harbor restaurant. And at ever stage of a normal ordering, we had to flag someone down to help. Server was also not very attentive and didn't check in with us unless we flagged her down. The manager on duty apologized before our main entrees came out, and then evero0ne proceeded to go missing in action after that. Finally, almost TWO hours later, we got fed up and asked her to pack the dessert we ordered and bring the check right away. I have to say, the food normally makes me okay with mediocre service, but this was ridiculous. I didn't even ask to see the check. I said go ahead and run the credit card because we were really late. I might try take out sometime, but this is the second experience with really poor service. Managers need to staff better, and then servers need to provide service like people are in a hurry...which sometimes is the case for lunch crowd. I never complain about this, usually, but this was two restaurants in this group that were basically the same on service. Not sure I would personally go back, but I'd tell people to go and just grab someone fast, order EVERYTHING at one time and tell them you have on hour for lunch.

I dined at this restaurant for brunch recently with two girlfriends. The brunch is a buffet and it was advertised as having specific passed items. We only saw items pass twice which consisted of pizza and tuna tartare when we first arrived. Well into our meal, we asked several times for eggs benedicts, pizza and fried shrimp because nothing passed after our immediate arrival. The egg benedicts were finally delivered and then four people came around with pizza. The pizza was good.\n\nI sampled and enjoyed the scrambled eggs, pancakes, riblets, salmon and crab dip with flatbread. The fried chicken was tough and bland, some pieces looked undesirable. I wished the Sunday gravy & meatballs had been available. Chili and sweet potatoes were offered; both looked good but I wasn't in the mood for either. The whipped potatoes were ok but would have been great had they been hot or at least warm.\n\nThe pork loin, baked chicken, fried rice, bacon, sausage, brûléed grapefruit, French toast and pasta salad did not look appetizing.\n\nWe had a late brunch reservation which I regret because we felt rushed to finish and leave. Right before the buffet area was dismantled, the hot food was served cold and the most sought after dish, the crab dip, was gone as soon as it was placed out for patrons and finally no one refilled it. However, we did place an order at our table for crab dip which was a saving grace. \n\nThe buffet included hot beverages and unsweetened ice tea, but the types of sweeteners was very limited and regular sugar was scarce.\n\nWe never made it to the dessert area, which I am unhappy about.\n\nThis was my first visit to Farmers & Distillers, and I loved the ambiance. However, given the above mentioned, I am not sure I'll return.\n\nI posted this comment on Yelp, and the restaurant staff asked that I contact them to discuss. I will do that.

We went for brunch. Had no idea they only did a buffet brunch. Had to ask three times for water. Took 15 minutes for drinks....they still arrived before the water. Food on the buffet was largely tasteless, tho some decent options (ribettes, french toast). The worst part was the noise tho. It was so loud and chaotic. A manager even yelled at an employee to 'just do your job' in the middle of the buffet line. I had heard some good reviews and bad ones, especially related to the service, before I went. Not likely to go back any time soon.

This was my second visit to Farmers and Distillers, but this time I went with a group. Our server was fantastic and the food and drinks were delicious! I got the Strawberry Pisco Sour to start and later the Cucumber Delight - both of which were perfect. Our table started off with a delicious loaf of the house bread and hand-churned butter (make sure to ask for extra of the latter). We enjoyed all of the entrees, though I think I'd steer clear of ordering a salad as my entree in the future. Crab Melt and Shrimp and Grits were two of the stars. Then finished the meal with donuts to go!

We had their 29.99 brunch buffet on Saturday. It was really delicious. Lots of different choices, from salads, the best crab dip I've ever eaten, to bacon and scrambled eggs. You even get your own pot of tea and that's included in the price. My friend and I sat there for 3 hours eating and talking. We hadn't seen each other in a long time. One of the best Saturdays I've had in forever. Shout out to our waitress Rebecca, who let us sit at the table forever. She was patient and kind. Ask for her when dining. I will definitely return.

This was a pretty all-around bad experience. Our reservation was for 5 people at 8pm and at 8:01pm, we were waiting on our final guest, the Birthday girl, and the hostess had the audacity to say she 'couldn't hold our table forever.' It had been 1 minute and 4 of 5 people were present and it was their choice to not seat us. Then, we try to order a drink and the misleading menu makes you believe you get a drink to be shared for your choice of either 2 or 4 people for $25, but if you choose 4, the price is double (there is no mention of this on the menu). Then we order wine and it took 25 minutes. Finally, of 5 people, none of our food was made well. The avocado sandwich did not have avocado, the 'red' Mac n Cheese has no semblance to mac n cheese, and the curried chicken had overcooked noodles and I was scraping for sauce (isn't curry supposed to be soup-y). We had doughnuts for dessert and those were good but probably because no one ate their entree. Overall, terrible service and lackluster food. Won't be going back.

We were so disappointed by our visit to Farmers & Distillers for their Sunday Brunch. We've been to the other Farmers locations and they've all been excellent, but the food, variety, and noise level all added to a less than stellar meal. The brunch buffet did not have as many selections as advertised and the majority of the 'hot' food items were cold, and the 'hand passed' items didn't seem to make it to the dining room floor. We were there over an hour and only saw one item make the rounds twice. The noise level made it difficult to hold a conversation. The two bright points to the visit was our server, Alex, who was cheerful and attentive .... and the hot tea service was nice. Sadly, I'm not sure we'll be back to Farmers & Distillers.

Our second time. First time was just ok, and this time was less than ok. A lot of tasteless food, not great service and one dish really messed up. Don't know whether the server failed to take the order correctly or the kitchen messed up, but the real problem is the server didn't come back to the table to check on us after we received our food. Finally had to flag down another server to get the incorrect order taken care of. And frankly, 3 of the 4 of us wouldn't order the dishes we had again. But I have a feeling that won't be an issue, because I don't think we'll be back anytime soon.

The menu is very extensive and thematically all over the place, though the front of the menu explains the motivations behind it. That said, our meals were good with the highlight being the cocktails. Our server was attentive and helpful without being over the top, though we felt we were being pushed out once we'd ordered dessert and hit the hour mark. There wasn't a queue of people waiting to be seated at the entrance to justify this. My takeaway- the food's fine, cocktails creative, and donuts worth taking home.

Service was amazing, just super attentive and fun. The only knock was the drinks, we ordered the first and it was not the taste we expect from the other restaurants in the group. The manager explained the problem and offered another drink to make it right. It too was not up to par, but better than the first. Atypical for this group of restaurants, the drinks failed to match everything else we loved about the place. It was noisy at 730 pm, so expect quite a din but by 815, it had become much more tolerable. Overall 3.5 stars, but I rounded up due to the joyous service and fresh, delicious food. The space is great, and we enjoyed our drinks once we actually got them. But service was really slow - didn't get a drink order in until had been at the table for 20 minutes, and then it took another 20 to get our drinks. Then the food was underwhelming - the pasta was a soggy, tasteless mess; the dumplings under-stuffed; the spring rolls were a decent bright-spot; and the salad, while pretty tasty, was gritty. I don't think we'll be back.

We had lunch here on a Sunday before an event at the Verizon center. We went around 3:00, after the brunch is over, which is great for us since we are not fans of buffet brunches. The menu is very wide with a lot of different selections available. Our overall experience was OK, but there were some issues also\n\nAmbiance: Way too noisy for our tastes. Could barely hear each other speaking. We'd look for a quieter setting in the future.\n\nFood: Mixed - Two of us got noodle dishes - Curry lamb and the Dandan noodles. Both were excellent. One person got two types of dumplings - they were nothing to write home about. My wife got the apple and brie pizza - it was pretty boring.\n\nDrinks - We asked if the Unsweetened Ice Tea was regular black tea or if it had a flavoring. The waitress said it was regular black tea, so three of us ordered it. When it came, we all noticed it had some type of flavoring in the tea. Was definitely not normal black tea. Since none of us like flavoring in our tea, we asked the waitress to take it back as we were not going to drink it. All fine and good to that point - until we got the check and found that they charged us $12 for three iced teas that we sent back! Given that we had asked up front if they were flavored or not, I don't believe we should have been charged. I would have asked the waitress about it but we were late for an event by that point and had to get out the door.\n\nWe would not go back ourselves, but I'm sure it would be a great spot for others looking for a more lively atmosphere.

I enjoyed their Rye with a little soda--though next time I want to try the vodka. They brought me a sample and it was tasty. The crab dip was excellent, as was the filet mignon. If you like your meat medium be sure to ask for it medium rare. Avoid the cake donuts unless you like dunking them in your coffee (which was excellent).

We ate Sunday brunch here because it came highly recommended. We sat for 15 min before a server gave us instructions on the buffet bar or took our drink order. It was sub par compared to their other locations for brunch.

Food was ok, a lot of options for the buffet which was nice. Not very family friendly, got a huge attitude when I called a few days prior to let them know we needed a high chair. \n\nI wonder if it was the same hostess, whom I spoke with on the phone when we got there for our reservation. She was so incredibly rude, we had a reservation for 12:45 and 3 out of 4 of us were there by 12:40; but our table wasn't ready at 12:45. Then when I went to check in again, she said we couldn't be seated because our whole party wasn't there. So which was it? Our table wasn't ready or we couldn't be seated because our whole party wasn't there? I can understand not being seated when your whole party isn't there, but we were waiting for one more person who was parking. Either way we would have sat at a table for 4 people, its not like you can sit 3 people at a 2 top table. \n\nThen our table was given away, didn't sit until about 1:15; whats the point of a reservation!? A little 'oh I am so sorry the party before you ran later or something' goes a long way. She just didn't seem to care at all. As the face of the restaurant, check yourself.

First, I was quite disappointed this time around. My boulabaisse was not warmed properly, felt like the dish was microwaved since it was luke warm. My spouse ordered the New York strip well done, which was not properly cooked so he returned it. The manager came back and said it was burnt so they had to cook an enitrely new piece of meat. The chef was inexperienced since they gave him a thick piece of meat that was split in half!!! How can they hire a chef that didn't know how to cook steak? The manager was nice enough to not charge us for his dish. Overall I was disappointed and felt they no longer have the high standards as the dessert menu was also filthy.

The French toast on their brunch buffet was the most amazing thing on the buffet. I'm not a big bread eater and I went back for 2 more pieces it was so wonderful. I was really excited to try this new restaurant of the Founding Farmers restaurant group and it did not disappoint! The food was very good and the value was good for what you get in the brunch buffet. The only criticism I have is the flow of traffic for the brunch...it's very confusing about which way to go through the buffet and there is a tendency to run or bump into people. Other than that, we loved this place and will certainly be back!

Unfortunately, our experience at farmers and distillers wasn't what we're generally accustomed to. We love this place and generally love the food; however, it was a very off night for them. Service was excellent but the food was like warm and took quite some time. They may have been short staffed due to the National Day without Immigrants but it definitely wasn't worth the price that night and if they couldn't maintain their value, they should have closed for the evening. The staff was apologetic but that only goes so far when you're looking for a quality meal.

When I arrived on time there was a queue for tables but in this instance it didn't matter because my friend was stuck in traffic. We were seated quickly after he arrived but 15 mins after the time I booked. We had a nice booth, very big for 2. There is a huge choice of food and drinks, maybe even too much, but definitely great for a group who like different things. I was not drinking alcohol but the homemade lemonade was very nice. The most annoying thing was the waiter who talked too much and kept bothering us, making loads of suggestions we didn't ask for and didn't even like, and even evesdropped on our conversation and then asked us questions about it. That's why I gave a bad score for service even though it wasn't slow, but literally the most annoying waiter I have ever had. Food is decent, home style. Fun atmosphere, very busy earlier but quite a few tables available by the time we left at about 9.15pm. Bar looked fun but didn't go there. Would definitely go back but really hope I get a different waiter.

I was in Farmers & Distillers on Valentines and 2 weeks prior celebrating my birthday. On my birthday I ordered a flat iron steak med rare and it came out med well. I kindly told the server that she should tell the chef to check how he's cooking the steak because it was a over done by a lot, but I still ate it because I was hungry and in a rush. She said 'Oh, that's how to always cooked.' uhh if you're cooking a med rare as a med well I think the chef needs some temperature practice. So besides that, we finished off with a choco coco cake that was absolutely delish which was the reason for my boyfriend and I to return on Valentine's day. I warned him about the steak issues but we both assumed it would be a one time mistake, but we were wrong. I ordered something other than steak afraid it would be overcooked. My boyfriend ordered the Prime Rib, med rare, and guess what...it came out MED WELL AGAIN. Truly a disappointment. My boyfriend couldn't even get through half of his Prime Rib because it was so chewy and over cook - and NO FLAVOR. We really liked our server so we didn't want to bother her with a complaint so he just sucked it up. NEVER again ordering steak from here. I had a great meal and I wanted this night to be special for the both of us, but my boyfriend was so disappointed with his meal. Paid over $30 for his meal to not finish it... We finished with the choco coco cake and we both really enjoyed it. I love a good steak cooked to med rare and Farmers & Distillers have let me down the 2 and only times i've been here, and both for a special occasion. I really want to love this place but why eat at a place that doesn't even know how to cook steak properly?? Chef or whoevers cooking the steaks need A LOt of practice. Maybe they're beef isn't good quality so they have to resort to over cooking it?? No clue. Don't waste your money on a steak unless you like your $30 steak cooked well done.

Lamb dumplings were bland. Shaobing tasted like a cheese steak, but steak was chewy. The dandan noodles were OK, but I could have had better for half the price right around the corner in China Town. The lobster ravioli tasted like yhey were made days in advance (super fishy) and the sauce had enough salt in it to cure a ham...\n\nThe popcorn was fantastic and the drinks were good, but in my opinion a little over priced.\n\nI get what they are trying to do here, but the food just didn't live up to the expectations or the price. I had a horrible experience. I was seated at a center 'farm table' in the middle of the dining room with 2 other people who I did not know. On Valentine's Day, this seating option is unacceptable, especially when I had made the reservation more than a month in advance.\n\nI would have been ok with the seating if the rest of the experience wasn't terrible. Our waitress dropped a wine glass and shattered glass all around mine and my dates feet. Our appetizers were great, but our food came out WAY too quickly. Instead of sending it back to get cold while we finished the appetizers, we took the food when it came.\n\nMy filet, ordered medium rare, came out raw. I sent it back and waited for over 10 minutes for the meal to be returned. By the time it was returned, the steak was cooked, however, was dry and ruined by the fact that it was 're-cooked.' Worse, the rest of the food on my plate had gotten cold. My 40 dollar meal consisted of a dry, ruined filet and cold mushrooms and potatoes. My date and I had to have our meals separately. It really was a horrible dining experience and not worth the $180 I spent. I will not be back

I was looking forward to going here since I am a fan of Founding Farmers. The menu was impressively expansive and I would go back to try the items I was choosing between. We did have a service issue. My party of 4 was waiting on it's last member to arrive. Although she came an hour late, her food arrived before the food of someone who was not late- because the kitchen messed up her order. I would have at least thought their orders might come out at the same time but the staggered meals being brought out to our table was pretty awkward. 3/4 of us didn't care much for the food we ordered: the burger was not an issue though the shrimp pasta was blamd and needed seasoning, the Ma Po Tofu lacked any sort of heat (spice), and the meatball pie was too dainty in its toppings.

We arrived a little early, but they were able to seat us right away. The hostess was friendly and wished us a happy Valentine's Day. We were greeted right away by our server with water and a friendly introduction about the restaurant. He helped us pick cocktails. Cucumber crush was amazing. The drinks take a little while bc they are hand crafted. But it's worth the wait. We ordered 2 appetizer, when we truly wanted 4. Lol My fiancé and I got the dumplings (chicken and then the pork and shrimp)! So amazing. Both were very spicy and had such strong flavor. Loved the heat that the chicken dumpling gave. For our entrees we ordered 2 main dishes to share. The Bouillabaisse and the Polpette and Grits. Bouillabaisse was by far the best. Such briny flavor from the clams and mussels and the broth. The fennel and the Yukon golden potatoes were amazing in the broth!! Polpette and grits were very different than I usually get. The grits were not runny and had such great texture. The marinara was not over powering. The meatballs gave a little kick with the beef and pork but nothing overwhelming. Only negative thing about the dish was it was a little room temperature, but still very delicious. Lastly, the desserts were amazing! Seems like they are famous for their donuts. We had the apple cider baked cake donut with a scoop of the house churned ice cream. Best part is we ordered a espresso and poured it on the ice cream which was recommended by our server. Omg it was amazing! Smoky and warm. The dessert wasn't to heavy. Very light. We decided to order one more dessert so we ordered the banana cream cake that comes with a scoop of brûléed banana ice cream. The cake was perfectly moist and the layers of cream cheese icing was not overpowering like in most cakes. You could tell from the layering that cake was made that day. Over all we will definitely be going back. Great resterant, food, and service!!!!!!!

There were several families there but we didn't feel out of place (we're lesbians in our 30s) because there were other people without kids there and the families were all different- gay and straight, black and white - so it wasn't a family brunch vibe where you have to be a white, Herero family with 2 well-dressed eerily well-behaved children to not stand out.\nAnyway- the food - it wasn't crazy creative - it was just good. My vegetarian stew was tepid, which caused the texture to be rather jelly-like and unappealing. Although the vegetables themselves were beautiful, their preparation was oddly bland, with no discernable herbs or seasoning. Additionally, it really should have been served with a chuck of bread and butter, as stews generally are. (As a single diner, I did not want to buy a whole loaf of bread, which was the only option.) I was not provided with a spoon until well into the meal, so struggled to eat this soupy stew with a fork. I dined there for the first time on a moderately busy Tuesday evening. I had high expectations given the restaurant's pedigree. Unfortunately, I left underwhelmed. Despite this mediocre first experience, I do plan to return and try some other dishes and hope for a better overall dining experience.\nService -- very friendly, although there were a few hiccups / mistakes. However, our server totally owned it and was apologetic. \nFood -- we ordered the dumplings (which looked more like flat raviolis); we both thought they were just 'OK'. For our entrees, I ordered the Char Siu Chicken, my friend the Southern Fried BBQ Chicken (with one side substitution). Both entrees arrived suspiciously quick after we placed our order. My friend's dish didn't have the sub'd side she ordered, so, they had to re-fire her dish ... which then took twice as long to get as compared to when the 1st plate arrived. The Char Siu dish doesn't warn the diner on the menu that it is a half chicken served on the bone; so it was very challenging to cut and eat gracefully. But worse, the glaze was too sweet, the cashew fried rice was room temperature and dry; and the bok choy suffered from overcooked tops and undercooked bottoms. I was halfway through eating my dinner when my friend's corrected plate arrived. She said it was 'just ok.' The two highlights of our meal 1) Wine - we enjoyed a (reasonably priced) bottle of Spanish Rioja and 2) our desserts were delicious (friend had the chocolate cake and I had a maple donut with a scoop of salted caramel ice cream). \nService props -- It's worth noting that our server comp'd my friend's dessert for the inconvenience of her having to wait on the entree.\nAll this to say, it seems that since they are a relatively new restaurant, the kitchen still has some work to do. IMO they should start by slimming down the menu. Too. Many. Dishes. Better to do a few things great then a lot of things marginally.

We went for DC Restaurant Week to try out the latest restaurant from the same company that owns Founding Farmers et al. This one had the added bonus of an on-site distillery with the ingredients all locally sourced. Décor was fun and casual with the theme being George Washington, Mount Vernon, and early Americana. Loved the dishware -- very charming and each one was different. Great cocktail selection with the spirits locally made. We didn't order any coffee drinks but the selection looked really good -- they even had chai tea.\nThe Restaurant Week menu was a fantastic value. We got to choose one order of dumplings for our table of 4 (we chose the lamb dumplings which came 4 to an order -- very good), we each got to choose a salad, any entrée $24 or less (with the Restaurant Week menu only $35, allowing us to choose an entrée of $24, a dumpling order to share, a salad each, and a doughnut each, it was an excellent value), a doughnut of our choice. The10 oz steak was one of the most flavorful steaks I've ever had and you also got to choose a sauce and 2 sides (all for $24!). We were so full from the dumplings, salad, and bread (which wasn't free, but it was a huge load of freshly baked crusty bread) that we could only eat half of our steak. There was a large variety of sides to choose from. I chose the creamed spinach (also maybe the best creamed spinach I ever had) and the potatoes romanoff (kind of like hash browns but with a cheesy top). I think the reason why the steak and spinach tasted so good was because of the freshness and quality of the locally sourced ingredients. They even bake the doughnuts in-house. Unfortunately they were sold out of the crème brulee doughnut which is their best seller so I can't say what it tasted like. One friend ordered the chocolate coconut doughnut. She's not crazy about chocolate but loves coconut and she LOVED this doughnut!\nGood location near 2 metro stations. Validated underground garage parking for 2 hours.

Plus: sides were good. Minus: hanger steak was grossly overdone, very fatty, and tasted only of the very heavy dose of salt. Perhaps the chef accidentally knocked the top of the salt shaker off as he salted the steak and thought making medium steak extra well done would cover his tracks.

We quickly realized we could not talk with each other due to one side being empty. It's great for people watching. Our drink order took a very long time to get filled. Otherwise, the service was great, the food tasty. Tuna appetizer, cauliflower pasta and salmon were really good. The donuts are not worth the calories. I was very excited to try this restaurant as it had gotten good reviews from a friend. I had high hopes when I walked in and saw the decor - so pretty! When the waitress first came to the table I thought the service was going to be great! But it was all down hill - 15 minutes to get an arnold palmer (iced tea/lemon aide), 20 minutes to get an answer to a dietary restriction question, and then not only was I was brought the wrong entree, but it then took well over 20 minutes for the right one to come - and it was cold. \n\nIncredibly disappointed - more so because I brought clients with me!

for $30 the brunch was really mediocre. very few baked items, those were reserved for walk-ins only, a measly carving station with fish and maybe ham. salads were average in look and taste, they could be far more abundant and tasty. If this were $19.99 not $29.99 then it would have made more sense. I can go to Four Seasons for this price and it's 100x better.

Decided to go for restaurant week. Glad I chose this place. Had a 4:30 reservation and waited a while to be seated as they require you entire party to be there before being seated. This place seemed pretty popular and the wait without a reservation was about an hour. So I would recommend making a reservation. There are a lot of tasty things on the menu and you would defiantly need to make multiple trips to try everything. We had the lamb pot stickers and Parmesan pound cake as appetizers. They both were delicious but the Parmesan pound Cake was something special. The combination of sweet and savory was superb! I would definitely recommend getting this! For my entree I had the salmon and subbed out the fried rice for sautaid mixed greens. Everything was seasoned well and the salmon was delicious! For dessert we had the creme brûlée doughnut. It was good not great. Probably would have been better if it were warm. Looking forward to going back!

Be prepared to wait to be seated, even if you have a reservation. While our waiter was very nice, he was not as attentive as he could have been. We waited quite a long time before the table was even set with utensils and napkins, and waited an additional time period until our order was taken. We were a party of two, and a neighboring party of four seemed to monopolize his attention. The restaurant is very large, but seems to be having some trouble operating with the efficiency necessary. Our waiter seemed to struggle to get the kitchen to produce the correct food in the right order. We had to take our dessert to go, since the service delays meant that lunch took well over an hour and a half.\n\nThe food was serviceable. I might return with a party including children with simple tastes. Prices are fairly reasonable.

Much hyped. We love founding farmers, but this was a huge disappointment. The appetizers were creative and tasty, but the main courses were a huge disappointment. The char siu chicken was cold and not edible. We should have sent it back. The server was engaging, when he was there. We ordered wine at the same time as the appetizers. It didn't show up until the entrees were still on the table, even after several assurances that it was on the way. To add insult to injury, I asked to take home the rest of my steak, but when I got home I found out they didn't give me the bone, which still had plenty of meat on it. I was saving it for later, but it is now lost forever. We will never go back.

I don't think they've worked out all of the kinks yet, which is surprising given the fact that they are part of a family of restaurants so they should know how to run a restaurant by now. The staff seemed to be kept out of the loop on a lot of things, and the managers never show when you ask to see them. I hope that with time things will run faster and more smoothly and we can use this restaurant for committee dinners. Environment is open and hip; lots of windows and a view of the donut-making station. Our food was not quite on, but I hope it is just a wrinkle in the new kitchen. Mac and cheese had no flavor, veggies were overly salted. A sauce on my meat was spicy but the menu did not warn me. Tried to go here for restaurant week but instead of the special lunch menu that looked great online, they were serving a brunch that was significantly more expensive and buffet style. Part of this is Open Table's fault since I booked the reservations through their restaurant week advertisement. The food was ok but buffets never taste as good as individually prepared dishes. Plus we were told the brunch would be ending 30 minutes after we arrived but weren't offered the dinner menu that started afterward so we felt like we had to rush to get food. Definitely not worth the price for Saturday brunch. Hopefully on a regular day it would be better.

I really loved the chicken dumplings. They were cooked perfectly. Not too crispy but not too soft. The sauce was delicious. Neither I nor my friend enjoyed our salads. I had the baby kale which sounded interesting but turned out to be a little underwhelming. The vinaigrette on the salad was tasty and it was a large portion but the other ingredients were barely there. I mainly had a plate full of greens. They offered to have me try another salad of my choosing which I appreciated but I declined. My chicken fries ribeye was tasty. I asked for romanoff potatoes instead of the mac and cheese but the order didn't come out right. They fixed it but the place was jammed packed and everything was quite slow. I never got my soft drink and my friend had to remind the waitress at least three times to bring her soft drink. The food was good. The romanoff potatoes were surprisingly the star of my plate. The food was good, and at the price, a good value, but not worth the hassle and neglectful service.\n\nThe couple sitting next to us (who also, it seemed, had a reservation but were seated at the communal table just as we were) had even worse luck than us: one of them ordered jack daniels and was later informed that they were out of it (weird)... and then after her appetizer was informed that her dinner choice was also no longer available (even weirder to not find this out until 30 mins after you order something). Terrible. Your reservation is not a reservation. I arrived promptly at my reservation time and was told non-chalantly that 'it would be a few minutes.' After 20 minutes and no movement, I asked to speak to the manager, who offered nothing, not even an apology. When you make a reservation at this place, expect to stand packed like sardines in the foyer while they take their time serving walkins because this place overbooks and thinks that impatient customers in the foyer means its a desirable restaurant. You are really just putting your name on the list at your reservation time, so why bother. This chain is the budget car rental agency of restaurants, or a folksy overpriced Applebees.

When I make a reservation, I expect not to be placed in the least desirable corner of the restaurant if at all possible, which I was. There appeared to be more desirable open tables, so I'm not sure why I got stuck right near the bathroom/bar serverwell/hostess stand area. But perhaps that's just a personal preference... though I don't see how anyone would choose to sit there. There's really no beer, so that may disappoint some of your party. Also, while the main focuses of the dishes were fine (steak, salmon, etc.) the sides left something to be desired. For example, two people at the table got cashew fried rice, which was served without any cashews. I'm not sure if they were supposed to be ground into it or something... but this side was on par with any simple fried rice from a takeout place. Disappointing considering the price of food here. Redeeming factors: Knowledgeable and pleasant server, $1 donuts. I'd recommend this only for the hard liquor/cocktail enthusiast and would probably skip everything but the donuts.

Big fan of the Farmers chain of restaurants, and this new addition did not disappoint. My friends and I went for a Saturday dinner and got spring rolls, dumplings, hand drawn noodles, seafood and one of the shaobing sandwiches - all were incredible. They have an extensive menu, but they seem to specialize in it all - and at very reasonable prices. I'll be coming back.

We are regular patrons of the other Farmer's restaurants and this experience fell woefully short. From under seasoned to over seasoned food, cold, congealed pasta that looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for 30 mins and a terrible recommendation from our waiter for a vegan meal. What came was stale dry pizza crust, with wilted vegetables on it. The waiter was nice but had no ability to recommend another meatless version that could be made vegan. After our many issues with the meal and in light of the fact that we spent well over $300 between cocktails, apps and the main meal, the waiter did not adjust the bill to reflect the overall poor experience. We made him aware we were really disappointed, but had appreciated his service. Hopefully they are just working out the kinks of a new restaurant, but I won't be returning to find out. Too many great restaurants in this city to waste time or money on anything less. We might as well have gone to Applebees.

Food was pretty good for a buffet. I enjoyed the ribs and the grapefruit brûlée the most! Our server Andrew was amazing!!!! Best service I have received among the farmer's restaurants. He was very charming, knew a lot about the menu, and helped us make great cocktail decisions in which we requested more that once while we dined. For $29.99 you definitely get your monies worth! Hot and cold tea, as well as coffee are included with your meal: my favorite hot tea is the morroccan mint tea. Very full in flavor and I love the China they serve your tea and entrees on. I wish they had brunch drink specials. My boyfriend and I spent about $70 in cocktails alone on just 3 rounds for brunch. In addition, our meal was $60 together. All in all, I enjoyed myself.

So I have to begin this review by saying that I have been a big fan of the brunch at Farmers Fishers Bakers since 2013 so I was excited to try their new sister resturant expecting a slightly different but mostly similiar experience. I am going to have to say the Brunch at Farmers Distillers falls a bit short. I noticed that the quality of the food wasn't quiet as good, and often found they were out of many items on the brunch buffet, which is understandable as everything is made fresh but that's also the case are Farmers Fishers Bakers and I never noticed them running low on popular items. Also, Farmers Fishers Bakers passes various foods throughout brunch like sushi, pizza, shrimp and eggs benidict. Farmers Distillers does the same thing but you have to ask, and our server did not offer so it wasn't until the end of our meal that I asked for the fried shrimp and it was brought to the table. It came with cocktail sauce, so when I asked for tarter, I was told there wasn't any made for the day. Farmers Fishers Bakers always offers both when they come table to table. Never the less the doughnuts are delish and the rib tips are to die for. I guess it- just seems like the operation down at the Georgetown Harbor is a more tightly run ship. Considering brunch is the same price, I will probably not return to Farmers Distillers and continue going to Farmers, Fishers Bakers just because I think it's a better production and the food honestly taste better.

We’d saved ourselves for desert after passing by the inviting baked goods display, but the service was so slow that we ran out of time to order desert. Oddly long delays with drinks/beverages, which seemed to be fetched from some other area of the restaurant that our waiter claimed he could not access. The iced tea tasted funny (mediocre tea or bad ice).

Given this is a new restaurant, our experience was a complete and utter disaster. We sat down for our 1:45pm reservation and were told that brunch ends at 2:00pm. No problem, except we weren't allowed to get a regular menu until 2:00pm. We order a drink that is supposed to be enough for 2-4 patrons. When it arrives, there are only three champagne flutes of the drink. When we asked out server, he had no idea the difference. We said, 'If it says it serves 2-4, if there were four of us, would you have brought another drink?' He was terribly unsure of what to do. About 10 minutes later he brought the correct beverage, served in a golden pineapple (with no explanation). We order and hang out for a bit when the fire alarm goes off. It goes off for about 10 minutes and everyone doesn't seem to have an explanation of why the alarm is going off. Our food comes and we can't even eat because the alarm was so loud. The alarm finally stops when my pescatarian friend notices her shrimp wontons look and taste like pork. We ask the server and again, he has no clue. We get a new order but she is nervous to eat it. We get no apology for being served pork. We spoke with the manager and she was very dismissive. In the end, we had the bill reduced a bit. I will never, ever be back to this restaurant in addition to any others in the chain.

Our server, Andrew, was friendly while being professional. The food arrived promptly with excellent presentation. I don't have a complaint, but do have a suggestion. It's common courtesy when bringing a bottle of wine (paying corkage fee) to offer a sample to the server and/or sommelier. A simple online search regarding Corkage Etiquette should be done by management as I was a bit surprised to find out it was not allowed at this establishment.

Went here when visiting by brother in DC. My brother was excited because the owners have two other successful restaurants in the DC area. Both of which he has eaten at multiple times and have always enjoyed. However we were both very disappointed. After being set at our table it took 12 minutes to finally be acknowledged, and it wasn't even by our server. My brother order a salad along with our meals, he asked what kind of dressing it came with and our server said a balsamic vinaigrette. When the salad arrived it had no dressing at all, so when our server came back he asked for the dressing that it should have came with. Our server returned with a raminkin of 'dressing'. After pouring it in his salad and taking a bite he discovered it was soy sauce. After telling our server she apologized and brought a new salad out with the proper dressing. However the dressing that they described as a balsamic vinaigrette was just plain out of the bottle balsamic vinegar. Then our main courses arrived. My brother order a chicken and rice dish. While the chicken was mediocre the rice was serverly under cooked and extremely salty, to the point that it was inedible. It was so under cooked that it was difficult to chew. I ordered a ribeye steak with whipped potatoes and Mac and cheese. The steak had a kinda grayish color to it and was barely 1/8 of an inch thick. The Mac and cheese flavor was ok but it was extremely mushy, like it had been sitting under a heat lamp on a buffet for hours. The total cost of our meal was $63 but was the quality of a cheap buffet. We would never return to this place and do not recommend it to anyone. The server was nice and polite but was not very good at her job

Fantastic food. Delightful cocktails. Everything was perfect – even with our table of 16 after the Woman's March. I've never seen a restaurant so busy and aside from a few minor hiccups and drink delays, all in our party were very satisfied, especially the foodies. Food came out quickly, with barely any waiting from first plate down to last. TIP: If it's insanely busy (like, people tripping over each other) and you really need to pound some drinks after a long day, order wine instead of cocktails. Wine is poured by the terrific servers, and cocktails are crafted, drop-by-drop, by highly trained artisans.

The menu was so extensive it felt like a food court or take out joint. Nothing was holding this together other than some loose reference to China town and local ingredients. They forgot our wine order, it seemed, only to come back and say that they were out. By that time we were half way through our mediocre entrees. The noodles came out all stuck together like they hadn't been properly reheated, their raison cauliflower was a bizarre, sweet dessert-type concoction that came strangely recommended by our server, and the ribs poorly presented. A real disappointment for an affiliate of Founding Farmers.

I ordered Cauliflower Raisin handmade pasta (rigatoni, light cauliflower purée, FF Rye Whisky-soaked raisins, pine nuts): pasta was overcooked and a little mushy, cauliflower was served raw as thin slices instead of as a puree as per indicated in the menu, no whisky-soaked raisins on the plate, lots of pine nuts maybe even too much which killed the taste of the dish. The entire place was empty and they told us they were all booked up for the morning. We then went on open table and made reservations for ten minutes later. We let the hostess know that we had reservations now and that we were here and she told us to wait ten minutes till our time slot and then we could be seated. So we waited and watched as almost the entire place was empty. Three other groups were told the same thing as we waited. Ten minutes later we waited in line to speak to the hostess and she told us to wait for another hostess to seat us. Finally around 15 minutes later we were sat at one of the tables that had been open the entire time. By the way this was for the serve yourself brunch so it was not like it was a lack of server issue. \n\nTo top it off the bacon which is so good at the other places was horrible and tasted like jerky and the eggs looked like cafeteria food. I really like founding farmers but Farmers and Distillers was not a good experience. Service was absolutely terrible. Imperial spring rolls were dripping with grease. My $40 steak tasted gamey and wasn't seasoned, the lobster ravioli tasted like it was frozen from a package. Desert took forever and, when it finally arrived, it was dried out and bland. But hey, at least when desert arrived the waitress finally removed our cocktail glasses from 1.5 hours earlier.

This is a new spot that is under the umbrella of the Founding Farmers restaurant chain, where the food is supposedly from the farm to your table. It has a great atmosphere, great decor, and the food was good. One notable for me was that they make their own doughnuts all day, every day, for $1 each. I had the lemon. Deelish! I watched everyone's plates as they were being served. Large portions. The price was moderate. The other side of the place has a bar. This place makes its own spirits of varying kinds. I didn't get to taste any on this visit. Maybe next time.

The hub's and I were eager to check out this restaurant for brunch and let me just say, 'It was amazing!' The brunch buffet is filled with many selections from your assortment of salads, crab dip (delicious), pancakes, French toast, applewood bacon, grits, eggs, fried chicken and more. It's literally something on the buffet for everyone to enjoy. Save room for dessert! You don't want to waste it!! Will definitely be returning. Helpful Tip: Make a reservation!'

We are regulars at their sister restaurant, Farmers, Fishers, Bakers in Georgetown. This experience began on the wrong foot by seating Open Table VIPs at a circular table in the middle of the dining room when booths were open. The food bar was decimated with some items missing. The service was extremely slow, but this is attributed to our waiter as other waitstaff were taking extremely good care of their guests. It took over ten minutes to have our coffee refilled; after the second time, we requested a carafe for the table and that even took time. The passed items were not evenly distributed through the dining room, even after asking for them. I spoke with the manager, whom we did not see in the dining room the overwhelming majority of our time there. I explained to him our dissatisfaction and he was very dismissive stating that we were dissatisfied and there was nothing he could do about it. He ensured passed items came to the table, but it was too late to enjoy them. We will not be going back to this location.

The waiter at this restaurant was amazing! He answered all of our questions, and went out of his way to make sure our meal was the best he could accommodate for the evening. The food is amazing! There is a small vegetarian/vegan menu at the bottom of the very large menu they have. I would not recommend this if you're going looking for vegan/vegetarian options, but they have great comfort foods! The vegan/vegetarian options they do have are very very good though! A must try restaurant in the DC area!

We went here opening week. First - it is much bigger on the inside that it looks from the outside! The seating was a little cramped but overall worth it. There are plenty of food options for people of all tastes/diets. The red mac and cheese was especially good and the $1 donuts were amazing - the creme brulee was delish! The service was wonderful and overall I would recommend and go again. If you're familiar with Founding Farmers you know that they serve corn bread there, but don't expect that here. The only disappointing feature was no complimentary bread with the meal - you had to order it separately. But don't let that discourage you from trying this gem!

Had an early dinner after attending a Caps game. Our server was friendly and well-informed about the menu and offered suggestions. What I really appreciated was that she asked if there were any food allergies and if we had any time constraints. \n\nFood was delicious - we had the steak tartare, the flat iron steak with roasted heirloom carrots and Parmesan grits and my daughter had the Cacio e Pepe pasta. We went the last three weekends and have mixed feelings about it. The service is great and everyone is really nice. The drinks take way too long to come out. Don't get the 'drinks for two' that come in a pineapple. It isn't worth the price. It maybe has four ounces of a drink. We sent one back because we barely had three sips each. Second one came and it had a tiny bit more but it has a TON of ice.\n\nThe food is good. One experience wasn't good and they took it off the bill. Food takes a while to get as well. Tremendous menu with tons of options. The options sound more interesting than they actually end up being, however. The things we tried ended up being good, not great versions of that food type (Asian noodles, Southen, new American). The only thing that was stellar was the donut. Chocolate glazed was like beignets with a fudge frosting. Will be going back for more donuts but not for food.

We had a 9:15 reservation and was told that they were running about 20-25 minutes behind. We didn't get seated until 45 minutes later at 10:00. Once we were seated we had to wait for a waiter to come over a greet us and then we had to wait again to order. The food was only OK. My husband had he red mac and cheese which was pretty decent and I had the bouillabaisse which was salty and full of over-cooked shrimp. We had a cocktail while waiting for our table and another during our meal. The cocktails were good, but definitely not worth the $14 price tag. We ended the night with donuts and the waiter automatically assumed we wanted them to go- which we did, but it felt like we were being pushed out because it was so late. When we got home and ate the donuts they were nothing special. Overall, I can't say that I will be back. While the inside of the menu had a bit on the distillery and the restaurant concept, when I pressed our (otherwise good) server, he really didn't explain it to us with the exception of stating the slogan of 'great food/great service'. My wife and I especially like this restaurant group for their local food concepts, but we were entertaining family from out of town and would have like the server to explain it all...\n\nThe menu is expansive and the server gave pretty solid recommendations. I didn't care as much for the salmon, but the BBQ fried chicken was very tender and delicious and my uncle's pork porterhouse was a hit. There is some Asian inspiration as the restaurant is on the cusp of Chinatown, but I still think the menu could use for refining and unifying coherence.\n\nIts an OK addition to the group, but the Founding Farmers restaurant/experience is still superior to this one.

Still working the kinks out - it's a new place, so I'll definitely go back. The menu is massive, the food was great! The service at the table was quite good at first, if tapering as the restaurant filled. The wine was sub-par, and the list bled to very expensive. $11 is the cheapest glass, for a sub-par blend, and then you're looking at $16 glasses. It's just not practical compared to the rest of the menu. My biggest regret was the host/hostess/checkin. Upon entering, I gave my name and reservation time - was asked if I'd like to be seated and wait for my party or not. I said I would, that I'd like to have a glass of wine while I waited. I stood for 20 minutes in the foyer, while there were open seats at the bar. If seating me was a problem - just tell me - I'll gladly wait at the bar and have my wine. Instead, I stood awkwardly with my coat, waiting for a table that never came - until I went back and asked a second time, and then waited 5 more minutes. As I said, the food was good - so I will go back. I offer this review to the management as a cautionary tale. The location is great, the concept is great - but still major kinks to be worked out.

The sweet potato ravioli put a smile on my face.. the dish was delicious. The donuts were also amazing. \n\nThere were two things that prevent me from giving the restaurant a 5/5 rating. 1) We ordered the brie and apple tart. The tart seemed like it had been pre-made and sitting out for awhile. Everything was going soooo well, until we ordered desert. \n\nThe server dropped the desert menu off at the table and disappeared for 15 minutes. Then when she came back we started to order, we got through 1 order (an Affigado) and she took the menu out of my hand and started to walk away before the other 4 guests could order their doughnuts. We called her back and she took the additional orders then disappeared for another 20 minutes and returned with our desert order 'to-go' rather than plated to be enjoyed in the restaurant. \n\nWe felt like she wanted us out of the restaurant, which seemed odd as we were still ordering wine and cocktails. We probably would have spent another $200 on drinks had this not occurred. \n\nI don't think I will be going back, new restaurant or not I think Farmers and Distillers has fallen victim the same poor management as Found Farmers in DC. Too bad.

When you go into a restaurant for the first time the pressure is on both sides. Customers don't know 'how the magic works' and everything the restaurant does impacts your impression. You're willing to forgive old favorites because, well, they're old favorites. New places have an extra burden. In this case, Farmers & Distillers came through. The check-in was your average experience, but the server was outstanding and knowledgeable. And the menu choices are eclectic, but in this case it means there's likely something for everyone. They were out of the 'fish of the day,' which I thought odd considering we had dinner at 5:30. I feel sorry for the 7 o'clock crowd. However, the alternative was just as good. I had the BBQ fried chicken, which was terrific. I'm originally from the south so I have strong opinion on fried chicken. The sides were okay, but I was simply taking things out for a test drive. Bottom line, I'll be back, which should be considered a success for new restaurants.

My friends and I were very excited to try this place, as I am a huge fan of the sister restaurants. Even with reservations, we did have to wait an extra hour to be seated (to be expected, since it is a new restaurant). We also had a mishap with our food, where the ticket got lost in the kitchen. It was a little upsetting seeing everyone around us get their food while we waited for at least an hour. We were very pleased with the extremely friendly staff and the food was also fantastic. I will definitely be back to visit again soon!

My meal was ok. Food was a lackluster. I scrapped the sauce off my salmon (big improvement) but it was raw on the inside so I couldn't eat a big part of it. Obviously that's my issue since I don't like rare salmon. I should have clarified the temp. The fried rice is referred to as 'cashew fried rice' a dozen places on the menu. No cashews were involved from what I could tell. \n\nThe cocktail was the worst part of the meal. My guest and I both ordered the clementine cooler. The server offered to serve it as a shared cocktail in a metal pineapple for two. We declined. It arrived in the pineapple. I took a sip and all I tasted was mint which I strongly dislike. The menu said the drink was 'FS Vodka infused with clementine, FS clementine bitters, lime, honey, maraschino.' I called the server over to ask if there was a mistake. She said the mint was just a garnish. I pointed out that it reminded me of a mojito. She didn't discuss it further. A manager stopped by at the end of the meal. At that point our $25 drink was less than half consumed. She asked how everything was. I told her I was very disappointed in the drink and suggested that they list an ingredient like mint on the menu if they're going to include it. She replied that cocktails have many ingredients and they can't list everything. To clarify, the menu listed 5 ingridents in the cocktail. Other than ice and mint, I don't think there was anything else in it. I didn't detect honey or maraschino which were listed (or really much clementine). She said that she'd pass feedback on to whoever manages cocktails and left the table. \n\nI'm not sure why a manager would bother walking around the dining room talking to people if she's going to ignore feedback when she requests it. I live 4 blocks from this restaurant. I was excited to have it in the neighborhood but after my first visit likely will not return.

Brunch (when I made this reservation) was a great selection, however nearly all of my food was cold when I ate it. I wish that there were flames or heaters of some sort to keep the buffet food warm, because while the food was good, it would have been much more enjoyable if it was hot. I had the brunch buffet on Saturday at Farmers & Distiller's and the quality was great, the service was fast, quick, and pleasant to work with, and the food was rich and filling, with a variety of options to taste, sample, and eat. The ambiance depends on the time that you come in, with the restaurant becoming busier and more crowded as the day goes by; so it can become quite energetic filled with lots of people (mostly young professionals). However, I enjoy this kind of environment from time to time and it was a welcome addition. I think that if you have the funds and the time, that this is a good place to explore!

No beets of my salad (partly why I ordered it). The flavors were very good on my date's meal, though, and I was comp'd for the salad and salmon. Farmers and Distillers was fantastic! My boyfriend and I went for dinner when we visited DC and had heard of its recent opening. I enjoyed the ribeye steak and he had sliders. The food was delicious and great portions. Additionally they had a great beer, wine, and alcohol selection. The decor of F&D was rustic and very comfortable. I would highly recommend F&D to anyone and will return next time I am in DC!!

Good concept but there were a fair number of kinks that needed to be worked out. The shared drinks pricing was not clear on the menu (it just says $25, not $25-75). The garden pot dished was not really described well and ended up being not very good as a vegetarian entree. An Asian dish and tried chicken were way over salted. Steak and lobster ravioli turned out well. Service was a little slow but that's more because the place was new versus bad service and our waiter was very nice.

First time here and it was absolutely amazing. Courtesy call I received before the actually reservation inquired about any special occasions, after mentioning it was my anniversary they made a note and the server we had when we arrived told us congratulations. Server, Paul, was just fantastic, upbeat and extremely knowledgeable of everything on the menu.

I was disappointed.\nPros: thoughtful, well-prepared cocktails. I would return for drinks.\n\nCons: one item on the entire menu is vegan friendly. Rushed, confused delivery of food with several incorrect items and poor service recovery. Manager apologized but offered no suggestions when vegan dish was poor ('it's the only thing we have'). Incorrectly made appetizer was returned, never to return corrected. The waiter's recommended pasta dish was nothing more than buttered noodles my mother made in fifth grade.\n\nI fear this chain has jumped the shark. I haven't had this poor service experience in some time.

Great cocktails and really good food. Had a fantastic bartender and the large bar area and our server for dinner was knowledgeable and nice. \nWe tried 3 of their cocktails, all were tasty and had a beautiful presentation. \nThe food was excellent- we started with dumplings and the bread and butter. The bread was an entire loaf and it came with creamy homemade butter. My fiancé ordered steak which was cooked to perfection. The red mac and cheese was perfect. I had the BBQ chicken it was crispy and juicy and the portion was huge. \n\nGreat new restaurant that didn't feel new, there were not problems, nothing to indicate how new they are. It was a nice dinner. I highly recommend it!

I was pretty impressed with the unique menu that has nods to both Chinatown and historic MVT. The place was understaffed and the service slow as a result. I also had questions about the menu (dairy free options) and it took a lot longer to get answers and be able to order because the waiter was not knowledgeable about food allergies. They also turned the music up to a deafening volume and when diners complained, they turned it down but it took a good 15 minutes. Id say that this place is is need of a good manager and some additional staff training on the wide menu. It would also be great to level items vegan, gluten free, vegetarian, etc) to save the back and forth with the kitchen.

My partner and I are huge fans of the other 'Farmers' restaurants here in DC/Georgetown, so we were very excited to try the newest addition right near our apartment. Unfortunately, from the drinks (whiskey smash?) to the appetizer (raclette) and food, everything was slightly disappointing. The drinks were way too sour and the glasses were filled over the top with crushed ice. The raclette was already cooled when it was delivered to us, the warm bread, however was quite good. The drunken beef noodles were terrible. The noodles themselves were way overcooked and had turned to mush. The beef itself had a nice flavor. The best part of the night was the nitro cold brew coffee, though in my opinion, it shouldn't be served with ice in it as the ice diminishes the creaminess of the nitro. Our server was attentive and very nice, but we could tell that the servers were mis-remembering the table numbers as we had food/drinks brought to us that we didn't order... several times. \n\nAll in all, disappointing first visit.

The food is amazing. Get the crab dip/imperial. Great, expansive selection of dinner choices. The waitress was very attentive and helpful, as were the bussers, but needed more 'table set-up' support. We got what we asked for quickly, but should not have needed to ask (i.e. silverware). Again, overall worth the trip for a great dinner. The bar services needs more help and faster service. It was New Years Eve and half the bar staff was cleaning instead of serving; had a football game that no one was watching and did not respond to our request to watch New Years celebrations.

Second time having dinner here within a week. Was highly impressed the first time however my second venture did not provide the excitement nor was it fulfilling as the first. The first visit was crowded however, my waitress was very attentive and didn't take long to tend to the needs of the table. Second visit with fewer people in the restaurant, my waitress, although pleasant, was not attentive and seemed too busy or couldn't manage her time at the few tables that were filled ( 4 with 3 of them wrapping up). There was a helper but that person disappeared after the order was taken. The waitress definitely needed that help. \n\nThe selection I had the first visit was the filet with crab cake. It was delicious and cooked as asked (medium). Second visit, I ordered the same thing however the piece of meat was a fraction of the first week (in which I know will vary but it was a huge difference) and it was cooked well and the meat was tough. Needless to say I was very disappointed. Overall I may try this restaurant again (wouldn't be my go to restaurant) but will try a different dinner selection.

First of all, the food was incredible. Every single thing that came out of the kitchen was top notch. However we didn't always get the correct things and dishes came out at different times. We had a party of 7. Drinks took a long time to get and came out at wildly different times and some were incorrect. One of our three appetizers was incorrect but was quickly taken care of. One of our main courses was completely incorrect and was replaced by the time the other 6 people were nearing the end of their meals. The desserts came out at wildly different times. It took 15min to get a slice of pie. Overall we spent 3hours at the table from drinks to dessert. Our server was fantastic and helpful and the manager was apologetic. We think it was just growing pains. We plan to go back in half a year after they have been open longer mainly because all of the food was incredible. It was one of the best meals I've had in a while.

Still shocked! I made reservations for a party of 5 for Christmas believing that brunch would be served. I didn't see anything posted on the website or opentable that brunch would not be served. We arrived at the restaurant and became disappointed as soon as we sat down. The server informed us that there was no brunch, our reservation was at 1:00pm, so we weren't looking for dinner. She seemed overwhelmed, we asked for the manager, a lady, who stated that Farmers wasn't serving brunch and that a lot of customers were complaining about the '$30 price'......(not sure what she meant by tha). Next we ordered appetizers and it took 35 minutes to come out and we didn't get the drinks we ordered for another 20 minutes...the menus were oversized (but niceand the ink bled) for the table, there wasn't enough space and the server didn't clean the table often or check in on us and there was no fresh cheese offered or pepper (no salt or pepper on the table) offered with the seafood pasta and the server never came by so the pasta wasn't that great. We waited for the dessert menu but never ordered dessert because it took so long.

The complimentary hot coffee, hot tea, iced coffee, iced tea or farmers tea was also wonderful. My only complaint is that on the menu where they have the different types of teas listed that they offer. I would suggest they update the description for the Chelsea Breakfast tea. The description makes it seem like it would be a different type of tea then what it actually is. It ended up being more fruity and herbal than the description described. Which was fine it just would have been nice to know what to expect from the beginning. I would definitely suggest this place to friends and family.

Let me start by saying I wanted to love this place. I love Founding Farmers. My friends and I had the worst dining experience I have had in years. We were sat about 20 minutes past our reservation time. That actually wasn't really that big of a deal. We waited about 10 minutes for a server to approach us. I will say that he was very nice and personable and I did tip him well. It seemed as though he had be set up to fail. At this point it is close to 1:30 ( I had a 1pm reservation) we ordered coffee and a round of drinks....at 2pm we still did not have either. We asked about the coffee and were told it was brewing. Ten minutes later coffee showed up. We attempted to cancel the drinks but he brought them anyway and comped them. Twice one of us attempted to go get food and there weren't any plates. A friend at the table was having a really hard time because she has a food allergy and none of the food on the buffet is labeled...and the employees that were standing near the buffet weren't able to help her. This place was just a real miss for us. We left still hungry and wanting cocktails so we went to a restaurant on H st. It will be a while before I can give them another chance.

My family and I went for a late lunch the day before New Years Eve (a party of 7), and we were absolutely blown away from start to finish with the food, drinks, and service! \n\nOur waiter was excellent; attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. We started with some dumplings (pork and lamb), the local raclette, and we all wanted a taste of the cacio e pepe pasta so we ordered one and shared it.\n\n For entrées: a flatiron steak, 2 filet mignons, herb roasted spatchcock chicken, bouillabaisse, chicken-fried ribeye, and shrimp and grits. All amazing, truly some memorable food! \n\nAgainst all odds we saved room for dessert, and we all shared a small assortment of the chocolate donut sundae, a vanilla glazed and apple cider donut, and (my favorite) a piece of chocolate chess pie. Equally fantastic as the rest of the meal! \n\nNeedless to say I wish them loads of success and definitely plan on returning!

Out of the 3 dishes ordered, one\n was mediocre, one was completely bland with no flavor, and the other one was missing a key ingredient to the dish (CRAB). The drinks were boring a best and their in-house distilled vodka had a peculiar aftertaste. Original we thought they had added something else into the dirty martini, but after getting a vodka and soda water, we realized the strange taste was the vodka itself.\n\nManagement and the wait staff was very helpful and offered to bring us replacement food for two of the dishes. One of the replacements tasted like a salt lick and was nearly inedible. The second dish was pizza and was nothing special. I guess it is hard to mess up pizza.\n\nOverall, a very poor experience. It was disappointing as I am a frequent guest of some of the other brands done by this restaurant group, such as Founding Farmers.

I have been here 3 times now. Love, love, love the menu and cocktail list. If you can't find something you'll love on this menu then you are difficult and no one likes you. HOWEVER. Stick to the unusual. The porterhouse steak was meh, the sweet potato ravioli was 'I have died and gone to heaven get me some more' good. The BBQ fried chicken is amazing as are the dumplings, noodles, especially the slightly spicy curry, and the lobster pot pie. The pizza is , well, i am not sure, good, but I would get pizza elsewhere, too much other good stuff to try. \nCrab dip is good but can get anywhere, salads are pretty pretty pretty good, loved the julienne veg in beet juice and the Good Greens (might have name wrong).\nDesserts are completely sinful and great. But particularly fond of salted caramel ice cream. Just cannot on doughnuts. No doughnuts. Metabolism too slow. We came here for dinner. It has been open for just under two weeks and it was packed! We were 30 min early so made our way to the bar. It's nearly impossible to get a drink if you aren't seated at the bar as the bar tenders were super busy and seemed to avoid eye contact with anyone beyond the seated area. We managed to get seats and eventually some drinks. The strawberry pisco sour and the cucumber delight were both delicious and refreshing. We weren't called around the time that our reservation was so we ordered dumplings. Unfortunately they were out of the pork and shrimp dumplings so we got the chicken. They were good but wished that they had a little more filling. We finally were seated almost 30 min past our reservation time. I think if we weren't able to get a seat at the bar for drinks and apps - I would have been extremely cranky about the extended wait time. Our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable. Service was a little slow but it may have been because it was packed? The non sweetened iced tea was DELICIOUS! I think it's some kind of special brew. The Italian salad was good but beware of any full peppercorns that made their way in - supper peppery if bite down on one! The shrimp with crab sauce was very good and veggies had a nice grill taste to them. Would like the veggies even more if they weren't overly soft. The lobster ravioli was just ok. Wanted to try the blueberry corn pie but they were out. The personal size cherry pie was delicious- tart and sweet with a buttery crust. I would say that this was a solid meal on a very busy night. There are some kinks to work out for it to be spectacular though.

Don't go here if you have food allergies. The staff says all the right things, but didn't actually do them. We have a dairy allergy, yet a burger came out once with cheese, and then a second time with some sauce they didn't know whether it had dairy or not. We also suspect the vegetables were sautéed in butter even though they said they'd do them in oil. The manager comp'd us the meal, and in all fairness, they've only been open two weeks and it was a packed Christmas Day. But these mistakes could have been very serious if we hadn't been paying close attention.

I would've rated the overall experience with only two stars. However, since it was only their second night of opening, I've given them some leeway in this review.\n\nWe arrived early so we can enjoy a cocktail at the bar. The bar area was lovely and very busy. Our bartender seemed to know how to make drinks, but he took a very, very long time figuring out how to process our order in the system. It took us awhile to pay and we barely had a sip before our table was ready.\n\nMy first turn-off was when we ordered a nice bottle of wine and our sever started pouring large pours into our glasses. I had to ask him to stop so we could first taste to make sure the bottle was fine, and to not overfill our glasses.\n\nMy next turn off was when I found TWO very distinctive lipstick marks on my supposedly clean wine glass. That was actually gross. I'm glad I saw it before I tasted the wine. The pour was wasted of course since I wasn't about to taste the wine from a dirty glass.\n\nWhen we ordered another bottle, our server did remember to have us taste the wine first, BUT he poured it while there was still wine from the first bottle in the glass! I then nicely explained to him the wine pouring etiquette. Sigh.\n\nOther turn-offs were: they ran out of the appetizers we wanted to order and they also ran out of to-go bags for our leftovers.\n\nI'm a big fan of Founding Farmers, which is why I was excited to try Farmers & Distillers. I know they will improve over time so I'll try them again in a few months. Maybe then they'll be more settled.

Very disappointing. Our server was being trained and while he was lovely and accommodating the person training him was rude. We asked if there was a place we could charge our phone for a few minutes and he said the outlets weren't installed in the restaurant he said he would see what he could do and just never came back. Appetizers were skimpy. The spring rolls looked like limp churros. There was barely any filling in them The oysters were ok. Main courses were average at best.

The food was really delicious but our server was really very poor - she didn't know the three vodka options for a Bloody Mary, and when she went to check she could only remember two of the three. She wasn't able to knowledgeably speak to the menu or describe ingredients in numerous dishes.\nMy husband ordered the spatchcock chicken which came undercooked. Still some growing pains with this newly opened restaurant. The food was overall excellent, and impressive that the kitchen can prepare so many different things well. However, the waitstaff while pleasant, and trying very hard, was slow and not well trained to the point that everyone in our group of 6 noticed. An hour after being seated, we did not yet have our salads. Two of our party were told 20 minutes after ordering that their entrees were unavailable. We kept having to ask for silverware and couldn't seem to get more drinks. That said, the food, when it came from slow kitchen, was very good and virtually anyone can find something fun to try from the creative menu. Just don't go expecting top notch service - it could take a while for them to get there.

So, I made a reservation for 7pm, arrived at 6:55p, didn't get seated until 7:40pm. And I was a table for one. Not sure what the issue was, but seeing other diners with the same experience says it wasn't because it was Christmas. The food was good and service once seated was fine, but they need to get that under control because it seems to negate the need for a reservation if you won't be seated when you requested.

The restaurant just open, so I give it a pass on getting all of the meal prep things perfect, especially because we went on Xmas day. I requested no butter on my vegetables, but it was very oily (and tasted) as if it had butter anyway. I even heard the people next to us make a note to our waiter to tell the chef to make the noodles less oily next time. So I'm assuming they just cook with an extremely oily approach.\n\nThe ambiance is great, but the food was just 'okay.' I'd give it another try though because the service was great, which made the experience nice.

We came for lunch on a Saturday for a 1:30 reservation. We were told that we were locked in to the brunch buffet, and that the buffet ended at 2pm. By the time we sat at our table it was 1:40 and felt like we had to hurry up and get food before it was taken away. No waiter came to explain to us how brunch worked. Another table was sat 10 minutes later and they were given the option to order directly from the menu, which is what we wanted since we didn't want to eat unlimited amounts of food. It turns out that food is not taken away right away and there are waiters that come around with different things to try. Again, this was not explained and made the experience feel rushed. The buffet food was good, but it was not necessarily what I would have ordered if given the option to choose from a menu. Service was really slow. The waiter did not offer water, coffee, drinks or anything so we constantly had to look out for him to get his attention.

I was very disappointed to find they did serve brunch on Xmas.... this was not displayed on the website or open table.. I will say we had a great waiter that made everything very easy. A couple issues took place during my visit..... We found hair in one of our meals and All my food was so cold even the dessert that suppose to be made to order ... I was so excited to try the red mac & cheese but only to discover its not hot at all. I understand this place is new and still working through the opening issues but it seemed to be a lot of mistakes during my visit. The manager was very nice and came by our table. He did take care of the issues with no question! I will for sure come back for drink and brunch .... they just need some more to work out the the issues.

Waited 10 minutes for our waitress to greet us and then another 15 minutes for our first round of drinks to come. Our appetizers came out in decent enough time (at the same time as our first drinks) and dinner came out in decent time as well but we could tell it had been sitting in the kitchen window a while as my burger was greasy and the bun was soaked, fries were wilted and my husbands meatball sandwich was dry. This place has a lot of potential but they need to work on their attention and speed of service!

This place is still working things out on the service and food side of things. I will say this- the restaurant is cosmetically pleasing. However, the aesthetics are the best part of the place so far. Despite being prompt for our reservation and the fact that the restaurant was fairly empty at the time we arrived, my friend and I still had to wait 20 minutes for our table and that was only after we checked on the status of our seating. The hostess seemed perplexed as to why we weren't seated even though we were standing in front of her for the entire 20 minutes. Bizarre. I had mussels and they still had grit in them. My friend had scallops and she thought they were under seasoned. We shared an apple cider donut for dessert and only had a bite each because it was woefully undercooked. Strangely, neither our server or the manager, who previously checked in with us during the meal, commented on the fact that we left a completely uneaten donut on the table. So, we did not get a chance to tell them that the donut was, well, gross. Oh well. The place is in my neighborhood, so I will go again for drinks, but ultimately, at this point, the place is overhyped. \n\nUPDATE: I came in for breakfast. The manager asked if it was my first time. I said no. He asked how I enjoyed my first visit. I was honest (see above). He said that they would make sure I had a great breakfast. I ordered eggs over medium. They came out over hard. Sigh. Also, the tea service is overwrought. The server comes out with this unnecessary timer contraption that he didn't even understand (he kept turning it- um it's a hourglass timer dude). Please lose the dumb timer. The tea pot is too hot to the touch. It needs a small mitt to handle comfortably. Or just lose the fancy teapot; it's not that serious F&D. I'll be back again because the manager gave me his card (he could tell I was exasperated) and was nice. Maybe third time will be a charm. I won't hold my breath.

Felt like I was in Las Vegas. The décor is nothing special (carpet floors and the table and chairs look like a buffet restaurant). Way too many tables in the main room, wait staff had a serious problem getting to our table. Our poor waitress looked to be in pain every time she had to squeeze herself in-between two chairs to get to us and then leave our corner again. I heard someone else describe the place as similar to 'The Cheesecake Factory' (not a compliment). The theme is inconsistent. This place isn't anywhere near as good as Founding Farmers or even Farmer, Fishers, Bakers (which I would rank below Founding Farmers). While the overall experience was fine (my burger was good-- I would compare the taste to how a fast food burger would taste...American cheese), my date and I both agreed that there would be zero reason to ever return. This place is nothing special. Had the apple cider donut for dessert, and I do not recommend that either, completely meh compared to a real apple cider donut.

I am reluctant to leave a review because our experience wasn't great - the only thing that saved the night was our wonderful server. The restaurant is clearly working out some opening kinks - though, as a local chain, there should really be no surprises about how to run an efficient restaurant. We had reservations for a Tuesday night at 7:30 - arrived 5 minutes early and were told that we'd be seated very soon. It was over 25 minutes before we seated. When we were ordering, almost everything we ordered was out and we had to find something different - we didn't order any specials or anything unusual so that was very frustrating. This was all the way from the appetizers through the entrees to dessert and included a beer, too. A few times we were brought food from runners that we didn't order and had to refuse. All of the food was very good but one warning about the Lobster Pot Pie - it has no lobster in it. In the end, we had a nice dinner and our server was great - she was a trooper and we appreciated her hard work. It'll be a little while before we go back so the restaurant has time to get a little better.

I think from this experience, I don't believe I will be trying another restaurant in their opening weeks. My reservation was for 7:30pm, and my party of three was not seated until 8:15. There was a giant crowd forming around the hostess and people were packed shoulder to shoulder. I got the feeling that the restaurant was overbooked. We did not leave until 10:30- not because we stayed around, but more due to the slow service. The restaurant was out of the majority of the dumplings by the time we were able to order. The waitress was very pleasant, but we saw her only a couple times and waited for the final bill for quite a bit of time. I think I would try this place again, but not for a few months- to allow the restaurant to find it's groove.

The food was delicious and the variety is terrific. Service was a little erratic, but friendly.\n\nA few things for the kitchen to work on: My salad arrived undressed, which is no major problem, though it took a while to get a waiter's attention to request dressing. Also, my bucatini was undercooked, which made it difficult to eat, though it was quite tasty. Another diner's steak was perfectly cooked, but the sides she order to go with it arrived already fairly cool. The service was phenomenal -- but the food was just okay. My wife ordered brie and apple rench bread -- tasty, but better as an appetizer than a main dish -- as she thought it would be. I ordered the dunken noodles with beef. The sauce could have used a bit more 'zing' or flavor. The noodles were very 'wet' almost as if they were were overcooked. They all stuck together like mush. Dish was 'very heavy.' The dumplings were very good -- light, but could have used more filling and more sauce of the side. One of my daughters enjoy the oversized ravioli as did the other who tried the sweet potato stuff pasta.\n\nDrinks and juices are always great!

My choice of black-eyed peas and collard greens tortellini was recommended by the friendly server and was, indeed, a good meal. The flavors worked surprisingly well together. The restaurant has only been open for about a week. Founding Farmers is one of my favorites restaurants, so I had to check out this new location. Although I'm not much of a buffet person, the food was really good and fresh.

So we had to pay about $30 per person for an open sunday brunch buffet. The buffet had very limited items! We don't eat pork & almost everything was mixed with pork! Also, you would think since it's a buffet that you would have many dishes with eggs! No omelette! No scramble, no pancakes, the frenchtoast teased horrible! Im a big fan of the founding farmers brunch, it's my number one in the area. But this one doesn't even come close to it!

Everything was great. We were able to get a reservation for the Saturday after they opened. Though a few of the menu items weren't available, everything we ordered was delicious. We started with the crab spring rolls and pork dumplings. For the mail courses, I got the curry chicken noodles, my husband got salmon, our daughter got shrimp and grits and our son got chicken fried rib eye. We could not stop eating and sampling the others dishes. And all of the servers were friendly and attentive. We will definitely be going back.

Visited on day three so they were working out the kinks. As result probably not fair to share all our experiences, even with reservation. However, will say, once we were seated, our waiter provided excellent service.

The food here is varied, more so than the other sister restaurants, but probably my favorite of them all! I had the oven baked shrimp and it was actually amazing. The cheesy crab baked on top with lots of butter made the meal. Also shared dumplings and really recommend the lamb dumplings. The pisco shareable cocktail was a highlight since it comes in an adorable pineapple cup and is delightful. \n\nThe only downside is their reservation and seating system. They make you wait forever and they won't seat you unless everyone is present. Still holding out hope for an upgrade on that!

We were so excited to visit Farmers & Distillers during their first week open. Having fallen in love with the other restaurants in the Founding Farmers family, we knew that this had to be worth the wait, and it was! \n\nAs a vegetarian, I was pleased to see a variety of veg-friendly options on their menu compared to Founding Farmers and MoCo's Founding Farmers. Our waitress, Tameka kindly asked if we had any dietary or allergy restrictions before taking our orders and was keen to mention any non-veg-friendly ingredients on some seemingly vegetarian menu items. Needless to say, she looked out for me, and that was part of what made our experience so great.\n\nWe went on a Friday night when the restaurant was quite packed, but we never felt rushed to order or finish our meals. We enjoyed the Pisco Punch (a shareable cocktail served in a beautiful copper Absolut Elyx pineapple), which was delicious and a perfect serving size for two people. My boyfriend ordered the Chinese Chicken and Riblets dish which was a huge serving size, and I ordered the Garden Pot-De-Feu which was just the opposite. Still, we both enjoyed our dishes and desserts (Salted Caramel Affogato and Strawberry Lemonade sorbet). \n\nIt looks like Farmers and Distillers has tried to offer more space, a larger bar/happy hour section and a huge dining area. That's good since it seems business will only continue to grow! We look forward to going back.

The food on the brunch bar was all cooled off and the menu just seemed a little confused with the part Asian part American part other places. I also ordered a chai latte at 11 something in the morning and was told they had run out of the drink. How is that possible?

Saturday brunch was very tasty even on one of their first weekends open. The food was all good. Some of the brunch offerings are a little strange and skew heavily towards lunch instead of breakfast but all around good experience. Some of the tables are way way way too close together though...so that people are unable to get in and you feel like you are sitting with the strangers next to you on the bench.

It was the restaurant's first Friday, so we had to wait a little bit after our reservation for a table, but it was well worth it!\n\nThe design is beautiful, and the menu is so diverse that everybody should be able to find something.\n\nWe got the sweet potato spring rolls, chicken fried steak, and the gruyere onion pizza, and we were in heaven.\n\nDefinitely planning on make it a regular spot!

For a brand new restaurant during their first full brunch buffet service, it was a great experience. The food was amazing. The servers were struggling a bit with the cramped space and learning to work together to ensure everyone had what they needed. The short ribs and grits were highlights.

So amazing! Since it's brand new, there are definite kinks the restaurant needs to work out (such as being a little slow), but nothing that isn't expected for a restaurant that's only been around for a few days. I'm sure it'll only get better. The food and service are exceptional. I'm so glad this restaurant opened!

I was excited when I received an email the Farmers group was opening another restaurant in D.C. I quickly made my reservations for its opening week a month and half in advance. I reviewed the menu leading up to my reservation in excitement but I was concerned that there were a lot of choices on the menu. It always alarming to me when a restaurant has a lot of choices and instead of perfecting a few choices. It was crowded but the hostess were very accommodating. We were seated after waiting for about 5 minutes. As soon as we sat down we were greeted by our waiter who was great!\n\nSince I reviewed the menu I knew what I wanted. They were out of the Parmesan Pound Cake (a starter on their menu) so we ordered the Crab Dip instead. The dip was very cheesy, which took away from the taste of the crab. You really couldn't taste the crab at all. We decided to order 3 entrees to try their food. The Chicken Fried Ribeye came with vegetables and mac & cheese. The chicken fried ribeye was way too salty. The mac n cheese was red in color and was dry. The lobster pot pie was not what I expected at all. It was more of a slight creamy lobster bisque. It was not a traditional pot pie. I personally did not like it. The last entree we ordered was the BBQ fried chicken. There version is just regular fried chicken which supposedly has a BBQ rub mixed in with the batter. It was obviously the same batter used on the ribeye because it was salty. The coleslaw it came with had no flavor. It tasted like chopped up coleslaw with mayonnaise. The used absolutely no seasoning. The only thing good was the fries and they tasted like they had been sitting out because they were lukewarm by the time they got to the table. \n\nI was very disappointed by this restaurant. It seems as though their main focus was their Asian inspired dishes. They definitely need to scale down their menu and have fewer dishes that they do very well. The service was impeccable but the food gets a D from me.

The service and food are great and the restaurant is a good addition to the neighborhood. However, the menu needs some serious editing down. Far too many choices and even some of the entrees also need some editing down. For example, the fried chicken entree can eliminate the carrots, fries, and one of the sauces. It would then be a more focused and not overkill. As it is the restaurant struggles to have a unique feel and character.\n\nThe service was outstanding and clearly well trained and versed on the menu.

We loved our date night at Farmers and Distillers! Everyone was attentive, and our server gave great recommendations! I loved all of the cool details, from the menu to the open space for the bakers. The chocolate chess pie won the night! The lamb dumplings were amazing. The Hong Kong style fish dish was very balanced (it could have been overly salted, but they did a great job keeping the salt in control). We'll definitely be back!

nothing like the original. feels like a money grab factory. not personable like the penn ave location - i felt rushed. i hate to repeat myself but it felt like a factory assembly line with too many moving parts. manager said there was an issue with order and he would see what he could do and never returned... no follow thru! \n\nfried chicken was overly greasy. cole slaw had no flavor. just not impressed. especially since the penn ave location is my favorite restaurant in dc\n\ni hope it was opening night jitters. i'll give them a few weeks to work the kinks out!

I was really excited when I heard founding farmers was opening up a new place and immediately reserved. Service was nice, though it seems a bit slow (especially getting the drinks). The decoration was nice, and we were set to have a great time. The table was a bit strange since it was one long bench, so it was made to sit 5 people, or awkwardly 4. \n\nThe menu is extensive - it was a fusion between 'local' and American food, plus some sort of Chinese.\n\nWe ordered 3 appetizers - the riblets, raclette, and shrimp cracker tuna. The riblets were the only ones that stood out in flavor (or actually possibly too salty). The bread and pickled vegetables were not bad either. The raclette cheese was too dense and perhaps should have been over some small potatoes and pickled veggies - it was like spreading cold hard butter onto the bread rather than the melted experience at the Christmas markets in Europe. The shrimp cracker tuna was pretty unmemorable, especially in flavor. One of my friends ordered the bone broth soup - it was good, but hate to say it - my mom makes it better.\n\nDrinks: My group drink (something with gin in it) was good, but my friend's pisco sour was strange and not to his liking. One of my other friends ordered a nitro iced tea, and it wasn't really anything special (nor did she finish it). \n\nWhen it came to entrees - I got the hand pulled lamb noodles - and it felt dry, clumpy, and dense. It seemed better after eating it as 2 day old leftovers. But it definitely tasted like I was biting into raw thick dough. One of my friends ordered Dan Dan noodles - which seemed thinner (still rather thick) but also a bit more saucy which help the noodles go down. Essentially all the dishes lacked umami :(\n\nI would go on, but the overall verdict was that we hope the restaurant works out its kinks and/or they figure out what to do with the 'chinese-inspired' food on the menu and add some flavor and umami to it. And please fix the noodles.

Could not find a thing to complain about. The service was excellent, not only were they friendly but very accommodating when we decided to change drink orders even after it had already been prepared. The hardest part about eating there is honestly deciding what to eat because there are so many options. The drunken noodles are amazing as is the red mac & cheese. Will def be returning very often.
